ADF selectOneChoice and af:forEach

Hi,
I'm atempting to create a data-bound selectOneChoice that displays DepartmentName and selects the corresponding DepartmentId as its value. I've tried using an af:forEach on an f:selectItem with the selectOneChoice, but I'm getting an error with the EL refernces that the the row refernces aren't valid.
Could anyone provide some insight?
Thanks,
Debojit

Thanks for the prompt reponses.
Hi Suresh, Rodrigues and Vinod,
I'm attempting to build my selectOneChoice from the Department table table directly, without code in between AND get back real values for the selections I make, so I'm afraid I can't use any beans, at least not for pouplating the drop-down list.
Hi Navaneetha,
I tried your approach, but I'm still getting a "Refrence not Found" error for the EL refernce "#{row.DepartmentName}" , and the drop down is coming up as empty when i run the page.
Here's the code for the page and the corresponding page def.

  • SelectOneChoice and selectItem foreach row  - Not selecting current value

    Hi -
    I am having a problem whereby the list that is rendered in the UI is not selecting my current ID...It is just showing the "blank" selection, which is another problem - it must be mandatory.
    The UI shows the list (from my iterator) but nothing is selected on the list, even thow the ROWs do have a ClasscategorytypeId assigned to them.
    My Iterator that feeds the list is defined in the PageDef as follows:
    <iterator id="ClasscategorytypeView1Iterator" Binds="ClasscategorytypeView1"
    RangeSize="-1" DataControl="AppModuleDataControl"/>
    </executables>
    Here is the column definition.
    <af:column sortable="false" headerText="ClassCategory"
    binding="#{backing_svrclass_edit_list.column3}"
    id="column3">
    <af:selectOneChoice value="#{row.ClasscategorytypeId}"
    required="true">
    <af:forEach var="item" items="#{bindings.ClasscategorytypeView1.rangeSet}">
    <af:selectItem
    value="#{item.ClasscategorytypeId}"
    label="#{item.Name}"/>
    </af:forEach>
    </af:selectOneChoice>
    </af:column>

    Hi Frank - thanks for the feedback.
    for #1 - setting the defaults on the entity and view object didn't help. It still shows up with a "BLANK" field (don't want the blank field, since "required"), and it is not selecting the correct option that cooresponds to the ID from the ROW.
    re #2 - I don't understand solution #1 that he mentions? Here is the quote:
    "Create a second binding to the same attribute that the list binding is for. But make this a plain attribute binding. This binding will map direct to the real value of the column so you can use this second binding as a proxy to the list in your expressions. Note the binding just has to be created in the PageDef file, it does not need to be displayed on the page itself." These parts are confusing to me:
    "Create a second binding...", "use this second binding as a proxy"...I thought that you can have only one binding per control, and second, re: the proxy item - is this implying that I have to setup an onload and onclick event, and somehow map the option items (zero based index) to the real value both when showing the list (and selecting the right one) and processing the currently "selected" item? This sounds like a very combursome thing to do...? Can you clarify that for me?
    (if you had a simple example that would be great!)
    Thanks again!
    I really appreciate it.
    ps. I found the #1 scenario (foreach solution) from the Steve Muench blog here, and if I am to understand this correctly - even his sample is misleading, since the list values returned from the query are zero based, and NOT value based.. so he must have aligned these values in the database to be ZERO based and coorespond to the behaviour of rendering the list... This is very misleading.

    The SRDemo has an example of a selectOneRadio bound to a parameter being used to pass to an ExecuteWithParams action (to automatically feed a view object's named bind variable. This is in the SRStaffSearch.jspx page.
    Also, if you check out example # 72 from my blog:
    http://radio.weblogs.com/0118231/stories/2004/09/23/notYetDocumentedAdfSampleApplications.html#72
    There is another example of using a selectOneListbox to do the same type of thing.
    The steps involved in creating something like this are to:
    (1) Define your named bind variables on your view object
    (2) Drop the "ExecuteWithParams" action in the operations folder of that view object from the Data Control Palette to your page as a "Parameter Form"
    (3) Drop the specific attribute (nested child of the "ExecuteWithParams" action from step (2) as whatever kind of selectOneXXXX control you want
    (4) Delete the extra field on the form you don't want.

