ADF LOV and Cascading LOV in JDeveloper 11.1.1.5.0 Issue

Hi,
I have created business component ExpenseHdrView and added LOV and Cascaded LOV. If I run the application module I could see the LOV is working. It is displaying list of values and Return value(id value is not dispalyed as expected). But when I include the view in an ADF form then LOV is working but in the form when I select any value it is displaying the corresponding ID value. This is not in sync with business component.
I am new to this ADF world. Am I doing anything wrong or missing something?
Please help.
Thanks,
Mehabub

Hi Kalpesh,
I just tried, and didn't get that error - there must be something specific to your scenario. Have you tried the obvious solutions (reinstall)

  • Apex 4.2.1 - mobile theme display bugs and Cascading LOV bug

    I've setup a test at http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=35331 - username/password is test/test
    Simple page to show some issues I'm running into. Wondering if work-arounds exist or if a patch would be available before we'd go live.
    First and second issue are the same I believe. So - a normal text box (label1) looks fine. But, Label2 is a Display only item and Label3 is a read-only select list item. As you can see - both of the values appear smack dab right beside the label and not in line with the other fields. It's totally ugly and not usable as is. I've tried to move this over, but the label goes with it. I can see no way of doing it, but wondering if there's some hack I can put in to solve it...
    The last issues is with a cascading LOV. Simple table setup. Static on the first, the second a simple query that filters on the first. If you set the select list to Value Required and not to display null values - then when you click on the Second List button - it just hangs. The page is unusable. I suspect this has to do with the null or something. But - doesn't appear to matter if anything is chosen. Note - if the list is large - which I think then uses a different UI control, this is fine. Only when one of the lists is small does the issue reproduce.
    Any workarounds or fixes? Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    I would suggest to not mix different questions and a thread for each of them. Makes it easier for others to follow.
    About your problem with the cascading LOVs, it appears that this is/was a bug in jQuery Mobile which we use under the hood. I was able to reproduce the problem with APEX 4.2.1 using jQM 1.2.0, but was not able to reproduce it with APEX 5.0 which will use jQM 1.3.0RC1 or higher. The problem occurs if a select list is empty.
    There are different workarounds available:
    1) set the attribute "HTML Form Element Attributes" of P1_CLOV_2 to data-native-menu="false"or
    2) set the attribute "Display Null Value" of P1_CLOV_2 to Yes and "Null Display Value" to - select - (or something similar). The "Value Required" = Yes will still guarantee that a value has to be picked. Having the extra null entry will guarantee that the select list always contains an entry, that seems to workaround the bug in jQuery Mobile.
    I have filed bug 16355963 - jquery mobile: empty select list causes javascript error
    to track that this is definitely fixed in APEX 5.0.

  • Create and setup LOV programmatically

    In our application, we are defining view attributes programmatically. And we are trying to setup the LOV for the view attributes. Has anyone tried defining LOV and setup LOV for view attributes programmatically? Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    if you are talking about model driven LOV then I don't think you can do this. Even if you would have it created in the VO, you would then have to build the bindings for this in the pagedef file before you can hook it up to the UI. Dor now it seems that model driven LOV is a designtime feature.
    You could build a LOV model, as shown in teh ADF Faces RC component demo and manually create the LOV component to look up the attribute. But then you are still missing the pagedef binding if you use ADF.
    Frank
    Ps.: I made a lot of assumptions: You use JDeveloper 11, you use ADF Faces RC - because your question is incomplete in this area

  • Two Way Cascading LOV

    Hi I have a new requirement where the LOV Components are interdependent on each other
    for example I have master LOV and Child LOV ( 1: n Relationship)
    If I have a Master LOV value say M1 then Child LOV values should be queried based on the value selected in MasterLOV. (Master->Child)
    also if the user Directly goes to ChildLOV and selects a value say Child1M1 then the Master LOV should be defaulted to M1. (Child->Master)
    Hope I was able to put my issue clearly. Please help me with any helpful How to Links or steps to achieve this.
    Thanks
    TK

