Address label printing

Hi,
I have a requirement to print standard address labels on some "AVERY" sticky labels (NoJ8163)
Can someone please advise me on the best way to do this? I am struggling to the the address information into the boxes. My sample XML is below
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<LABELS_TOP>
<LABELS>
<HEADER_NAME>Customer 1</HEADER_NAME>
<ADDRESS_LINE1>Customer 1 address 1</ADDRESS_LINE1>
<ADDRESS_LINE2>Customer 1 address 2</ADDRESS_LINE2>
<ADDRESS_LINE3></ADDRESS_LINE3>
<ADDRESS_LINE4></ADDRESS_LINE4>
<ADDRESS_LINE5></ADDRESS_LINE5>
<ADDRESS_LINE6></ADDRESS_LINE6>
<LABEL1>Code 1</LABEL1>
<LABEL2></LABEL2>
<LABEL3></LABEL3>
</LABELS>
<LABELS>
<HEADER_NAME>Customer2</HEADER_NAME>
<ADDRESS_LINE1>Customer 2 address 1</ADDRESS_LINE1>
<ADDRESS_LINE2>Customer 2 address 2</ADDRESS_LINE2>
<ADDRESS_LINE3>customer 2 address 3</ADDRESS_LINE3>
<ADDRESS_LINE4></ADDRESS_LINE4>
<ADDRESS_LINE5></ADDRESS_LINE5>
<ADDRESS_LINE6></ADDRESS_LINE6>
<LABEL1>Code 1</LABEL1>
<LABEL2>Code 2</LABEL2>
<LABEL3></LABEL3>
</LABELS>
</LABELS_TOP>
I generate the xml using PL/SQL, and always put all of the address tags in, even if there is no data present.
Currently i have tried using a single RTF page with one 2 columns and 1 row. In each column i have the following syntax
<?for-each:LABELS[position() mod 2=1]?>
<?HEADER_NAME?>
<?ADDRESS_LINE1?>
<?ADDRESS_LINE2?>
<?ADDRESS_LINE3?>
<?ADDRESS_LINE4?>
<?ADDRESS_LINE5?>
<?ADDRESS_LINE6?>
and in column 2 i have
<?for-each:LABELS[position() mod 2=0]?>
<?HEADER_NAME?>
<?ADDRESS_LINE1?>
<?ADDRESS_LINE2?>
<?ADDRESS_LINE3?>
<?ADDRESS_LINE4?>
<?ADDRESS_LINE5?>
<?ADDRESS_LINE6?>
This does not display correctly as sometimes different amounts of address information are available.
Any assistance would be most appreciated, and i think this must have been done before as it is quite a common request.
Thanks
Rupesh

Thanks - i have found some other posts, and there is an example of what you suggest (using multi columns) in the xml publisher report developers guide.
Thanks for your help

  • Address Label Printing Problem

    How can I create address labels for printing using Palm Desktop by Access Version 6.2.2?
    I recently changed to Palm Desktop by Access Version 6.2.2 and can no longer print mailing labels as I could using an older Palm Desktop version (4.1.? I believe).  I previously used Solution ID: 33579, Printing address labels from your Palm device's Contacts (mail merge), but now when I right-click on a highlighted list of records in Desktop 6.2.2, the option "Send to..." does not appear, so I cannot proceed to an Excel spreadsheet as I previously did.
    Post relates to: Treo 650 (Verizon)

    This is another of several features that Access decided wasn't necessary in Palm Desktop 6.2.2....
    Why did you change to 6.2.2?  It was designed for Vista users.

  • Address Label print fields

    When I print labels from Address Book, some label names appear as "*First Last and Spouse", and some names appear as simply First Last name on the card without the spouse listed. How do I select the fields I want to appear on the label? and why are they not consistent from card to card?

    See this link I fixed it by making custom related name field called "Spouse" with a capital S.
    It is crazy that they made it this way.

  • Address labels printing all addresses instead of the ones chosen...

    I created a group and when I was ready to print addresses from the group, I went to "edit distribution list" so that I could choose the correct address for the contacts that had multiple addresses. After sifting through 280 contacts, it still printed all addresses within that group.
    Any suggestions?

