ADF Essentials and Glass Fish Server

Hi,
I am developing an application using ADF Essentials and GlassFish Server. Is it similar to J2EE Application?
Regards,
Jayashree V.

Oracle ADF based on j2ee technologies. hosting is similar as j2ee ..
But for normal ADF, only few app server is certified to host.. regarding ADF essential you can host on glass fish as well

  • ADF with Oracle Glass Fish

    I am testing my adf application, developed with JDeveloper 11.1.2.3.0, in Oracle Glass Fish 3.1.2.2 (build 5). I copied the adf_essentials jars in to my domain1/lib. When I want to deploy the application i got and error:
    Error occurred during deployment: Exception while loading the app : java.lang.IllegalStateException: ContainerBase.addChild: start: org.apache.catalina.LifecycleException: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: oracle.adf.mbean.share.connection.ADFConnectionLifeCycleCallBack.
    It seems that the glassfish can´t find the ADFConnectionLifeCycleCallBack, but i see it in the domain/lib/adfsharembean.jar
    This doesn't happen in the open source edition.

    I followed the instructions of that link. I have created the deployment for glassfish(before i did it for weblogic) and can deploy the application, but when I load the login page i get the error:

  • Difficulty with ADF Faces/ADF Essentials and Glassfish

    Hi all,
    I've got a web application written with ADF Faces, and it runs just fine within jDeveloper 11.1.2.3 but when I deploy it to Glassfish 3.1.2 (with ADF Essentials installed) something curious happens.
    My application has no difficulty performing database reads, but when it tried to write to the database and commit, it fails.
    I've seen only a couple of other people with this problem, and none of them seem to have found a solution - so I'm assuming it's something stupid that I'm doing or misunderstanding.
    Here is the log file:

            paymentRow.setAttribute("PaymentType", prPaymentType);

                Object rowKey = selectionIt.next();
                unpaidPaymentItemsTable.setRowKey(rowKey);
                int index = unpaidPaymentItemsTable.getRowIndex();
                JUCtrlHierNodeBinding row = (JUCtrlHierNodeBinding)unpaidPaymentItemsTable.getRowData(index);
                Row selectedRow = row.getRow();

            refreshTableIterator("VendorPaymentItemsView1Iterator");
            refreshTableIterator("VendorPaymentsReceived1Iterator");
            return null;
    it fails on the second appModule.commitOperation() (which I've bolded)
    if anyone can give a clue to what I'm misunderstanding I'd really appreciate it.  I'm sure that if I had the course for BaseSQLBuilderImpl.java and/or DBTransactionImpl it would be easier to see what the actual error was - unfortunately java.lang.ClassCastException: java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError cannot be cast to java.lang.Exception doesn't tell me much of anything.
    Thanks so much to anyone who's got the time/knowledge to help.
    Bob

    That doesn't seem to make any difference.  It works just fine within jDeveloper, but as soon as I deploy it, I can no longer write to the database.
    A few more details that seem relevant - it's not only this method that fails.  Even on screens which were designed without any backing code (where I used the wizards to create my forms and commit buttons) the same exact thing happens.
    I've also replicated this behavior in Tomcat.
    Part of what is happening is that something is throwing a NoClassDefFoundError, which is caught by a catch (Throwable thEx) clause within DBTransactionImpl.  This passes the Error to a method (isSQLRecoverableException) within the BaseSQLBuilderImpl class.  The problem is that this method takes only Exceptions for arguments, and NoClassDefFoundError is not a subclass of Exception (only of Throwable.)
    It seems obvious to me that there's somewhere a jar missing, but I cannot find it without knowing which class was not found.

  • ADF Essentials and JAAS

    Hello.
    Using JDeveloper 11.1.2.3
    ADF Essentials - Glassfish 3.1
    I'm trying to use FORM type (web.xml) security in my adf essentials application. I created a login.jspx page, but I don't know how can I call the j_security_check from my page because the af:form does not have an action attribute. I wonder if I can call it from a managed bean. I've read this doc:
    Enabling ADF Security...
    [http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E15523_01/web.1111/b31974/adding_security.htm#BGBGJEAH|http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E15523_01/web.1111/b31974/adding_security.htm#BGBGJEAH]
    But as I'm using ADF Essentials, I think I cannot follow that solution.
    can anyone help, please?
    Regards,
    Alexis

    Essentials comes without the Normal Oracle security. Check out https://blogs.oracle.com/emeapartnerweblogic/entry/adf_essentials_security_implementation_for and http://jobinesh.blogspot.com/2013/02/securing-your-adf-applications-using.html for our other solutions.

