Adding Type1 font VolutaScript to bipublisher

Hi,
I am trying to add a font called VolutaScript , a type1 font. I uploaded the file vs.pfm like I would do for a truetype font.
However the syntax in the bipublisher manual for a type1 font looks like the following example:


<type1 name="Helvetica"/>

There is no place to mention the path like in a truetype font case. Example from documentation.

<truetype path="/fonts/Arial.ttf"/>

I have looked through this forum, but I have not found any working solution.
One place I saw a suggestion to include something like the following for type1 tag:
<type1 pfm="vs.pfm"/>
But this didn't work for me.
Does anyone have an idea how to add a type1 font to bipublisher?

Hi Naveen,
My problem got solved now. When my initial attempt didn't succeed for whatever reason, I tried using a value of "bold" for weight.
. This also didn't work.
Later the fix was to use as follows in the font declaration within xdo.config file:

Now MetaPlusBold-Roman is working.
We have BI Publisher installed as a stand alone. The group was initially using Oracle Reports to generate reports
and now we are moving to using BI Publisher.

Issue with adding new fonts in Lion

I'm trying install two new fonts on my Mac Book Air and cannot get it to allow me to add them to the Font Book. (I've just successfully added the same fonts on to my Mac Book Pro which runs Snow Leopard, so this is definitely a Lion issue.)
I've created a new font library and then tried adding the fonts to it but it refuses to validate the font saying that '1 serious error was found. Do not use.' Any ideas of how to remedy this as I urgently need to use the font?

Adding Barcode Font, Other PDF reports complete in warning

Hello guru's,
I am needing assistance with a barcode font problem that I am having. We have followed instructions on Tim's blog about adding barcode fonts but the concurrent program completes in a 'warning' status.
Also, other reports that were developed in Word that are getting output to PDF format are also completing with a warning(even though they have no Barcode Font on them). When I try to view the output through EBS it will not let me view it(though it will let us print the report to a post-script printer with a pdfTOps printer driver).
Interestingly enough, when we remove the Font Mapping(which was done at a site level) all the reports without barcodes complete successfully and can be viewed through EBS(and the report with the barcode font completes in a warning). So my question is, why does this happen and how do I fix the issue? It appears as though the Font Map which we created is not allowing the predefined fonts in XML publisher to work properly?

Which version of XML Publisher are you in? You might have to install a patch for bar code to show up on PDF outputs.
Please take a look at metalink note: 373377.1 (in the bottom of this document, please see the patch info along with error info).

Have you tried importing them into the EXS 24 ? Assuming the process is the same if you're on Logic X, its just a matter of putting the soundfont files into the ~/Library/Application Support/Logic/Sampler Instruments folder and the EXS converts them when you try to load them - its explained properly in the Software Instruments manual (EXS24 section), but its very quick and easy. It might provide a decent alternative.

Adding new fonts to Symbian Anna on E6

I wonder to know how to adding new fonts to Symbian Anna on my E6. Most of my Word and PowerPoint documents require some special fonts, such as Courier News, in order to display correctly.
Does anyone know the solution?

Flash cs5 not recognizing type1 fonts

hello,
i'm fresh to using flash cs5. everything works smoothly,
but i can't use type1 fonts (even though they work ok in flash cs3, and also, all the other types of fonts work fine).
if i use a type1 font, the textfield (both render in the final swf, as well as on the stage) appears in some default font.
i'm talking about text field type classic / static text.
ANYBODY ANY IDEA? thanks in advance, me i'm on my wits' end... =/

Strangely enough even though I had gotten the " Install failed....Mac OS X could not be installed on your computer....The install could not copy the necessary support files" I had left it on the screen and left the room for awhile. I walked back into my computer room a few minutes ago and the window on the screen stated that the SL OS 10.6.4 had successfully installed. I am now very carefully checking things out to make sure the fonts are where they should be. With the exception of some updating it appears all may be well.
PS. Below is a note I was writing to Kurt (also assisting me) to try and detail what had happened. Added it in case it could be of any value to you

Thank you for response. following is series of events to my best recollection.
I would typically not have been this stupid/ignorant but was doing this in a hurry with someone asking me questions...wasn't paying attn. to what I was doing
• downloaded new fonts
• opened downloaded fonts, clicked font icons to open and install them.
• typed "fonts" in spotlight (with the intention of moving new fonts into font folder)The Spotlight results window revealed 5 or 6 font folders. I ignorantly started to try a clean up by installing all fonts into a single folder (not thinking about system fonts)
Sometimes when you are moving a folder the window you moved it from will jump around..well this occurred and I mistakenly released the folder on the desk top. This caused a copy to be made. After some investigation I realized it was a copy of the required system fonts that were still located in the original "spotlight results" window.
• I attempted to delete the copy..when I did an administrator password box appeared I entered the password and the result was both system font folders were deleted (the original & the desk top copy I erroneously made)
• Now windows open but are blank with sometimes faded mini sized icons. If I click one of the mini icons i get a new blank window. I am unable to give any instruction, have total blank menus, dialog boxes, etc.
I can open the some of the items that have icons in the apple dock at bottom of page in the

Meanwhile fc-cache searches and caches /usr/share/fonts/Type1
$ xlsfonts|grep nimbus
shows the font.

infinality patches installed and gsfonts package.
What can be the problem?

