ADF Table load time
this.getCmSubscriberNewView1().executeEmptyRowSet();
Hi,
JDeveloper 11.1.1.3.0v
I have 6 tables in my jspx page and before loading the page. I am calling the AM method to clear the previous data by the below code.
this.getCmSubsw1().executeEmptyRowSet();
Now my issue is, even though I call this executeEmptyRowSet, table is taking long time to load. I dont want any execution of my VO object's at the time of page load.
All I want is, when ever user clicks on search button, these vo's should get executed and load the data.
Please let me know how to achieve this.
Thanks.
Hi,
beside that there seems to be something with your query when the initial load time takes ages, you can set the refresh condition on the iterator in the PageDef file to not query the data. For example, set the refresh condition to a managed bean attribute which returns false by default. Then, when the user clicks a button to query the table, set the attribute to "true". Make sure the managed bean is in viewScope so that when you navigate away from the page to then come back, it does show empty again

Increase Adf Application Load Time
We have identified that ADF application is taking very long time to load at very first time , it is taking time to load the images,css and java script files ..
only after all these resources are downloaded, then it is starting to load the page..
Is there a way to load the page (displaying content on browser) in spite of waiting complete dom is ready. (domConetntLoaded).?
Is there any why to increase the page load time.?User, tell us your jdev version, please!
The framework loads some content up front, which takes time. There are some techniques you can use to reduce this time like http://www.ateam-oracle.com/improving-adf-page-rendering-time/
or resource losing servlet which can cache calls and deliver images or other stuff faster.

Setting components values in the ADF page load time
Hi,
We are trying to set the components labels dynamically, so each time the page is loaded we are loading the related labels from the database, instead of using the default database column names driven labels.
We get the labels text okay from the database in the afterPhase method, but we do not have access to the output text UI items then, so a call scuh as this getOutputText1() will return null.
We have also tried to use value binding for the output text, e.g. value=#{backing_untitled2.verbiage}, where verbiage attribute was set in the afterPhase method. The method is called okay and sets the attribute, but for some reason the attribute is then set back and displayed as null.
The same code is executed okay in a command button.
Any idea why is that failing, or how to populate these labels dynamically in the page load time better than the above?
Thanks in advance
Mohamed ElmallahHi,
I think you should re-think your strategy and not read the labels from the database all the time. Instead, read it into a class that extends HashMap one time and put it into the session. Then reference the bean #{sessionScope.beanname['label'], which will call the HashMap's getter method. Use the "label" name to find the label for the particular key
If you r application becomes big, you may want to think of handling the session bean size through leaning it under specific conditions

ADF Table with check box on each row - First time selection gets unchecked
Hi,
The ADF Table has a check box in each, whenever a select box is clicked for the first time , it gets unselected automatically.
Also if I select a row / click on a row and then select the check box, it is properly getting selected. I see there is some kind of autosubmit happens. Is there a way to handle this scenerio?
Regards,
DhamoI had this same issue happen in 11.1.1.6.x This is a bug involving an autosubmit when the checkbox is selected.
After migrating to 11.1.1.7.0 on J Developer and Weblogic, the problem was fixed.
One thing to check is to make sure you are using the jars from ADF 11.1.1.7.0.
Hope that helps -
How to focus a specified column in ADF Table at run time?
I drag and drop an ADF table.It contains *10 column*..I bind the column using ArrayList..First 3 column is set frozen =True..At the time of runtime,a Horizontal scroll is appeared..*May be for certain conditions , only 8th column contains values at run time.So i want to focus that column Only*.Because it is very easy for an user to see the value..If not,user has to scroll the bar to check. How can i focus a specified column?
Hi Briston,
You can make the column selected by setting "selected" property of column to true

Bind a new view object to same adf table at run time
Hello,
I have an adf table, that changes based on the type of data the user selects. For example, lets say we have a page that consists of type drop down box at the top and an ADF table at the bottom, which lists data based on the type that is selected from the drop down box. For example, lets say, I have the types (Cars, Planes, and Trains).
Let's further say we have a view object for cars, one for Planes and one for Trains. Each VO has its own specific set of attributes associated with them, which in should be reflected in the adf table that's on the screen.
So for example, I select Train..
My table should contain the columns, num cabs, train type, year built
For plane, the columns might be Num engines, plane manufacturer, size(ie. 747, 727, etc), year built
Some type of thing with Cars , cylinders, color, model, year, etc.
Is there a way to tell my adf table to use a specific view object(ie. Plane, train, or car) at runtime?You can try implementing this with dynamic components, e.g. dynamic table
>
ADF Dynamic and ADF Read-Only Dynamic Table: Allows you to create a
table when the attributes returned and displayed are determined dynamically
at runtime. This component is helpful when the attributes for the
corresponding object are not known until runtime, or you do not wish to
hardcode the column names in the JSF page. For more information about
working with dynamic components, see Section 26.7, "Using a Dynamic Form
to Determine Data to Display at Runtime."
>
Or you use dynamic regions and swithc the region containing the table depending on the selectOneChice. Check http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24382_01/web.1112/e16182/taskflows_regions.htm and https://blogs.oracle.com/shay/entry/adf_dynamic_regions_switching_just

