Additional / secondary Admin users are removed when changes are savedto GMS 2 config

We recently upgraded from the GW Mobility Pack (Data Synchronizer)
v1.2.5 (299) to the new GW Mobility Service v2.0.1 (53).
With the previous versions of DataSync, I had two admin users setup:
admin1 and admin2. Admin1 was the original administrator setup with the
DataSync server, admin2 was manually added to the configengine.xml file.
This worked fine for the last couple years.
Since upgrading to GMS 2.0.1, I've found that when I make a change to
the GMS configuration through the WebAdmin interface, "admin2" is left
out of the configengine.xml file. After any change to the GMS
configuration I have to manually go back into the configengine.xml file,
add "admin2", and restart the services again.
Anyone else seeing this?
Thanks,
Greg

  • Error: Admin users are not allowed to have override security

In shared services, I provisioned the users FDM "Provision Manager" access. When I log on to FDM application, I see all those users have administrator privileges. When I tried to change the security level, it is throwing an error
Error: Admin users are not allowed to have override security
How can I create users who are not as admin in FDM? The user guide dont seem to help me much in this regards.

All you need to do is make sure there role is set to an Intermedate role 1-9 and not Administrator. I would suggest you do the following.
    1) Log into FDM as the main admin user.
    2) Go to user maintenance and delete all users who are not meant to have adminstarator access but can still access everything like admins.
    3) Go into Shared Services and check that these users are provisioned for FDM with one of the Intermediate roles only.
    4) Once confirmed re-add these users back in the FDM user maintenance screen by selecting them from the new user dropdown and give them the appropraite location access.
    5) Log off FDM as the admin user.
    6) Log in as the intermedaite user and tes tthe access

  • User accounts locked when changing password

I have tried searching an answer to this for a while but have not found an answer yet. So have decided to see if anyone can shed some light on it.
Basic issue is that a user changes their password on their client machine which then locks their Open Directory account so can not login.
Users authenticate against the Open Directory hosted on a 10.5.8 server. Clients are 10.6.8. No I can not update servers to 10.6 as I only have one licensed copy of it. I syncronise RAID data between the two using PresStore. File sizes are not seen as being the same between OSs so complete backup made each time, not just the changes. Not ready for Lion or Mountain Lion server as I am within a very restrictive environment behind proxy servers, still testing and ironing out issues.
Clients are mobile users and the whole user area is synced on Login, Log out and every three hours when logged in. Fundamentally Mobile accounts work great, except when it comes to changing the password. When doing this the logout sync does not connect and then during the next login the account is locked. Even when unlocking the account it says the account is locked, appearing like a conflict between the local machine and open directory. Home folder is still on client machine.
The only way to remedy this is to delete the user plist through ARD and terminal command run as root
    rm /var/db//dslocal/nodes/Default/users/usershortname.plist
Once this is done the user can then log in and it does a full sync.
DNS resolves fine, browsing and connecting to AFP shares is fine (although will not connect to the home directory on logout sync after the password change when shutting down. User can before this point stay connected to the shared volumes, save and work from them but can not automitically connect to the home folder share)
Just don't quite not know where to go now...

Please refer below link on same topic, i hope you will get your answer.

  • Admin user/password required when deleting desktop items??

    Hi,
all of a sudden I have to enter the adminuser/pw when tryiing to delete items on the desktop, because the Finder wants to do some (non specified) modifications.
How can I switch that off?
    Thanks,

    Back up all data now.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
    Step 1
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the page that opens.
Drag or copy — do not type — the following line into the Terminal window, then press return:
    sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR.. ; sudo chown -R $UID:20 ~ $_ ; chmod -R -N ~ $_
Be sure to select the whole line by triple-clicking anywhere in it. You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning not to screw up. You don't need to post the warning. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command.
The command will take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2
Boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at startup. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select Utilities ▹ Terminal from the menu bar. A text window opens.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    resetpassword
That's one word with no spaces. Then press return. A Reset Password window opens. You’re not going to reset a password.
Select your boot volume if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
Select  ▹ Restart from the menu bar.

  • IMac keeps asking for user account password when changing Airport

Whenever I change anything in Airport (switching networks mainly) my iMac constantly prompts me to submit my user account password. All other macs don't do that. Any clues?

Suggest that if you haven't already taken the next steps....open System Preferences > Network > AirPort and delete the current wireless connection by highlighting the name of the network, then clicking the - (minus) button at the bottom of the connection list. Click OK and then Apply.
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > KeyChain Access and locate the name of the wireless network, then highlight and delete that entry.
Restart your Mac to see if that will allow you to start fresh.
If still no luck, I'm afraid it's getting down to a re-installation of the operating system on the Mac.

