ADF page with optional login using mod_osso authentication

Using JDeveloper 10.1.3.2.0
I am converting a pure jsp page into an ADF page. This page is not restricted but allows a user additional funtionality if they log into Portal. The original jsp used mod_osso authentication to allow a user to log in. Once the user's name was known from the login then the screen could save information specific to a user and if the user had to return later all they had to do was login in once again to get their personal information back. However it was not a requirement for any user to use this functionality.
In converting to ADF however I can't figure out how to code the mod_osso call successfully. I created a command button and behind the button but the following code:
public String commandButton_action() throws IOException {
// Add event code here...
String userName = getUserSSO();
userLoginName.setValue(userName);
return null;
private String getUserSSO() throws IOException {
String message = "";
FacesContext fc = FacesContext.getCurrentInstance();
((HttpServletResponse) FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getResponse()).setContentType("text/html");
String userSignon = (String)((HttpServletRequest) FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getRequest()).getAttribute("USER_NAME");
if(userSignon == null || userSignon.length() <= 0)
userSignon = ((HttpServletRequest) FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getRequest()).getRemoteUser();
if(userSignon == null || userSignon.length() <= 0)
((HttpServletResponse) FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getResponse()).setHeader("Osso-Paranoid", "false");
((HttpServletResponse) FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().getResponse()).sendError(499, "Oracle SSO");
} else
message = "found user name " + userSignon;
return message;
Could please comment on whether I am even on the right track or point me to some documentation on mod_osso authentication and ADF such that the authentication is optional? Currenlty I get "No Response from Web Application Server" when I attempt the above.
Thanks,
Cathy

I added a call to FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().responseComplete(); right before the setHeader and sendError but that did not resolve my issue. Any advice on how to further trace down the issue?
Thanks,
Cathy

  • Designer takes several minutes for login using LDAP authentication

    We have a issue, when we tried to login to the designer using LDAP authentication it takes several minutes and using enterprise account we are able to login to the designer with in seconds.
    CMC and infoview all are working fine using LDAP authentication.
    We are using BOXIR2,
    FP 1.6.
    Thank You in Advance.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Collin.

    There have been several changes in LDAP since FP 1.6 but if infoview is ok then hopefully you aren't running into any of them. When logging into client tools the LDAP requests are sent to the LDAP server directly from the client. An issue like this would suggest there is a problem reaching the LDAP server from the client.
    Is LDAP SSL being used? If yes try disabling it, if no then you can packet scan the logon attempt on the client and filter the LDAP traffic to see how long it's taking for that communication.

  • How to copy a page( webpart page) with its content using client side.

    How to copy a page(in my case  webpart page) with its content(it may contain webparts) using client code (i mean using SPservices or ECMA script).
    What i am planning is ,to give end user a page where it will contain text box to specify  name of page and a button with the help of  content editor webpart.
    where on click of button we need to write client side code such that it should create a new page from a existing page in a library with given name by user.
    Any suggestion would be helpful. For your information we can do it through UI with the help Site Actions / Manage Content and Structure.But i want to automate it using client side code.Server side code is restricted.
    or can we create a template of an existing page with content without the help of sharepoint designer.

  • In IMovie11, is it possible to add a menu page with options such as PLAY, SCENES, TRAILER, etc

    In IMovie11, is it possible to add/create a menu at the beginning of the movie with options like PLAY MOVIE, SCENES, TRAILER, etc..

    *I found a solution. HP owes me $20,000 in consulting fees.*
    To print to a LaserJet 3600 or 2600 from a newer Mac using 10.6, you must do the following:
    Step 1: Install Foomatic HPIJS drivers
    Step 2: Get an AirPort Express or equivalent print server
    Step 3: Connect the printer via USB to the print server, and connect
    Step 4: Go to Print & Fax, then click the + button to add a printer
    Step 5: Select HP Jetdirect - Socket for the protocol
    Step 6: Enter the IP address of the printer server, followed by a colon and the port number (9100 or 9101)*, i.e. 1.2.3.4:9100
    Step 7: Name the printer, then click on the Print using: drop down menu
    Step 8: Select the Select Other Printer..., and choose the appropriate HPIJS driver.
    * To determine the correct port, open Network Utility in the Utilities folder. Click on Port Scan. Type the IP address of your print server, then check the Only test ports between... and enter 9100 and 9101. It will report back the open TCP port.