Hi,
ADF Jdeveloper: 11.1.1.3.0
I have a page with 10 tables. My issue is, all queries are executing in a second but page is taking more than 3 mins to load the data. All the time it is showing Fetching Data....
Is there any way to get rid of this load time. We have checked the database sessions and found that all queries are executing very fast.
Please help me.
Thanks.Hi,
actually the whole tab renders. So what you can do is to initially hide the content on this tab except for an outer container that you refresh after setting rendered=true on the initial hidden content. This should eliminate the loading. However, if the problem is when clicking the tab - thus when you want the content to be visible - then I would reconsider loading 10 tables at once and look for alternatives

JDev 11g TP4: ADF tables and ADF form pop-ups PPR?
I was hoping somebody could help me with the following please.
I'm currently having a bit of an issue with ADF tables and ADF forms embedded in a pop-up, where the wrong record is shown in the popup. I suspect it's a PPR problem but am unsure. My scenario:
1) I have the following table:
CREATE TABLE "CHRIS_MUIR_DELETE_ME" (
"ID" NUMBER(5,0)
"SOME_COLUMN" VARCHAR2(20 BYTE)
CONSTRAINT "CHRIS_MUIR_DELETE_ME_PK" PRIMARY KEY ("ID"));2) I have a default ADF BC EO/VO combination for this table.
3) I have an ADF Faces RC page with a read-only table based on this VO:
<af:table value="#{bindings.ChrisMuirDeleteMeView.collectionModel}" var="row"
rows="#{bindings.ChrisMuirDeleteMeView.rangeSize}"
emptyText="#{bindings.ChrisMuirDeleteMeView.viewable ? 'No rows yet.' : 'Access Denied.'}"
fetchSize="#{bindings.ChrisMuirDeleteMeView.rangeSize}"
selectedRowKeys="#{bindings.ChrisMuirDeleteMeView.collectionModel.selectedRow}"
selectionListener="#{bindings.ChrisMuirDeleteMeView.collectionModel.makeCurrent}"
rowSelection="single" partialTriggers="myDialog">
<af:column sortProperty="Id" sortable="false"
headerText="#{bindings.ChrisMuirDeleteMeView.hints.Id.label}">
<af:outputText value="#{row.Id}">
<af:convertNumber groupingUsed="false" pattern="#{bindings.ChrisMuirDeleteMeView.hints.Id.format}"/>
</af:outputText>
</af:column>
<af:column sortProperty="SomeColumn" sortable="false"
headerText="#{bindings.ChrisMuirDeleteMeView.hints.SomeColumn.label}">
<af:outputText value="#{row.SomeColumn}"/>
</af:column>
</af:table>Note that rowSelection is set to "single".
3) The page also includes a popup-dialog combo that shows the same data from the table (ie. they're based on the same VO) as an ADF Input Form:
<af:popup id="myPopUp">
<af:dialog type="okCancel" id="myDialog">
<af:panelFormLayout>
<af:inputText value="#{bindings.Id.inputValue}"
label="#{bindings.Id.hints.label}"
required="#{bindings.Id.hints.mandatory}">
<f:validator binding="#{bindings.Id.validator}"/>
<af:convertNumber groupingUsed="false" pattern="#{bindings.Id.format}"/>
</af:inputText>
<af:inputText value="#{bindings.SomeColumn.inputValue}"
label="#{bindings.SomeColumn.hints.label}"
required="#{bindings.SomeColumn.hints.mandatory}"/>
</af:inputText>
</af:panelFormLayout>
</af:dialog>
</af:popup>Note that the table's partialTriggers is set to the id of the dialog. This implies on return from the dialog, the table will update itself to reflect any changes.
4) I have a data bound Create commandButton, + a simple Edit commandButton. The Edit button includes an <af:showPopupBehavior> to display the popup:
<af:commandButton
actionListener="#{bindings.Create.execute}" text="Create"
disabled="#{!bindings.Create.enabled}"
partialTriggers="table1"/>
<af:commandButton text="Edit">
<af:showPopupBehavior popupId="myPopUp"/>
</af:commandButton>If you run the form with the following steps, you can reproduce my issue:
1) Click the create button, this will create a blank record in the <af:table>
2) Click the edit button and give the 2 fields values, press ok. Note this is reflected back in the table.
3) Click the create button, you will now see another blank record in the <af:table>. Note that the current row selection highlight is on the new record.
4) In the table select the original record, then the Edit button. Oddly the input form is showing the blank record, not the original record even though we selected it in the <af:table>
This implies to me that I have to hook up a PPR event such that the fields on the popup know to update themselves when the user selects a new row in the table.
I've tried setting the partialTriggers property for the popup, dialog and individual fields on the popup page to the table id, but this doesn't seem to work.
Does anybody have any suggestions on how I'm meant to hook up the partialTriggers in this case? I'm at a bit of a loss to know what to do to solve this issue. Is it possible the table selectionListener isn't working?
Thanks for your help in advance.
Regards,
CM.G'day gang
This morning I had a chance to play with Pavle's suggestions, specifically the popup contentDelivery option, and it's solved the issue. Specifically changing the contentDelivery option to lazyUncached was the golden solution.
As the popup component help states, the default functionality is: "lazy -- the default strategy described above. The content isn't loaded until you show the popup once, but then is cached."
....cached being the issue I was seeing.....
While the lazyUncached options states: "lazyUncached -- the content isn't loaded until you show the popup, and then is re-fetched every subsequent time you show the popup. Use this strategy if the popup shows data that can become stale."
The nasty thing about the lazy option is the fact that in the dialog it can show the previous cached result (even though you've selected a different record), and you can even appear to edit that cached result in the dialog, but when you press okay in the dialog and return to the previous table, it's updated the record you selected, not the cached result.
Confusing, but not a bug if you understand the popup contentDelivery options.
Frank, if you'd like it, I have the simple test case available to send you. But as it's not a bug I wont send it to you unless requested.
Thanks to both of you for your assistance with this one. Once again your help is much appreciated! :)
I'll take time out to blog about this in the next few weeks to assist others.
Thanks & regards,

