ADF Standard

Hi,
Can someone at oracle please tell me where I can get detail about ADF Standards.
i have got one link
http://www.oracle.com/webapps/online-help/jdeveloper/10.1.3?topic=af_rcf_resourcekeys_html
is there any resources for 11g ?

These are the selector definitions for 11g:

  • Unable to change ADF standard text for af_table ("Fetching data...")

    I wish to change the standard "Fetching data..." text displayed by ADF when scrolling through a table.
    Looking at the description in http://jdevadf.oracle.com/adf-richclient-demo/docs/skin-selectors.html, I expect to achieve this by overriding "af_table.LABEL_FETCHING" in my skinning resource bundle.
    I am able to override two af_column messages, but my af_table override does NOT work.
    My bundle looks like this;
    package com.vesterli.demo.skinning;
    import java.util.ListResourceBundle;
    public class MySkinBundle extends ListResourceBundle {
    @Override
    public Object[][] getContents() {
    return _CONTENTS;
    private static final Object[][] _CONTENTS =
    { { "af_table.LABEL_FETCHING", "Hang loose, dude" },
    { "af_column.TIP_SORT_ASCENDING", "First things first" },
    { "af_column.TIP_SORT_DESCENDING", "The last shall be the first" } };
    My trinidad-skins.xml looks like this:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="windows-1252" ?>
    <skins xmlns="http://myfaces.apache.org/trinidad/skin">
    <skin>
    <id>vesterli.desktop</id>
    <family>vesterli</family>
    <render-kit-id>org.apache.myfaces.trinidad.desktop</render-kit-id>
    <extends>fusion.desktop</extends>
    <style-sheet-name>css/MySkin.css</style-sheet-name>
    <bundle-name>com.vesterli.demo.skinning.MySkinBundle</bundle-name>
    </skin>
    </skins>
    Since I am seeing my customized column tip texts correctly, the reference from trinidad-config.xml to my skin should be OK (I am also seeing my visual skinning correctly). Since I am seeing some of my texts, my resource bundle must be valid, too. I am using JDev 11.1.1.3.
    So why doesn't the af_table skinning work?
    Any pointers appreciated.
    Best regards
    Sten Vesterli

    I was having this problem too, found this thread and did cleanup here and there, redo etc. But ended up with no luck to fix it.
    Just now discovered the issue is reproducible on the official demo site: table Skinning Key Demo
    1. check the column sorting labels, prefixed with "Demo: "
    2. change any selector setting to trigger a table refresh, it's always displayed as "Fetching Data...", without prefix.(as highlighted in the "Resource styles" on the same page, there should be prefix too).

  • How to create ADF BC components like EO from  "View with INSTEAD OF trigger

    I have a "View with INSTEAD OF trigger" on a external schema. is it possible to create ADF EO on top of this view in my local schema?. If possible, then is it possible to insert/update that external table using ADF standard data controls and Application module?. I'm trying to see if it's possible with standard ADF controls without calling pl/sql API to insert/update that external table. any ideas are appreciated.

  • Future support for using PL/SQL core business logic with ADF BC

    We want to migrate our large Forms client/server (6i) application to ADF, possibly using a migration tool like Ciphersoft Exodus.
    One scenario could be to use ADF BC and ADF-Faces or a different JSF-Implementation for presentation and business layer but keep our heavy PL/SQL-businesslogic inside the Oracle database in packages, triggers, functions and procedures.
    This scenario could be chosen due to the huge amount of interconnected logic inside the database (10 years of development; no technical components; any package may access any table and more of this kind of dependencies). The business logic nowadays held in Forms client will be moved mainly into the database as a prerequisite to this scenario.
    Choosing this "keep-logic-in-DB"-scenario we need a good support by ADF BC to do so. We know and prototyped that it is possible to call some PL/SQL via JDBC from ADF BC and it is possible to use stored procedure calls for standard business entity data access (ins, del, upd, ..). But this does not solve our problems. We want to reuse core business logic coded in PL/SQL. This is much more than change the ADF standard behavior for an update with an own PL/SQL-call.
    Now my question:
    Will there be a kind of sophisticated support to use ADF BC in combination with database-kept logic?
    If so, when will this happen and how will the common problems of transactional state inside the database and inside the ADF BC be solved? Any plans or ideas yet?
    Many other clients do have similar applications built in Forms and PL/SQL and would be glad to hear about a path of direction.
    I've read the technical article 'understanding the ADF BC state management feature' which you have contributed to. One current limitation is pointed out there: Using PL/SQL with ADF BC limits ADF AM pooling to 'restricted level' which reduces scalability.
    Are you aware of additional main problems/tasks to solve when using PL/SQL heavily with ADF BC, which we have to think about?
    Thank you for any response.
    Ingmar