    Are you changing the 'Addresses:' drop down every time you try to print the distribution list? I don't think it will remember that setting, I think it reverts back to 'All'.
    I have two lists that I do a monthly mailing for. I only had to go through the edit distribution list once for each group, to pick which address to use, but every time I go to print the labels, I have to go back to the 'Label' tab and change the drop down from All to Distribution List (__).

    CAB,
    The 5163 template has the following dimensional specs:
    Dimensions & Info
    Length: 4.00000"          Height: 2.00000"
    Top Margin: 0.50000"          Bottom Margin: 0.50000"
    Left Margin: 0.18000"          Right Margin: 0.18000"
    Hor. Spacing (gutter): 0.14000"          Vert. Spacing (gutter): 0.00000"
    Intended Use: Mailing Labels, Shipping Labels, Address Labels
    There's a great vendor site with this data readily available, better than the Avery site in my opinion. But, you can get the same info in the Contacts Print dialog pane.
    You can grab a template matching these dimensions from that vendor site, Copy the table after opening the Word Template in Pages and drop the into a blank Numbers Sheet.
    I found that Sheet side margins of 0.15" worked better than 0.18. For some reason the table wanted to flow to the next page to the right with 0.18". Turning off the Headers and Footers and setting Top and Bottom Margins to 0.5" worked well. These adjustments are made in the Sheets Inspector.
    So, that will put the template you specified into a Numbers document and you can print labels properly aligned from there. Since your problem statement is a bit lacking in detail, that's all I can offer you at this point.

  • How can I make Address Book print labels how I want, or export to Word?

    I have found a number of serious problems with Address Book, which unless I can overcome them mean it is entirely useless for me. Almost all are to do with creating mailing labels or envelopes:
    1.I can't find any way of defining a sheet format for labels different from those on the pre-defined list. My labels are in 2 columns of 8, on a sheet 12” long by 8” wide, margins 0.5mm top and bottom, and ½” left and right. The labels themselves are 3½” x1½”. Address Book can't do it. It is odd that this is so restrictive, whereas with envelopes one has total flexibility.
    2.Although I can define which address I want to print on each label or envelope, I can't find a way of defining which field should be used for the first (name) line. It always consists of the First and Last names as recorded on each card. This is not what I want. For different mailings, I want to use different first lines, as in many cases each card is the address of a family group, the First and Last names simply recording the names of the parents e.g., John and Mary Smith. But for my Christmas mailing I want to print 'The Smith Family', whereas for my charity mailshots I want to print 'Mrs Mary Smith', as she is the charity supporter, not her husband or children.
    3.The address layout seems to be fixed, with each element on a separate line. This is not how I want to print, as in some cases it makes for too many lines, particularly on labels. I want to put the zip/post-code on the same line as the county or state, separated by about ½”. But I can't see how to dictate the layout at all. On labels there is a further problem, in that I can't define a vertical and/or horizontal off-set for the text.
    4.The Country does not print at all on labels, making the application quite useless for foreign mailings, and I can't find a way of overcoming this. Over half our mailing addresses are affected by this.
    5. And another problem really puts the final cherry on the icing of this cake: There is no way I can find of exporting the data from the address book in a format, e.g. a csv file, that I can bring into a word processor where I could do these mailings how I want them. Not only does the box fail to do what I need, it is also locked.
    I don't understand why, having set up Address Book on the database principle that one should have have to record each contact only once no matter how many ways one needs to use the data, it seems it has then been implemented in a way that prevents it being used in one of the most obvious ways, to print addresses in a format of the user's choice.
    The Applecare adviser tells me the problems I have can't be overcome. Is that right, or is she, and I missing something? Please help.

    "It's Christmas card time again and the fact that Address Book is useless for this purpose is really frustrating."
    While I sympathise with the functionality of Address Book, I'm old-fashioned enough to write my cards and envelopes by hand (shock! horror!) and get quite p***-off to receive bulk-printed stuff.
    Just a thought, peeps.
    It'd be all too easy to follow that up with a cheapshot making reference to how many Christmas cards you have to send, but I'll rise above that and explain that some of us might want to use this for business contacts and have 300+ cards to address.
    It is a shame that the printing feature from Address Book is so close, yet so far from performing this simple task. It is a shame that Pages can run mail merge, but only for one record per page (which is useless for label printing). It is also a shame that MS Word for Mac does proper labels but doesn't recognise Address Book as a datasource.
    These things are all a shame because with Apple's software, you rather expect things to "just work", as per their advertising, and when very simple things don't "just work", it difficult not to feel cheated.

