ADF Faces: Phase listener

hi folks,
In phase listener can we get which is a last action fired .I
have command links in page with action associated with it ,in phase listener i want to know which action is fired that is which commandlink is clicked

ok! i know for  initial requests  (when a user requesting the page for the first time ) the "JavaServer Faces implementation creates an empty view during restore View phase and the life cycle advances to the render response phase".
so i think it is impossible to change Uicomponent state in phase listener !!!!   but how can i change Uicomponent attribute before page send to user's browser ?!!

  • ADF:How to use NavigationHandler in Phase-Listener with adfc-config.xml

    Hi,
    in our application a user should be navigated to the login-page, when he tries to navigate directly to a page where he has no right for or if the session is expired.
    Our navigation is complete in the adfc-config.xml. So I created a phase-listener, which is called by the adf-settings.xml.
    Inside the phase-listener I'm checking the rights. If the user doesn't have the needed rights, he should be linked to the login page. But how can I do that?
    Some days ago our navigation has been complete in the faces-config.xml. But now we moved the navigation to the adfc-config.xml, because we are sure that it's better. E.g. for using the dialog framework.
    In the face-config.xml we had also the call of the phase-listener. There we did the forwarding like this and it worked:
    FacesContext facesContext = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
    facesContext.getApplication().getNavigationHandler().handleNavigation(facesContext, null, "login_page");But now I think I have to use the ADFContext somehow, or?
    So how can I do that with the adfc-config.xml?

    thanks for your answer, but it doesn't really help me, because I'm a newbie, sorry.
    Does your answer mean, that I should leave the call of the phase-listener in the faces-config and then I would also have access to the login-page, which is in the adfc-config?
    Or does it mean, that I call now my phase-listener by adf-settings but don't have to change the phase-listener itself and can still use my code (FacesContext...)? But that's not working. I get no error but he is also not redirecting.
    Maybe my problem starts on an earlier point.
    Is it better to create all pages in the adfc-config or faces-config? (Maybe you have a good reference for reading about such a basic discussion)
    I thought adfc-config would be the better one. But there I'm not able to redirect to another page (login) if somebody calls a special page without rights for example.
    So my second basic question would be about the relation of adfc-config, faces-config and ADFContext and FacesContext.
    Because I think it's not a short answer I hope you could give me also for this a reference so that I can read these basics myself.

  • Invoking an ADF Phase Listener

    Hi,
    I've created and configured an ADF Phase Listener, following Frank Nimphius's instructions from https://blogs.oracle.com/jdevotnharvest/entry/how_to_configure_an_adf_phase_listener_and_where_to_put_the_file
    But the listener code apparently never gets accessed when I'm running my application. Is there something else I need to do (other than what is mentioned in the above link) ?

    Hi Vinod,
    Thanks for your reply. It turns out that the problem was that I had managed to get adf-settings.xml and adf-config.xml mixed up because I was too tired when I wrote the code. With a proper adf-settings.xml file I can now see my listener code being accessed.

  • MyFaces not rendering, ADF faces IS rendering

    I'm installing my app on the websphere application server, Version 6.1 After having issues of both adf and myfaces not working, I came accross this link which helped me somewhat. http://wiki.apache.org/myfaces/Websphere_Installation .
    By "not working" I mean that my jsp would have <h:commandLink>'s and <af:commandButton/> however the html was never actually generated. (You could view the pages source and the resulting html page was blank).
    After following those instructions, ADF components are correctly rendered, and the html works. However, I can not use any <h:> or <h:> components.
    Keep in mind, every single part of this used to work while using Tomcat (I think it was 5.5, not 6).

  • Phase Listener in Subsystem deployed as BTF in Master - jdev 11.1.2.3

    Hello:
    We are using Subsystems with BTF's that are deployed as ADFLibs. These Subsystem ADFLibs are imported into a Master app and the BTF's are used as a region in the Master.
    I tried to create Phase Listener that displays System.out.println msgs in the Subsystem that was then used as a region in the Master app.
    But no messages from the Phase Listener appear on the console. What am I missing? Would the Phase Listeners have to be in the Master app?
    What if I wanted the Phase Listener of just the subsystem? Is this possible?