    My main problem is two 'concurrent' areas holding state in an application system based on DB-stored PL/SQL-logic in combination with ADF BC.
    For a new System everything can be made ok:
    Sure, it is possible to build a new system with the business logic included in ADF BC only. All long-living state will be handled in the BC layer ( including support for UnitsOfWork longer than the webside short HTTP-requests and HTTP-sessions and longer than the database transactions.
    For an old system these problems arise:
    1. DB data changes not reflected in BC layer:
    Our PL/SQL-logic changes data in tables without notifying the ADF BC layer (and its cache). To keep the data in ADF BC entity objects identical to the changed database content a synchronization is needed. BC does not know which part of the application data has been changed because it has not initiated the changes through its entity objects. Therefore a full refresh is needed. In a Forms4GL environment the behavior is similar: We do frequently requeries of all relevant (base)tables after calling database stored logic to be sure to get the changed data to display and to operate on it.
    -> Reengineering of the PL/SQL-logic to make the ADF BC layer aware of the changes is a big effort (notifying BC about any change)
    2. longer living database transactions
    Our PL/SQL-logic in some areas makes use of lengthy database transactions. The technical DB-transaction is similar to the UnitOfWork. If we call this existing logic from ADF BC, database state is produced which will not be DB-committed in the same cycle.
    This reduces scalability of ADF BC AM pooling.
    Example:
    a) Call a DB-stored logic to check if some business data is consistent and prepare some data for versioning. This starts a DB-transaction but does not commit it.
    b) Control is handed back to the user interface. Successful result of step a) is displayed
    c) User now executes the versioning operation
    d) Call another DB-stored logic to execute the versioning. DB-transaction is still open
    e) Business layer commits the transaction automatically after successful finishing step d). Otherwise everything from a) to e) is rolled back.
    -> redesign of this behavior (= cutting the 1to1 relation between LogicalUnitOfWork and the technicalDatabaseTransaction is a big effort due to the big amount of code.

  • Remote task flows in ADF

    Is invoking a remote-task-flow in ADF world similar to WSRP concept in weblogic/webcenter world?
    We have a scenario, where we are building an app based on ADF, which needs to share some of its contents (task flows etc) in another ADF based application. Can we leverage remote-task-flow invocation for that, or we need to strictly have a WSRP based approach only. Consider the fact the invoking client app is based on fusion ADF standards.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Thanks for the reply. Yep I agree using web-center we can achieve this, however in our case the supposed consumer application is an ADF based and non weblogic/webcenter one.
    In the white paper link, you mentioned also it says that -
    The resulting WSRP portlets can be consumed by custom Oracle WebCenter applications, by Oracle Portal 11g, and by Oracle WebLogic Portal. The Ensemble pagelets can be consumed by Oracle WebCenter Ensemble and Oracle WebCenter Interaction.
    Hence with that in mind, I was looking at something like a producer consumer for task flows in pure ADF world.
    I am not exactly sure, by what you mean by - 'I would suggest,you better use remote adf taskflow only for reusing it'. Do you mean as a shared library (jar)?
    There is a whitepaper which talks about more than re-usability concept, but more on the lines of - producer consumer (I guess).
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/adf/learnmore/43-remote-task-flow-169185.pdf
    Is this something which can be extended to have a page fragment (not the whole page) of the consumer application call a particular remote task flow?
    Thanks

  • ADF multiple row selection using checkbox

    One of the basic feature missing in ADF 11g is multiple row selection using checkbox (ADF supports multiple row selection by CTRL+CLICK) and business users doesn't like the idea of CTRL+CLICK especially when the volume of click is more. Our requirement is to show the records as selected, on click of checkbox. We implemented multiple row selection by giving a checkbox and on submission, iterate all the rows and filter only selected rows for further processing. The approach works fine,but it is very slow when the volume of data is more, say 10 thousand rows. For 4 thousand records, iterating everything takes more than 200 secs !
    Had the multiple row selection been the ADF standard way using CTRL+CLICK, and retrieving the selected rows using method theTable.getSelectedRowKeys() works much faster (completes in millisecs for 4 thousand records). Somehow ADF fetches the selected records much faster this way. Our requirement is on click of the checkbox, the ADF should select the records ( the same way it is doing CTRL+CLICK) and all such selected rows should be retrievable using the ADF method theTable.getSelectedRowKeys()
    Is there any way it can be done?
    Regards,
    Antony.

