ADF Rich Faces with Spring WebFlow in other application servers

I am evaluating various JSF based UI technologies (Tomahawk, Tobago, Trinidad, RichFaces, IceFaces, ADF Faces) and after having a look at demos came to conclusion that ADF Faces is quite better than rest. But i have a few concerns for ADF Faces:
1. How well it integrates with Spring WebFlow? Does it provide any AJAX handlers for spring (spring provides AJAX handlers for RichFaces out of the box)? If Yes then is there any documentation for that?
2. Can it integrate with other frameworks like RichFaces? If Yes then is there any documentation for that?
3. Can it work with other application servers like JBoss, Websphere, etc? If Yes then is there any documentation for that?

1. How well it integrates with Spring WebFlow? Does it provide any AJAX handlers for spring (spring provides AJAX handlers for RichFaces out of the box? If Yes then is there any documentation for that?
--> Spring Web flow is not supported. No ajax handlers for spring. But you do have built in ajax functionality.
2. Can it integrate with other frameworks like RichFaces? If Yes then is there any documentation for that?
--> Yes can be integrated but not supported hence no documentation.
3. Can it work with other application servers like JBoss, Websphere, etc? If Yes then is there any documentation for that?
--> Technically it can. WebSphere was supported as of ADF 10g. When 11g was released it was supported but now it might be. There are various posts in the forum on tomcat & jboss integration. Though not easy can be achieved.
Another thing to note is ADF Faces is not open source. You get it bundled with Weblogic App server. Where as all other component libraries you mentioned are open source.

  • ADF Rich Faces Templates

    Using oepe 12.1.2.3 kepler 4.3.
Tied to create a jsp page as in the tutorial
Problem is cannot find ADF Rich Faces Page in JSP Templates Page of Preferences Dialog.
When I click on the templates link, all the ADF rich faces are missing.
How can i import these templates and why are they missing in the first place.
    Thank you

Thanks for the update. I am using 12.1.2.3
It seems that the tutorial manual needs to be updated since it says: "Right-click the WebContent node in the Project Explorer and select New > JSP file"
and not ADF Page as you suggested.
when I followed your suggestion, I did get the right templates but now I have run into another problem when trying to add the ADF faces form to the page.
After selecting the login bean created earlier, pressing The form action button does not allow the creation of a navigation case as suggested in the  tutorial but gives
a blank popup with the title "select an action outcome". There are no fields to fill the navigation case.
    thanks

  • IPad 2 and application based on adf rich faces components

    Hi,
Seems that the web application based on ADF Rich Faces components (jDeveloper 11.1.1.5.0) don’t operate properly under the latest iPad 2( iOs 4.3.2, wb Safari).
To reproduce, we can try to open oracle demo site - http://jdevadf.oracle.com/adf-richclient-demo/faces/index.jspx. A lot of javaScript errors will appear and the page not open.
The first script error is "Result of expression [[objectDOMWindowConstructor]] is not a constructor", we faced with it in relation to mac os..No matter which web browser and iDeveloper version is used. On the previous iPad (iOs 4.2) there was not this problem.
what does it mean? and how can it be fixed?

See Framework Javascript failing on Safari in iOS 4.3.3
There is no 'official' fix for this since this is a webkit bug on the safari included in iOS 4.3. There is a workaround but it requires a backport patch. You can do it yourself though as I detailed in the link I gave you above.

  • Trinidad and ADF Rich Faces components::

    Hi!
Does someone know about any problem while using Trinidad and ADF Rich Faces, or just the Trinidad components in JDev11g ?
    Thanx.
    Endy

    Endy,
ADF Faces RC isn't supported in IE6, so that certainly wasn't the issue. I have inadvertently mixed Trinidad and ADF Faces RC components on a page and didn't run into issues, but I did correct that issue based upon comments from Frank/Shay on the forum. Bottom line is that while they may work (or appear to work) together, it's not a supported combination.

