Address in use: JVM_Bind

Hi,
After pressing ctrl-c to shut down oc4j R2, I got the following problem in restarting oc4j.
Error starting HTTP-Server: Address in use: JVM_Bind
It seems that the port is not release. Is there any way to release the port?
This problem seems to be appeared in R2 only!
Thanks!
Regards,

Hi Ken,
As far as I'm aware, the preferred way to shut down OC4J is via the
following command (issued fro the OC4J home directory):
java -jar admin.jar ormi://localhost admin admin -shutdown
This is explained in the "getting started" (HTML) document that comes
with the ZIP file that you download from Oracle's Technet web-site.
Good Luck,
Avi.

  • Error starting HTTP-Server: Address in use: JVM_Bind

    I installed J2ee version of Oracle9iAS R2 for windows. When I start my application server, I always get the error "Error starting HTTP-Server: Address in use: JVM_Bind". In the previous version, if I met this message, I can change the port number in "http-web-site.xml", but now, no matter what port number I changed, I always get this error message.
    Could anybody please help me with this issue?
    Can Oracle provides a tool that can automatically free the port?
    Thanks, Jessie

    If you are getting this error while starting the Oracle9iAS by using the NT services or using command line (dcmctl) then there is a port conflict for the HTTP Server. You can go the EM Website and select HTTP Server ->Server properties and select the port# for the HTTP Server.
    OC4J is configured to listen for AJP requests only and the ports are dynamically assigned. The port ranges can be specified : OC4J Instance -> Server Properties

    This is happening since we switched from JDEV 9.0.2 which always started up cleanly. It appears that the port is not being released on OC4J server termination. We are not running any other web servers and verified all open ports with netstat -a.

    We are now unable to continue running/testing/developing our project. We do not want to have to manually change the port number each time we run it. This problem occurs both in Win 2000 PRO and Win XP Pro. We have tried every combination of OC4J server host names, HTTP Server ports and Web Browser proxy settings.
    A similar problem was fixed in Rel 9.0.2 by changing the Host Name of the embedded OC4J server to localhost from the IP address.
    Would appreciate some help because we would like to take advantage of the new features in your product.

  • How to solve Address in use: JVM_Bind error in server sockets?

    I have a ServerSocket program. My prob is when the client, which initiates connection to the ServerSocket, disconnects itself from the server. The SocketServer should automatically wait for a new connection. My program works fine, however there are times when I encounter the "Address in use: JVM_Bind" error, so the ServerSocket couldnt listen anymore to incoming connections.
    Im certain that the ServerSocket, client Socket, its input and output streams are closed before calling the accept() method again. I tried setting the delay between calling the accept() longer (5000 millisec) but still it wont work. What else could be wrong?
    Thanks!

    Hello, we are unable to use JDev 9.0.3.1035.
    We installed your distribution and set it up as follows:
    1. Linked to CVS and checked out our project which works just fine under JDev 9.0.2
    2. Added libraries for Jakarta ECS and MS SQL Server JDBC drivers.
    Then we can run it once successfully. Close browser and terminate embedded OC4J Server and run project again and we get the following error:

    Modify the config/rmi.xml file to have the host attribute in the tag as follows:

    After that, place the log4j-your-jdev-version.jar in appserverhome/j2ee/home/lib folder.
    Restart the server. The bind problem would disappear.

  • Address already in use: JVM_Bind error in DOS

    Hello,
    I am writing a multi threaded client server (Both client and server are multi threaded) program.where I have set of clients performing secure file transfer amongst them self. Here there is a Indexing server who is keeping record of all the files contained by clients. A client will make a request for a file to the Indexing Server which intern return the port no. and address of the client having that file. Now this client will connect to another client (Which now will act as server) to get the file and public key .
    Now I am connecting to server by using fix port number.
    Socket client = new Socket("127.0.0.1",2345)
    Also since the request for file from another client can come therefor I am creating a thread to start listning port on client side by,
    serverSocket serversocket = new serverSocket(client.getLocalport);
    //provided that connection to server with port 2345 already made.
    but when I am running this program through "DOS" it is giving me an error Address already in use: JVM_Bind.
    //checked through netstat and found that localport for the client is bound to 2345 (That is obvious)
    But when I am running this program in unix I am getting no error.

    ServerSocket.setReuseAddress(true) does not work on vista. Why? The following code is OK on XP, but throw the above exception on vista.
         @Test
         public void test() throws Throwable {
              Thread t = new Thread() {
                   public void run() {
                        ServerSocket ss;
                        try {
                             ss = new ServerSocket( 11111 );
                             System.out.println( "In Thread: " + ss );
                             System.out.println( "In Thread: " + ss.accept() );
                        } catch (IOException e) {
                             e.printStackTrace();
              t.start();
              Socket cs = new Socket( (String)null, 11111 );
              System.out.println( cs );
              ServerSocket s = new ServerSocket();
              s.setReuseAddress( true );
              s.bind( new InetSocketAddress( cs.getLocalPort() ) );
              System.out.println( s );

  • Address already in use: JVM_Bind

    Hello,
    I have a application client-server, the socket client connects to the server. After awhile, the server pushes news connections back. In the part client appears:
    java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect
    I detect the problem and try to reconnect the server, it gives: Address already in use: JVM_Bind
    Can I avoid the first one?
    Have I to close the clients before the server reconnects?
    Thank you.
    Regards.