    Our company is planning to buy Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials edition (Volume license) and install it on Citrix Xenserver based virtual machine with 4 virtual processor cores. Can we install Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Standard Core Edition (2 licenses

    FYI

    Hi Susan.  I hope there's a better 'fix' coming to replace this "uninstall the updates, restore, then reinstall the updates after the restore".  This kind of workaround requires that all of us remember that there's a problem
    with KB3023562 and KB3004375 from now until the end of WS2012E.  Not sure I'll remember this 6 months from now when the problem crops up during a restore.   -:(

  • Can i install Oracle ADF Essentials 11.1.2.3 on weblogic 10.6 ?

    can i install Oracle ADF Essentials 11.1.2.3 on weblogic 10.6 ?
    what the difference between ADF Essentials 11.1.2.3 and Application Development Run time 11.1.1.6 ?
    can i use ADF Essentials 11.1.2.3 instead of Application Development Run time 11.1.1.6 to deploy application (contains many jsf pages with rich faces and many taskflows and BC4J) ??
    i'm using jdeveloper 11.1.2.3.0 and weblogic 10.6 installed on the Linux server

    Hi,
    JDeveloper 11g R1 (11.2.3) supported as ADF essentials and running on WebLogic 10.3.6 are the same releases. The difference is that a path is needed if you want to deploy the software on WLS 10.3.6. Quoting the release notes:
    +"The ADF Runtime will be installed into a standalone application server by applying an Opatch bundle on top of a 11.1.1.6 version of the Application Developer Runtime environment. In the event that additional patches are needed or desired in addition to the 11.1.2.3.0 patch (for example, if an additional patch is needed for another component in the Application Development Runtime installation), those patches will need to be installed separately.+
    +Important note: The patch is intended to be applied to an Application Developer Runtime installation. Applying the patch to a different installation type (for example, Oracle SOA Suite or Oracle WebCenter) is not supported."+
    Release Notes: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/jdev/11gr2update3-1851251.html
    For Glasssfish you don't need to patch the server and only install the ADF runtime libraries - also explained in the Release notes.

  • Error with glass-fish installation on Window 7 (64 bit)

    Windows 7 Enterprise (Service Pack 1)
    64 bit Operating system
    RAM 8 GB
    With reference to above PC config, I have installed MYSQL Server 5.6 and JDK7u79  it works fine, However when I try to install glass-fish server on the same PC it throws the error (above)
    Installed path for software is: C:\adfessentials
    I have googled the error but things have not been explained properly there. Could anyone provide a step by step instruction to rectify this error and install glass-fish 3.1.2.2
    Regards
    Zahid

    Hi Timo

    App.Server: GlassFish V2
    Application is using: Visual JSF framework
    OS:WindowsXP
    IDE: NetBeans 6.1
    Description Of the problem: I’m a developing a web application using the visual JSF and GlasshFishv2. In the development process I’m using third party .jar libraries (Haley). When I call a method present in the third party libraries from glass-fish server environment, I get this error below
    java.lang.IllegalAccessError: tried to access class com.haley.util.l from class com.haley.haleyrules.KnowledgeBaseFactory
    However, when I execute the same code in a non-application server(no glass fish server involvement) everything works fine. There is no error in plain java development environment,
    Any suggestion would be appreciated
    Third party vendor (Haley) keep saying that it’s a glassfish problem because libraries work in plain JAVA environment
    Thank in advance for your help

    Questions: Do you plan to use the same web browser? The earlier applet running on JRE 1.5.x cannot run on 1.6 ? Sun puts forth a lot of effort in attempt to ensure that applets are forwards compatible.

  • How to get ADF authentication and authorization working on server

    I am having an issue with deployment & ADF authentication and authorization.
    From the below testing results, you can see that I am unable to log in when I have deployed my app to my standalone server with both ADF security authentication and authorization turned on. I have included web.xml, jazn-data.xml and the page/server error I am receiving.
    When making an attempt to log in I get the following results:
    Running Locally with ADF Authentication:                                           Works Fine
    Running Locally with ADF Authentication & Authorization:         Works Fine
    Deployed to server with ADF Authentication:                                    Works Fine
    Deployed to server with ADF Authentication & Authorization:  Doesn’t Work
    What I have already tried: Removed all anonymous grants, using the same database credentials as the app user, deploying app twice (on the redeploy not including the login credentials & app policies at the application properties). Various modifications to web.xml e.g. welcomefilelist etc
    JDeveloper Version: 11.1.2.4
    Server Web Logic: 10.3.6
    Server ADF: 11.1.1.16
    Page Error when trying to log in:
    Error 401--Unauthorized
    From RFC 2068 Hypertext Transfer Protocol -- HTTP/1.1:
    10.4.2 401 Unauthorized
    The request requires user authentication. The response MUST include a WWW-Authenticate header field (section 14.46) containing a challenge applicable to the requested resource. The client MAY repeat the request with a suitable Authorization header field (section 14.8). If the request already included Authorization credentials, then the 401 response indicates that authorization has been refused for those credentials. If the 401 response contains the same challenge as the prior response, and the user agent has already attempted authentication at least once, then the user SHOULD be presented the entity that was given in the response, since that entity MAY include relevant diagnostic information. HTTP access authentication is explained in section 11.

