ADF Faces afh:rowLayout rendered

This is interesting. I tested this with EA16 and it worked. I have a afh:rowLayout i would like to hide and show based on role membership. I check the role membership in hte backing bean and bind it with the rendered property.
The problem is, can someone else please test this, the rendered attributed does not seem to bind anymore. I can set a breakpoint in the code and it never gets caught..
Any help appreciated.
Nick

It was a typo in the binding syntax.
I knew it had to be something similar to that, i just needed a second set of eyes.

  • ADF Faces - Panel Accordion rendering issue

    Hi, I am trying to follow this tutorial about adf faces:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E18941_01/tutorials/jdtut_11r2_55/jdtut_11r2_55_2.html
    but when I click on the detail items in the accordion component, the objects inside desappears and I could see a strange rendering behavior with the rest of the objects.
    No errors are shown in the console. I tested it in chrome, ie8 and firefox with the same result.
    Software used: jdeveloper 11.1.1.6.0, weblogic 11gR1 on win7.
    Any ideas?

    You are aware that the sample is for jdev 11.1.2.x, so this may well be the reason why you see this behavior.

  • ADF Faces : partial page rendering in f:subview

    hi
    Please consider this blog post, "ADF Faces: How-to issue a PPR event from a f:subview and how-to PPR of subviews" :
    http://thepeninsulasedge.com/frank_nimphius/2008/02/14/adf-faces-how-to-issue-a-ppr-event-from-a-fsubview-and-how-to-ppr-of-subviews/
    In this post, Frank Nimphius writes : "... PPR from a containing page to the subview - unfortunately - only works for the whole subview, which means that the included page is getting refreshed. Because the f:subview component does not support PR, you need to work with a wrapping ADF Faces container, like af:panelGroup ...".
    But, it looks like such partial page rendering in a subview can be done without a specific "wrapping ADF Faces container" like this ...
            <h:form id="firstPPRPageFormID">
              <af:panelPage title="firstPPRPage">
                <af:panelHeader text="components on firstPPRPage">
                  <af:panelForm>
                    <af:panelLabelAndMessage label="dateUtil.currentDateAsString, with partial trigger">
                      <af:outputText value="#{dateUtil.currentDateAsString}"
                                     partialTriggers="firstSubviewID:firstSubviewCButton"/>
                    </af:panelLabelAndMessage>
                    <af:panelLabelAndMessage label="dateUtil.currentDateAsString">
                      <af:outputText value="#{dateUtil.currentDateAsString}"/>
                    </af:panelLabelAndMessage>
                    <f:facet name="footer">
                      <af:commandButton text="firstPPRPage button"
                                        id="firstPPRPageCButton"
                                        partialSubmit="true"/>
                    </f:facet>
                  </af:panelForm>
                </af:panelHeader>
                <f:subview id="firstSubviewID">
                  <jsp:include page="/firstSubview.jspx" flush="true"/>
                </f:subview>
              </af:panelPage>
            </h:form>... and where firstSubview.jspx contains something like this ...
      <af:panelHeader text="components on firstSubview">
        <af:panelForm>
          <af:panelLabelAndMessage label="dateUtil.currentDateAsString, with partial trigger">
            <af:outputText value="#{dateUtil.currentDateAsString}"
                           partialTriggers=":firstPPRPageFormID:firstPPRPageCButton"/>
          </af:panelLabelAndMessage>
          <af:panelLabelAndMessage label="dateUtil.currentDateAsString">
            <af:outputText value="#{dateUtil.currentDateAsString}"/>
          </af:panelLabelAndMessage>
          <f:facet name="footer">
            <af:commandButton text="firstSubview button" id="firstSubviewCButton"
                              partialSubmit="true"/>
          </f:facet>
        </af:panelForm>
      </af:panelHeader>Note the value ":firstPPRPageFormID:firstPPRPageCButton" for the partialTriggers attribute.

    questions:
    (1) Why exactly does this approach seem to work?
    (2) Because of question (1), what could be potential issues with this approach?
    regards
    Jan Vervecken

    Jan,
    good job ! I actually never thought of reversing what I said about PPR'ing a component from a subview.
    Actually
    partialTriggers=":firstPPRPageFormID:firstPPRPageCButton"/>
    works because the leading ":" makes ADF Faces to start the component search from the root container. Note that if you use af:form instead of h:form, the trigger is
    partialTriggers=":firstPPRPageCButton"/>
    I'll update my blog

  • ADF Faces - partial submit across subforms

    Should it be possible to make a button a partialTrigger for a table in a different subform?
    I have a textfield and commandButton in one subform, and an af:table in another subform.
    Thanks
    Martin