  • Managed bean/Data exchange between two ADF Rich Faces based applications

    Hi,
I have been trying to research what seems to be a small issue. My requirements are as follows.
    1. I need to be able to pass managed bean information from one ADF Rich Faces based application to another (in two separate ears) at runtime (e.g. from Ear1: SenderApp/Sender.jspx -> Ear2: ReceiverApp/Receiver.jspx).
    2. I do not want to use the database as my applications need to be performant.
    3. Serialization/de-serialization would fall pretty much under the database category. In other words, I like to avoid Serialization/de-serialization of the managed bean.
    4. I cannot use query string due to security issues.
    My question is as follows:
    1. Is there any standard/architecture/best practices for data exchange of backing beans or other forms between two ADF Rich Faces based apps (in two separate ears)?
    2. Has someone found anything similar to an applicationScope that works across applications?
    I would appreciate any ideas.
    Thanks very much,

    Hi,
its not an ADF Faces problem, but not possible in Java EE. You can however fallback to vendor specific implementations like in WLS. From the WebLogic documentation : http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs103/webapp/sessions.html
Enabling Web applications to share the same session*
By default, Web applications do not share the same session. If you would like Web applications to share the same session, you can configure the session descriptor at the application level in the weblogic-application.xml deployment descriptor. To enable Web applications to share the same session, set the sharing-enabled attribute in the session descriptor to true in the weblogic-application.xml deployment descriptor. See “sharing-enabled” in session-descriptor.
The session descriptor configuration that you specify at the application level overrides any session descriptor configuration that you specify at the Web application level for all of the Web applications in the application. If you set the sharing-enabled attribute to true at the Web application level, it will be ignored.
All Web applications in an application are automatically started using the same session instance if you specify the session descriptor in the weblogic-application.xml deployment descriptor and set the sharing-enabled attribute to true as in the following example:
    +<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>+
    +<weblogic-application xmlns="http://www.bea.com/ns/weblogic/90";;>+
    +...+
    <session-descriptor>
    +<persistent-store-type>memory</persistent-store-type>+
    +<sharing-enabled>true</sharing-enabled>+
    +...+
    +</session-descriptor>+
    +...+
    +</weblogic-application>+

  • ADF Rich Faces 11g vs Adobe Flex

    Hi,
Can anyone list out the ADF Rich Faces components available and compare ADF Rich Faces 11g and Adobe Flex?

I can't comment on Adobe Flex, but to answer the first part of your question:
    a) Complete list of ADF Faces RC components: http://jdevadf.oracle.com/adf-richclient-demo/docs/enhanced-tagdoc.html
    b) A demo of ADF Faces RC components: http://jdevadf.oracle.com/adf-richclient-demo/faces/components/index.jspx
One thing to remember about "ADF" (as separate to just ADF Faces RC) and it's support through the JDeveloper IDE is it is completely end-to-end, meaning you can develop right from the database, to the mid tier business code through to the JSF front end.

    Sagar,
As you may know, ADF 11g apps are currently only certified/supported against Oracle WebLogic Server, so when you say "does it work in WAS 6.1," the answer is "maybe it might, but it's not documented nor supported."
Have you looked at Re: How to run ADF application on Websphere 7.0

  • Precisely why can't ADF Rich Faces be used on OAS 10.1.2.0.2?

So I can make a really good argument for not trying to somehow deploy ADF RC to my end-users existing 10.1.2.0.2 OAS app server, is somebody out there knowledgeable enough to precisely tell me what incompatabilities there are standing in the way of such a deployment.
I know Oracle does not certify such an action, but I need some concrete arguments, please?
I think they will install Web Logic server if I can do a good enough job of sounding intelligent. I am still learning when it comes to differences between J2EE version.
I know Rich Faces uses JSF 1.2, which uses JavaEE document type standards, and changes the component code. I also know that these components use code which requires the 1.6 JVM, right? So we would need a container that could run such a JVM. I do not know what it takes to create an app server or to run a JVM within it, so I do not know if there are app servers that can run different JVM versions...or just certain JVM version.
I think I need to get some certifications, or continue studying what is availble on-line.
    Help?

    Michael,
    regarding installing OC4J 10.1.3:
    1. You can run ADF 10.1.3 on Oracle AS 10.1.2.x without problems. You just need to make sure that your project uses JDK 1.4.2_x!
    2. Oracle AS/OC4J 10.1.3 must be installed in a directory separate from Oracle AS 10.1.2. NOT in the same sub tree.
    3. The complete Oracle documentation is available on OTN (http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/index.html)
    4. Reading the manuals is always helpful. I admit that this is not always an easy read but you get used to it.

