ADF 10.1.3 to ADF 11.1.1.2.0: Migration problem

Hi all,
I have an 10.x application built on ADF business component for model layer (no DB, only webservices) and ADF-JSF for view layer.
I'm now trying to migrate the application to JDeveloper 11, and have got few errors during migration (I used standart wizard comes with JDeveloper 11),
but most nasty thing that I cannot build Model layer after migration - build process throws such errors:
"{class name} is already defined in this compilation unit"
all classes extend oracle.jbo.server.ViewRowImpl.
I verified and model source structure has not been changed since migration.
What could be the problem?
Thanks

Hi Guys,
thank you very much for the advices - I reorganized the libraries and had to refactor a bit of Model source code in order to make it compiled:
basically I had to change *VOImpl classes -  added dependency on Row interface. I'm wondered why there is no a clear Migration guide which enlists such issues.
Also, if your 10.x project heavily relies on af:region - forget about smooth migration.
Now I''m trying to use Model in a new View module - will put some notes here.
Thanks,
Anton

  • Migration of ADF table selection code to Trinidad code problem with RowKeySet

    we found a conversion problem as described below in one of the java files related to Manual UI.
        public void setPsdTable(CoreTable psdTable) {
            this.psdTable = psdTable;
            if (globalBean.isResetCreateRequestPsdQuarters()){
       ADF -code         this.psdTable.setSelectionState(new RowKeySet());
       Trinidad code     this.psdTable.setSelectedRowKeys(new RowKeySet());
                globalBean.setResetCreateRequestPsdQuarters(false);
    In Trinidad RowKeySet is abstract class whereas in ADF the same is normal class. Hence I found the below error message.
    Error(364,45): org.apache.myfaces.trinidad.model.RowKeySet is abstract; cannot be instantiated
    Please guide me if you have an idea on how to change the adf statement to Trinidad code statement “this.psdTable.setSelectionState(new RowKeySet());”

    Hi,
    which "4. click on back button." ? If its the browser back button then this only navigates back the UI not the server state of an application.

  • ADF/Swing/JClient application migration problem from 10.1.3.5 to 11.1.1.3

    Hi,
    I am migrating an application from JDev 10.1.3.5 to 11.1.1.3 in order to deploy it to a java 1.6 JVM which is only certified with JDev 11.1.1.3
    No matter what I do the DataBindings.cpx file content is emptied by the IDE, the migration was successful => no errors displayed.
    I tried to solve the problem by doing the following but the file stays empty:
    1) the removing the project from the application and adding it again, migration is done again => FILE EMPTY
    2) adding manually the content in the source file then running XML validation => no errors, I close the file, reopen it and EMPTY AGAIN!
    Your is needed and will be appreciated!
    Thanks

    Ok it seems I have resolved my problem see end of thread
    Still have following relevant question for an Oracle team member:
    Why is my <pageMap/> empty in my migrated application cpx file?
    => when I create a new ADF Swing application this tag is not empty:
    in new file:
    <pageMap>
    <page path="view.PanelPhotolabVO1" usageId="view_PanelPhotolabVO1PageDef"/>
    </pageMap>
    <pageDefinitionUsages>
    <page id="view_PanelPhotolabVO1PageDef"
    path="view.pageDefs.PanelPhotolabVO1PageDef"/>
    in migrated file:
    <pageMap/>
    <pageDefinitionUsages>
    <page id="PanelWeventEditParamVO1UIModel"
    path="com.photoswing.view.web.PanelWeventEditParamVO1UIModel"/>
    Solution to empty migrated cpx file:
    It seems the migration utility couldn't cope with the BC4JDataControl definitions, so I edited them manually.
    Example of 10.1.3... syntax:
    <dataControlUsages>
    <BC4JDataControl Configuration="BaseTablesAMLocal"
    Package="com.xxx.model.system"
    xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adfm/datacontrol"
    id="BaseTablesAMDataControl"
    FactoryClass="oracle.adf.model.bc4j.DataControlFactoryImpl"
    syncMode="Immediate">
    <Parameters>
    <Parameter name="FactoryClass"
    value="oracle.adf.model.bc4j.DataControlFactoryImpl"/>
    <Parameter name="SupportsFindMode" value="true"/>
    <Parameter name="Configuration" value="BaseTablesAMLocal"/>
    <Parameter name="SupportsTransactions" value="true"/>
    <Parameter name="Package" value="com.photoswing.model.system"/>
    <Parameter name="SubType" value="DCBC4J"/>
    <Parameter name="Name" value="BaseTablesAMDataControl"/>
    <Parameter name="id" value="BaseTablesAMDataControl"/>
    </Parameters>
    </BC4JDataControl>
    New syntax:
    <BC4JDataControl id="BaseTablesAMDataControl"
    Package="com.xxx.model.system"
    FactoryClass="oracle.adf.model.bc4j.DataControlFactoryImpl"
    SupportsTransactions="true" SupportsFindMode="true"
    SupportsRangesize="true" SupportsResetState="true"
    SupportsSortCollection="true"
    Configuration="BaseTablesAMLocal" syncMode="Immediate"
    ExceptionMode="Immediate"
    xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adfm/datacontrol"/>
    Tip:
    Do this editing outside JDev with ide closed to avoid crashing it.

