Set-Up System Monitoring

when i transaction SOLUTION_MANAGER and Choose Solution Monitoring  System Monitoring, in the Operations Set-Up area  at the overview area where you see system monitoring set-up i cant find or rather change it to change mode..that icon for change is not there..all i see are the bestpractice document..how will i setup my system monitoring when i can find the change icon.help asap.

HI Dayo,
Maybe the problem is when you created RFCs from Solution Manager to Satellite System you didn't confirm the checkbox "Assign RFC Conection for System Monitoring". If it's what happened, you should regenerate the RFCs and make sure that that checkbox is confirmed.
On the other hand, SAP Note 455356 Requirements for System Monitoring in Solution Manager can help.
I hope this could help you.
Regards,
Tomas.

    Hi,
From transaction SMSY, make sure you have the target system defined with proper connection setup. once it's defined, attach your target system to an existing or new Landscape solution.
After that you should be able to see the config. option in transaction Solution Manager.
    Hope this helps,

  • Monitoring/Alerting Set up options in SM - System Monitoring

    Comrades
When configuring Solution monitoring in SM 4.0 for our lanscape the customised CCMS monitor set (created in RZ20 of Target Sysem) needs to be imported during set-up system monitoring process
1.Is it possible to import the customised CCMS context in solution monitoring during set up?
2.In the current system monitoring configuration certain DB related monitors are not visible (displayed) though they are configured properly is something to be done ?
Also looking on the following alerting options E-mail,SMS and SNMP Traps from the SM 4.0.My understanding is E-mail and SMS are based on Central autoreaction methods on the Alert Monitor.
3.Is it possible to configure E-mail and SMS without CCMS Agents on Target Systems ? and Is there a way of configuring  E-mail and SMS other than Central Auto Reaction Methods ?
4.Are there any prerequistes (Agents, Software, packages ) for configuring SNMP Traps from SM ?
I have done some reading and searching on these points and pretty unclear on these aspects.Kindly share your knowledge on this area.
    Kindly Respond
    Many a Thanks

I managed to set up an account manually on the C7 but I had to trick the email application by entering an invalid email address and password. After it could not find my account it then opened up all the settings and permitted me to add the manual IMAP settings, reply to address and other details. After I committed the settings, the phone recognised the account as a gmail account and it locked down all the settings again so I could not go back and change them if wrong.
I was quite chuffed with myself for seemingly resolving all my issues.....but on using the new account settings I could not sync the gmail sent / bin folders. All the other folders synchronised fine and when I send email it has the correct reply to address. Strangely this matches the best results I obtained when connecting using the Mail for Exchange settings so am no further forward. I am a little confused by this as when I let the phone set up the Gmail account on it's own it can sync everything.....but I just can't
I am now hoping that the new software update (PR1.2) gets email working a little better....well when I eventually get it hehe.

  • Set up of System Monitoring with SPS 15 only through "Work center"

    Hi!
We use SAP Solution Manager SPS 15 and would like to set up System Monitoring function in order to monitor satellite systems.
Is is only possible as of SPS 15 with tcode "solman_workcenter"?
I have heared as of SPS 15 the tcode "dswp" provides only Display view...
    Thank you very much!

    Hello
Is is only possible as of SPS 15 with tcode "solman_workcenter"?
--> If you want to configure Solution Monitoring, you can follow rkt in service market place. With SP15, SAP has given additional functionality to access solutions or projects through work centers. Now its up to you to use this functionality or you can directly go to solution_manager or DSWP to configure, doesnt matter.
I have heared as of SPS 15 the tcode "dswp" provides only Display view...
--> Have you tried? Its not Display, either way through work center you are going to access the same transaction. Please check.
    Thanks

  • System Monitoring set up

    Hi All,
I  am using solution manager 7.0 on linux and DB2 and want to setup system monitor on solution manager 7.0.
    But whn I goto DSWP->operation setup->system monitoring
I cant see "set- up system monitor" button under to start confiuring it.
Any idea why there is no button to start configuring ?????
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Please check
    Transaction: SMSY
Under Landscape Components-> Product Systems-> SAP CRM (Eg.)-> SID-> CRM Application Server-> Client
Select the client and then click on Check RFC Destinations button on top towards right. Then in the next screen select the check box Assign RFC Destination for System Monitoring and click on Check button and then Green tick mark.
After this also in transaction dswp Solution-> Solution Landscape->Solution Landscape Maintenance under System Group tab all the relevant Logical Components are assigned.
    It should solve the issue.
    Hope this helps.

