Adding YTD Columns by Source Actual vs Budget

Hi,
I need to add a calculated column that sums accross months, but by the data source (Actuals vs Budget).
I have three colonm levels, period number (ie 1,2,3  - hidden only for sorting), period name( ie DEC-07) and  Source (Actual & Budget). The default total includes all columns. I need to be able to sum by Actual and Budget and then add a variance.
I am not very familiar with the grid formulas.
ANy ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

If I'm reading this right you have an Actual column and a budget column for every month column.
ActualTotal = {tbl.Actual1} + {tbl.Actual2} + {tbl.Actual3} + ...
BudgetTotal = {tbl.Budget1} + {tbl.Budget2} + {tbl.Bugget3} + ...
VarianceTotal = {@ActualTotal} - {@BudgetTotal}

    I have only one KF and after closing the month, I would load actuals to the Budget KF itself.
    Right now this coulmn is a formula with below:
    ( 1 <= 'Last Actual' ) * 'Jan / Actual' + ( 1 > 'Last Actual' ) * 'Jan / &0T_VERS&'
    And the column heading is "January Act/Budget"
    At the moment it is confusing for users to know which figures are Actuals and which are Budget.

  • Subtotal on Ytd column changes when adding a date-filter

    Hi everybody,
    I am facing a challenge in BIEE which I can't explain.
    BI Server version: 10.1.3.4.1 Build 090414.1900
    Using Sample Sales Reduced
    I've defined the following request
    Columns:
    Region, Year, Month, Day Date, Revenue, Year to Date Revenue (Aggregation Rule: Server Complex Aggregate)
    Filter:
    Year = 2008
    and month = 2008/01
    and region = East
    Results shown in a table view and adding a subtotal on month
    Revenue column: 428261.97
    Year to Date Revenue: 428261.97
    The challenge:
    Adding the following filter
    Day Date <= 1/31/2008
    leads to the following subtotals
    Revenue column: 428261.97
    Year to Date Revenue: 6867366.46
    The subtotal in Year to Date Revenue is now a total of all the values (aggregation rule is still Server Complex aggregate) and I can't get back to the correct number as long as the Day Date filter exists. I would have expected the 428261.97 as the subtotal.
    Is there anything I've misunderstood?

    Hi Andy,
    Other than equal to/is in filter if u apply u ll get *6,867,366.46* ....why because its dividing the data for all the day date that u mentioned let say less than 31st jan -08....if u want to get *428261.97* remove the extra filter
    have u seen the formula for YTD column ? ( TODATE("Sample Sales"."F0 Rev Base Measures"."1-01 Revenue (Sum All)", "Sample Sales"."H0 Time"."Year"))
    from the formula ,Less than equal to means it ll consider all the dates and add up the revenue then how come you will get 428261.97?

  • Auto-adjust references when adding rows/columns

    If I recall correctly, it was the behavior of Appleworks that if you added, say, column B, making the old column B into column C, all references to B throughout were automatically changed to C. This does not happen in Numbers. Is there any way to make this the default behavior or a different command to add rows/columns that causes references to automatically be adjusted accordingly?

    OK, this is going to make me sound really stupid, but I actually was so confused and tired that I meant the exact opposite of what I said. I was making a ledger-type spreadsheet keeping a running balance, and I wanted cells in the balance column to continue referring to the cell directly above them rather than to one absolute cell that used to be directly above them. That's how it works in Appleworks. I think.

  • SSIS 2005 Adding a Column to an existing Package

    Hello Forum
    forgive me but it 's been over 5 years since I touched SSIS.
    We have an SSIS package that compiles data and then exports the data to a MS Ecxel Spreadsheet.  We are struggling to add an existing column.
    Essentially the package reads data from source, performs a "Data Conversion" so that the Output Columns are named "Output of Field1" etc and then the data is exported to the Excel Spreadsheet.
    The developer has succeeded in adding the column to the Data conversion and has manually added the column in the Spreadsheet; however although the converted column appears in the Column Mappings, the corresponding destination Column in the Spreadsheet does
    not.
    Can someone please provide instructions on how we can achieve this?  Many thanks.

    You have to re-configure whole data-flow task inside your package, where ever your new column effected in package.

    I am working on a multi currency planning application.
    I want to do variance reproting wherein I have to calculate variance between actual * actual exchage rate and actual * budget exchange rate.
    What can be the best way to do this?

    To get actuals at budget exchange rate the normal practice is to have another scenario called something like actual_bud_rate where you have the budget exchange rates loaded.
    The variance can then be accomplished in many ways whether that be via SmartView, Financial Reports, or creating another scenario and using one of the variance functions @VAR, @VARPER.
    The key to any of the methods for variance is that new scenario and loading the budget rates to that scenario.

  • How to add get the field name for a newly added site column.