    First, ensure the phase listener is working in the subsystem app.
    Second, after the master app consumes the child app (as adflib), define the phase listener in the web.xml (within the masterapp).
    face-config and taskflow config files are combined but i dont think its the same case for web.xml.

  • ADF Faces: state saving method questions

    Please, could somebody elaborate implementation of state saving in ADF Faces? What specially interests me is a way on which it is improved in comparison with RI. Will be current implementation further improved regarding size of state which is stored in session or on client?
    Further, is it possible to make a read only page stateless? I tried naively to implement restore view phase listener which sets up transient property of view root to true. Page was rendered fine, but when I try to post something from that page NullPointerException was thrown from UIXComponentBase._getRendererImpl() method.

    I'm trying to do something very simple right now with two JSF pages using ADF BC/Faces. One page is a simple table allowing the user to select a row. The second page allows the user to view details on the selected row. This is view only at this point. I've found however, that if I select a row and go to the detail page and then hit the back button to return to the first page and then select another row and attempt to go to the detail page I get an error message like so:
    1. validation - JBO-29000: Unexpected exception caught: oracle.jbo.JboException, msg=JBO-35007: Row currency has changed since the user interface was rendered. The expected row key was oracle.jbo.Key[1246992000 ]

    I'm at a loss as to how to resolve this issue.

  • Phase Listener buries exceptions

    This is a JSF question sort of...
    Can anybody hazard a guess why my JSF Phase Listener does not show exceptions when one gets thrown in a method within this PhaseListener?
    I am using ADF/BC and JSF/ADF Faces within JDeveloper 10.1.3.4 and deploying to iAS 10.1.3.4.
    I have not tried the same thing in an ADFPhaseListener...chiefly because I wanted a beforePhase() and an afterPhase() method to override, and Source-->Override Methods did not show these methods as being overrideable...so I just used the normal JSF Phase Listener.
    My theory is that PhaseListener is perhaps accessed by many sessions?? So it has no way to know to where its stack traces should be directed. So I guess I should use logging with some sort of general catch clause for each method...any ideas will be entertained.

    Here's exactly what it says:
    The beforePhase() method is called before the standard processing for a particular phase is
    performed, while the afterPhase() method is called after the standard processing has been
    completed. The JSF implementation must guarantee that, if beforePhase() has been
    called on a particular instance, then afterPhase() will also be called, regardless of any
    Exceptions that may have been thrown during the actual execution of the lifecycle phase. For
    example, let’s say there are three PhaseListeners attached to the lifecycle: A, B, and C, in
    that order. A.beforePhase() is called, and executes successfully. B.beforePhase()
    is called and throws an exception. Any exceptions thrown during the beforePhase()
    listeners must be caught, logged, and swallowed. In this example, C.beforePhase()
    must not be called. Then the actual lifecycle phase executes. Any exceptions thrown during
    the execution of the actual phase must not be swallowed. When the lifecycle phase exits, due
    to an exeception or normal termination, the afterPhase() listeners must be called in
    reverse order from the beforePhase() listeners in the following manner.
    C.afterPhase() must not be called, since C.beforePhase() was not called.
    B.afterPhase() must not be called, since B.beforePhase() did not execute

  • Use of JSF Phase Listener?

    There are many many examples of how to 'access' the six phases of the JSF Life Cycle.
    I have a simple page that has two input text fields and one command button.
    I would like to be able to access the contents of the text fields on the page in Phase 2 (APPLY REQUEST VALUES), or other phases. After quite a bit of time I am posting this in the hopes that someone could point me in the correct direction to do this or perhaps someone has a simple example.

    The text field has a Id property of lname. I assume you are referring about using findComponent() against the backing bean that has a corresponding property (RichInputText) for the text field?
    When I run the app I am getting a null for the objReference for the backing bean (line 16 in the output) - see output which then causes a NullPointerException.
    Suggestions on how to get the reference to the backing bean, or the component that will contain the data for the input text field?

  • Which component fired phase listener ?

    - I have a custome PagePhaseListener and I would like to know which component of a page fired the listener. Something like:

  • Portlets with ADF faces does not work

    I am trying to portlize an hello world ADF application but am unable to do so because of the situation describe below. I have tried all the options given on this post but nothing seems to resolve the issue.