    As I understand, this cannot be done declarative-ly. But can be pro-grammatically.
    Depicting the scenario specified with sample use case:
    DEPARTMENTS EMPLOYEES
    D1 ................... E1
    D1 ................... E2
    D1 ................... E3
    D2 ................... E4
    D2 ................... E5
    1) Build LOV's based on all departments & all employees and use them selectOneChoice components.
    2) Whenever the user selects/changes a department through the department LOV, have a valueChangeListener that will filter employees for the particular department. A View Criteria has to be executed on the employees - in order to filter.
    3) Whenever the user selects a employee, In the valueChangeListener, identify the department for the selected employee and ensure that the department LOV has the current selected item as that of the current department of the selected employee.
    For 2) and 3) to work, we need to ensure that PPR is defined properly.
    Please let know, if you need any more inputs regarding the same.
    Thanks,
    Navaneeth

  • Basing an LOV on another LOV

    In a HTML web form, how can I have a LOV (Drop-Down list) based on DEPT, that populates another LOV with all the employees from EMP in the department selected in the first LOV.
    I can do it in Javascript but I need to derive my values from tables.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    I dont think you can pass on the table values to a javascript function.
    You can definitely use the HTP cartridge functions to display table
    data in HTML. There would be a specific HTP or HTF function to build
    a form drop down list. I think it's a combination of htp.formSelectOpen
    and htp.formSelectOption. Check the documentation here:
    http://kontti.helsinki.fi:8889/ows-adoc/psqlwtl9.htm
    Populating the EMP LOV should be straight forward unless you are
    not looking to change the EMP LOV and DEPT LOV dynamically.

  • Cascading lovs in Jdeveloper  R2

    on Jdev R2.
    I was doing several different Test with Jdev R2 regarding to cascading Lov and lovs components.
    here are results.
    lets split them in two flavors.
    I. Forms.
    a) cascading lovs works fine only if you use : input text item with lovs. (this one works fine even if you do not set autosubmit on the master and partial trigger on dependent lovs, .......cool)
    b) if you choose selectOneChoise, "what is really nice for short list" it does not work. not even if you set autosubmit and partial trigger.
    II. af:table
    a) on editing mode: editAll
    * using input text with lov works (you do not need to set autosubmit/partial triggers) but every time when you select a value from a list, an ugly error araise saying : field1 is required. field2 is required...to all require attributes (you can work after click)
    * using selectOneChoise did not work. after you select the first lov the next lov is surrounded by red square and never get refreshed.
    b) on editing mode: clickToEdit :
    this is really cool and fast, but cascading lovs does not work at all. not even input text with lovs
    has anybody any feedback/workaround/idea on this one, or should we wait until these bug get fixed, hopefully in the new release.
    also I was wondering what is the best approuch to execute some java code on load/unload.?
    thank you for any help.
    Luis

    to call java on load use af:clientlistener along with af:serverlistener.. use the type as load
    http://blogs.oracle.com/jdevotnharvest/entry/how-to_call_server_side_java_from_javascript
    or use the beforephase and afterphase property of f:view, refer navaneeth code here
    popup on page load using managed bean, using jdev-11.4
    use af:document's onunload property for unloading event and java calls

  • Creating Binding Between ADf input LOV and ViewObject at runtime

    I am creating binding at runtime between ADf input LOV and with attribute of ViewObject. When we create this binding at design time, following entry is added in pagedef of page:
    <listOfValues StaticList="false" IterBinding="UdfVO1Iterator"
    Uses="LOV_Udf1" id="Udf1"/>
    I am creating this binding at runtime instead of design time by creating JUCtrlListBinding object by following code:

    vb.setName("Udf1");