  • TP4 reusing ADF library migration problem

    Hello,
    I have an application containing multiple Business Components and View Controller projects.
    Common functionality is shared as ADF library between view controller projects. The applicatio was created with TP3 and is working just fine. When ported to TP4, it seems that part of the functionality shared as ADF library is not working.
    To be more specific: the login page is using a backing bean to check the authentication details against the database. The following code is working properly:
            appModule =
                    (ApplicationModule)((DCBindingContainer)getBindings()).getDataControl().getApplicationModule();But, when accessing the BC module from a phase listener using the following code:
            DataControl dc = event.getLifecycleContext()
                .getBindingContext()
                .findDataControl("SharedModuleDataControl"); DataControl is null.
    The same phase listener is working properly when used within the project it was created (and not as imported ADF library)
    Once again, this is happening with TP4, with TP3 everything is working fine.
    Thanks,
    Florin Marcus

    Gabrielle,
    The root of the problem is that JDeveloper makes a copy of the adf-faces-impl.jar in the WEB-INF\lib directory in your project directory. So what was happening is the project contained to old version of this library that still referenced the "selected" attribute. When you built and then ran the project against the new runtime libraries that no longer had this "selected" attribute, the error occurred.
    So the solution to this problem would be for JDeveloper to not copy these libraries into your project directory or to detect that the version has changed and warn you or prompt you to copy the libraries again.

  • ADF BC / JBO-25009 BlobDomain / file upload problem

    That's terrible problem, what time the Oracle is planning to solve it for? else what can we do?
    Mucahid Uslu

    Hi Frank,
    I know it is not a bug, just i think why does not the blob type handle as easy as other datatypes, so it requiers additional handlers.(because i am using jheadstart, it creates easily :)
    also i've found your article about download and upload files at following link;

  • ADF Security to J2EE Container Managed Security Problems

    Hi al!
    I had ADF security enabled in my application. I've added roles and users to embedded OC4J Server Preferences..., configured authorization using pageDefs... (following the Introduction to ADF Security in JDeveloper 10.1.3.2 howto).
    For the sake of friendlier user and roles management I decided to go to 2EE Container Managed Security (I want application manager in production environment to be able to manage users in only one place, not in DB table and extra for web app). I followed Frank Nimphius's Database Authentication and Authorization in J2EE Container Managed Security article.
    Now I have some problems. I removed users and roles from embedded OC4J Server Preferences... (I believe this are used only for ADF security, am I right?). I can log to application with admin user account (app index page doesn't have any binds and even pageDef), but when trying to access admin pages I get 401 Unauthorized page.
    What am I doing wrong, probably I've forgotten something? I'm a bit confused now with users and roles settings and ADF and container managed security.