  • System monitoring - DSWP and RZ21

    Hi all,
I am using sap solution managers workcenter "System monitoring" to set up the sap monitornig for a huge landscape. This works well, but to receive alerts (e.g. per mail)  I additionaly have to do the settings in RZ21 (assign central autoreactions). This is not very comfortable because each setting has to be done twice (in dwsp and rz21) and there is also the risk to forget something. Do you know any other possibility? Do you know about plans to integrate the functions of RZ21 into DSWP?
    Thanks

  • System monitoring - alert email notification

    Hello Sapers,
I already set up system monitoring in our Solution Manager but i would like to receive mail if any alert occur.  Unfortunatelly I did not find any way how to do it through Solution Manager. I guess there must be something like edit -> Automatic email transmission where I set up sending Earlywatch and SL reports to my mailbox, but how to set up alert email notification?
I also tried another way - setting up CEN (in our sollution manager) in RZ20, there i created monitor where i have desired alerts from all remote systems configured in SMSY (i have not used sapccm4x or any other ccms agent), also tried autoreaction method on local and it is working fine (SCOT is set up) but when i tried create and assign central autoreaction method (sapnote 429265) during assigning i receive error "no ccms agent avalable for system" and it is not working. Do I really need configure SAPCCM4X on all remote systems when i want to use central autoreaction? I dont feel very confortable with this solution. I think there must be some other smarter way (maybe in solution manager).
We also tried to connect our RZ20 monitor set to nagios (used in our company to monitor non sap servers and email notification), but we are not able to compile the ccms nagios plugin uder 64bit. AIX 5.3.
I also heard little bit about ALM (Alert management) but dont know anything about forwarding alerts from RZ20 to ALM and transmitting email from there. But I think this sollution would be the most difficult from all mentioned above.
Thank you very much for any help

    Josef,
Somewhat chasing the point here - when you have the Solman and you look in your CCMS and you can see the other systems - it is all RFC data and not actually on the Solution Manager (the only local MTE's are those tha belong to the Solution Manager).  For the Solution Manager to Centrally Auto-React to threasholds (act as the CEN System), the information needs to be passed to the Central System through the agents.
If you want to do email threasholds on your remote systems, you can configure it on each of the systems individually without agents as this is a CCMS Function that any SAP System can do - but this is not Central Auto-Reaction.  This is just actions taken on individual systems based on local MTE's.
To Centrally Auto-React - you have to add the agents so the information is passed to the CEN to react on.
I hope that this has clarified the situation a bit more.  If this answers your question, please set this thread to answered.

  • System Monitoring in Solution Manager 4.0

    Hi all,
I want to set up system monitoring for landscape BW, ECC and SCM systems using Solution Manager 4.0 and am new to Sol Man.
So could anyone please help me with the steps.
    Thanks in advance,
    Sandeep.

    Sandeep,
Trust me, there is no one resource that you can refer to and complete this system monitoring project. I recently configured this a couple of days ago. I can tell you that I haven't completed it yet. I have only completed the configuring the 'System Monitoring' part of it. I am yet to define monitors so that, I can monitor what I want of the satellite systems. So far, it took me about 4 days. Let me point out the basic steps you need to follow. Beyond that, please refer to the links I paste below:
Steps to configure 'System Monitoring' in Solution Manager:
    1. Follow the 'Solution Manager Preparation' found under SPRO --> Solution Manager --> Read Me.
    2. Make sure you have the latest ST-ICO and ST-SER installed in your Solution Manager (Note: 892412).
    3. Make sure the Solution Manager has the latest support packages applied.
    4. Prepare the 'Satellite Systems' as per note 455356:
         a. Create the role 'SAP_BC_CSMREG' (if it doesn't exist) with the following authorization objects
--> S_CCM_RECV (with the objects and values mentioned in the above note)
--> S_RFC (with the objects and values mentioned in the above note)
--> S_RZL_ADM (with the objects and values mentioned in the above note)
--> S_CUS_CMP (with the objects and values mentioned in the above note)
         b. Create a 'communication' user CSMREG (if it doesn't exist) and assign the profile S_CSMREG
    5. Create the user CSMREG in Solution Manager using RZ21 transaction
-->RZ21 --> Technical Infrastructure --> Configure Central System --> Create CSMREG user (Provide the required password and confirm).
    6. An agent needs to be registered in all the satellite systems that collects the monitor statistics and pass on to the Solution Manager. Before registering the agent in the satellite system, a 'CSMCONF' file has to be generated in the Solution Manager and store it in a central location which, will be used by the CCMS agent while registration. This CSMCONF file holds the communication details for the agent to talk to the Solution Manager. To create CSMCONF file, proceed as follows:
--> RZ21 --> Technical Infrastructure --> Configure Central System --> Create Start CSMCONF for Agents
--> Store the file in a central location that can be accessed by the satellite system/s.
    7. In the satellite system, copy the file 'CSMCONF' to the working directory of SAPCCM4X (F:\usr\sap\PD1\SYS\DVEBMGS01\log\sapccm4x - for example. If the 'sapccm4x' folder does not exist, create one).
    8. Copy the downloaded 'SAPCCM4X.exe' file to the kernel directory on the satellite system.
    9. Execute "sapccm4x -R pf=<path of the instance profile>". This should ask for the 'CSMREG' password and the admin user password on the solution manager system. Please input the same and confirm other questions. Upon confirmation, the CCMS agent should be registered in the satellite system.
10.Make sure you establish the trusted RFC connection on the Solution Manager to the satellite system you would want to monitor. This you can do from 'SMSY' transaction.
11.After successfully creating the RFC connections, and assigning the system to a logical component, please go to transaction, 'SOLUTION_MANAGER'. You can see the monitored system in the System Overview.