  • Bind the output data (Xml) from BPEL process to ADF SelectOneChoice Control

    Hello,
    My requirement is to invoke a BPEL process from ADF page and display returned results in a select one choice (drop down box).
    I have created a Data Control for the BPEL process through Web service data control and tried to invoke the BPEL process. I could see from the BPEL console that BPEL process is getting invoked. But the ADF doesn't bind any of the output to Select one choice.
    It doesn't even show any error.
    Can you plz help me how to bind the output of the BPEL process to ADF SelectOneChoice control.
    The Xml Which I recieve from BPEL process is
    <outputVariable><part xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" name="payload"><DBConnectDemoProcessResponse xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns="http://xmlns.oracle.com/DBConnectDemo">

    </part></outputVariable>
    And the toStatus node values viz, Assigned, Pending, Closed, Cancelled should get binded to the SelectOneChoice control
    Waiting for your valuable inputs,
    Regards,
    babloo.

    I have been still trying for the solution. I have modified the XSD created by the jdeveloper to,
    <schema attributeFormDefault="unqualified"
         elementFormDefault="qualified"
         targetNamespace="http://xmlns.oracle.com/StateTransitions"
         xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
         <element name="StateTransitionsProcessRequest">
              <complexType>
                   <sequence>
                   <element name="input" type="string"/>
                   </sequence>
              </complexType>
         </element>
         <element name="StateTransitionsProcessResponse">
              <complexType>
                   <sequence maxOccurs="unbounded">
    <element name="stateChanges">
    <complexType>
    <sequence>
    <element name="fromState" type="string" />
    <element name="toState" type = "string" />
    </sequence>
    </complexType>
    </element>
    </sequence>
              </complexType>
         </element>
    </schema>
    And I have given this XSD url while creating the Web Service Data Control by deploying it into the Oracle App server.
    So, I can see the tree structure of "Return" as "StateTransitionsProcessResponse->StateChanges->toState,fromState"
    I have binded the toState field of the Data Control to the SelectOneChoice ADF control in a jspx page by using List binding editor.
    I have selected,
    Base data source as "Variables" (Currently I don't need to update any table),
    List Data source as "process: getStateTransitions.process.StateTransitionsProcessResponse.stateChanges" (Web Service Data Control)
    Base Data source attribute as "process_input"
    List Data Source Attribute as "toState"
    I can initiate the web service (BPEL process) by providing the necessary input value like 'Open' or 'Pending' or 'Assigned' but the SelectOneChoice control doesn't populate with any values.
    Waiting for valuable inputs!
    Thanks and Regards,
    babloo.

  • ADF SelectOneChoice List Question

    I posted the following message in the Toplink forum and they have suggested I try over here:
    Toplink Essentials List Question
    ==================
    I am new to Toplink Essentials. I am using Toplink Essentials inside of JDeveloper 11g, against Oracle Express and ADF/Trinidad and have used JDeveloper's "Entities from Tables" wizard to reverse engineer my database into Toplink pojo objects. After this I used JDeveloper's wizard to create a JavaServiceFacade and then generate a Data Control.
    After expanding the DataControl (which is mapped to the JavaServiceFacade) I have a method queryEntityFindAll(). Under this method I have serval attributes and then a list which represents a "many-side" of this entitie's relationship with another entity. How do I create a selectOneChoice using this list?
    I've tried expanding queryEntityFindAll() and then dragging the list to a jspx page, setting the Base Data Source to "JavaServiceFacade.queryEntityFindAll.listName and then setting the List Data Source to "ListName : JavaServiceFacade.queryRelatedEntityFindAll". However, when I run the page the only thing that appears on the page is the selectOneChoice label... no drop down component appears on the page... no errors are generated to give any clue as to what my problem may be...
    Although I'm working in JDeveloper, I really believe this is a Toplink Essentials question...
    Please help!

    Thanks for the quick response!
    Using the department / employee example... I'm trying to create a form that allows a user to create a new department. I have dragged the "Department" object (located under queryDepartmentFindAll()) over to my jspx form. A form with corresponding fields is created.
    I notice that no field was created for employeeId. I expand the "Department" object (again, under queryDepartmentFindAll()) and observe that "Employee" is present, as a list (expanding Employee provides access to employee object attributes along with another list entitled departmentList).
    I know that it's unlikely that only one employee would be selected in the creation of a department... but I'm sticking to the example...
    So, I drag the "Employee" (again, under queryDepartmentFindAll()) object over to the newly created form and from the pop-up menu I choose selectOneChoice as the desired component. I run the jspx page, Internet Explorer 7 browser pops up and all labels display on the page, all fields but no selectOneChoice component appears on the screen... the space is there for it but it appears to be invisible. I have checked the Employee table and there is data to be displayed... it's just that I must be missing something...