    Do I have to remove this adfAuthentication tags?
    I know I've made things a bit complicated for me now and for anyone to help, but I hope I will get at least some pointers what to do now and maybe some explanation about roles in container managed security? Is it enaugh to have security constraints and roles defined in web.xml file or they have to be defined somewhere else also (beside the database)?
    Thank you in advance!

    FINE: [DBTableOraDataSourceLoginModule]Cleaning internal state!

    Hi there!
    I have another question about this. I've modified a bit DBRolePrincipal class to see what's going on. At the beginning of the equals(Object another) method I added this lines:
    log("method equals start",0);
    log("another type = " + another.getClass(), 0);
    if (another instanceof Principal)
    Principal mine = (Principal)another;
    log("Principal mine.getName() = " + mine.getName(), 0);
    The result is this output (after navigating to page that gives 401 forbidden):
    07/10/12 08:38:36 [DBRolePrincipal] method equals start
    07/10/12 08:38:36 [DBRolePrincipal] another type = class oracle.security.jazn.oc4j.JAZNUserAdaptor

  • ADF Mobile sample - palm simulator and jar problem

    Hello.
    I got a few problems with ADF mobile tutorial. (http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/101/tutorials/wireless/mobile2.html)
    1.     Palm Simulator has no web browser.
    As per description under ‘Prerequisites’ I downloaded the newest Palm Simulator (and some older version too). My Palm Simulator has no web browser. I found nothing how to add or enable web browser. In tutorial screenshots the Palm Simulator has always a browser.
    Where can I get a Palm Simulator with web browser or where can I get a free PPC Simulator for testing my application?
    2.     Incompatible jar-files.
    I’m using JDeveloper 10.1.3.0.4.3673. I think this is the newest version. Mobile.zip contains adf-faces-impl.jar and jsf-impl.jar. Both files have version 10.1.3.0.5. JDeveloper contains this files too. But version is 10.1.3.0.4! On starting oc4j I got an error with information about this version conflict.
    What is wrong on my environment? Did I miss important files? I found no newer ADF files at oracle web site. My solution is to replace the files in Mobile.zip with the older files from JDeveloper.
    With best regards
    C. Schmülling

    Hello Christian,
    The Palm simulator doesn't include a Web browser by default, You have to install it> Here is the URL where you can download the software: http://www.palmos.com/dev/tech/webbrowser/
    Concerning the jar-files it shouldn't be a problem. Just use the jar versions delivered with the Mobile.zip and it should run.

  • ADF Faces af:showOneTab component - Mozilla Firefox problem

    I'm new to ADF Faces.
    I made simple subpage flow with showOneTabs component. It looks like thist:
    <f:view>
    <afh:html>
    <afh:head title="title"/>
    <afh:body>
    <af:panelPage>
    <f:facet name="pageHeader">
    <af:form id="formNavigate">
    <af:panelGroup type="vertical">
    <af:showOneTabs position="above">
    <af:showDetailItem text="Tab1">
    <jsp:include page="sub1.jsp"/>
    </af:showDetailItem>
    <af:showDetailItem text="Tab2">
    <jsp:include page="sub2.jsp"/>
    </af:showDetailItem>
    Subpages (sub1.jsp and sub2.jsp) looks like this:
    <afh:html>
    <afh:body>
    <af:outputText value="sub1"/>
    and it works fine. But only with IE. When try to swith to Tab2 in Mozilla Forefox 0.9 nothig happends. Anyone knows why.
    Regards
    bhs

    Get rid of the <afh:html> and <afh:body> in sub1.jsp and sub2.jsp; you can't have <HTML> and <BODY> inside other <HTML> and <BODY> tags.