    Hi All,
    We have implemented the select and select all using check-box and it is working fine. Issue here is the performance is too slow
    Assume SelectValue is the VO coulmn for the checkbox to select the values. To filter out the selected rows, we use the following line
    Row[] pidRows = pidView.getFilteredRows("SelectValue", Boolean.TRUE);
    it is very taking more than 2 minutes if the total number of rows are *4 thousands* and only if 2 rows are selected.
    Whereas with the CTRL+CLICK standard approach, ADF has a built in API theTable.getSelectedRowKeys(); to get only the selected rows, and the built in API takes only few milliseconds to get the selected rows. Users are not agreeing to the CTRL+CLICK approach as it is not user friendly. Suggest if there is a way to make the select box to make it work the same way as CTRL+CLICK.
    code snippet to do the standard way :
    RowKeySet sk = theTable.getSelectedRowKeys();
    _logger.info("row count of select "+sk.getSize());;+
    Iterator selection =sk.iterator();
    EmpVORowImpl empRow = null;
    +while (selection.hasNext()) {+
    Object rowKey = selection.next();
    theTable.setRowKey(rowKey);
    rowdata = (JUCtrlHierNodeBinding)theTable.getRowData();
    empRow  = (EmpVORowImpl)rowdata.getRow();
    _logger.info("Emp # "+empRow.getEmpno() +" Emp Name : "+empRow.getEname() +" Is selected ? "+empRow.getisChecked());+
    +}+

  • Oracle BPEL Java Client API: Reading Configurations dynamically

    We have a requirement to use Oracle BPEL Java client API to control the BPEL instances at the runtime, from an ADF BC Application. is there any possibility to read the configurations/properties that are required to look up (using 'oracle.soa.management.facade.Locator' ) the BPEL Process Manager/Server from connections.xml/adf-config.xml ?
    In other terms, as we need the details like the bpel server URL, security credentials..etc to lookup the BPEL server and instances using the BPEL java client API, how can we read these details from the ADF standard config files like Connections.xml/adf-config.xml instead of hard coding them in the Java program.

  • Calling DOO standard web service in ADF custom order Capture form

    Hi
    I am trying to call the standard DOO web service in my ADF form and I am using web service data control to call that service. But when I am dragging and drooping the method in my page with the parameters needed for that particular method and try to run the page. Its giving a null pointer exception. The main parameter for that method is _payload which wants an EBM to be passed to it.
    DOO is a distributed Order Orchestration which is part of SCM fusion module. In fusion we can capture the order from different places from a legacy system from an EBS or any other application and then that captured order is passed to
    DOO of fusion by calling a standard web service. But we don't have a order capture form built in ADF from where we can enter order and then pass this info to the DOO web service.
    EBM is Enterprise business message,it is an xml format file which is passed to the DOO of fusion.It accept only EBM format xml in which capture order data is dere with EBM header and the data area which contains the order information.
    The name of the method in web service which is called in j developer is SalesOrderOrchestrationService_pt_SubmitTransformAssignLaunch(__payload). payload is the parameter which accepts the EBM file.
    The sample of an EBM or the xml which is passed to this method of web service as a payload is below.

    Hi,
    for complex services like this the recommendation is to use a JAX-WS proxy client, put a POJO in front (wrapper) to access information and methods to expose in the application and create a POJO DC from the wrapper. This not only is more powerful and allows you to intercept data calls, it also gives you a netter option for debugging and error handling in case something fails.

  • Logging Standards and ADF Application Log File on Standalone WLS

    Hi Experts,
    I am using JDev - 11.1.1.5.0 and WLS - 10.3
    Is ADF Logger the standard logger to be used in an ADF Application? If Yes, how to configure it?
    During development I simply used "System.out.println" for log messages and I was able to see the log messages in the Integrated WLS Console in JDeveloper. Now, I am moving to deployment on Standalone WLS. Please let me know how to configure the logger to log these messages to some log file to be accessed from standalone WLS.
    Thanks

  • What are the best coding standards for ADF 11g?