    Once you have check that the users are present, you have to check if the enterprise roles are mapped to the corresponding application roles.

    Figure 4.
    After that, please install Windows Server Essentials Experience role as original description. After installation completed, please use the following command to configure Windows
    Server Essentials:
    Start-WssConfigurationService –Credential <Your Credential>
    Note: The type of

    In an existing domain environment
    In an existing domain environment, please use following command to provide credential and then add Server Essentials Role: (Figure 13)
    Add-WindowsFeature -Name ServerEssentialsRole
    -ComputerName xxx -Credential DomainName\DomainAccount
    Figure 13.
    After you enter the credential, it will start install Windows Server Essentials role on your computer. (Figure 14)

    After the installation completes, it will return the result as below:
    Figure 15.
    Next, please use the
    Enter-PSSession
    cmdlet and provide the correct credential to start an interactive session with a remote computer. You can use the commands below:
    Enter-PSSession –ComputerName
    xxx –Credential DomainName\DomainAccount (Figure 16)
    Figure 16.
    Then, please configure Server Essentials Role via
    Add-WssConfigurationService cmdlet and it also needs to provide correct credential. (Figure 17)
    Figure 17.
    After your credential is accepted, it will update and prepare your server. (Figure 18)
    Figure 18.
    After that, please type “Y” to continue to configure Windows Server Essentials. (Figure 19)
    Figure 19.
    2. In a non-domain environment
    In my test environment, I set up two computers running Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard and use Server1 as a target computer. The IP addresses for the two computers are as
    below:
    Sevrer1: 192.168.1.54
    Server2: 192.168.1.53
    Run
    Enable-PSRemoting –Force on Server1. (Figure 20)
    Figure 20.
    Since there is no existing domain, it is necessary to add the target computer (Server1) to a TrustedHosts list (maintained by WinRM) on Server 2. We can use following command
    to
    add the TrustedHosts entry:
    Set-Item WSMan:\localhost\Client\TrustedHosts IP-Address
    (Figure 21)
    Figure 21.
    Next, we can use
    Enter-PSSession
    cmdlet and provide the correct credential to start an interactive session with the remote computer. (Figure 22)
    Figure 22.
    After that, you can install Windows Server Essentials Experience Role remotely via Add-WindowsFeature ServerEssentialsRole cmdlet. (Figure 23)
    Figure 23.
    From figure 24, we can see that the installation is completed.
    Figure 24.
    Then you can use
    Start-WssConfigurationService cmdlet to configure Essentials Role and follow the steps in the first part (configure Windows Server Essentials Experience in a non-domain environment) as the steps would be the same.
    The figure below shows the status of Windows Server Essentials.
    Figure
    25.
    Finally, we have successfully configured Windows Server Essentials on Server1. (Figure 26)
    Figure 26.

  • What do I Need to buy? Windows Server 2013 Essentials and ?

    Hi I have a relatively simple question, and I am a little confused by the MS Licensing
    I currently have a Windows Server 2003 and an additional 5 user terminal server license. This is for a small Office set up of 5 PC's which are connected to a switch as is the server. As they are all on the same sub net (private - non routable) it works great.
    Each of the users have a windows 8.1 desktop and they use RDP to connect to the server. Once on the server they do their work and each user has their own session. One or two can be using MYOB the other one can be reading email and the other can be using word
    to type up a document.
    I believe that that I need the following for this to work.
    1) Windows Server 2012 Essentials
    2) Remote Desktop Licenses for 5 people
    Do I need any other licenses for this to work?

    Hi,
    I confirm Cliff's answer that with Essentials Edition of Windows Server 2012/2012 R2 you cannot working on th eterminal Server while this Edition not includes remote Access Gateway for sharing application remotzely with RDS CALs.
    for only 5 users, is better to purchase the Foundation Edition, available only as OEM preinstalled for up to 15 users without Server CALs. However, you need to purchase 5 RDS CALs
    thanks