  • About creating an AJAX page with DML procedures  using dynamic actions

    About creating an AJAX page with DML procedures in APEX using dynamic actions. Help with limitations.
    I want to share my experience, creating AJAX procedures in APEX 4.0.
    LIMITATIONS
    •     How Can I Hide UPDATE button while I press NEW button. ??
    •     How Can I Hide CREATE button while I’m UPDATING A RECORD. ??
    •     How can I avoid multiple Inserts or Updates. ??
    Here are the steps to create an AJAX Updatable Form using the sample table DEPTS. You can see the demo here: [http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=15488:1]
    1)     Create a blank page
    2)     Add a Report Region for departments (It shows the columns deptno, dname and loc).
    3)     Add an HTML Region and create the elements to edit a Department.
    a.     P1_DEPTNO (Hidden to store PK)
    b.     P1_DNAME (Text Field)
    c.     P1_LOC (Text Field)
    4)     You also have to create a hidden element called P1_ACTION. This will help to trigger dynamic actions to perform DMLs.
    5)     Open Page Attributes and in the HTML Header Section include the following code.
    <script>
         function doSelect(pId){
              $x_Value(‘P1_DEPTNO’,pId);
              $x_Value(‘P1_ACTION’,’SELECT’);
    </script>
    6)     Modify the column DEPTNO in the report, to add column link. In the link text you can use #DEPTNO# , in target you must select ‘URL ‘ and in the URL field write javascript:doSelect(#DEPTNO#);
    7)     Create the following Buttons in the Form Region.
    CANCEL     Redirects to URL: javascript:$x_Value(‘P150_ACTION’,’CANCEL’);
    NEW          Redirects to URL: javascript:$x_Value(‘P150_ACTION’,’NEW’);
    SAVE          Redirects to URL: javascript:$x_Value(‘P150_ACTION’,’UPDATE’);
    CREATE          Redirects to URL: javascript:$x_Value(‘P150_ACTION’,’CREATE’);
    8)     Create the following Dynamic Action to Select a Department
    Name:     Select Dept
    Event:     Change
    Selection Type:     Item(s)
    Item(s):     P1_ACTION
    Condition:     equal to
    Value:     SELECT
    Action:     Execute PL/SQL Code
    PL/SQL Code:
    SELECT dname, loc
    INTO :P1_DNAME, :P1_LOC
    FROM dept
    WHERE deptno = :P1_DEPTNO;
    Page Items to Submit:     P1_DEPTNO, P1_DNAME, P1_LOC
    Don’t include any false action and create the Dynamic Action.
    The first limitation, the value of page elements don’t do refresh so I added the following true actions to the dynamic action AFTER Execute PL/SQL Code.
    Action:     Set Value
    Unmark *‘Fire on page load’* and *‘Stop execution on error’*
    Set Type:     PL/SQL Expression
    PL/SQL Expression:     :P1_DNAME
    Page Items to submit:     (none) (leave it blank)
    Affected Elements: Item P1_DNAME
    Action:     Set Value
    Unmark *‘Fire on page load’* and *‘Stop execution on error’*
    Set Type:     PL/SQL Expression
    PL/SQL Expression:     :P1_LOC
    Page Items to submit:     (none) (leave it blank)
    Affected Elements: Item P1_LOC
    These actions allow refresh the items display value.
    9)     Create the following Dynamic Action to Update a Department
    Name:     Update Dept
    Event:     Change
    Selection Type:     Item(s)
    Item(s):     P1_ACTION
    Condition:     equal to
    Value:     CREATE
    Action:     Execute PL/SQL Code
    PL/SQL Code:
    UPDATE dept SET
    dname = :P1_DNAME,
    loc = :P1_LOC
    WHERE deptno = :P1_DEPTNO;
    Page Items to Submit:     P1_DEPTNO, P1_DNAME, P1_LOC
    Don’t include any false action and create the Dynamic Action.
    Include the following True Actions BEFORE the Execute PL/SQL Code true Action.
    Action:     Set Value
    Unmark ‘Fire on page load’ and ‘Stop execution on error’
    Set Type:     PL/SQL Expression