    Actually I once read a Frank Nimphius entry about how to make this work, but the solution was somewhat unexpected. I think it had something to do with putting ":fieldid" in the partial triggers property value, rather than "subformid:fieldid". this was regarding 10.1.3 functionality though.
    Check out Re: ADF Faces : partial page rendering in f:subview for commentary on this subject, if I am understanding the problem.
    Also it is the first+_ entry in the word document downloadable here:  http://thepeninsulasedge.com/frank_nimphius/wp-content/uploads/2008/05/OldAndLostBlogBusterTips.zip

  • ADF Faces and Struts confusion

    Hello alltogether,
    I'm developing with struts for some years now but I'm completely new to ADF and Faces.
    I want to integrate a "simple" ADF Faces page with one TreeTable to an existent struts application.
    The idea I had is to create an action within the struts-config.xml inheriting from the DataAction or DataForwardAction in order to load and prepare the data for the TreeTableModel.
    When I call the ADF Faces page using the .do call for the Action created (I have to prepend /faces/ to the normal Action call) the page is rendered correctly but I do not enter my derived Action class at all.
    So my question is: How is the preferred way to fill the Model of the TreeTable before the ADF Faces page is rendered. The necessary datasource is obtained from a struts basic action throughout the whole application.
    I'm now struggeling with the pageDef.xml (using the documentation from here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/jdev/b25947_01/index.html) but I'm really lost since I do not understand what happens when and how resp. why it happens.
    All I want is the following: Prepare and load the necessary TreeModel before the page gets rendered (the appropriate model depends on a parameter which is given in the request that is send and which successfully response should be the ADF Faces page with the TreeTable filled with the appropriate data)!
    Can please somebody give me the necessary piece of advice?
    I'm trying for almost a day now!
    Many thanks in advance
    Best Regards

    Dear Mr. Vohra, It is not yet Clear whether we can use ADF Faces with Tiles,
    With out using Facelets, of MyFaces?
    Some users say they are using these two frameworks, but still complain of problems.
    And you are suggesting to use facelets with ADF faces .
    Can't we use ADF Faces and Tiles with out any other intermediate technology?
    Thanking you,
    Samba.

  • Panel Page in ADF Faces using Facelets not rendering correctly

    Hi, I am attempting to integrate facelets into a web app built using adf faces and am running into a problem with the panel page component. I have integrated facelets and adf faces without any problems by adding relevant jars (jsf-facelets and adf-facelets) to the project and specifying alternate facelets view handler in web.xml.
    However, when I try to render any component inside <af:document> or <af:html> tags, all the font style in components seems to be lost ( all the text and input fields turn large and ugly!).
    I tried to leave out the <af:document> tag and put the <f:view> inside some vanilla html instead, but then panelPage component dosen't render properly and I get following message on top of page :
    "Skip navigation elements to page contents"
    So seem to be in a bit of a catch 22. By the way, this all works fine if I don't use facelets (remove the facelets view handler from web.xml and page renders correctly).
    Does anyone have any ideas or examples of panelPage rendering correctly with facelets or an alternative to using adf faces html tags that will allow panelpage to be displayed?
    The following is the code from a simple test jspx page :
    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='windows-1252'?>
    <jsp:root xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page" version="2.0"
    xmlns:h="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html"
    xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core"
    xmlns:afh="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces/html"
    xmlns:af="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces"
    xmlns:c="http://java.sun.com/jsp/jstl/core"
    xmlns:ui="http://java.sun.com/jsf/facelets">
    <f:view>
    <af:document>
    <af:form>
    <af:panelPage title="Title 1">
    <af:panelHorizontal>
    <af:panelGroup layout="vertical">
    <af:outputLabel value="Username"/>
    <af:inputText id="lo_username" value="" columns="20"/>
    <af:objectSpacer width="1" height="10"/>
    <af:outputLabel value="Password"/>
    <af:inputText id="lo_password" secret="true" value="" columns="20"/>
    <af:objectSpacer width="1" height="15" />
    <af:panelHorizontal>
    <af:objectSpacer width="50" height="1"/>
    <af:commandButton id="lo_loginButton" text="Login"/>
    </af:panelHorizontal>
    </af:panelGroup>
    <af:objectSpacer width="50" height="1"/>
    <af:panelGroup layout="vertical">
    <af:outputLabel value="Please use your windows account username"/>
    <af:outputLabel value="and password to logon to the system"/>
    <af:objectSpacer width="1" height="50"/>
    </af:panelGroup>
    </af:panelHorizontal>
    </af:panelPage>
    </af:form>
    </af:document>
    </f:view>
    </jsp:root>

    The problem was the <jsp:root> tag. Removed this tag and modified <af:document> to the following so that namespaces are declared :
    <af:document xmlns:h="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html"
    xmlns:f="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core"
    xmlns:af="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces"
    xmlns:afh="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces/html"
    xmlns:ui="http://java.sun.com/jsf/facelets">
    Page now renders properly using facelets.