  • Multi-user system, non-admin-users get "error 46" when downloading quicktim

Thanks in advance if you have some idea about where the root cause is.
    Error message:
"Error 46: Could not load or find the QuickTime ActiveX control."
    Context:
    - WinXP SP2 fully patched (as of 06/20/2006)
    - Multiple users: 1-Admin, all others a member of the Users group
    - Simple File Sharing is enabled (this problem does not change when this option is disabled)
    - iTunes 4.9.x and QuickTime 7.1 installed
    - Programs have been uninstalled and reinstalled several times, with no change
    Symptoms:
    - All system users can view quicktime movies when they are embedded in web pages.
    - Administrator can launch quicktime and view *.mov files, all others get Error 46 (see above) when attempting to launch quicktime or double-clicking on .mov files
    - File association properties (under Contorl Panel | Folder Options | File Types) shows .mov opens with QuickTime Player (deselecting this displays WMP as the application)
    - Users Browsing to a directory where .mov files are located, displays the WMP icon instead of quicktime (as under folder options)
This all used to work. It appears that this became broken in the last month or two, after either patching XP, or installing QuickTime 7.1 to gain H.264 codec functionality.
Is there a guaranteed way to force system wide file assoc that is reliable?
Is there a tool that parses the registry and displays what activeX controls are in use for a particular system operation?
    Thank you!
    Windows XP Pro
      Windows XP Pro

Fixed this using http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/Regmon.html and regedit.exe.
On my system, found that non-admin users were being denied access to these registry keys:
    HKEYCLASSESROOT\QTOControl.QTControl
    HKEYCLASSESROOT\QTOControl.QTControl.1
fix (both): add group users: read
That's because the non-admin accounts are members of the "users" group on my system. You may need to adjust this to match what is on your system.
Regedit can modify these permissions (but don't do it unless you are confident you can recover if you cause a problem). An easy fix, once the problem is identified. Some of you have already figured this out already.
Use regmon to get comfortable with how it works, make sure you grok the filtering, it's your friend.
Modifying the registry at your own risk. Remember to use a registry backup utility! I used http://www.fixregistry.com/download.htm "Registry Healer"
All non-admin users are operational at this time. I did not have to update iTunes and H.264 content works!
So it looks like this is a bug in the QuickTime 7.1 installer? Anyone have any insight about why this is happening with some regularity (at least according to the message board posts I'm seeing this month...)
Maybe the info is some help,

  • Second Admin User - keychain login?

Recently added second Admin User (Spouse).
When logged in to the second Admin User, being required to enter Keychain login password from first Admin User.
This is for Safari and for other apps.
If the second User is logged in at an administrative level, why is Keychain login and Safari login required each login? Can't I have Safari and Leopard remember the password? And, it's the password for the first Admin User?

every user (admin or not) has their own keychain. they are completely separate from each other and don't interact at all with one another.
when you log in a new user you have to enter all the passwords you want to store in that user's keychain. not sure what you mean about keychain login and safari login being required on every login. could you explain?

If you are unfortunate enough to delete your only admin user, or remove his admin capability, then as long as you have another user with login capability, you can give that user admin rights as shown below. You can then re-create the original user or reinstate the admin capability using NetInfo Manager.
Print this post out in a mono-spaced font, and type carefully, paying attention to spaces and punctuation, since you cannot copy/paste in Single User mode.
Caution: in single user mode you have root privileges. Be careful! Substitute the name of 'youruser' below.
Boot into single user mode (Command-S) at startup which will eventually get you a shell prompt (ending in #). Then type the following:
    fsck -fy
Repeat the above until it says your disk is OK. Then continue with
    mount -uw /
dscl . -merge /groups/admin users youruser
If you get a message saying "invalid path", then type these two commands first:
    dscl . -create /groups/admin gid 80
    dscl . -create /groups/admin passwd '*'
and then repeat the "nicl ... -merge" command. Then:
    reboot
You will now be able to login as 'youruser' and have administrative privileges.
Membership of the 'admin' group is the only thing that distinguishes administrative users from ordinary users.

Non-admin users are unable to view the Global Address List with Outlook Connector. When I give a test user admin rights (in our portal), the user can view the GAL. • Not all users are displayed for log on after a reboot or startup...