    A simple portlets without AFD works fine in oc4h or webcenter or jboss, but when I include ADF in the project then none of the application server or the container works
    I am using jdeveloper 10.1.3.2.0 and the embedded webcenter oc4j for this test
    I have two projects
    1) ui where the ADF appplication is and
    2) test1 where the producer is registered and is tested

    Then I tried to deploy the test1.jsp as a WAR file in the webcenter OC4J and tried this URL

    1. Is the Portlet Faces Bridge library in the project libraries?
    yes in both test1 project and ui project. ui project is where the ADF application is and test1 is where the producer is registered

    4. Yes I deployed it as the simple WAR file and NEVER as a WebCenter Application WAR
    I am assuming that when you refer to web.xml you refer to the one in my ui project where the ADF application is . There is another web.xml file in test1 project where I try to test the portlet. That web.xml is also pasted in my earlier blog

    My old problem is this Ineffectiveness/Inconsistency BC4J createrow in tomcat, CPU = 100%,Mem=2.2G
    I have tested my Adf Faces application with jmx in server and, in my machine, jconsole and mc4j.
    When cpu=100% and memory increases, jconsole constantly returned similar trace:
    In all trace, I see that common is:
    oracle.jbo.server.QueryCollection.populateRow(QueryCollection.java:2203)
    oracle.jbo.server.QueryCollection.fetch(QueryCollection.java:2088)
    Therefore, I believe that function populateRow make infinity loop (or fuction fech make infinity loop, called populateRow), but I don’t know populteRow or fetch code.

    In this documentation, first access, the cache miss, but the following times the cache could hit. .     StateManagerImpl.saveSerializedView tries to let UIViewRoot be a session
    attribute and the error message says it should be serializable; certainly it' not.
    I think HttpSession.setAttribute does not claim the object should be serializable.
    I don't know why apache's StandardSession.setAttribute claims so.

  • URGENT: ADF Faces table updating issue.

    I have a project that uses JSF, ADF Faces, EJB 3.0, and the ADF binding framework.
    In this project, I have a page with a databound ADF Faces Table. The table has a number of read-only columns and two read-write columns. I also have an Edit button that allows the user to pop up a dialog box to edit the selected row of the table. When the user clicks OK in the dialog box, the data is passed back to the main page and the table is updated.
    Everything works correctly for the read-only columns. For the read-write columns, however, the table data does not get updated following an edit. This is what I have found:
    1. The table row data gets passed in to the Edit dialog correctly.
    2. The data gets passed back correctly.
    3. The model gets updated correctly (up to and including the database).
    4. Looking at the iterator in the debugger shows the correct, updated data.
    5. When the table row is getting redrawn, the getter calls for the read-write columns return the updated data.
    6. As mentioned above, the read-only columns get updated correctly.
    7. Updating the read-write columns directly from the table works correctly.
    So, the problem appears to be in the GUI layer. I suspect that, somehow, the submitted values of the read-write columns are not getting set properly, but I cannot figure out how to do this.
    Note that clicking on the Edit button results in a partial submit. In the return listener, I add a call to AdfFacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addPartialTarget(getRecipientTable()) in order to redraw the table (getRecipientTable() is the bound value of the ADF table).
    Please help! We are so close to production and we need to fix this.

    I don't have a testcase for this, so I just come up with ideas to try
    1. refresh the parent container of the table. It seems that the input text components are not triggered to refresh if the refresh is on the table.
    2. If using ADF, make sure the update is performed directly on theiterator (which automatically is the case if you use a ADF bound form for this)
    3. Check if executing the table iterator and then setting back the current row makes a difference