  • MyFaces not rendering, ADF faces IS rendering

    I'm installing my app on the websphere application server, Version 6.1 After having issues of both adf and myfaces not working, I came accross this link which helped me somewhat. http://wiki.apache.org/myfaces/Websphere_Installation .
    By "not working" I mean that my jsp would have <h:commandLink>'s and <af:commandButton/> however the html was never actually generated. (You could view the pages source and the resulting html page was blank).
    After following those instructions, ADF components are correctly rendered, and the html works. However, I can not use any <h:> or <h:> components.
    Keep in mind, every single part of this used to work while using Tomcat (I think it was 5.5, not 6).

  • ADF FACES: Drag&drop of ADF Faces component set all prefixes to af: or :afh

    First i create a JSF page without ADF Faces components;
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"
    "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
    <%@ page contentType="text/html;charset=windows-1252"%>
    <%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core" prefix="f"%>
    <%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html" prefix="h"%>
    <f:view>
    <html>
    <head>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1252"></meta>
    <title>
    untitled2
    </title>
    </head>
    <body>
    <h:form>
    <h:outputText value="outputText0"/>
    </h:form>
    </body>
    </html>
    </f:view>
    Then i put the ADF Faces components <af:inputText (or <af:table>) label="Label 0"/> per drag & drop to my JSF page:
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"
    "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">
    <%@ page contentType="text/html;charset=windows-1252"%>
    <%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/core" prefix="f"%>
    <%@ taglib uri="http://java.sun.com/jsf/html" prefix="h"%>
    <%@ taglib uri="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces/EA11" prefix="af"%>
    <%@ taglib uri="http://xmlns.oracle.com/adf/faces/EA11/html" prefix="afh"%>

    <afh:html>
    <afh:head title="untitled2">
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1252"></meta>
    </afh:head>
    <afh:body>
    <af:form>
    <h:outputText value="outputText0"/>
    <af:inputText label="Label 0"/>
    </af:form>
    </afh:body>
    </afh:html>
    </f:view>
    !!! All tag prefixes are changed to af: or rather afh: !!!
    Why? Is this a feature? WHERE CAN I DISABLE THIS???
    I read in docs that ADF Faces components works well together with RI components or other and i can mix them.

    I posted about this recently and didn't get a single response. I've scoured the project setting/ preferences and was unable to find any pertinant setting. The workaround i've used is to design the entire page and then use notepad(yep notepad) to add the adf tags. Don't bother trying to open the .jsp/.jspx again in jdev or it will modify the tags. I'm assuming this will be addressed in the production release and am hoping this is not a branding issue.
    I'd love to hear a products person address this.

  • ADF Faces: Changing "rendered" property in PPR: JDev 10.1.3

    Hello all,
    I have an ADF Faces page that has an af:CommandButton on it. The rendered property of the button is set to an EL expression that references the model (ADF BC). When the page is submitted (via an af:CommandButton with PartialPage=true), the rest of the page refreshes properly to reflect the changed model state, but the command button with the conditional rendered property is not disappearing as expected (the button is initially rendered=true). I remember reading recently about a similar issue if the button is initially not visible, and I'm not sure if this is related.
    Interestingly, if I click on the button (which should no longer be visible after the PPR event), it does nothing - so it appears to be merely a visual problem. I have also tried setting the disabled property to an EL expression that is the opposite of the rendered property, and the button does not change to be disabled, either.
    Any thoughts? At this point, it looks like a bug/feature.
    Kind regards,
    John
    Should I be able to do this?

    John,
    if you wrap the button in a panel (e.g. buttonpanel) and set the PPR to this panel, does it work ?

  • JDeveloper Visual Editor not rendering ADF Faces

    Hi guys, thanks for read my post.
    I'm working on a MVC application, and using ADF Faces in view. I did any changes, editing my jsf pages sources.
    Now JDeveloper doesn't show the design view of no one jsf pages.
    I followed the steps enumerated by Didier Laurent in:
    http://blogs.oracle.com/Didier/2006/11/22
    (thanks Didier), but it didn't resolve the trouble.
    When i run jdev.exe instead jdevW.exe I watch the following lines:
    (digester.Digester 164) [ConverterRule]{faces-config/converter} Merge(javax.faces.Short,null)
    (digester.Digester 164) [ConverterRule]{faces-config/converter} Merge(null,java.lang.Short)
    (digester.Digester 164) [ConverterRule]{faces-config/converter} Merge(javax.faces.Byte,null)
    (digester.Digester 164) [ConverterRule]{faces-config/converter} Merge(null,java.lang.Byte)
    But I can't see the error cause,
    Have you seen this problem before?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi again, thanks for your reply Shay. I had followed this steps to, but I don't reach to get the misconfiguration or error in my faces pages for showing design time messages in log. Log is empty and if I run JDeveloper from jdev.bin I don't see more than some lines I sent before.
    Thanks