  • System monitoring configuration in solution manager EHP1

    Hi all
I am in a bit of fix
We have upgraded our solution manager devlopment to EHP1
Now I have added one system through SMSY in solution manager to configure system monitoring
I have generated all the RFC's,I have created the logical component and solution and assigned the system to the solution
When I check my solution it is looking fine
Now when I go within solution and click on the tab system monitoring
It shows me on the left hand side -> Set up system monitoring
when I click on Set up system monitoring on the left part of SAP screen, strangely it doesnt take me to the activation of screen monitoring,it just shows me the best practices documents on the right side but nothing more than that
I have checked many guides, blogs and SAP tutors anfd have followed them but strangely I am not been able to go to the screen for activating system monitoring
Are there any activities that need to be done after upgrading to EHP1?
Are there any services to be activated for system monitoring?
    Please advice
    Rohit

I'm not 100% sure that it is necessary, but it won't hurt.
Perhaps the essential adjustment you need for system monitoring is being done in there.
    It won't hurt

  • Automatic System Monitoring Reports

    Hello Solution Manager Experts!
We already successfully set up System Monitoring for several SAP ERP and NetWeaver systems on SAP Solution Manager 7.1.
Now we would like to automatically send system monitoring/ IT Performance reports by e-mail to all the System Administrators. This should be done daily.
Does the new SAP Solution Manager 7.1 provide this function (generation of daily automatic Reports in background and sending these reports by e-mail)?
Any helpful information will be very appreciated
    Kind regards

    Hello,
    You're welcome.
The prerequisites are: execute solman_setup entirely and execute the managed system configuration for the monitored host. These tasks includes the SMD Agent, which will communicate the system with Solution Manager.
Regarding RZ20 reports, as far as I know you have the actual IT performance reporting and, in a top level, the EarlyWatch  Report.
As you may know, 7.1 presents a new infrastructure for Technical Monitoring and Alerting
It is the SAPu2019s new standard for central Monitoring and Alerting . The u201COldu201D System Monitoring work center based on central CCMS still available. You can do what you used to do with CCMS and also do even more with it, in a simpler way.
    Best regards,
    Guilherme

  • System Monitoring setup: missing database

I would like to set up System monitoring functionality for satellite system in SOLMAN.
    The following problems occurred:
    1) Missing database component of the system in System Monitoring set up
Usually the system has the following components in System Monitoring set up:
    a) SAP Application Server
    b) Server <servername>
    c) Database <SID>-Database
For my satellite system the Database component c) is missed.
How can this component be activated? The satellite system has MaXDB
    2) Missing system entries in tcode RZ20
I miss the entries of the system e.g. Shortdumps Frequency, AbapErrorInUpdate, Shortdumps in tcode RZ20.
How will the system values added into the RZ20?
    Thank you very much!
    regards

    Solved!
You just need to maintain the DB in SMSY

  • System monitoring (standard alerting elements)