  • Problem in connecting to other application servers

    Hi Forum,
I am working on a 3-tier arechitecture involving:
    1) An oracle database server
    2) A middle layer using BC4J(which has to support the major application servers)
    3) A front-end Swing client accessing the business layer.
The problem i am facing is in deploying the application on any application server other than OC4J.
In the Jdeveloper project i have selected application server connections to OC4J (Jdev only allows app server connections to standalone OC4J or Weblogic). Since i have to deploy the same project on JBoss 3.2.2-Tomcat 4.1, i have made a copy of the application module configuration for oc4j and named it Jboss configuration but i cannot find the part which would allow my client application to to connect with Jboss-tomcat server. In the bc4j.xcfg file which stores the configuration, this is the configuration for OC4J:
    <AppModuleConfig name="WorkingDemoPkgModule9iAS1">
    <JDBCDataSource>jdbc/Demonstration_connDS</JDBCDataSource>
    <ApplicationPath>WorkingDemoBCJ4EJB1</ApplicationPath>

  • ADF Tutorial: problem with chapter 10 (Deploying the Application)

    Hi!
I'm learning from ADF Tutorial (http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/ADFBC_tutorial_1013/index.htm) and I have problem with chapter 10. After deploying finished application on the server (OracleAS10g) I try to test it but I get this error everytime:
    500 Internal Server Error
Servlet error: An exception occured. The current application deployment descriptors do not allow for including it in this response. Please consult the application log for details.
I get this error after typing login credentials. I didn't consult the log, because I don't know where to look for it (could you tell me please?). I did everything as described in the Tutorial, but I know there are mistakes (in Tutorial), so I don't know what to do.
    Thanks for any advices.

  • I have a mac osX, HP 550 printer and Firefox 3.6.18 Pages are printing blank from firefox internet, I don't have this problem with Safari or my other applications. It has been working fine for years.

When I press print I get a blank page, only from web pages using Firefox. I checked print-preview and the page is blank. So I know something is not being recognized. Thank you.

    Try This!
    1) Go to Print Preview
    2) Print
    3) Name: HP PSC 2100 series (depend on your printer)
    4) Properties...
    5) Paper size: letter
    6) Change to Paper size: A6
    7) OK
    8) Repeat step 4 again
    9) Change back again Paper size: letter
    10) OK
    11) Don't print, but go back to Print Preview again and see if it works
This is the one that have work for me after trying several times modifying about:config with no success. Good luck and hope that will help.

  • Bluetooth issue when working with Safari but not other applications

I have tried two new bluetooth headsets (Motorola 9HD and Sony DR-BT100cx) that both can Pair with and work just fine with the local itunes application and any DVD I use. But these devices do not work with Safari. I tried going to Hulu, YouTube, etc and i can tell the bluetooth device is 'listening' because I can hear it click or wait for a signal. But I never hear anything. If i switch over to DVD or my Podcasts that are local, it works fine. If I go to bluetooth settings and select 'stop using headset' the MacBook speakers pick up right away.
Note: I am a brand new Mac user, so please disregard my OS version I have selected. I have no idea how to find my OS version, nor do I know how to install Firefox to see if it is simply a browser issue.
    Thanks,
    Jay

I have the same issue. I've tried 3 different btooth headsets, and they all react the same:
    - music: ok
    - skype: ok
    - webcasts / video (safari or firefox): no sound, and video stops
HOWEVER: same system, same headset, using Internet Explorer in my windows xp VM: everything works.
Anyone know how to contact Apple and log this issue?

How can i setup the user (Windows 8.1Pro)  which is part of the domain to make them access to the files and folders on the server and sync back remotely on a Windows 2008R2 Server.
These files & folders should be shared between 3 users.

    Hi,
Do you want to configure offline files on the Windows 8.1Pro or on the Windows 2008R2 Server? The Offline Files feature must be enabled on the client computer for files and programs to be automatically cached.