    Page Items to submit:     P1_DNAME
    Affected Elements: Item P1_DNAME
    Action:     Set Value
    Unmark *‘Fire on page load’* and *‘Stop execution on error’*
    Set Type:     PL/SQL Expression
    PL/SQL Expression:     :P1_LOC
    Page Items to submit:     P1_LOC
    Affected Elements: Item P1_LOC
    These actions allow refresh the items display value.
    Finally to refresh the Departments report, add the following true action at the end
    Action:     Refresh
    Affected Elements: Region Departments
    10)     Create the following Dynamic Action to Create a Department
    Name:     Create Dept
    Event:     Change
    Selection Type:     Item(s)
    Item(s):     P1_ACTION
    Condition:     equal to
    Value:     CREATE
    Action:     Execute PL/SQL Code
    PL/SQL Code:
    INSERT INTO dept(deptno,dname,loc)
    VALUES (:P1_DEPTNO,:P1_DNAME,:P1_LOC);
    Page Items to Submit:     P1_DEPTNO, P1_DNAME, P1_LOC
    Don’t include any false action and create the Dynamic Action.
    Include the following True Actions BEFORE the Execute PL/SQL Code true Action.
    Action:     Set Value
    Unmark *‘Fire on page load’* and *‘Stop execution on error’*
    Set Type:     PL/SQL Function Body
    PL/SQL Function Body:
    DECLARE
    v_pk NUMBER;
    BEGIN
    SELECT DEPT_SEQ.nextval INTO v_pk FROM DUAL;; -- or any other existing sequence
    RETURN v_pk;
    END;
    Page Items to submit:     P1_DEPTNO
    Affected Elements: Item P1_DEPTNO
    Action:     Set Value
    Unmark *‘Fire on page load’* and *‘Stop execution on error’*
    Set Type:     PL/SQL Expression
    PL/SQL Expression:     :P1_DNAME
    Page Items to submit:     P1_DNAME
    Affected Elements: Item P1_DNAME
    Action:     Set Value
    Unmark ‘Fire on page load’ and ‘Stop execution on error’
    Set Type:     PL/SQL Expression
    PL/SQL Expression:     :P1_LOC
    Page Items to submit:     P1_LOC
    Affected Elements: Item P1_LOC
    These actions allow refresh the items display value.
    Finally to refresh the Departments report, add the following true action at the end
    Action:     Refresh
    Affected Elements: Region Departments
    11)     Create the following Dynamic Action to delete a department
    Name:     Delete Dept
    Event:     Change
    Selection Type:     Item(s)
    Item(s):     P1_ACTION
    Condition:     equal to
    Value:     DELETE
    Action:     Execute PL/SQL Code
    PL/SQL Code:
    DELETE dept
    WHERE deptno = :P1_DEPTNO;
    Page Items to Submit:     P1_DEPTNO
    Don’t include any false action and create the Dynamic Action.
    Include the following True Actions AFTER the Execute PL/SQL Code true Action.
    Action:     Refresh
    Affected Elements: Region Departments
    Action:     Clear
    Unmark ‘Fire on page load’
    Affected Elements: Items P1_DEPTNO, P1_DNAME, P1_LOC
    12)     Finally Create the following Dynamic Action for the NEW event
    Name:     New Dept
    Event:     Change
    Selection Type:     Item(s)
    Item(s):     P1_ACTION

  • Keep published pages with old theme, use new theme on new entries?

    I've been using iWeb for about 18 months to publish (privately to my MobileMe account) a daily "diary" entry in blog style and would now like to change them default theme but WITHOUT changing it for the past 18 months published since the formatting of the content of the old theme doesn't FIT into the format of the new theme.
    Is this possible?

    No.  just tried adding a new entry page with a different theme and it changed the theme for all pages.
    You could create a new blog with the new theme and link to it from your old blog. Not sure that would be as smooth a transition as you'd like however.

  • Not able to pass portal login page with valid credentials using WebDispatch

    Hi,
    We are implementing SAP BillerDirect Portal. To make BillerDirect Portal available over the internet, we Configured SAP WebDispatcher with SSL termination.  We followed the steps mentioned in SAP Help Documentaion for SAP WebDispatcher with SSL termination.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/76/6d4fa247d0d647b5bd40745400d873/frameset.htm
    We created certificate  and send it to CA (TrustCenter CA). We received the CA response and we imported the certificate.
    AS mentioned in the help document, we configured the SAP Web Dispatcher profile to support SSL termination
    We tried to access our BillerDirect Portal over the internet using below link
    https://company.com/bd
    We are getting login page, once we enter correct user ID and Password, portal is not loading (not going to next page) portal remains on same login page.
    If we enter invalid credentials portal login page is giving u201CUser Authentication Failedu201D error.
    If we try to access any portal login pages which brings a pop-up for login, login gets succeeded and we are able to see next pages

    2)     https://company.com/monitoring/SystemInfo

  • Is it possible to have a public page with optional authentication?