    Hello!
I am about to set up system monitoring, primarly for my SOLMAN and of course for the sattelite systems.
Is there some reccomendations, which (standard) alerting elements (e.g. daily tasks) are to choose for this issue? (e.g. DB check, short dumps, locked user, etc.)
    Thank you very much!
    regards

    Hi!
    Many thanks for your response.
I would like to monitor all the systems with SAP DB, e.g. I would like to monitor DB part.
The very interesting MTE class for me is CCMS_DB_mcmtc with the following elements:
    - Used Log Space
    - Last successful Complete Data Backup
    - Last Complete Data Backup Return Code
The problem is, if I define this monitor in Tcode RZ20, then I receive the warning for the appropriate satelite system:
    <b><SID> : MTE class CCMS_DB_mcmtc : No MTEs currently available</b>
What are the technical steps to solved this problem?
    Thank you very much indeed!
    regards

  • System Monitoring and CCMS Monitors

In our production environment we have working CCMS Monitors set up thru RZ20.
However if I go to solution_manager->system monitoring->operations tab, there are no alerts displayed on the page. Does system monitoring use the same backend as CCMS Monitoring? I am a little bit confused on this. If we set up System Monitoring, will this duplicate the CCMS Monitors we've previously set up?

If you want to see alerts on Operation tab in solution_manager->Solution Monitoring->System Monitoring you first need to run "Setup System Monitoring" (link is just below tab Operation or run in from Operations Setup tab). Setup will not duplicate CCMS monitors. It will just mark which of the available alerts should be taken into account for solution_manager->Solution Monitoring->System Monitoring report.

  • How to set up dual monitors with a Mac Mini

The Mac Mini has only one video output port. I very nearly didn't buy a Mac Mini system because I need to work with two monitors. I use the second monitor to display information in Web pages, PDFs, and Word documents while I am working in the main window.
However, I discovered after quite a bit of Googling that it is possible to set up dual monitors using an inexpensive USB video adapter (about $70).
So I bought my Mini (1.83Ghz, 2GB RAM, 200GB 7200rpm Seagate Momentus), and I also bought a USB video adapter called the EVGA Plus.
I've installed this system and used it now for a week, and I am quite pleased with it. So I thought I'd pass this information along to anyone who's interested. Please note that, although this is my first post to this forum, this isn't spam -- I have no financial relationship with any of the companies mentioned here, other than as a customer.

    EVGA Plus:

Their literature does not mention Mac OS X compatibility. However, the underlying technology is made by Display Link. You can download beta Mac OS X drivers from their site:
Go to Display Link to download the beta Mac OS support -- see
    http://www.displaylink.com/macbetadrivers.html
The disk image includes a very well written PDF document that explains the driver's status and limitations.

    NOTES
    * The DisplayLink driver is beta. It doesn't support 2D or 3D accelerated graphics. You can't use it to display iPhoto slide shows, for example. However, I need to be able to display a Web page, document, or PDF in the second monitor while I am working in the first. I've found this solution to be quite acceptable for this purpose.
    * Several other companies make USB video units that use the same DisplayLink support, so they should work, too. However, they are more expensive -- largely because they're set up to function as port expanders, I believe. The EVGA Plus was the only unit priced under $100 when I did my search.
    * USB does not have very much bandwidth, so you might be surprised that to hear that it's possible to use USB to drive a monitor! You'll find that the display isn't as fast as DVI, but for my purposes, I've found it quite acceptable.
    * The EVGA Plus comes with a terrible USB to mini USB cable that will cause all sorts of display problems. Replace it with the type of cable that is used to hook up digital cameras to a USB port.
    * Once everything is installed, you can use the Displays in System Preferences (or just click the icon on the menu bar) to adjust the second monitor. You can choose display resolutions (depending on your monitor's ability, of course). Rotation works. You can also right-click the second monitor and choose a different background color or graphic.
Don't expect miracles. Don't go this route if you want to run videos or games in the second monitor. And if you get an EVGA Plus, replace that horrible cable!
I hope this information is helpful.
    Bryan

There has been quite a lot of discussion here about driving twin displays with the mini, and more recently about the potential for USB video adapters to facilitate this, particularly in the light of several vendors claiming they have suitable MacOS devices and drivers 'almost ready'.
The DisplayLink solution seems to be the one most suggested as viable, though it's a pity they have not yet been able to move their drivers from beta - I suspect that puts a few people off. It's therefore good to hear of a real-world experience that should help others decide whether or not to go this route!