  • ADF FACES: af:selectBooleanCheckbox with simple="true" problems

    I have an af:selectBooleanCheckbox tied to a simple boolean model value. It has a partialTrigger set for another field and its simple property is set "true." In this configuration, a change in the field identified by the partialTrigger does NOT cause the checkbox to re-render. From debug messages, I can see that the value is being properly fetched from the model, but the rendered state is not changing (meaning when the underlying boolean value changes, the checkbox state is not changing).
    Here are the two controls in question (note in this example the value of the caller.nonMember boolean is simply a test of caller.memberId == null):
    <af:selectBooleanCheckbox text="Non-member" simple="true" value="#{pageFlowScope.newCase.caller.nonMember}" partialTriggers="callermemberid"/>
    <af:inputText label="FHM Member Id:" value="#{pageFlowScope.newCase.caller.memberId}" columns="10" binding="#{newReferralCase.compCallerMemberId}" id="callermemberid" autoSubmit="true"/>
    If I change "simple" to "false," then the check box properly re-renders on each change in the member id field.
    Is this expected behavior when simple=true? I didn't expect a behavior change based on the documentation which just states that the message and label sub-components will not be used.
    Thanks.

    It's not expected behavior, and I can reproduce it. I've filed a bug; thanks for the report.

  • JDev and ADF is difficult

    As a new user to ADF I am finding ADF and JDev a little discouraging and hard to use. I did a search on how to improve jdev's performance and found a lot of useful tips and tricks to use, but I pose the question. Shouldn't it just work out of the box? Coming from a web 2.0 background developing EE applications using Spring, JPA/Hibernate, Extjs, and netbeans I keep thinking to myself wow how in the world should I have known that changing this or that table attribute causes this or that to behave differently. For example I read a thread on multi-selecting table rows and in this article multiselect selectedRowKeys must be removed for multi select to perform correctly. Now I realize this is a simple example, but I find myself asking the same types of questions about dragging and dropping views into jdev or mapping bindings to pages so that I can gain access to data. I can relate to some angry posts by some about how difficult it is to develop anything useful in JDev and ADF because of a series of random problems (things like running OOM, or mapping bindings to a page which then for some reason map incorrectly or they think they are mapped to another page, etc...) Now I can already hear the first response... you are new to this world (yes) and you just need time. What if I told you I've been reading so much documentation over the past month that my eyes are bleeding. I've been through countless tutorials on how to use JDev and ADF. I've successfully created "Sample applications" generating useless tables of data. I've read several books on ADF and how to button click my way to creating EE applications, but I find the memorization of button clicking to be exhausting. I keep telling my boss I want to go back to writing code not dragging and dropping items on a page so that JDev can generate/modify .xml files for me.
    Now that said I know I am new to this world and I'm trying to find some common ground as my job requires me to develop EE applications in ADF, and I must learn this technology. So I ask all of you ADF and JDev advocates prove me wrong here and point me to the documentation that all of you use to navigate this world of yours.
    Thanks for your understand,