Intro ADF Faces Tutorial Issue: ADF Table Component and ADF Binding
Hello, friends! I've hit a snag with ADF Faces Tutorial: ADF Table Component and ADF Binding: Step 7
http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe11jdev/11/rich_client/adfrichclient.htm#t11
It was suggested by Steve Muench that I most likely have a syntax error and that I should post my problem here. I want to you thank you in advance for you help!
When I execute the Run command on the main.jspx page, the page completes its load with the "fetching" message hanging over the table component. I get two sets of messages in my OC4J log that I cannot easily decipher, being a JDev/OC4J newbie.

Thanks!
DavidDear All,
I am fairly new to ADF development too. While following the Tutorial, I selected the "simple" page template. and check the "Create as XML Document (*.jspx). then click "OK", I got a similar SAXParseException exception, however the main.jspx seemed showed up correctly in the "Design" window. Any idea? Thanks a lot.

Long Load Times on Graphic Intensive Games
I'm experiencing some absurdly long load times (1-3 hours) with many games (SPORE, Portal, X:3, etc...) that I believe may be related to how graphically intensive they are. Older games with lower graphics quality (WoW, Civ 4, etc...) load up fine.
When I load any newer game the icon appears in the tray and the computer does nothing else for at least an hour, whereupon the program loads and begins playing immediately--often without any further delays or issues.
I also use Boot Camp to run Windows Vista (Ultimate 32) and experience no delays when running SPORE on Windows.
Below are my specs:

Jdev 11.1.1.5 R1 How To Get Row Data From ADF Table
Hi everyone,
I have an ADF Table Populated with dummy data (for now). Below the Table there is an InputText field.
What I need to do is have the body of the message show up in the InputText field when the user clicks on a message in the inbox(Table).
I've been trying to figure this out for quite some time now, unsuccessfully of course. Hopefully you guys can help me change that.
I do consider myself a beginner still, so please be as clear and specific as possible.
Thanks in advance!
Here is the code I have for the Table/InputText and Backing Beans

