ADF BC generated sql query

Is any way to generate a LEFT JOIN statement?

Thanks.
Another question:
In this case (specify a SQL query in the Expert mode) is there a way to let the ADF component update fetched by the SQL script record data?
or should I write a java code to update child table data?

  • Generated SQL query question

    In my OBIEE development environment, a report I create in Answers generates the following SQL query to the database:
    select T29323.LOCATION as c1,
    T29323.TOOL_NAME as c2,
    T29323.JOB_NUMBER as c3,
    from
    EDB.EDB_JOB_NUMBER_PARAMETER_T_V T29323
    where
    ( T29323.JOB_NUMBER = 1319511
    and T29323.CREATION_DATE <= TO_DATE('2008-05-21 08:38:18' , 'YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI:SS')
    and (T29323.LOCATION in ('MOO', 'RR'))
    and T29323.CREATION_DATE >= TO_DATE('2008-05-18 08:38:18' , 'YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI:SS'))
    However, in my OBIEE Production environment the same report generates the following SQL query to the database;
    select D1.c12 as c1,
    D1.c11 as c2,
    D1.c10 as c3
    from
    (select T29323.JOB_NUMBER as c10,
    T29323.TOOL_NAME as c11,
    T29323.LOCATION as c12
    from
    EDB.EDB_JOB_NUMBER_PARAMETER_T_V T29323
    where ( T29323.JOB_NUMBER = 1319511
    and T29323.CREATION_DATE <= TO_DATE('2008-05-21 09:19:03' , 'YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI:SS')
    and (T29323.LOCATION in ('MOO', 'RR'))
    and T29323.CREATION_DATE >= TO_DATE('2008-05-18 09:19:03' , 'YYYY-MM-DD HH24:MI:SS'))
    ) D1
    Any ideas why the queries are different? I have looked through my config files to see if a setting is different, but all are the same.
    I am running OBIEE 10.1.3.3.2
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

    Hi Kevin,
    I have the same problem with generated SQL querys, I get different result with the same repository, same query in Answers, same OS... in several environments.

    Any idea about the question?

  • Generating report based on dynamically generated sql query

    I have to rewrite asp reports to oracle reports.
    The original application has forms in asp where reports are generated dynamically based on the options selected.
    There are many options to select.
    Some add filter criteria to where clause.
    I have no problem with this. As i can generate report using parameter form.
    whereas i don't know how to generate reports whose columns change based on the user selection.
    The front end screens are going to be in java and jsp pages. The only way i can think of is generating reports on all possible options the user may select. But, as there are more than 15 options, i think this is not the right approach.
    How can i achieve this.
    Thank you very much.
    navya.

    One method that comes to mind would be to use an after parameter form, and use lexical parameters to create dynamic statements.
    For example in your after pform:
    If :P_NAME = 'JOHN' then
    :P_SELECT = 'SELECT COL1, COL2 ';
    :P_FROM = 'FROM JOHN ';
    :P_WHERE = 'WHERE COL3 = 'JOHN';
    END IF;
    Then in your query, you could say:
    &P_SELECT
    &P_FROM
    &P_WHERE
    Something like that - If only parts of you where statement will change, you can just write that one part -
    like
    IF :P_STATE is not null then
    :P_STATE = ' and table.state = :P_STATE_IN ';
    else :P_STATE = ' and 1=1 ';
    end if;
    and in your query...
    where....
    &:P_STATE
    So IF a person enters a state, then limit the search to that state, or else do a 1=1.
    Hope this gives you a start

  • How to see generated SQL when execute JPQL query using entity manager?

    I want to see generated SQL query in console or in a log file. How do I do that?
    I'm using GlassFish if it matters

    If you want to see SQL query that is generated from JPQL in GlassFish console you should do following:
    Log on admin console.
    Select 'Application Server' from tree, then select Logging tab and Log Levels sub-tab.
    Log level for 'Persistence' must be set to FINE or level with more verbosity.