  • Cascading LOVs (v4) and retaining the child value

    I've implemented the default delivered implementation in version 4 (4.0.2.00.07 to be exact) of cascading LOVs. Working fine except for one thing...after refresh of a child LOV, the previously selected value is wiped out even when it's still a valid value in the child LOV. If it's an invalid value, I can understand that it would be wiped out, but if it's still valid, I'd like it to be retained.
    Example...let's say I have these two select-lists (parent and child).
    P100_PARENT
    P100_CHILD
    P100 Child's SQL references P100_PARENT:
    where b.child = NVL(a.parent,b.child)
    Optimize refresh is also set to 'No' because I need the child to refresh to all children selections when parent is null.
    In short, the parent is optional. If Parent is null, show all child options regardless of Parent. If Parent is defined, show only the child options for the parent.
    So when parent is null, I get all child options (OK). I pick one.
    If I go to parent and change it to a specific value that IS the parent of the child I chose, my expectation is the child select list should refresh (it does) but if my chosen value is still in the list, it should scroll to it and select it. Instead, it wipes it out.
    To put some values into the example...
    Let's say parent values are:
    A
    B
    C
    null
    Let's say child values are numbers such that valid values are:
    1 through 10 when parent is A
    11 through 20 when parent is B
    20 through 30 when parent is C
    1 through 30 (any child value) when parent is null.
    So I have a null parent LOV value and the child shows me 1 through 30 (OK). I pick 15.
    I change the parent to 'B'. Child list refreshes (OK). But while 15 is still a valid value in the list, it is not selected again (my value is wiped out). I still want it to have '15' selected.
    Any workaround? Is this a bug? Enhancement opportunity?

  • Cascading LOV - and order by clause?

    Hi, I have a collection that makes use of cascading lovs.
    The cascading lov works properly, but I would like the return values sorted alphabetically and cannot figure out why they are not. If I run the query in SQL, it runs perfectly.
    My query is:
    select......
    apex_item.select_list_from_query_xl(15,c015,'select port_name, port
    from valid_ports

  • ADF UIX LOV and JBO-33035

    I'm working on a UIX form which is based on a view, ViewA, which is built up from two entities - e.g. EntA and EntB. Between the entities there is a relation EntA is the child and EntB is the parent. In the view definition EntA is updateable and EntB is not updateable but referenced. ViewA contains all of the fields from EntA (including the foreign key) and Name field from EntB. I also created ViewB which is based on EntB.
    ViewA now has the following fields:
    AId (based on EmpA.Id, updateable)
    AField (based on EmbA.Field, updateable)
    A_B_Fk (based on EmbA.B_Fk, which is the fk. between EmpA and Emp B, updateable)
    BName (based on EmbB.Name, not updateable because of it is part of the referenced, but not updateable EntB)
    I put the views into an application module.
    After that I made a UIX input form based on ViewA. In this form the I displayed only the AField and BName fields. The latter is a messageLovInput node. Because ViewA.BName is a not updateable field I do not use 'model' attibute, I fill the text and prompt attribute with EL expressions instead. When the user presses the LOV button the LOV window appears. There in the 'onSelect' event I set ViewA.A_B_Fk as I saw in the 'ADF_UIX_ListOfValues' sample. Everything seams to work, the referenced EntB is properly filled according to the new value of ViewA.A_B_Fk, but I got JBO-33035: the currency has changed, the expected Key is ...
    I would like to know how should I implement a LOV in a case like this?
    It's very important for me to get through this problem, because I must solve several similar case and the closing date is so near.
    Any help appreciated,
    Gábor

    Ryan,
    Thanks, I've read it and I did my LOV based on that.
    But:
    In that article the LOV field (department id) was just a simple attribute of the EmployeesView and if you had changed dept. id then nothing else would have changed in EmployeesView. In my example if you changed ViewA.A_B_Fk then ViewA.BName would change!
    The problem could be the following (Suppose thet the ViewA edit form is in EditViewA.uix, and the LOV page is LOV.uix):
    If you change ViewA.A_B_Fk in LOV.uix (as we can see in the examle you mentioned) BC4J selects the appropriate EntB and fills ViewA.BName properly. After that EditViewA.uix is refreshed and prepareMethod called. It notifies that the referenced entity is not the same as before and it throws the exception (I don't know why).
    I made a workaround: in LOV.uix I put the selected value into a session variable and I use this value in the lovUpdate event of EditViewA.uix. It seems it works but it could be nicer.
    What do you think about this?
    Gábor