    First off thank you for the response Shay!
    >
    Getting used to the way you build applications with JDev and ADF takes time, but think how much time did it took you to learn Spring, JPA, ExtJS etc to a level where you knew every little setting you needed to manually code in a spring XML file, or JPQL query syntax in your JPA or a javascript in ExtJS - My guess was that getting to a situation where you know everything in those technology wasn't exactly a problem less experience.
    >
    It is true it took some time to learn the technologies listed above. I guess If I were arguing for them I would say they were easier to use and learn due to most of them being open source and very popular because of this (i.e tons of examples, books, and documentation). Not sure if ADF is there yet?
    >
    I do like the fact that I can get from 0 to a fully functional page with a few clicks here and there, and then fine tune the results with some property settings in various places.
    And then if I need even further customization I can go to the code level when needed.
    >
    I agree it takes very little time to create something that is at least visually usable. I'm not familiar enough ADF yet to determine now hard it is to actually create a fully functioning application that does more than display data. For example, how would I create a visualization that updates every 10 seconds and allows users to post feedback in a similar manner to this forum?
    >
    The question of whether the declarative and visual development experience is a good thing or not is to some degree a matter of personal preferences.
    I wonder how long would it have taken someone to build something like this: http://download.oracle.com/otn_hosted_doc/jdeveloper/11gdemos/ADF112/ADF112.html
    with the stack you mentioned above. How many lines of code would they have needed to write, how many syntax errors while coding, and would the result be as functional so fast.
    >
    Agree I'm not hear to argue which type of development experience is better or worse. I would point out however that as a JDev/ADF developer in order to develop in the technology it seems you must do most of your development within the JDev environment or have extensive experience in JSF (i.e know which xml files to edit and why I believe there is a reason JSF and JSP are seldom used IMHO because they are difficult. I understand JDev/ADF try to solve this problem) were as in other technologies you as the developer can choose the IDE etc. Another thing I noticed while watching the link you listed was the developer went from place to place to place within jdev making changes. As a newbie it seems that in order to develop ADF in JDev you must just "know things" (ie. for example he pulled in a method in to the task flow so he could invoke some validation or prereq check. As a developer how am I to know how and where and why I can/must do these things? ADF seems to be process based in order to achieve some goal, but the JDev framework gives no clues as to what you should/need to do next. As well as that I needed to create that method within my Application Module in order to do this, which by the way was not mentioned within this video.).
    >
    We often see the reaction of "I don't get what all those XML files that JDev generate are doing" reaction from people who just start up with JDev and ADF.
    But we do try and explain how everything is working in places like the ADF Insider Advanced seminars:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/adf/learnmore/adfinsider-093342.html
    I think the fact that there is a lot of documentation for ADF, and a lot of blog entries, how-to's etc on the web is actually a good thing.
    I often find that if I run into an issue with ADF - a simple google search will show me how someone else solved that issue - and I like this too.
    >
    I guess my biggest gripe here would be yes there is tons of JDev/ADF documentation on OTN and other places, but none of it is complete, and I would also argue that the organization on OTN is half hazard, and makes learning ADF difficult as well. I find myself drilling down through layers and layers of links only to not be able to get back to were I came from to look at another topic/tutorial I was interested in(maybe we need a ADF train to be added to the documentation wikis).
    I would also argue when developing in other frameworks writing the xml is a big part to understanding how your application is tied together. For example, Spring servlet mapping or Spring injection mapping. When JDev does the mapping for me I feel that I know less and less about how my application works and I bet all the advanced ADF developers out there know quite a bit about how ADF xml mapping occurs and why, and I bet they make changes to these xml files manually quite often to get things to work as they desire?
    I want to be clear here I am not trying to flaming here, just trying to make a difference for other developers like myself who come along and need to learn ADF to complete some task. Looking at the OTN site I believe creating documentation for ADF development appears to be a top priority, but due to the complexity of the framework there is just so much and it seems to be everywhere. My suggestion would be to include why we are doing such and such with in jdev approach instead of a drag this here to do this approach. For example, I'd like to see a tutorial where it explains when you drag this item in to the content window it creates this xml bind which is the same as what you would normally do in JSF like this (if anyone knows of such a tutorial plz link).
    Again thanks for the reply, and I encourage others to give feedback and suggestions on how I too can become a better JDev/ADF developer.

  • Can I obtain access token from ADFS 3.0 based on OAuth ACS-token that I already have?

    Hello!
    I have the following setup: iOS device, ACS/WAAD is IDP and ADFS 3.0 as RP, securing access to WIF web service.
    I want iOS application users to be able to access ADFS-protected web-service.
    I have created some users in WAAD, configured trust between ACS IDP and ADFS RP.
    ADFS is registered in WAAD with AppID = ADFSAppID
    I am doing the following request in order to obtain authorization token for iOS app user from ACS:
    const string issuerName = "[email protected]";
    const string issuerPassword = "Password!23";
    var authContext = new AuthenticationContext("https://login.windows.net/ADFSAppID");
    var uc = new UserCredential(issuerName, issuerPassword);
    var result = authContext.AcquireToken("http://adfs.appdomain.com/adfs/services/trust",
    "ADFSAppID",
    uc);
    _authHeader = result.CreateAuthorizationHeader();
    So, I have a token from ACS in JWT format.
    Now I need to present this token to ADFS in order to obtain a new token that I can use to access the web-service. I am trying the following POST-query:
    https://adfs.appdomain.com/adfs/oauth2/token?grant_type=authorization_code&code={0}&client_id=ADFSAppID&redirect_uri=http://web_service_url
    However, when I try accessing web service with that token, I am getting 403:unauthorized and redirected back to ADFS.
    I have already tries lots of code solutions, such as
    http://leastprivilege.com/2010/10/28/wif-adfs-2-and-wcfpart-6-chaining-multiple-token-services/
    http://www.cloudidentity.com/blog/2013/07/30/securing-a-web-api-with-windows-server-2012-r2-adfs-and-katana/
    http://blog.scottlogic.com/2015/03/09/OAUTH2-Authentication-with-ADFS-3.0.html
    But somehow the problem remains: I cannot get such authentication token from ADFS that it is accepted by my webservice as a valid token.
    Can anybody provide any links or code samples of token exchange between ACS and ADFS?