  • ADF Faces components are not rendered in Jdeveloper visual editor

    Hi!
    I'm using Jdeveloper 1013 Developer Preview. I found that the components of ADF Faces EA16 are not shown on the visual editor in Jdeveloper, but the ADF Faces EA15 components are shown. I'm just wondering if this is normal, and there is anything that can be done to fix this?
    Meen

    I know there's a recent release with a visual editor problem, but I'm not sure which one it is. This thread says you need a fresh install? Can you try that?

  • Initializing an ADF Faces selectManyListbox Component

    I am trying to show a selectManyListbox with some values already selected for an edit page, but all i get is a selectManyListbox with no values selected?
    I build the <af:selectManyListbox> using a <af:forEach> which iterates through a List of custom TermType objects creating a <af:selectItem> with each iteration <af:selectItem>'s value property is assigned to an actual object (the toString() method of the object has been overriden to return a simple id string) and the label property is set to label="#{termType.term_type_name}" which produces a String.
    I have set <af:selectManyListbox... valuePassThru="true" ... value="#{TermBean.selectedTermTypes}"...>
    I have configured the function ---> "TermBean.selectedTermTypes" to return a List of "TermType" custom objects and didn't work... return a List of Strings (that match the value sent through to the outputted web page) and finally to return a String[] matching the value property outputted, but no luck....
    when using plain old <h:selectManyListbox> i can get it displaying with selected items when setting the "value" property to String[] of selected items (the Strings match the outputted value) but of cource this dosn't render nicely with all the extras like the adf selectManyListbox.
    i have also tried to do the job in java code hence the "binding" attrib being set to binding="#{TermBean.selectManyTermTypes}"
    Here is the page section that creates the selectManyListbox...
    region_term.jspx
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1" standalone="yes" ?>

    <af:selectItem value="#{termType}" label="#{termType.term_type_name}"/>
    </af:forEach>
    </af:selectManyListbox>
    <af:inputText label="#{bundle.TERM_TEXT}:" value="#{TermBean.tempTerm.term_text}" required="#{region_term.required_term_text}" rows="6" columns="60"/>
    </af:panelForm>
    </af:regionDef>
    </jsp:root>
    <af:selectManyListbox label="#{bundle.TERM_TYPE_S}:" required="#{region_term.required_term_type}" valuePassThru="true" binding="#{TermBean.selectManyTermTypes}" value="#{TermBean.selectedTermTypes}">
    <af:forEach var="termType" items="#{TermBean.allTermTypes}">
    <af:selectItem value="#{termType}" label="#{termType.term_type_name}"/>
    </af:forEach>
    </af:selectManyListbox>
    TermBean.allTermTypes = a List of custom Term objects
    Can anybody tell me if they have managed to get a <af:selectManyListbox> with items already selected when the page loads?

    i realize valuePassThru is used for passing the value of your object or primitive through to the client... i have it off now and the problem isn't solved... the main issue is in the following:
    <af:selectManyListbox... value="#{TermBean.selectedTermTypes}">
    <af:forEach var="termType" items="#{TermBean.allTermTypes}">

    if value="#{TermBean.selectedTermTypes}" is a List of "termType "objects (want these to be selected when the page loads) of the same type as var="termType" items="#{TermBean.allTermTypes}" i.e. getSelectedTermTypes() returns a List of objects of the type termType... why is the select box rendering with no selected items?

  • Resizable frames in ADF Faces

    Hi all!
    We have jspx-page.
    We are using ADF Faces HTML component <afh:frameBorderLayout>, which contains 2 <afh:frame> components for division of page content into areas.
    As a result html-page is generated, and it has 2 frames, but end user can NOT change frames width by draging.
    How can we fix that?
    Is there something like html "noresize" parameter in <afh:frame>?
    many thanks for reading this
    any help will be appreciated
    Renat

    I have the same issue and the quick answer is no. If you look into the source you will find that in the renderer oracle.adfinternal.view.faces.ui.laf.xhtml.FrameRenderer.java that noresize is hard coded.
    They must have had a reason (I hope) but I have no idea what the reason is. Maybe its something for Trinidad or someone from oracle can supply the reason.
    Thinking about ways to overcome this issue