  • Cascading LOV in af:table will not refresh correctly

    Jdeveloper version 11.1.1.5.0
    I have spent quite a bit of time trying to understand why 2-level cascading LOV won't work in a particular situaion. I still haven't been able to fix it and so I turn to the ADF gurus on this forum.
    Here's the scenario:
    1. I have a ViewObject called AdjustDeltaValuesView. This VO contains attributes from its entity. It also has transient attributes called CategoryId and CodeId.
    2. There is LOV defined for CategoryId for VO CodeCategoryMasterView
    3. There is LOV defined for CodeId for LimitedCodeMasterView.
    3. View Criteria is created for LimitedCodeMasterView which sets a bind variable value from CodeCategoryMasterView.CodeCategoryId.
    4. I have wired all the LOVs correctly and it is working properly in ADF BC tester.
    5. In the UI, I have dropped AdjustDeltaValuesView data control as ADF Table where CategoryId and CodeId are displaying as af:selectOneChoice.
    6. CategoryId has autoSubmit=true and CodeId has partialTrigger set to component ID of CategoryId.
    7. The LOV inside editable af:table is working fine except one scenario that when user selects same categoryId from the category LOV in the second row, the CodeId LOV will not populate.
    Here's the code snippet of jspx:
            <af:table value="#{bindings.AdjustDeltaValuesView1.collectionModel}"
                      var="row" rows="#{bindings.AdjustDeltaValuesView1.rangeSize}"
                      emptyText="#{bindings.AdjustDeltaValuesView1.viewable ? 'No data to display.' : 'Access Denied.'}"
                      fetchSize="#{bindings.AdjustDeltaValuesView1.rangeSize}"
                      rowBandingInterval="0"
                      selectedRowKeys="#{bindings.AdjustDeltaValuesView1.collectionModel.selectedRow}"
                      selectionListener="#{bindings.AdjustDeltaValuesView1.collectionModel.makeCurrent}"
                      rowSelection="single" id="t1" editingMode="editAll"
                      rendered="false">
              <af:column sortProperty="CategoryId" sortable="false"
                         headerText="#{bindings.AdjustDeltaValuesView11.hints.CategoryId.label}"
                         id="c25">
                <af:selectOneChoice value="#{row.bindings.CategoryId.inputValue}"
                                    label="#{row.bindings.CategoryId.label}"
                                    required="#{bindings.AdjustDeltaValuesView11.hints.CategoryId.mandatory}"
                                    shortDesc="#{bindings.AdjustDeltaValuesView11.hints.CategoryId.tooltip}"
                                    id="soc3" autoSubmit="true">
                  <f:selectItems value="#{row.bindings.CategoryId.items}" id="si3"/>
                </af:selectOneChoice>
              </af:column>
              <af:column sortProperty="CodeId" sortable="false"
                         headerText="#{bindings.AdjustDeltaValuesView11.hints.CodeId.label}"
                         id="c27">
                <af:selectOneChoice value="#{row.bindings.CodeId.inputValue}"
                                    label="#{row.bindings.CodeId.label}"
                                    required="#{bindings.AdjustDeltaValuesView11.hints.CodeId.mandatory}"
                                    shortDesc="#{bindings.AdjustDeltaValuesView11.hints.CodeId.tooltip}"
                                    id="soc4" partialTriggers="soc3">
                  <f:selectItems value="#{row.bindings.CodeId.items}" id="si4"/>
                </af:selectOneChoice>
              </af:column>For example, where it DOES NOT Work
    1. User selects Category A from dropdown from the first row.
    2. code Id dropdown populates with corresponding values in the list based on CategoryId user selected.
    3. user selects Code X from the dropdown.
    4. User selects Category A from the dropdown from the second row.
    5. PROBLEM: In the second row, Code Id dropdown does not populate. Code dropdown is empty.
    Where it works:
    1. User selects Category A from dropdown from the first row.
    2. code Id dropdown populates with corresponding values in the list based on CategoryId user selected.
    3. User selects Category A from the dropdown from the second row.
    4. In the second row, Code Id dropdown populates correctly.
    Where it works:
    1. User selects Category A from dropdown from the first row.
    2. code Id dropdown populates with corresponding values in the list based on CategoryId user selected.
    3. user selects Code X from the dropdown.
    4. User selects Category B from the dropdown from the second row.
    5. In the second row, Code Id dropdown populates correctly.
    Has anyone come across this scenario? It's a very weird problem.
    I hope I have explained this well. If it's not clear please let me know.