  • Difference between af:iterator and af:foreach

    guys,
    whats the difference between af:iterator and af:foreach ?

    The documentation for af:iterator describes the differences:
    http://jdevadf.oracle.com/adf-richclient-demo/docs/tagdoc/af_iterator.html
    While the <af:forEach> will be sufficient for most user's needs, it does not work with a JSF DataModel, or CollectionModel. It also cannot be bound to EL expressions that use component-managed EL variables (such as the >"var" variable on an <af:table>). The <af:iterator> tag was created to address these issues. Thanks,
    Navaneeth

  • ADF selectonechoice valuebinding called twice

    Does anyone have any idea why the valuebinding method of an ADF SelectOneChoice component would be called twice? I have one drop down with values and when I select something in that drop down the valuebinding for the second drop down is called twice, when it should only be called once. Any help would be appreciated.

    what is the refresh setting of the region binding in the page's PageDef file? Put a print statement to the task flow initializer to verify the region is executed twice

  • ADF Application and Oracle Portal Login Page

    We have developed ADF application and deployed it in Oracle AS 10.1.2 along with the custom JAAS module, which is working fine with the application custom login page. As a next page, I want to use Oracle Portal login page for the authentication and authorization.
    How can I accomplished it? Any idea?
    Thanks,
    AP

    Shay,
    1. I created blank ADF project
    2. I copied myreport.jsp file (this one was generated by Oracle Report Builder) under ..ViewController/public_html directory
    3. Created directory 'lib' under ViewController/public_html/WEB-INF/lib
    4. Copied reports_tld.jar file under the directory created in 3.
    5. Created simple jspx page with the af:link (btw af:goLink does not exists in JDev 12c), set 'destination' to myreport.jsp
    After the steps above I could not even compile the application, many problems too many to list here, Basically JDev is trying to build the project with .jsp file generated in Report Builder and is unable to.
    So to be sure we are on the same page: I am trying to embed JSP report files generated by Report Builder into ADF project, then create EAR file and deploy on standalone WLS. Finally execute JSP web only report.

  • Problem with ADF security and task flow calls

    Hi.
    I am using JDeveloper 11.1.2.0.0.
    I encountered a problem when tried to apply ADF security to my application.
    The way to reproduce the problem:
    1. Create new Fusion Web Application;
    2. Import Business Components from Tables from any existing schema and add at least one table to the ApplicationModule.
    3. Create "welcome page" (for instance, welcome.jsf). Add a button with fixed action outcome "test".
    4. Create test page, for instance, test.jsf. Drag and drop any view object from Data Controls onto the page and create a form with navigation controls. Add a button with fixed action outcome "return".
    5. Create bounded task flow, name it "test", drag and drop our test page on it - the page will be the default activity. Add a task flow return activity. Add a control flow case from the default view activity to the return activity, set From Outcome property to "return". So our return button should cause the task flow to exit.
    6. Open adfc-config.xml in diagram mode and place our welcome page on it. Then drag and drop the test task flow to create a task flow call activity. Add a control flow case from welcome page to task flow call activity, set the From Outcome property to "test". So our test button should call the test task flow.
    7. Configure application to run the unbounded task flow starting with Welcome view activity.
    At this point all works as expected: when application runs, the welcome page is displayed with test button. Pressing the test button results in displaying the test page, return button leads back to the welcome page.
    Now let's configure ADF Security.
    Run the ADF Security configuration wizard, choose ADF Authentication and Authorization.
    On the second page select Form-Based Authentication, check the Generate Default Pages flag.
    On the third page choose No Automatic Grants.
    On the next page keep the Redirect Upon Successful Authentication unchecked. Press Finish.
    Open jazn-data.xml to configure roles, users and resource grants:
    1. Create application role test-role.
    2. Grant the test-role privileges to view the test task flow.
    3. Create user and grant him the test-role.
    Now we have the public available welcome page and the test page with restricted access.
    When application runs, the welcome page is displayed as expected. Pressing the test button redirect us to auto-generated login page. After successful authorization the test page is displayed. But nothing happens if we click now the return button for the first time. When we click the return button once more, the application crushes with Error-500 and message "Target Unreachable, identifier 'bindings' resolved to null". The exact error trace depends on UI control bindings, but looks like this:
    javax.el.PropertyNotFoundException: //C:/Users/DUDKIN/AppData/Roaming/JDeveloper/system11.1.2.0.38.60.17/o.j2ee/drs/Test1/ViewControllerWebApp.war/test.jsf @10,120 value="#{bindings.Id.inputValue}": Target Unreachable, identifier 'bindings' resolved to null