    Is that one of those Windows built-in firewalls or a real one? With >firewall I was thinking of it getting overwhelmed by too many >connections.the firewall is in other computer.
    How many connections per second do you get? If there are hundreds >it could still be listen queue. The default length is 50 (unless the OS >forces it smaller) which should be enough for most situations.In this moment, there are 183 connections, one in ESTABLISHED and the rest in CLOSE_WAIT, but today it doesn't produce the error. Per second it must have few connections.
    Run "netstat -n". Are there tens of thousands of connections in >TIME_WAIT or something? Or just open sockets? Is there a related >error message in system log files (Unix) or Control panel -> >Admininstrative -> Event Viewer (Windows)? There aren't events in the viewer.
    The server gets no >exceptions (you are careful to log everything)? I'm thinking of running >out of file/socket descriptors or socket buffers or something.When in the client appears this error, in the server doesn't appear anything
    When you get the error does it start working after a while >automatically? I'm thinking if it is listen queue overflow that should >clear itself automatically.No, I have to close the program and open again. If the program detects it and intents close server socket and open directly, it produces Address already in use: JVM_Bind.
    When the socket "breaks" run "telnet localhost ThePortNumber" on >the server computer - does it connect? Run "netstat -n" on the server, >is there a LISTENING entry for the socket?I probe the next time
    I don't think server sockets suddenly somehow spontaneously break.Ok, it can reach the limit, but then mi question is how open again the server socket

    Sorry, to use such short forms in forums as i dont know much about this. i rarly use java forum. well, i removed the code that i gave u for server starting. but still it is giving me the same error. this time i put it in a java bean file.(Hint "u" is just another short form).
    Did you try the suggestion to put a log statement just before you start the server? Or put a breakpoint at that line and see how often it is reached.
    Because the only reason for this problem is that something is already listening at that port.
    And if there's really nothing listening before you start you application, then only your application itself can listen there already, so the logical conclusion for me would be that you're starting the Server twice.

    First, you need to copy all of your purchased content so it is on the same Mac or PC with iTunes. This computer should be the one you sync your device with. For more information on how to move your content, see these articles:

    I am trying to change the email address associated with my existing account to free up my university email address for use in obtaining Creative Cloud.  Every time I go to the account settings of my existing account (which currently uses my university email, as I set it up years ago and had no idea it'd eventually cause problems), I enter a different email to use for that account but I continuously receive an error message saying "account changes cannot be saved."  It makes me think that it's because the email isn't verified (funny, it actually is verified since it has been the alternate email on the old account for years), but when I click the "send verification email" nothing happens (that is, no email is sent to that other email address).
    Anyway, my university is now requiring that faculty create new accounts using our university email addresses in order to register/use Creative Cloud.  Am I able to delete my old account, or can anyone help me actually change the email address associated with my old account without getting a "changes can't be saved" error?

  • I installed Mountain Lion so that I could sync my notes with my iPhone that already syncs notes with a specific email address I use for school, but during the install it automatically set up Notes to sync w the wrong email addy. How can I fix it?

    I installed Mountain Lion so that I could sync my notes with my iPhone that already syncs notes with a specific email address I use for school, but during the install it automatically set up Notes to sync w the wrong email addy. It looked in Mail, which had 5 email accounts set up in it, and for some reason picked the only one that I no longer use because it is for a school that I no longer attend. How can I fix it so that it syncs with the correct email account for notes and calendar? There don't seem to be any settings available other than to check if you want to use the basic features. It also said during the set up that it was setting up 'find my mac' but if I look on the iCloud website there is nothing showing there for finding my mac.
    At this point I feel like I wasted my money paying for this supposed upgrade. I got nothing for it but frustration. It even automatically set my security settings to allow only downloads from the Mac store so the first time I went to download something I had to stop what I was doing and go correct settings first. I feel like there should be a security setting to block downloads from the Mac store so I don't accidentally end up clicking the wrong thing and being charged.

    iCloud isn't syncing them on your phone.  You simply added the email account to your phone and enabled calendar and notes syncing with the email provider, and the calendar and notes appear in the calendar and notes apps on your phone.  You can do this with Gmail, Yahoo and other IMAP account.  iCloud email is just another IMAP account, but syncs notes with Apple's iCloud server just as Gmail syncs notes and calendars with Google's server.
    iCloud didnt' set up a non-iCloud account on your Mac.  When you check Mail in System Preferences>iCloud, it only creates an iCloud email account.  You can also add other email accounts to your Mac by going to System Preferences>Mail,Contacts,Calendars and clicking on the "+" sign on the bottom of the left sidebar.  If you added these other email accounts to your Mac before you upgraded to Mountain Lion, these were simply maintained on your Mac after you upgraded.