  • Problem with SQL query generated by setString

    Using Creator 2EA2 I have a rowset based on this query (it's actually only the last bit of it with the third parameter that is a problem):
    SELECT director.director_id,  director.name FROM director, director_last_modified WHERE name REGEXP '^[A-C]'  AND director_last_modified.dir_last_modified > ? AND director_last_modified.dir_last_modified <= ?  AND director.director_id = director_last_modified.director_id AND director_last_modified.dir_flagged = ? ORDER BY name; I use setObject to set the first and second parameters to a date. The third parameter refers to field in the database which indicates whether or not a director is 'flagged'. It's a TINYINT in a MySQL table and may contain either 0 or 1. If the user wants to see 'flagged' directors, I want to set the third parameter to 1. If they want to see all directors I want to set the third parameter to 0 OR 1.
    So I use setString with a String variable for the parameter:
    setString(3, strCriterion3);If strCriterion3 has been set as follows:
    strCriterion3 = "1";the generated SQL query ends with:
    director_last_modified.dir_flagged = '1' ORDER BY name; JDBC supplies the two apostrophes. So it would seem to follow that in order to produce a query which ends with:
    director_last_modified.dir_flagged = '1' OR '0' ORDER BY name;I shoud set strCriterion3 with:
    strCriterion3 = "1' OR '3";
    in order to get the required apostrophes.
    However, the generated query is then:
    director_last_modified.dir_flagged = '1\' OR '0\' ORDER BY name;How do I get rid of those backslashes? I've tried double apostrophes, by the way - that just gives me more backslashes.
    Thanks for any help you can offer.

    [Sorry, but I missed the parentheses from the query. It should end with:
    [code]AND (director_last_modified.dir_flagged = ?) ORDER BY name;
    - not that that makes any difference to the apostrophes problem.]
    I've just discovered a solution in this thread http://swforum.sun.com/jive/thread.jspa?forumID=123&threadID=56228
    So I've replaced = ? in the query with LIKE ?
    I then set strCriterion3 to either "1" or "%". That will do nicely, but it seems a bit of kludge and, under different circumstances, I'd still need to get rid of those pesky apostrophes. Any ideas?

  • Schema name added to SQL query after SQL Command

    Post Author: rickeb1
    CA Forum: Data Connectivity and SQL
    Hello,
    I am using Crystal Reports XI.  I have created a Crystal report in the usual manner using a set of tables from a given database schema. When I look at the SQL query that Crystal generates, there are no data schema qualifiers anywhere.
    Then I added an SQL Command object that I use as an additional table. Now when I look at the generated SQL query, the data schema name is added to the beginning of the original query as well as to the new SQL Comand code. It also creates an EXTERNAL JOIN which uses this hard-coded schema name (not exactly sure what an "external join" is).
    This hard-coding of the schema name is causing a problem when we try to migrate the report to a different environment. Is there some way to avoid having Crystal generate a query with the schema name imbedded in the query, or is there a way to remove it after it is generated?
    Thanks!

  • Generate PDF file from sql query

    I have a table having some now i want to perform some calculation on tht data and then want to export it into a
    pdf file.
    All this thing thing i want to write in a sql query so tht i can put it in a stored procedure .
    Kindly suggest.

    timberwoods,
    One way is to use SSRS. You may embed a query and it generates the report which you can always download as pdf, excel etc. Look up on the net for this - that shud probably solve your requirement!!
    If not, found this at codeproject - allows you to generate pdfs - again using SSRS !

  • Generate JSPs from SQL query

    Hello all,
    I am currently creating a web application that will allow a user to create a homepage from a template that is displayed to them. If the user is logging into the system for the first time, the template to create their homepage is displayed to them. However, if the user is logging in and has already used the template to set their homepage options, they are then forwarded to their homepage.
    The users options for their homepage are stored in a database. The problem I am having is trying to generate the jsp page ( with HTML inside also ) using SQL statements that query the table that store the users options.
    Eg. an SQL query queries the DB to see wht options the user has selected. Can anyone help me / advise me how to use these queries to generate the homepage. Thanks in advance!

    Hi aniseed,
    Thanks for a prompt reply.
    So for example can you tell me if the following sample approach is ok.
    <html>
    <head>
    <body>
    <sql:query name="query">
    SELECT * FROM SettingsTable WHERE links == "yes"
    </sql:query>
    <%-- Then to use this query result to insert selected hyperlinks that the user wants in their homepage, I would do the following ....... ? --%>
    <% if (query.size() == 0)
    <table>
    <td>
    <tr>
    </tr>
    </td>
    </table>
    %>
    Thanks again

  • Can we generate the output of SQL Query in XML format ..