Hi,
I am trying to create ADF table at run time. Initially I tried to include all the tables at design time. Then I turned the setVisible property to false. Then , based on the condition, I turned it to true at runTime, so that to give the effect of the table getting created at run time.
But now, I would like to know , is there any option to extract the table component from the ViewObject or from the iterator, at run time.
say,
I have my ViewObject like this.
DCIteratorBinding dcIter=(DCIteratorBinding)bindings.getControlBinding("Table1View1Iterator");
ViewObject vo=dcIter.getViewObject();
Now, I have a panel, 'pb1'. I am able to add input boxes at run time. Now I want to add the table that corresponds to the above View also at run time.
Could someone pls give me the suggestion..
Thanks,
Sabarisri. Nwell, in that case you can create table dynamically from managed bean. I am giving you a sample code which add row dynamically to a table on click of "Add" button.
jspx code:
<af:document id="d1" title="XXXX">
<af:form id="f1">
<af:commandButton text="Add" id="cb1" action="#{MyBean.add}"/>
<af:table varStatus="rowStat" summary="table"
value="#{MyBean.collectionModel}"
rows="#{MyBean.collectionModel.rowCount}"
rowSelection="none" contentDelivery="immediate" var="row"
rendered="true" id="t1">
<af:forEach items="#{MyBean.columnNames}"
var="name">
<af:column sortable="true" sortProperty="#{name}"
rowHeader="unstyled" headerText="#{name}"
inlineStyle="width:100px;" id="c1">
<af:activeOutputText value="#{row[name]}" id="aot1"/>
</af:column>
</af:forEach>
</af:table>
</af:form>
</af:document>managed bean:
import java.util.ArrayList;
import java.util.HashMap;
import java.util.List;
import java.util.Map;
import org.apache.myfaces.trinidad.model.CollectionModel;
import org.apache.myfaces.trinidad.model.SortableModel;
public class MyBean {
private SortableModel model;
private List<String> columnNames;
public MyBean() {
System.out.println("Cntl in MyBean constructor :::");
columnNames = new ArrayList<String>();
columnNames.add("Col-1");
columnNames.add("Col-2");
// generateColumnModel();
public void generateColumnModel() {
this.model = new SortableModel(createRows(columnNames));
private static List<Map> createRows(List<String> columnNames) {
int i = 0;
List<Map> mapListforRows = new ArrayList<Map>();
//for (String name : columnNames) {
Map newRow = new HashMap();
mapListforRows.add(newRow);
for (String col : columnNames) {
newRow.put(col, "data");
return mapListforRows;
public String add() {
System.out.println("Cntl in add method :::");
// columnNames = new ArrayList<String>();
// columnNames.add("Col-1");
// columnNames.add("Col-2");