    @Lovin_JV_941794
    The welcome page is public available since it does not have appropriate PageDef file.
    Login page comes not from the welcome page, it comes after attempt to access the test page. So after the login succeeded the test page appears, because redirect to welcome page after successful login is not configured. I do not need to return the welcome page at this moment, I need to go to the test page.
    It seems the task flow call stack to be destroyed after redirect to login page.

    Read Frank's article http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/issue-archive/2012/12-jan/o12adf-1364748.html
    Then you have to check if the user use use to login are defined in the stand alone server. If you server is running in production mode there is no automatic user or role migration. You have to to this by yourself.
    Once you have check that the users are present, you have to check if the enterprise roles are mapped to the corresponding application roles.

    Hi all,
    I would like to know what the differences between Oracle and other NoSQL database are.
    When and why should we use Oracle?I suggest that you start here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/nosqldb/overview/index.html
    Is Oracle NoSQL database link with Big Data Appliance?Yes, Oracle NoSQL Database will be a component of the Big Data Appliance.
    Can we use map-reduce on a single personal computer? How should we install Oracle NoSQL database to use map reduce on a single personal computer?Yes, I believe you can run M/R on a single computer. Consult the various pieces of documentation available on the web. You may run Oracle NoSQL Database on the same computer that you are running M/R on, but it is likely that they will compete for CPU and IO resources and therefore performance may suffer.
    Do we also have eventual consistency with Oracle NoSQL database? Yes.
    Can we lose data if master node fails?If you run Oracle NoSQL Database with the default (recommended) durability settings, then if the master fails, a new one will be elected and data is not lost.
    Are transactions ACID with Oracle NoSQL database? How can we prove it?Yes, each operation is executed in an ACID transaction. The API has the concept of "multi" operations which allow the caller to perform multiple operations on sets of records with the same major key, but different minor keys. Those operations are also performed within a transaction.

  • ADF Essentials and Glass Fish Server

    Hi,
    I am developing an application using ADF Essentials and GlassFish Server. Is it similar to J2EE Application?
    Regards,
    Jayashree V.

    Oracle ADF based on j2ee technologies. hosting is similar as j2ee ..
    But for normal ADF, only few app server is certified to host.. regarding ADF essential you can host on glass fish as well

  • Adf 12c and wls11g

    HI
    i use adf 12c and i want to deploy my applications on weblogic 11g.
    is it possible? How can i install adf 12c on wls11g
    thanks

    Hi,
    ADF 12C is not supported to be installed with Weblogic 11g .
    The information at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/jdev/documentation/1212-cert-1964670.html#Abrams-SupportInformation-ApplicationServers should be read as follow:
    In case of ADF 12c the only supported WebLogic server is WebLogic 12c. That is stated in the 3rd column of the table in the above document. The 2nd column states that when you use JDeveloper 12c you will be able to connect and deploy directly from JDeveloper to the mentioned application servers 10.3.5+ and 12.1.2. However for ADF 12c the certification is only against 12c.
    So it is not possible to install FMW 12c onto WebLogic 10.3.6.
    Regards,
    Prakash.

    Does Oracle ADF UIX use Struts components internally? If yes, Does Oracle Support the issues that arises because this internally used Struts components? (I am using Oracle ADF in my application.
    Thanks,

    DataForwardAction and DataAction are build on top of struts actions to coordinate ADF databindings and it's life cycle;
    UIX, has xmlns:struts="http://xmlns.oracle.com/uix/struts" this XML namespace has some elements like
    <struts:form> and <struts:messageTextInput> also <struts:dataScope>
    They work like struts jsp tag;