  • ADF Faces: How do I set values for input controls in an af:table

    Use case: user enters master/detail information into an input form using an af:table for the desired number of detail rows.
    I have an ADF Faces input form with master level input controls, and an af:table (bound to a backing bean CoreTable) for the detail data set.
    The input controls are value bound to updateable view objects built from entity objects, with the appropriate view links providing master/detail iterators.
    Once the user has entered the master keys (via inputTexts, and selectOneChoices), I create a row in the detail VO, thus creating a visible blank row in the af:table.
    The user then completes the key for the detail row (in the af:table) by selecting a value in a selectOneChoice (in a af:column) with autoSubmit on and a valueChangeListener that sets the VO row attribute with the new value.
    The user then continues to enter into the remaining inputTexts and selectOneChoices in the af:columns until all values have been entered.
    I do not have autoSubmit on for any input controls in the af:columns other than the key, for performance improvement.
    The user can then use a command button (which has an action method) to create another row in the af:table.
    But, (in the action method) I need to set the values for the 1st detail VO row attributes, from the input controls, before creating another row.
    The input controls are bound to backing bean CoreInputText and CoreSelectOneChoice objects, and they have not set their values at this point, even though I have partialSubmit on for the "New Row" command button.
    I do not value bind the input controls in the af:columns to the backing bean objects, because we need to display data for all rows entered into the af:table.
    Any advice on the best way to perform this operation would be very appreciated!!!!

    Yes, I followed the techniques in Screencast#7, and it works great in my edit page.
    But I am having problems with my input form.
    I actually have master/detail/detail relationship for which I am creating an input form.
    I created the input form as a copy of the edit form, and am making revisions as necessary.
    I created new view objects for the input form (from my three entity objects), which have the "Tuning" set to retrieve "No Rows (i.e. used only for inserting new rows)"
    I added an invokeAction that binds the "CreateInsert" action on the master iterator, so when the page is first displayed, the master level controls are available for data entry (as in 13.6.2 in the Developers Guide): but the first level detail controls are not rendered, and the af:table (for the second level detail) is rendered but with no rows.
    Once the user enters key values for the master (a three part key), I manually create a first level detail row by executing the "CreateInsert" action binding for the first level detail iterator.
    Continuing on, the user then enters a key value for the first level detail I manually create a second level detail row using it's "CreateInsert" action binding.
    Now the user has a form with all master and first level detail controls completed and one empty row in the af:table for it's first entry.
    The key column in the af:table has autoSubmit on, and an value change listener. That listener uses it's getNewValue() to set the key value ("locationCode" in this case) using
    setLocationCode from the ViewRowImpl. Here is that value change listener:

But the values from the first row (other than the key column) are not assigned to the row in the collection and I can't figure out how to set values in the collection's row.
    I imagine I'm missing something using bindings and the Request Processing Lifecycle, and after reading this I can see how much manual work is going on.
    The users have specified the need to have all information available on one page, so I've designed it so they can insert and iterate through the first level detail collection.
    They have also asked to not use the mouse; they are looking for a "heads-down-data-entry" system.
    Again, I really appreciate any advice you could give.

  • Portletizing ADF Faces - Portlet Unavailable - Is there a Working Sample?

    It seems I have run into a similar issue as some people before me. I have watched all samples, read all relevant forum threads and yet I cannot solve my problem.
    I have created a very simple ADF Faces applications that uses DataBinding - it displays records from a database table in an af:table component based on ADF BC. I have created the page, added the Portlet Faces Bridge library to the project, created the portlet.xml, copied and pasted and configured the Portlet.xml contents for my Portlet. Deployment is to a local yet standalone WebCenter containing OC4J instance. Note: deploying to the preconfigured OC4J also did not work.
    When I register the Portletproducer, consume the portlet in an otherwise empty JSF page and run that page, I get the Portlet Unavailable message in the page. The error log is shown below.
    I am wondering where to go from here, what can I try to analyze? And also: is there a working sample available for download of an ADF Faces based portlet that can successfully be consumed by an application?

    I am trying to portlize an hello world ADF application but am unable to do so because of the situation describe below. I have tried all the options given on this post but nothing seems to resolve the issue.

    A simple portlets without AFD works fine in oc4h or webcenter or jboss, but when I include ADF in the project then none of the application server or the container works
    I am using jdeveloper 10.1.3.2.0 and the embedded webcenter oc4j for this test
    I have two projects
    1) ui where the ADF appplication is and
    2) test1 where the producer is registered and is tested
    In ui I have a simple jsp page untitled1.jsp with just one adf component (ADF Command Link)

    Then I tried to deploy the test1.jsp as a WAR file in the webcenter OC4J and tried this URL
    http://localhost:6688/AdfFacesDemoTest1/test1.jsp
    but it gave me this error
    500 Internal Server Error

    When I tried this URL I got a diffrent error. Googling this did not help at all