    I have the following:-
    Enterprise wiki site collection inside SharePoint server 2013.
    I added a new site column of type managed metadata.
    I opened the enterprisewiki.aspx page layout using the SP designer, to add the newly added site column to it.
    But I have noted that to add any site column I need to know the field name , for example the default wiki category column is referenced inside the page layout as follow:-

  • Bex Query which uses Dynamic columns to display actuals

    Hi Bex experts,
    I have a query issue/question.
    I currently have a Bex query which shows me the the planned values for each period, spanning 6 years into the future. My Key figure columns are defined as follows:
    Value type  = '020'
    Version  = mandatory variable, entered at execution.
    Posting period (FISCPER3)  = These columns are fixed values using periods 1 to 12 for each column.
    Fiscal year (0FISCYEAR) = Each column contains SAP exit for current year, and using the offset +1, +2, +3, +4 etc, when I define the future years coulmns.
    Currency = fixed 'USD'.
    Fiscal year variant = fixed 'Z4'
    The above works fine for plan data.
    I want to now include is:
    Seperate 'Dynamic columns' to show only actuals for period ranges from period one to the previous period (or current period minus 1). Each period should have it's own column for actuals.
    The dynamic actuals columns should be grouped together to the left of the plan columns.
    Actuals are only for current year, so I will still use the SAP EXIT for current year in the column definition.
    Example: If I am currently in period 10, the query should show me actuals from period 1 to period 9 in seperate columns, then continue to show me my plan values columns that I have in place already.
    How can I construct these actuals columns in to my existing query. If you have possible screens shots.

    The way I have approached this you may not like as it involves quite a bit of coding
    12 CKFs
    each CKF adds up 2 RKFs
    So 24 RKFs
    example Column 6 CKF
    Adds Column 6 RKF Actual and Column 6 RKF Plan
    Column 6 RKF Actual contains Actual version + key figure + Period variable column 6 Actual
    Column 6 RKF Plan contains Plan version + key figure + Period Variable column 6 Plan
    Period variable column 6 Actual
    is a cmod variable which reads the entered date
    if the period of entered date is LE 6
    then return period 6 into "Period variable column 6 Actual"
    else put 0 into "Period variable column 6 Actual"
    Period variable column 6 Plan
    is a cmod variable which reads the entered date
    if the period of entered date is LE 6
    then return period 0 into "Period variable column 6 Plan"
    else put 6 into "Period variable column 6 Plan"
    Now what happens is that if you enter period 6 in your selection screen all the Actuals of columns greater than 6 all have period 0 put into their selection so return 0 and all the columns less than or equal to 6 return the values for the fiscal period (ie column 1 gets period 1)
    And in addition all the Plans columns return the value of their column ie for their period for those greater than 6 and for those less than 6 they all return 0
    It's convulted - but you get the idea - and yes it works
    There may be a better way to do it - and I am open to suggestions
    (this does assume that NOTHING is posted to period 0 otherwise it won't work)

    Here is my requirement :
    I have to create a report , which shows several measure values (revenue , gross mergin etc as rows of a pivot table) against a certain period (Months , i.e. Jan , Feb ....etc as columns of a pivot table ) . Taking period prompt as presentation variable prompt . For example , If 'Jan' is selected from period dropdown list ,then only Jan values are shown . I am able to do upto this part .
    Next , I have to add one YTD column (calculated ) , which will eventually sum the values of upto selected period value , i.e if selected month is 'Mar' then March values will be shown in one column and 'Jan + Feb + Mar ' values will shown in another .
    How to achive this ?
    FYI , I am taking essbase 11.1.2.0 as datasource and using OBIEE 11.1.1.5.0 version .

  • Adding new column to production database

    I have to add a new timestamp column, that defaults to the current date/time, to an existing production database. The table is large - 150M records. I am trying to understand the ramifications of adding a new column to a table this large that gets hit often, mostly with inserts and reads. The column does allow null values and I am not going back and populating existing records with a value. Basically, I am looking for some best practice guidelines - how to prepare, what to expect, what other processes should be followed along with this schema update.

    SQL> you should also consider the chance that some where if people are using "select * into" using this table, which will fail since you added new column. i don't see any unusual performance bottlenecks by adding a new column. in case of the backups, yes the earlier backups will not have the column. if you restore it, you will see earlier table structure itself. i have one specific question. why are you not attempting this in development/test environment first? even if it is a simple insert, it's always important to do it in test environments before attempting on production db. one thing for sure i know is, after adding column, you will have to recompile all the invalid dependencies. i think, it's better if you attempt it in test db and come up with any issues you see rather than asking a general question where problematic scenarios are plenty and rarely unknown before hand.

  • Actual at budget rate

    Does the SPRUNCONVERSION rule calculate the scenario Categories (Actual at Budget rate, Actual at Prior Yr rate ...). I have all the required properties in place but cannot get the FX conversion to run on these categories.

    Hi Aimee,
    This should work.
    Most important is some requirements and settings in the category dimension. Below some properties in the category dimension that are needed:
    FX_SOURCE_CATEGORY: is the category where the data comes from
    RATE_CATEGORY: is the category where the rates are retrieved from
    RATE_YEAR: is the relative year where the rates come from (ie -1/1)
    RATA_PERIOD: is the period where the rates are retrieved from (ie dec)
    For example if you want actual @ budget rates then you have to create a new category called ACTBUD en apply the following property values:
    FX_SOURCE_CATEGORY: actual
    RATE_CATEGORY: budget
    RATE_YEAR: blank
    RATA_PERIODL blank