    Hi,
    Do we have any link that will suggest the best coding standard practices used for ADF 11g?
    I am looking out from the perspective of some standards that can be defined before starting my project to know the team on how to
    1. Minimize Duplicity and max reusability of code
    2. Package the code
    3. Resource bundle usage and its calls
    4. Maintainning format consistency eg. date display format, number format
    5. Exception handling
    6. Logging
    7. Namiing conventions
    Also then we might have standards on
    1. Task flow dev.
    2. EO and VO creation standards
    3. UI development standards [purely ADF component based]
    Thanks in advance

    The ADF Enterprise Methodology Group has a page on standards that gives you a starting point on many of your questions: http://groups.google.com/group/adf-methodology/web/adf-coding-standards

  • Using the Oracle ADF Data Visualization Components in a standard JSF enviro

    Hi,
    I have asked this question on the JDeveloper and ADF forum, haven't gotten a response yet:
    Using the Data Visualization Components from ADF in a JBoss 7.1.1
    .. but I would like to ask the question here as well if anyone have used the data visualization components from Oracle ADF Essentials .. the free version ... using the graph components in general, but I am looking at specifically using the gantt chart component in particular ... in a standard JSF environment ( e.g. Tomcat + Mojarra, or JBoss with the built-in Mojarra implementation ) ??
    I know there are other JSF charting components out there ...like the ones from PrimeFaces, but the gantt chart from ADF looks more ... well .. professional.

    People are not prone to answer questions that are not really a problem. You want to know something about a free product, install it and see for yourself. In any case spreading your question around is not going to help you, the people who know about ADF are still going to be looking in the ADF forum. If you don't get an answer there, what chance do you think you have that you'll get one here where it is off-topic?
    I'll close with a word of advice: you generally pay for quality. If you want professional looking charts, you'll probably have to look at commercial products.

  • Is this possible to display standard JSR-286 data in ADF Task Flow WCP Page

    Below is my scenario,
    I have one Webcenter page. Portlet-A (standard JSR-286 based portlet) consumed from WSRP Registration process and Taskflow-B ( with Fragments ) consumed as region from ADF library jar.
    On the submit of an Drop down menu/submit button in Portlet-A , I want display selected data in Taskflow-B.
    Please help me out.

    Hi Yannick,
    Thanks a lot for the information. It worked.
    The portlet data can be accessible using bindings, but parameter name can be different.
    Meanwhile I have got one more scenario, where the Portlet and Task Flow placed in different pages of WCP Application. On change of data in the Portlet the application should navigate to another page where the Task Flow placed and displays selected data.
    Basically I can not use any button for navigation. The navigation should happen once I do some action in Portlet.
    Is this possible? If yes can you please let me know the steps?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Standard Pattern to Access EBS VOs from ADF page

    Hi,
    I want to access EBS VOs from ADF Page. Is there any Standard Design Pattern to Access EBS VOs from ADF Page
    Thanks in Advance,
    Pradnya

    Hi,
    Actually I want to display Data from Oracle EBS to ADF Page. I want to know the standard Practice.
    Please suggest which option is suitable in this case:
    1. Shall Icreate VOs from View as by you. But if we create VO can we access it from ADF page?
    2. I should use either SOA gateway to expose Stored Procedures of EBS as webservice and access webservice from ADF backing Bean.
    3 Access EBS views from Toplink/ Hibernate (ORM) create EJB service on top of it. Access this EJB service from ADF Page.
    Thanks in advance,
    Pradnya

  • Pixel size representation standard in ADF

    This post is related to
    Choice list resizeing
    What is the standard way for representing pixel values in inlineStyle property for the components? is it to use 20px or 20.0px.
    Jdeveloper internally changes to 20.0px if yoy type 20px for the property.
    Expecting a reply from Product managers especially Frank or Chris or Shay.

    But why Jdev not converts ContentStyle to 20.0px while writing 20px?
    Also notice that when u set any style property for InlineStyle & converts to 20.0px, u can
    again directly edit 20px in InlineStyle. This change reflects in code editor also. After running page
    u can check your html page source to see applied style property as 20px & not 20.0px.
    At the end, following the standards is good for proper result but standards are resting inside your result always.