    Yes, it is. I was able to authenticate normally, if I am using ADFS as IdP for WIF RP.
    But when Azure is IdP for ADFS-protected WIF WS, I am unable to get tokens that would be accepted by WIF WS

  • How to deploy a secured ADF 11g application to WebLogic 10.3 server?

    Hi,
    I have just enabled security in our ADF 11g application, as descripbed in [chapter 29|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/web.1111/b31974/adding_security.htm#insertedID0] of the Fusion Developer's Guide. It works fine in the embedded WebLogic server of JDeveloper.
    Now I'm trying to deploy to our WebLogic 10.3 server, which runs in production mode. I'm running into all sorts of problems. The WebLogic console seems to have hundreds of security related pages, I don't know which one I should use, let alone how to use it. The Fusion Developer's Guide doesn't cover deployment to a production server:
    >
    When the target server is configured for production mode, you typically handle the migration task outside of JDeveloper using tools like Oracle Enterprise Manager. For details about using tools outside of JDeveloper to migrate the policy store to the domain-level in a production environment, see the [Oracle Fusion Middleware Security Guide|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/core.1111/e10043/toc.htm].
    >
    However, this guide is of very little help to me. I found [chapter 7|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E12839_01/core.1111/e10043/addlsecfea.htm#insertedID0], which says "The recommended tool is Fusion Middleware Control." I have no idea what "Fusion Middleware Control" is, where to get it and how to use it.
    Long story short: I'm totally lost. I'm looking for a step by step guide on how to deploy a secured ADF 11g application to a WegLogic 10.3 server that is running in production mode. Any help is highly appreciated.

    Ok, I found a [very helpful blog post |http://andrejusb.blogspot.com/2009/01/practical-adf-security-deployment-on.html] by [Andrejus Baranovski|http://www.blogger.com/profile/04468230464412457426]. I wish Oracle's documentation was as clear as this...
    The blog post refers to an article by Steve Muench, called [Simplified ADF 11g Application Credential and Policy Migration to Standalone WebLogic Servers|http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/jdev/tips/muench/credmig111100/index.html]. This article presents an Ant script that migrates policies from JDeveloper to WebLogic, using some PFM. (See the last definition here.)
    The problem is that Steve Muench's script assumes that JDeveloper and the standalone WebLogic are on the same machine. However, in a typical environment, such as the one I'm working in currently, this is not the case. In our case the developer stations are Windows machines, while our WebLogic server runs on a HP-UX machine. So the question is: how to perform this migration between two machines with different operating systems?

    Hi,
        We are building ADF custom applications and want to integrate them with EBS R12 (12.1.3) through Responsibilities and Menus.
    We have achieved session sharing and launching the Custom ADF app from EBS menu. The problem is, the Custom ADF page opens in the same page.
    Is there anyway to open the ADF application in new tab or window while launching from EBS Menu ?
    Highly appreciate your help on this.
    Thanks,
    Ananthakumar

    Bhaskar,

  • Running JSF/ADF web apps in JDeveloper 10.1.3.0.3 embedded OC4J

    Dear All,
    I am currently learning to use JSF/ADF in JDeveloper. I have followed a tutorial from Oracle and when I run the completed web page, I receive a 'Page Cannot Be Displayed' error. The stack trace from JDeveloper is pasted below. Any help would be appreciated as would any links to more tutorials on JSF/ADF
    Thanks
    Angus