Problem summary: Not all users are displayed for log on after a reboot or startup...
This problem only occurs after a fresh start-up or restart. The only users displayed are the initial (admin user) and "Guest". Two other (non-admin) users are not shown for log on.
To work around this problem and get them to log on we have to log on as the admin user, then we can see the other users in the Fast User Switching menu (top right-hand corner of the screen), listed under the current logged on user. After selecting the non-admin user we can log in and use the laptop as normal.
If we lock the screen, use fast user switching or log out all users; all users are available for log in, until a reboot is done; at which point the non-admin users disappear again and we have to log in as the admin user and use fast user switching again.
The laptops are both brand new MacBook Airs. The initial configuration of Mac OS X Yosemite was done using the Apple ID of the purchaser (parent) and then the OS was patched, immediately, through the App store (no further updates available as of the date of this posting). After this Family Sharing was activated and new users set up for the two children who will be using these laptops.
Has anybody else experienced this problem with Yosemite?
    Cheers,
    David.

    David,
Users not enabled for FileVault unlock are only able to log into the computer after an unlock-enabled user has started or unlocked the drive. Once unlocked, the drive remains unlocked and available to all users, until the computer is restarted.
    FileVault has to be On.
To Enable the users to be able to unlock FileVault Go to:
System Preferences > Security & Privacy > FileVault ( Tab ) > Click the Lock in the bottom left > Put in your administrator password > Should see an option to Enable Users > Enable User.
    Hope that helps,
    Weston

With Adobe Muse when I make a change I have a second Admin user how do we make sure these changes are not overridden

If you're both using Muse then it's no different than if you were both using PS, AI, Word, etc. You need to use a mechanism to enable you to both have access to the latest version of the .muse file (i.e. Creative Cloud Files folder, Dropbox, file server location, etc.).
Changes made in the browser will sync back to the .muse file. Changes made in Muse are saved in the .muse file and if you're going to work on the site in Muse on two different machines then you need to have the up-to-date .muse file on the other machine.

  • How do I change system settings so that users are not required to enter the mac's admin pw in order to join a wifi network?

how do I change system settings so that users are not required to enter the mac's admin pw in order to join a wifi network?
Right now my macbook pro requires an admin password before connecting to a new wifi network. In other words when a user that is not an admin tries to connect to a new wifi network the pop up displays indicating that it is locked and an admin password is required.
Is there a way to remove this restriction so that a non admin can connect to wifi without the mac's admin password.

You can enable / disable this option in System Preferences:
System Preferences > Network > Wi-Fi > Advanced > Wi-Fi tab > Require administrator authorization to: Change networks

I'm going to assume that since you deleted your hard drive and all its files, you had a backup, yes? If the backup has an OS (bootable clone), then you can boot into it by holding down the option key when you start up you iMac and choose the backup drive. Then use Carbon Copy Cloner or Super Duper to copy the files back to your iMac.

  • Can we change log_buffer parameter online e.g. when all users are working..

    Hi,
Can we change log_buffer parameter online e.g. when all users are working.. ???
What is relation between redo buffer in sga and log_buffer parameter ?
    SQL> show sga
Total System Global Area 3758096384 bytes
    Fixed Size 1983152 bytes
    Variable Size 553655632 bytes
    Database Buffers 3187671040 bytes
    Redo Buffers 14786560 bytes
    SQL>
    SQL> show parameter log_buffer
    NAME TYPE VALUE
    log_buffer integer 14338048
    SQL>
    SQL>
If the log_buffer parameter is 14 MB then why redo buffer is no as same size e.g.
    14 MB
    SSM

I am hoping your Oracle Consultant know what he's talking about.
    According to Oracle Performance Guide,
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14211/memory.htm#sthref654
"On most systems, sizing the log buffer larger than 1M does not provide any performance benefit. Increasing the log buffer size does not have any negative implications on performance or recoverability. It merely uses extra memory.
The best method to determine if bigger redo buffer is needed is
    SELECT NAME, VALUE
    FROM V$SYSSTAT
    WHERE NAME = 'redo buffer allocation retries';
The value of redo buffer allocation retries should be near zero over an interval. If this value increments consistently, then processes have had to wait for space in the redo log buffer. The wait can be caused by the log buffer being too small or by checkpointing. Increase the size of the redo log buffer, if necessary, by changing the value of the initialization parameter LOG_BUFFER. The value of this parameter is expressed in bytes. Alternatively, improve the checkpointing or archiving process.
Other than that, hight log file sync event indicate you need faster disk for your redo logfiles. However, please also post your commits per second and redo per second from your AWR report.
100M redo logs might be small for your environment.
