Adjust control values while VI is running

Have another question, but its irrelevant to my other post so I thought i'd make a new one:
I'm near complete with this VI, however i would like to add the ability to change my Control values in my front panel while the VI is running, either through some sort of feedback or w/e.  For example, if the power supply i'm running is at 10V during the time, i would like to bump it up to 20 v without having to start/stop the VI completely.
Is there an efficient/good way to do this?

Really not able to open your attached vi as most of its dependencies are not included. So without looking at it I would say that putting everything in an event structure, then having events trigger on changes to your controls would be the way to go. But without seeing the code ...

  • Why can't I save control values while running an application in 6.1?

In Labview 5.1 I was able to save change control and indicator values while running the application. I accomplished this by using the MAKE CURRENT VALUES DEFAULT Method on a VI invoke node. How do I accomplish the same in 6.1?

If I remember correctly, the same limitation with the method existed in 5.1 as it does in 6.1 - namely you can't use the method while the VI is running. See here, here, and here for just a brief sample of the numerous times this question has come up and the possible solutions.

  • Error on Control Center while trying to run jobs

    Hi,
I got a problem while trying to run the scheduled jobs or process flows.
We tried restarting the control center service manually. It is started without throwing any errors at the backend. But when I open the control center service and try to start or stop a job, its throwing the below error.
    The error is as below.

    Hi Oliver,
    Thanks again!!
There are a lot of queues in DBA_Queues.
But how can we know which queues should be enabled and which queues should be disabled? As I observed, All the Exception queues are disabled and the reamining queues are enabled.
About the parameter aq_tm_processes, we have not changed the value of it. Previously, all the jobs used to execute perfectly with the same setting. So, I dont think the value is a problem.
Recently, we had the below problem in database, because of which all the jobs got stalled/hanged. The system DBA had resolved this problem by extending the SYSTEM tablespace. After that all the database is fine except the OWB jobs. Is there any impact on the on the owb jobs because of the below error?
ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
ORA-01653: unable to extend table SYS.AUD$ by 8192 in tablespace SYSTEM

  • Effects control micro adjustment on value with mouse

    Hi,
I was wondering if there is any shortcut or any way to move values on effect controls but with more detail control, more like micro adjustment.
I'm trying to do Color grade in premiere CC, since speedgrade is too complicate workflow for the kind of huge project I'm working on.
I'm adding adjustment layers with RGB curves and  3wayCC but the adjustment on values are brutal, you move the mouse a bit and the value changes a lot is there any command shortcut with the mouse to have a better control on the values?
    thanks a lot
hope someday adobe creates dynamic link with speedgrade like with AE. that will make Creative cloud the most perfect software for postproduction

too bad, hope the fix this on next version
where you want to have detail control is exactly the values that you cant do micro adjustments.
like color wheels, and levels curves.
I found that some values that have the sliders (min Max) if you open the slider you can move the slider with more control pressing command.
    thanks anyway for your answers

  • Event controll: How to stop a running while loop inside a event structure

    Hello,
I have some problems with controlling a while loop inside a event structure (see attached VI).
I habe 3 buttons ("Start Measurement, Stop Measurement, Quit Program"). When a measurement is running, it should be possible to stop the measurement by clicking on "Stop Measurement", but this does not work.
    Has anyone an idea?
Thanks a lot and best regards,

    Hello,
Try not to use while loops inside a Event structure.
My approach is using two While loops (one will have only the Event structure).
I had to use to Flag buttons that make it a bit more complicated but i am sure somebody will come up with a better idea, or you might want to have a think about it yourself.
Have a look on the modified version on the attachment.
Once you are happy how it works then you can Hide the 2 flag buttons from the Front Pannel by going to Block diagram right-click the indicators and choose option "Hide Indicators/Controls"
I did it in LV 8.6 so i hope you can open it on your PC if not i can downgrade it.
If you have any problem let us know.

  • Is it possible to reinitialise a control value to default each time the program redo his cycle in a while loop ?

Is it possible to reinitialise a control value to default each time the program redo his cycle in a while loop ?
My problem is that I have a numeric control (0 or 1) and I want taht wahn the numeric is 1 labview makes the writing process of my data but after that the control must return to 0 to write only one time.
Is it possible ? I've tried some trials but none of them succeded

well i'm student and i have to write a program for school i don't know labview very well.
i post here the part of the program i have to do so you can see what i must do .
The button pass with datasocket so i can't use boolean and the problem is that the value must be set to 1 only for one cycle (one writing of the values). so when th people set it to 1 in internet explorer for exemple the value must be considered as a impulsion and as it is it always do a lot of cycle until the man set it manualy to 0 what i don't want.

