ADF Essential and JDeveloper

Hi,
If I want to use ADF essential module, should it deploy in JDeveloper 11.1.2.3 module installation? Or when I install JDeveloper 11.1.2.3, is ADF essential module automatically installed?
Thanks

ADF Essentials can be downloaded from http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/adf/overview/adfessentials-1719844.html ...
It's a special package which you have to install.

  • ADF-Faces and JDeveloper 11

    I have an application that already done and running, the JSPs of this application almost generated with JHeadStart,
    the components are ADF-Faces components with the ADF-Faces implementation of the release 10.1.3.3 of Jdeveloper.
    I'd like to find a way to migrate this application to new JDeveloper 11.
    so the tables becomes not fixed width and height columns, and also to be possible to use the new features in JDEV 11

    Saeed,
    this is really a JHeadstart Forum question (JHeadstart
    There is no JHeadstart 11g available yet.
    Migration should not be done without proper JHeadstart support.

    Hello all,
    I was trying to make a ADF UIX form and am attempting to use Jdeveloper 10.1.3.0.4.
    It looks as if ADF UIX components cannot be made with Jdeveloper 10.1.3.0.4.
    Is this true?
    Thanks for any help,

    Yes it is true.

  • Database Lite and JDeveloper / ADF

    Hello,
    I'm planning to create a small application which will run on mobile PC in an off-line mode, having synchronization with master DB once connected to the proper network.
    The main architecture on the target PC may be :
    - Oracle Lite
    - GlassFish
    - ADF application
    I downloaded JDeveloper 11.1.1.3.0 and the latest version of Oracle Lite (10.3.0.3).
    I'm looking the tutorials but none of them are talking about the JDeveloper 11g version, they all speak about BC4J/OC4J. Since I'm new to Oracle's product I don't know these "products" (framework ?) and in the 11g version this seems to have disappeared.
    Are those versions compatible with each other ?
    Will the tutorial work ?
    Regards
    PS: the same thread is present on the JDeveloper forum

    The main thread will be the one on JDeveloper section :)

  • InputFile component on Glassfish and ADF Essential

    Hello,
    Is the component af:inputFile working on Glassfish with ADF Essential?

    Well, it's not really about inputFile component, but about the upload action behind. When user try to upload a file, the navigator ask him to refresh the whole page (firefox). The thing is that it works good on weblogic.
    What we do when uploading a file is to read the file and to create a blob that we store in db.
    Here the code of upload method in the managed bean :
    public String upload() {
    if(this.getFile()!=null){
    try{
    String type = this.getFile().getContentType();
    String fileName = this.getFile().getFilename();
    InputStream is = this.getFile().getInputStream();
    BlobDomain newBlob = new BlobDomain();
    OutputStream os = newBlob.getBinaryOutputStream();
    byte[] buffer = new byte[1024];
    int length =0;
    while ( (length =is.read(buffer)) != -1) {
    os.write(buffer,0,length);
    is.close();
    os.flush();
    os.close();
    this.setBlobParam(newBlob);
    this.setFileNameParam(fileName);
    JSFUtil.executeOperation("#{bindings.insertNewBlob}");
    this.setFile(null);
    catch(Exception e){
    System.out.println("exception in upload");
    e.printStackTrace();
    return null;

  • Problem with ADF security and task flow calls

    Hi.
    I am using JDeveloper 11.1.2.0.0.
    I encountered a problem when tried to apply ADF security to my application.
    The way to reproduce the problem:
    1. Create new Fusion Web Application;
    2. Import Business Components from Tables from any existing schema and add at least one table to the ApplicationModule.
    3. Create "welcome page" (for instance, welcome.jsf). Add a button with fixed action outcome "test".
    4. Create test page, for instance, test.jsf. Drag and drop any view object from Data Controls onto the page and create a form with navigation controls. Add a button with fixed action outcome "return".
    5. Create bounded task flow, name it "test", drag and drop our test page on it - the page will be the default activity. Add a task flow return activity. Add a control flow case from the default view activity to the return activity, set From Outcome property to "return". So our return button should cause the task flow to exit.
    6. Open adfc-config.xml in diagram mode and place our welcome page on it. Then drag and drop the test task flow to create a task flow call activity. Add a control flow case from welcome page to task flow call activity, set the From Outcome property to "test". So our test button should call the test task flow.
    7. Configure application to run the unbounded task flow starting with Welcome view activity.
    At this point all works as expected: when application runs, the welcome page is displayed with test button. Pressing the test button results in displaying the test page, return button leads back to the welcome page.
    Now let's configure ADF Security.
    Run the ADF Security configuration wizard, choose ADF Authentication and Authorization.
    On the second page select Form-Based Authentication, check the Generate Default Pages flag.
    On the third page choose No Automatic Grants.
    On the next page keep the Redirect Upon Successful Authentication unchecked. Press Finish.
    Open jazn-data.xml to configure roles, users and resource grants:
    1. Create application role test-role.
    2. Grant the test-role privileges to view the test task flow.
    3. Create user and grant him the test-role.
    Now we have the public available welcome page and the test page with restricted access.
    When application runs, the welcome page is displayed as expected. Pressing the test button redirect us to auto-generated login page. After successful authorization the test page is displayed. But nothing happens if we click now the return button for the first time. When we click the return button once more, the application crushes with Error-500 and message "Target Unreachable, identifier 'bindings' resolved to null". The exact error trace depends on UI control bindings, but looks like this:
    javax.el.PropertyNotFoundException: //C:/Users/DUDKIN/AppData/Roaming/JDeveloper/system11.1.2.0.38.60.17/o.j2ee/drs/Test1/ViewControllerWebApp.war/test.jsf @10,120 value="#{bindings.Id.inputValue}": Target Unreachable, identifier 'bindings' resolved to null

    Any suggestions?