    Label Printing Using Address Book - How can I Print multiple labels of the same name?

    I used to be able to print multiple copies of the same picture on one page using iphoto. There was a customise button when you went through to print and it was there somewhere. I can't see it anymore - maybe since an upgrade.
    It's gone. But as a work-around, duplicate your photo (⌘D) to create as many versions as you want copies and select all at once. Then use the "Custom" print layout and set the photo size you want.
    After printing, trash the added versions.

  • How to print avery address labels 5160

    Sorry but I am not finding the right steps after reading several pieces of advice on this,
    and am wondering if this is all different after upgrading to Lion.  I know I simply printed
    labels at the holidays, but the types of Avery templates no longer shows up under
    address labels on the print "layout" choices.  I do now have Pages, but they don't have
    a mailing label option (why???) and I can no longer use Microsoft Word since upgrading
    to Lion. Help! Can someone put this in really simple steps for me please?

    Pages v5 does not play nice with current Avery label templates in Word format. Pages v5 does not natively perform mail merge without adapting a third-party AppleScript solution.
    Labelist 8 is in the OS X App Store for USD $20. It is comprehensive, label software. Download button on their site gives you a free, full functional, 30-day trial. Recommend you consider Labelist over any Pages v5 kludge. Your time has a value.

  • Addressbook - printing full page address labels

    Here's a helpful tip for those trying to print Avery label sheets of the same address using the included Avery printing function in Addressbook: (ie: 80 of the same label on a single 5167 sheet)
    Create a group.
    Create a new card with the address etc...
    Select the card in the second column.
    Copy.
    Paste 9 times, to create a total of 10 identical cards in the group.
    Select All.
    Copy.
    Paste 7 times to create a total of 80 cards in the group.
    Print.
    Select save as PDF from the Print dialog.
    With this document, you should now be able to print full sheets of address labels from Adobe Acrobat Reader.

    Hi Rodger_
    Thank you for the additional information, it was helpful.
    I was speaking with one of my colleagues and we would like you to try the following steps. Once you have completed the steps please try printing again.
    1)    Please reset your printing system, I have included a document on how to do this. Please be aware that this reset deletes all print settings and pending print jobs from your Mac.
    2)    In the "Printers & Scanners" please click on the '+' and choose "Add another printer or scanner from the options (see screen shot)
    3)    Choose your Laserjet CM1415fnw and at the bottom where it says "USE" please change it to the HP Laserjet (see screen shot) instead of AirPrint

    How do I print a sheet of different address labels?

    I've just upgraded to Mountain Lion on my iMac. Here's what I've found.
    To print labels, select the addresses you want to print using Contacts.
    Go to File>Print. In the resulting dialog box, click on Show Details.
    In the middle of the resulting box, click on Style and select 'labels'.
    Just below the Style entry are Layout and Label. Select them in turn to choose
    the details you want, including the type of label you'll use. I use the Avery 5160
    and select it for the proper format.
    Turn on your printer, insert a full sheet of labels and print.
    Note: I have yet to figure out how to start printing on any label besides
    number 1. Because of this problem, I don't use Contacts to print labels,
    I usually use an old Palm program, now gone in Mountain Lion, or
    pearLabelizer, a free program I got on the 'net.

    How do I print return address labels

    Hello madrinky,
    Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
    For more information on this, take a look at:
    Contacts: Print contact information
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11608
    Mailing labels:
    Click Layout and choose a label type from the Page pop-up menu. To set page margins and gutter space between labels, and how many labels to print per page, choose Define Custom.
    Click Label and choose the address to print from the Addresses pop-up menu (for example, print a label for each contact’s home address). Use other Label options to specify the print order, include a company for business mailings or a country for international mailings, or add a graphic.
    Best of luck,