    Hi everyone,
One of my users tried to run a rule in Hyperion Planning 11.1.1.3 and an error occurred:   Error detected while attempting to run job
When I went to Essbase, I found that when I launched the rule an error appeared:
ERROR - 1006059 - Invalid block header: Illegal block type -- Please use the IBH Locate/Fix utilities to find/fix the IBH problem.
I read that it could be an issue related to corrupted blocks. I'm not familiar with MXL and I read that there are commands that I could run. Someody could provide me help?

  • Is it better to use Invoke nodes or property nodes to set/get control values?

I have a series of VI's that run in parallel, each to manage different functions- pumping, sensing, a fluid flow model, an experiment generator/runner.
These need to exchange data, which I am currently doing using invoke nodes (that are all in subVIs), using methods "Set control value" and "Get control value". I find that every now and then (perhaps 1% of the time) the data isn't exchanged correctly and therefore the system doesn't work. I can imagine how "set" could go wrong if they happen simultaneously, and can devise ways of preventing this. However, the "Get" method suffers from the same problem. This is a major problem, because I want to leave it running for several hours.
    I could in
principle achieve the same thing using property nodes and find myself wondering if this might be more reliable. But I don't want to change over only to find it makes no difference!
    Can anyone advise?

You can use some kind of syncronization such as queues, occurances, or notifiers but I think the easiest way would be to create and action engine. This was only one action can execute at a time avoiding a "race condition". Possibly a write action and a read action might help. You also can add queues or notifiers into this concept. hope this helps.

  • Do I need to set something when using Dynamic VIs to pass control values to an executable VI

I am using VI server to pass control information from one VI to another.
In the development system this works fine.
How ever once I build the VI's into an executable the values from one of the VIs does not get passed.
I use the same method in three different applications, 2 of the applications work fine, but one does not.
The only thing I can think of is that there is something that needs to be set that I did (without realizing) in the first two but not in the third.
    All the Applications run fine.
The problem that occurs is in the values passed. The same value gets passed everytime this turns out to be what ever the default was prior to running application builder.
    I a
    m currently using 6.02.

Are you using Call by Reference or Set Control Value method? The second
absolutely requires the Front Panel to be present to work properly. The
LabVIEW application builder wants to remove the Front Panel by default
if the VI hasn't been configured to show its front panel when called or
doesn't have at least one Control Property Node in its diagram.

  • Recupérer les valeur d'un Control via un .obj appelé depuis une DLL- Getting a Control value from an .obj file called from a dll

    Bonjour,
    Merci
    Hi,
When using the LoadExternalModule function in CVI 2013, we can no longer use a .c file. Instead we have to use an .obj file.
My issue is that' impossible for me to get a control value from an .iur managed by the .obj witchi is called by a dll.
Otherwise it's impossible for me to get the control vale when calling the .obj from a dll.
    Any suggestions Amigos
    Thanks

For people who could be interested in, here the code I provided to the customer. This code demonstrates that calling a function defined in a .obj file from a DLL which is called itself by a program can be realized without throwing any error.
In order to use this example, you will have to :
    1) Open "main.cws"
    2) Define "Madll" as Active Project (right clic on the project and click on "Set Active Project")
    3) Build the DLL (CTRL+M)
    4) Define "Main" as Active Project
    5) Click on "Debug Project" in order to build the executable and run it
This example has been built with CVI 2013.

  • How to create a time control for while loop?

    Hello all,
I would like to control my while loop's execution time. In other words I want to stop while loop's execution after time (in ms) which is set by user. For example user sets 5 seconds to front panel control and a while loop runs and stops after 5 seconds.
I am not sure is it possible with the while loop. I succeed with the timed loop but it suits badly to my application. Is there any other loops for timed control if it is not possible with while loop? There is also a simple while loop with Random Number (0-1).vi as attachment.

  • An exception occurred while trying to run "cmicnfg.cpl, cmCtrlwND"

I have recently installed the MSI KT6 Delta main-board with the VIA KT600 chipset On loading windows XP home edition the following error message appears:
    RUNDLL
An exception occurred while trying to run “cmicnfg.cpl, cmCtrlwND”
I think the error messages is related to the on-board sound card software in the control panel, but have been unable to remove the error message. The sound card works fine.
    Cheers

I think there is an autostart function of C-Media that you have disabled or is not working properly. Run MSCONFIG and check the autostart tab. Either you disable the C-media post or enable it. If the sound is OK I suggest you disable.
If you just want to get rid of the message, we can dive into the Registry, but we wait a little I think.
(Possibly Windows trying to handle the sound department since it might think it has better drivers. Find the latest for XP. Unzip or whatever, go to Device Manager and update drivers. )