In your infifinality.conf, located probably in /etc/fonts/infinality, there should be the following entry right at the beginning:

<rejectfont>
<pattern>

</patelt>
</pattern>
</rejectfont>
</selectfont>
You will need to comment it in order to make your T1 fonts visible for the system, as instructed by the author of the file.

Adding web fonts to Muze, but it does not "see" them

Hello, I am trying to add web fonts to Muze, but it does not "see" them. These are fonts purchased from Myfonts.com. No matter if do browse option or drag and drop in add web fonts, muse simply does not recognize the files. Yes. They have correct extensions.

Barcode Font not available in PDF after adding to Font Management

Hello CF experts,
I need to use a barcode font in a PDF document. I installed
the font in Font Management, but nothing happens when I attempt to
use it. I've tried to use it both in and out of PDF's, and it
doesn't work either way. It does work in normal HTML code if the
local machine has the font installed, but this isn't very helpful,
as I need it to be served up from the Server with fontembed for PDF
usage.
Here is what the Font Manager shows:
User Defined Fonts
Actions Font Family Font Face Font Type Useable In Path
IDAutomationHC39M IDAutomationHC39M TRUETYPE PDF/FlashPaper
/var/www/html/MM/IDAutomationHC39M_Free.ttf
I've tried using it in tags, CSS Styles, etc,
and nothing works.

The Server is the source for any fonts used? This hasn't been
my experience at all. Web pages don't embed fonts, but rely on the
clients PC having the requested font face installed.
My problem is that I have a unique need for a Barcode font to
be available to clients without having to run around and install it
locally. In concept I should be able to embed the font in
Flashpaper or a PDF and bypass the need to make the font available
on each client's PC.
Is anyone successfully using the PDF "Font Embed" feature
this way using fonts installed in the Font Manager?
Is there any easy way to tell if the font's installed in Font
Manager are actually working and/or available?

When I used iOS4.3.3 , my phone did not stop working for a while although I can't see in Myanmar font!

Apple has not yet included a Myanmar font in iOS, and there is no way for users to add one. You can search the app store for "myanmar" or "burmese" to see if there are some apps that may be useful for some purposes.

Adding a Font Selection to GUI

Hi,
I am working on a simple text editor program, like Windows Notepad. However in my version, the user only needs to be able to type in text and save the memos typed to file. However, I would also like to add a font option. More specifically, I am trying to create a JMenu that lists several font choices. Once selected the user would be able to type text in the selected font. I don't know how to implement this. I do NOT want to show some pre-written text in some strange font - I just want to give the user the option of selecting a font and typing with it.
Can anyone help me with this?

Adding Custom Fonts to a JTextComponent

I am working on a simpler version of Microsoft's Notepad and I am suppose to give the user a choice of fonts to use. Currently I am using a JTextArea and I know how to change the font style and size using the setFont method, but I have no idea how to give the user the choice through my Font menu item. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

For example to change the size, you write an ActionListener that get the text of the menu item (ie. the font size). Then you convert the numeric String to a Float and use the Font.deriveFont(...) method to reset the font of the text area.
For the style you would need to store the style as the action command and then convert the value as above.

Adding/Activating Fonts in Flash CS4

Okay, so this is probably a really simple fix, but I recently upgraded to CS4 from CS2 and for some reason only a dozen or so fonts are showing up in my menu. In Flash 8 everything I had in Suitcase would show up. Any advice on how to remedy this? or at least add more fonts? I appreciate the help!

Type1 font missing glyph width from /Widths array

Hi everyone
I am trying to calculate character width in order to show highlighted search results in a PDF document. The problem I have faced is that the /Widths array I am depending on has a portion of its values equal to 0. The values substituted with zeros are the ones that are used in the text. This is probably related to embedded font subsets, but I am not sure at the moment. What are the actions that should be taken in such a situation? See the structure of the mentioned PDF in a screenshot below:

Yes, writing a 0 into the width for a character that has been removed from a subset is a somewhat-common operation.
I am surprised that you are finding glyphs that are actually being used in the content stream with 0 widths.