return null;
public CollectionModel getCollectionModel() {

How to tune data loading time in BSO using 14 rules files ?
Hello there,
I'm using Hyperion-Essbase-Admin-Services v11.1.1.2 and the BSO Option.
In a nightly process using MAXL i load new data into one Essbase-cube.
In this nightly update process 14 account-members are updated by running 14 rules files one after another.
These rules files connect 14 times by sql-connection to the same oracle database and the same table.
I use this procedure because i cannot load 2 or more data fields using one rules file.
It takes a long time to load up 14 accounts one after other.
Now my Question: How can I minimise this data loading time ?
This is what I found on Oracle Homepage:
What's New
Oracle Essbase V.11.1.1 Release Highlights
Parallel SQL Data Loads- Supports up to 8 rules files via temporary load buffers.
In an Older Thread John said:
As it is version 11 why not use parallel sql loading, you can specify up to 8 load rules to load data in parallel.
Example:
import database AsoSamp.Sample data
connect as TBC identified by 'password'
using multiple rules_file 'rule1','rule2'
to load_buffer_block starting with buffer_id 100
on error write to "error.txt";
But this is for ASO Option only.
Can I use it in my MAXL also for BSO ?? Is there a sample ?
What else is possible to tune up nightly update time ??
Thanks in advance for every tip,
ZeljkoThanks a lot for your support. I’m just a little confused.
I will use an example to illustrate my problem a bit more clearly.
This is the basic table, in my case a view, which is queried by all 14 rules files:
column1 --- column2 --- column3 --- column4 --- ... ---column n
dim 1 --- dim 2 --- dim 3 --- data1 --- data2 --- data3 --- ... --- data 14
Region -- ID --- Product --- sales --- cogs ---- discounts --- ... --- amount
West --- D1 --- Coffee --- 11001 --- 1,322 --- 10789 --- ... --- 548
West --- D2 --- Tea10 --- 12011 --- 1,325 --- 10548 --- ... --- 589
West --- S1 --- Tea10 --- 14115 --- 1,699 --- 10145 --- ... --- 852
West --- C3 --- Tea10 --- 21053 --- 1,588 --- 10998 --- ... --- 981
East ---- S2 --- Coffee --- 15563 --- 1,458 --- 10991 --- ... --- 876
East ---- D1 --- Tea10 --- 15894 --- 1,664 --- 11615 --- ... --- 156
East ---- D3 --- Coffee --- 19689 --- 1,989 --- 15615 --- ... --- 986
East ---- C1 --- Coffee --- 18897 --- 1,988 --- 11898 --- ... --- 256
East ---- C3 --- Tea10 --- 11699 --- 1,328 --- 12156 --- ... --- 9896
Following 3 out of 14 (load-) rules files to load the data columns into the cube:
Rules File1:
dim 1 --- dim 2 --- dim 3 --- sales --- ignore --- ignore --- ... --- ignore
Rules File2:
dim 1 --- dim 2 --- dim 3 --- ignore --- cogs --- ignore --- ... --- ignore
Rules File14:
dim 1 --- dim 2 --- dim 3 --- ignore --- ignore --- ignore --- ... --- amount
Is the upper table design what GlennS mentioned as a "Data" column concept which only allows a single numeric data value ?
In this case I cant tag two or more columns as “Data fields”. I just can tag one column as “Data field”. Other data fields I have to tag as “ignore fields during data load”. Otherwise, when I validate the rules file, an Error occurs “only one field can contain the Data Field attribute”.
Or may I skip this error massage and just try to tag all 14 fields as “Data fields” and “load data” ?
Please advise.
Am I right that the other way is to reconstruct the table/view (and the rules files) like follows to load all of the data in one pass:
dim 0 --- dim 1 --- dim 2 --- dim 3 --- data
Account --- Region -- ID --- Product --- data
sales --- West --- D1 --- Coffee --- 11001
sales --- West --- D2 --- Tea10 --- 12011
sales --- West --- S1 --- Tea10 --- 14115
sales --- West --- C3 --- Tea10 --- 21053
sales --- East ---- S2 --- Coffee --- 15563
sales --- East ---- D1 --- Tea10 --- 15894
sales --- East ---- D3 --- Coffee --- 19689
sales --- East ---- C1 --- Coffee --- 18897
sales --- East ---- C3 --- Tea10 --- 11699
cogs --- West --- D1 --- Coffee --- 1,322
cogs --- West --- D2 --- Tea10 --- 1,325
cogs --- West --- S1 --- Tea10 --- 1,699
cogs --- West --- C3 --- Tea10 --- 1,588
cogs --- East ---- S2 --- Coffee --- 1,458
cogs --- East ---- D1 --- Tea10 --- 1,664
cogs --- East ---- D3 --- Coffee --- 1,989
cogs --- East ---- C1 --- Coffee --- 1,988
cogs --- East ---- C3 --- Tea10 --- 1,328
discounts --- West --- D1 --- Coffee --- 10789
discounts --- West --- D2 --- Tea10 --- 10548
discounts --- West --- S1 --- Tea10 --- 10145
discounts --- West --- C3 --- Tea10 --- 10998
discounts --- East ---- S2 --- Coffee --- 10991
discounts --- East ---- D1 --- Tea10 --- 11615
discounts --- East ---- D3 --- Coffee --- 15615
discounts --- East ---- C1 --- Coffee --- 11898
discounts --- East ---- C3 --- Tea10 --- 12156
amount --- West --- D1 --- Coffee --- 548
amount --- West --- D2 --- Tea10 --- 589
amount --- West --- S1 --- Tea10 --- 852
amount --- West --- C3 --- Tea10 --- 981
amount --- East ---- S2 --- Coffee --- 876
amount --- East ---- D1 --- Tea10 --- 156
amount --- East ---- D3 --- Coffee --- 986
amount --- East ---- C1 --- Coffee --- 256
amount --- East ---- C3 --- Tea10 --- 9896
And the third way is to adjust the essbase.cfg parameters DLTHREADSPREPARE and DLTHREADSWRITE (and DLSINGLETHREADPERSTAGE)
I just want to be sure that I understand your suggestions.
Many thanks for awesome help,
Zeljko