    I want to have an application that will give users view access to all pages, without the user having to log in. On its own i know how to achieve this. However, i also want to give the user the ability to perform specific actions, only if they authenticate themselves. The functionality i am after is much like this forum, the public can read all threads, but to post you have to log in.
    is this kind of thing possible in APEX, if so how can this be done?
    Craig
    [http://www.oracleapplicationexpress.com]

    Craig,
    It's very possible, and quite easy to do.
    One of the conditions that APEX supplies is "User is Authenticated (not public)". You can use this condition on buttons, items, regions and processes that will require a user be authenticated to your application. There is also the opposite condition, should you want to display items or regions that will be displayed to non-authenticated users.
    Thanks,

    When using a web service proxy, you need to pass the data as an object, which' structure is defined in the web service proxy wrapper classes.
    When you've defined a data control for your bpel process, you can just drag and drop the 'initiate'/'execute', your operation and bind this to the update-button.
    When working with the proxy client, you need to populate your java class objects with the employee-object, this can be done in a backing bean or managed bean in your adf faces application.
    For more information you can always have a look at my blog where I've provided an explanation about the different possibilities of interfacing adf with SOA.

  • Problem with Restrict Access to Page with access level using ASP

    I'm using Dreamweaver CS3 with ASP-VBScript and an Access
    database. The pages were created from scratch for this project,
    using those tools all the way through.
    I've created a login page, an admin homepage, and add, edit,
    and list records pages for three tables. The login page uses the
    Server Behavior "Log in User", all other pages use the Server
    Behavior "Restrict Access to Page". All of these are based on an
    Access Level.
    Login seems to work correctly, and redirects to the admin
    homepage. From the admin homepage, I can open any other page as
    expected, and they initially display correctly. On the add and edit
    pages, however,
    submitting the form often results in getting logged out, but
    not always.
    Once this happens, I can log back in, but other problems will
    sometimes occur during that second login session. Sometimes,
    logouts will occur on pages that worked fine during the first login
    session. Sometimes, another session variable that I've setup
    manually will change when it shouldn't...as if there were two
    values stored for my session variable, and reloading the page
    changes to the other value.
    This
    post seems closest to my experience, but it doesn't look like
    there was really an answer beyond "I had to fight with it for a bit
    to get it to work":
    I suspected that there is some problem with session settings
    on the server. We have an almost identical tool on the same server
    that was developed with an older version of DW that works more
    reliably; it sometimes has problems with the initial login, but
    never has a problem after that.
    Has anyone experienced problems like this? Any suggestions
    for what to check? I'm really pulling my hair out since it's so
    unreliable...the kind of problem that goes away when you try to
    show someone and comes back when they leave.

    Hello,
    I was thinking that all I would need would be the username, although username and paswsword would be more secure.  There are about 50 users and no groups or levels.  They are all equal ... same level.
    The website is private and there is a general content area for all users and then there will be private areas for each user where proprietary documents will be held.  I need to be able to ensure that user 'A' can only see the user 'A' pages, user 'B' can only see user 'B', etc.
    I don't really understand what the Dreamweaver script is doing, but the overview sounded like it was the right tool to accomplish what I'm trying to do.
    Any assistance greatly appreciated.
    thanks.

    btam, Welcome to the discussion area!
    The first thing to do is DISABLE PPPoE on your Mac. Since your AirPort Extreme base station (AEBS) will be handling PPPoE, your Mac doesn't need to do it.
    Next configure the AEBS to connect to your ISP using PPPoE. You can see where to enter the PPPoE information by looking at Page 33 in the "Designing AirPort Networks" (http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/DesigningAirPortNetworks.pdf).

    Will you be working on the site with both computers over time? If so Old Toad's Tutorial #21 - Managing an iWeb site from multiple Macs with Dropbox. can show you a way to make it easy to keep the domain file current on both Macs.

  • Web page with javascript login shows the login in IE8 but not Firefox 9

    The web page http://epgservices.sky.com/nevermiss/ loads properly in Internet Explorer 8 and shows login details but these don't show when loaded in Firefox 9.0.1
    The login is generated by Javascript as far as I can see. Java is enabled and is not being blocked by AdBlock Plus because I've turned it off to see if it made any difference but the login for this website does not show

    Hi cor-el,
    Thank you for your reply. Earlier in my attempts to solve this problem and before contacting Firefox Help, I did start Firefox in Safe Mode after clearing the cache and the cookies from sky.com but this made no difference. The login was still not showing.
    Today after trying the website on my laptop running Firefox 9.0.1 and finding the login was loading correctly I decided to uninstall Firefox but keeping my original extensions etc., and re-install Firefox from a freshly downloaded install file. It is now displaying the login correctly on that web page. I think it may have been caused by lefy-overs from previous upgrades of Firefox and the re-install cured the problem. It's amazing what problems a fresh install will solve!
    Thank you for your help