    Hi Team,
    Can we generate an XML doc for an SQL Query.
    I've seen in SQL Server 2000.It is generating the output of an SQL Query in xml format.
    select * from emp for xml auto
    The output looks like
    <emp EMPNO="7369" ENAME="SMITH" JOB="CLERK" MGR="7902" HIREDATE="1980-12-17T00:00:00" SAL="2800" DEPTNO="20"/><emp EMPNO="7370" ENAME="SMITH" JOB="CLERK" MGR="7902" HIREDATE="1980-12-17T00:00:00" SAL="2800" DEPTNO="10"/>

    Just a little bit of short hand.
    Get the XML out of your database, via HTTP
    Of course the easiest method is just to return an XMLType from a stored procedure and let the calling routine figure out what to do with it. Instead
    of that way though, I'll show you how to do it via HTTP. It's all completely built into 10g and is super easy to use.
    CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW emps_and_depts AS
    SELECT e.employee_id AS "EmployeeId",
    e.last_name AS "Name",
    e.job_id AS "Job",
    e.manager_id AS "Manager",
    e.hire_date AS "HireDate",
    e.salary AS "Salary",
    e.commission_pct AS "Commission",
    XMLFOREST (
    d.department_id AS "DeptNo",
    d.department_name AS "DeptName",
    d.location_id AS "Location"
    ) AS "Dept"
    FROM employees e, departments d
    WHERE e.department_id = d.department_id
    Some people hear web and immediately start salivating about security issues. Let me address that quickly. Just because you have the HTTP and/or
    FTP servers running in the database, that does not mean you have a security problem. For one, I would hope your databases are behind a firewall.
    Second, with the correct architecture (DMZ, app servers, etc) you can make this data available outside the firewall fairly transparently and third,
    just because it's on the web does not mean the data MUST be available on the internet. This is a good way to make your data available on your
    intranet. If you are worried about people INSIDE your firewall, that still doesn't preclude web based access. Follow Oracle security guidelines.
    Before I show you how to get to your data, let's talk about URLs and URIs. A URL is a Uniform Resource Locater and URI is a Uniform Resource
    Identifier. A URL is the way you would identify a document on the net, i.e. http://www.oracle.com is a URL. A URI is a more generic form of a URL.
    Oracle supports three types of URI: HTTPURIType - basically a URL (which would be like the URL above), XDURIType - a pointer to an XDB resource
    (usually an XML document but can be other objects), and DBURIType - a pointer to database objects.
    It's the DBURIType that we're going to concentrate on here. The DBURIType let's us reference database objects using a file/folder paradigm. The
    format for a DBURI is /oradb/<schema>/<table>. Oradb is shorthand for the database; it is not the database name or SID. My database is named XE
    but I still use oradb in the DBURI. For example, the view we created above is in my XE database, is owned by HR (at least in my case) and is called
    EMPS_AND_DEPTS. This can be referenced as /oradb/HR/EMPS_AND_DEPTS.
    If the view had many rows and you wanted only one of them, you can restrict it by including a predicate. The documentation for XDB has a great
    write up on Using DBURIs.In our case, we are going to write out the entire document. Now that you understand that the DBURI is a pointer to
    objects in our instance, we can use that to access the data as a URL.
    The format for the URL call is http://<machinename>:<port>/<DBURI>
    In my case, my XE database is running on a machine called mach1 and is listening on port 8080. So to see the view we created above, I open my
    browser and navigate to: http//mach1:8080/oradb/HR/EMPS_AND_DEPTS
    The created URL will be as http//mach1:8080/oradb/PUBLIC/EMPS_AND_DEPTS
    If your database is set up correctly and listening on port 8080 (the default), your browser should ask you to login. Login as the user who created the
    view (in my case HR). You should now get an XML document displayed in your browser.
    And that's it. It doesn't get much simpler than that. If you get rid of the descriptive text above, it basically comes down to:
    Create a table or view
    Open your web browser
    Enter a URL
    Enter a user ID and password
    View your XML
    If you notice, Oracle formatted the data as XML for us. Our view returns scalar columns and an XML fragment called Dept. Oracle formatted the
    return results into an XML format.
    And as a side note, if you look closely, you'll see that my URL has PUBLIC where I said to put HR. PUBLIC is a synonym for all objects that your
    logged in user can see. That way, if your user has been granted select access on many schemas, you can use PUBLIC and see any of them.