    @Lovin_JV_941794
    The welcome page is public available since it does not have appropriate PageDef file.
    Login page comes not from the welcome page, it comes after attempt to access the test page. So after the login succeeded the test page appears, because redirect to welcome page after successful login is not configured. I do not need to return the welcome page at this moment, I need to go to the test page.
    It seems the task flow call stack to be destroyed after redirect to login page.

  • Running simple ADF page from jdeveloper

    Hi,
    I'm trying to learn ADF technology. Created one simple hellow world page ,absolutely no errors when compiled , however not able to display the page . The error is DNS server error ( page cannot be displayed).
    Embedded OC4J creates this URL:
    Target URL -- http://192.168.1.7:8988/FirstADFapplication-ViewController-context-root/faces/page1.jspx
    I developed many OAF pages earlier on my laptop and with the same jdeveloper version and settings.
    Am I missing some thing here? I really appreciate any suggestions on this.
    Thanks
    Uma.

    Try to switch the URL to use 127.0.0.1 instead of the ip address you had:
    http://127.0.0.1:8988/FirstADFapplication-ViewController-context-root/faces/page1.jspx
    By the way, if you are going to learn ADF - I would recommend that you learn ADF 11g and not the version that comes with the JDeveloper you use for OAF development.

  • How to get ADF authentication and authorization working on server

    I am having an issue with deployment & ADF authentication and authorization.
    From the below testing results, you can see that I am unable to log in when I have deployed my app to my standalone server with both ADF security authentication and authorization turned on. I have included web.xml, jazn-data.xml and the page/server error I am receiving.
    When making an attempt to log in I get the following results:
    Running Locally with ADF Authentication:                                           Works Fine
    Running Locally with ADF Authentication & Authorization:         Works Fine
    Deployed to server with ADF Authentication:                                    Works Fine
    Deployed to server with ADF Authentication & Authorization:  Doesn’t Work
    What I have already tried: Removed all anonymous grants, using the same database credentials as the app user, deploying app twice (on the redeploy not including the login credentials & app policies at the application properties). Various modifications to web.xml e.g. welcomefilelist etc

    The request requires user authentication. The response MUST include a WWW-Authenticate header field (section 14.46) containing a challenge applicable to the requested resource. The client MAY repeat the request with a suitable Authorization header field (section 14.8). If the request already included Authorization credentials, then the 401 response indicates that authorization has been refused for those credentials. If the 401 response contains the same challenge as the prior response, and the user agent has already attempted authentication at least once, then the user SHOULD be presented the entity that was given in the response, since that entity MAY include relevant diagnostic information. Read Frank's article http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/issue-archive/2012/12-jan/o12adf-1364748.html
    Then you have to check if the user use use to login are defined in the stand alone server. If you server is running in production mode there is no automatic user or role migration. You have to to this by yourself.
    Once you have check that the users are present, you have to check if the enterprise roles are mapped to the corresponding application roles.

  • ADF Essentials and Glass Fish Server

    Hi,
    I am developing an application using ADF Essentials and GlassFish Server. Is it similar to J2EE Application?
    Regards,
    Jayashree V.

    Oracle ADF based on j2ee technologies. hosting is similar as j2ee ..
    But for normal ADF, only few app server is certified to host.. regarding ADF essential you can host on glass fish as well

  • Adf 12c and wls11g

    HI
    i use adf 12c and i want to deploy my applications on weblogic 11g.
    is it possible? How can i install adf 12c on wls11g
    thanks

    Hi,
    ADF 12C is not supported to be installed with Weblogic 11g .
    The information at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/jdev/documentation/1212-cert-1964670.html#Abrams-SupportInformation-ApplicationServers should be read as follow:
    In case of ADF 12c the only supported WebLogic server is WebLogic 12c. That is stated in the 3rd column of the table in the above document. The 2nd column states that when you use JDeveloper 12c you will be able to connect and deploy directly from JDeveloper to the mentioned application servers 10.3.5+ and 12.1.2. However for ADF 12c the certification is only against 12c.
    So it is not possible to install FMW 12c onto WebLogic 10.3.6.
    Regards,
    Prakash.

  • Oracle ADF UIX and Struts

    Does Oracle ADF UIX use Struts components internally? If yes, Does Oracle Support the issues that arises because this internally used Struts components? (I am using Oracle ADF in my application.
    Thanks,
    Aravind.

    DataForwardAction and DataAction are build on top of struts actions to coordinate ADF databindings and it's life cycle;
    UIX, has xmlns:struts="http://xmlns.oracle.com/uix/struts" this XML namespace has some elements like
    <struts:form> and <struts:messageTextInput> also <struts:dataScope>
    They work like struts jsp tag;
    here a good paper;

  • Oracle ADF Model and BC4J api reference in JDev 10.1.3.03

    Hi
    Where I can find Oracle ADF Model and Business Components API Reference in JDev 10.1.3.03? Maybe it's not ready yet?

    I don't know how up-to-date they are, but the javadoc files are all archived into jar files in the JDeveloper installation at: <jdev-install-dir>\jdev\doc\ohj. Most of the business component interfaces and classes are covered in the bc4jjavadoc.jar. You can either open the index.html file of the jar in JDeveloper and move through the links in the preview pane, or use the jar utility (or other unzipping util) to extract the jar file into your directory structure and then access the html files directly.