    Hi,
    Always mention your JDev version.
    Try modifying your VOs as explained in this blog and see if it works fine : https://blogs.oracle.com/aramamoo/entry/how_to_create_multi_level

  • Cascading LOV in a Query panel (af:query)

    Hi
    I have a requirement to implement few Cascading LOV's in a Query panel. I have created the VO's for the LOV's with bind variable and view criteria and linked them. It works for the BC viewer. But to enable in the ADF UI, the partial trigger needs to be enabled on individual field. And the af:query encapsulates the fields and they are not exposed. Can someone help me with a solution or a pointer
    Many thanks

    Thanks for the pointer
    Well I followed the the steps, and implemented the same for two LOV's. I'm getting "Server Exception during PPR, #1". Would be able to identify where I'm going wrong please.

  • Are cascading LOVs possible in af:query?

    Is it possible to have two or more cascading LOVs in an af:query area based on a view criteria?
    I'm having some trouble with dependant (child) LOVs: they filter correctly but return nothing to the field from which were launched.
    I can attach a code snippet if necessary
    Thanks
    JDeveloper 11.1.1.3.0 with ADF BC
    Anybody has ever tried it?

    Is it possible to have two or more cascading LOVs in an af:query area based on a view criteria?Yes, it is possible
    There might be something wrong in the configuration, Can you upload the sample app so that it will be easy to figure out the issue.

  • Get('XML') doesn't work, but get() does in javascript - CASCADING LOVs

    I'm trying to get cascading LOVs working in Apex 3.1.0 in Oracle 11g. When I call get.get('XML') it returns null in firefox and empty string in IE6. If I change it to call get.get() then it returns the XML as a string into Javascript.
    The Application process is getting called in both scenarios as i've put PL/SQL logging to disk in order to prove it. The XML being returned is very basic so i'm sure it's not a problem with formatting. I'm not getting any exceptions thrown in javascript either.
    Is it possible to use get.get() and then convert the text into an XML object which is returned as per get.get('XML') which at least will allow me to get something working ?
    thanks

    Hi,
    I've been trying to replicate your problem here: [http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=37055:1]
    My application process is:
    BEGIN
    OWA_UTIL.mime_header ('text/xml', FALSE);
    HTP.p('Cache-Control: no-cache');
    HTP.p('Pragma: no-cache');
    OWA_UTIL.http_header_close;
    HTP.prn('<select>');
    HTP.prn('<option value="-1">Please Select</option>');
    HTP.prn('</select>');
    END;(Just copied from your post and XML changed to xml, otherwise untouched)
    And my page has a simple HTML region with the source of:
    &lt;div id="XMLOUTPUT" style="border:1px solid blue; width:200px; height:200px;"&gt;&lt;/div&gt;
    &lt;div id="XMLOUTPUT2" style="border:1px solid blue; width:200px; height:200px;"&gt;&lt;/div&gt;

    var d = html_GetElement('XMLOUTPUT');
    d.innerHTML = gReturn;

    d2.innerHTML = get.get();
    var s = gReturn.getElementsByTagName("select");
    alert(s.length);
    &lt;/script&gt;
    &lt;a href="javascript:getMyXML();"&gt;Click&lt;/a&gt;Click on Click at the bottom of the page. The first DIV gets the get.get('XML') object and the second one the get.get() and a popup message tells you how many "select" items are in the XML version.
    As far as I can see, this works fine.
