Admin user removed from Permissions

After upgrading my wiki server to 10.6.4 I found the admin user was no longer part of the Administrative permissions for each users wiki. I check their metadata.plist file and sure enough the admin user ( and other users ) was missing from the admin access. After adding the admin back in and restarting the web service everything worked for that one wiki but I have over 1100 wikis. Anyone else run into this issue?

Hi,
To block IE from connecting to internet, you can create a deny outbound rule in Windows Firewall.
Locate to Advanced settings in Windows Firewall.
From the left pane, click Outbound Rules.
Click Action, select New Rule option, and then perform step by step.
Also you can set up a dummy proxy server.
Go to Tools> Internet Options>
Connections> LAN Settings.
Uncheck “Automatically detect settings” and select the option to use a proxy server.
Set the address to a dummy IP (127.0.0.1) followed by port 80.
Thanks!

  • HT4798 Changing back to Admin User ID from 502 to 501

I have just used Migration assistant to my new iMac with Mountain Lion. In attempting to re-install images into Aperture I get the error message that I dont have permission. Can I change my User Admin ID from 502 back to 501 in order to regain my Admin control of files?

    Hi Eric thanks for reply,
Just the one Admin, which after my migration I note that the User ID is set to 502 and presumably not 501 which it should be. The Migration from my Macbook Pro caused such chaos unfortunately. I have at last managed to get Aperture working again but it wont let me Import to projects, as I was getting the warning messge that I didn't have permissions to save. I think that is why the setting needs to be put back to 501.
I setup a new User account giving myself full ADMIN, logged in and managed to get the files imported.
Can I therefore go back to my old Login and change the advance settings back to USER ID 501 from 502. I hope I have made this clear?
    Kind regards

accidentally removed from, sharing and permissions the admin user, and now i do not when i find the home icon at my computer i do not have permmission, and the mac does not works properly, lots of question mark at the dock ,please help

I'm going to assume that since you deleted your hard drive and all its files, you had a backup, yes? If the backup has an OS (bootable clone), then you can boot into it by holding down the option key when you start up you iMac and choose the backup drive. Then use Carbon Copy Cloner or Super Duper to copy the files back to your iMac.

  • Removing admin user from planning application

    Hi,
i have a small question that possibly u can answer easily.
in workflow process when users click "change status", at promote and approve "admin" user comes up with in combo-box.
we are sharing shared services with another project team so i dont wanna show "admin" to my users in that list cos i have "plnadmin" as application owner.
by the way "admin" was deprovisioned from planning applications on HSS such that he cannot log-in to planning application. (user doesnot exists for this application message.)
but he still exists in workflow process combo-boxes and "Administration->Application Settings->Assign application Owner" combo-box.
how can i remove him ?
    thx,
    Version: 11.1.1.2

    Hi,
In theory it should remove the admin user if they have been deprovisioned and the application owner assigned to another user. I did a quick check on 11.1.1.3 and it removed the admin user from the workflow and tables.
Maybe it has not removed the user because a workflow was already in progress even though it worked for me.
There are probably a number of ways to try and removing the user e.g. try restart planning service and log into the application to see if it syncs up with shared services (it should do if the property SYNC_USER_ON_LOGON is set to true, which is default for planning)
Try stopping the workflow process and run a refresh, or go to access permissions for a member and click migrate identities to see if it clears the table.
Final stage would be to manually remove from the repository tables.
(sorry if I have not covered all areas, I sure somebody will give you different ideas or repeat what I say)
    Cheers

  • User being removed from Domain Admins...how to find all servers his account is being used.

We have a user that is being removed from IT (more like being forcefully demoted) and our owner still finds him valuable in other departments. My challenge is to find all servers that he may be using his account locally on (as a service or added to a local
admin group). It hasn't happened yet, but we need to be prepared to say we know all the servers his account is on when the owner demotes him.
I'm hoping someone has an approach to this that doesn't include going through tons of Event Viewer Security logs. We do have System Center Configuration Manager and Operations Manager 2012 w/ SP1, but the guy that is responsible for those is the guy we are removing
and none of us are aware on how to use the possible tools that those have. If you feel that those would do the trick then please point me to a "how to" and I'll try to learn on the fly. Otherwise I'll take any other suggestions.

    Hi Rick,
Based on my research, you can filter events logs based on user name and event ID:

  • How can I transfer iPhoto files from one admin user to another on the same Mac?

i created a new admin user on my computer, so now my husband has one and so do i. how can i transfer our iphoto files from his admin user to mine as a shared file? i was able to do this with itunes easily but i am not able to do it with iphoto.

You want to share the Library?
For iPhoto 09 (version 8.0.2) and later:
    What you mean by 'share'.
If you want the other user to be able to see the pics, but not add to, change or alter your library, then enable Sharing in your iPhoto (Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running and use Fast User Switching to open the other account. In that account, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. Your Library will appear in the other source pane.
Any user can drag a pic from the Shared Library to their own in the iPhoto Window.
Remember iPhoto must be running in both accounts for this to work.
If you want the other user to have the same access to the library as you: to be able to add, edit, organise, keyword etc.
Quit iPhoto in both accounts. Move the Library to the Users / Shared Folder
(You can also use an external HD set to ignore permissions, a Disk Image or even partition your Hard Disk.)
In each account in turn: Double click on the Library to open it. (You may be asked to repair the Library Permissions.) From that point on, this will be the default library location. Both accounts will have full access to the library, in fact, both accounts will 'own' it.
However, there is a catch with this system and it is a significant one. iPhoto is not a multi-user app., it does not have the code to negotiate two users simultaneously writing to the database, and trying will cause db corruption. So only one user at a time, and back up, back up back up.

  • List used to add permissions to InfoPath form updated, but people removed from the list still getting permissions.

I have a list that gives users Contribute permission to an InfoPath form during a workflow action. This list has changed, and I have added and removed users from it. The people who I've added are getting permissions, but the people I removed are STILL getting
permissions, even though they are nowhere on the list. What could be happening? I would greatly appreciate any help!
    Thank you,
    -Lyssa Prince

I must not be explaining this very well, and I apologize for that.
These are time sheets we're working with, so each user needs a certain set of people to approve and review his/her time sheets. The workflow we have running on each time sheet created reads which department the user is in, matches them with the row that
contains the field "department" that matches their department, and gives permission to all of the users in the remaining fields TS Approvers and TS Reviewers. If I update these fields at all, the new users in these fields get permissions for that department's
time sheets, but the people I removed from these fields do not stop getting permissions. It's as if there is a cached copy of the list which is being used by the workflow to assign permissions. This list will fluctuate, so it is not a viable solution to keep
running powershell scripts to remove people from each of these items after they have been removed from the list.

  • SharePoint 2013 - Server Error in '/' Application - This operation can be performed only on a computer that is joined to a server farm by users who have permissions in SQL Server to read from the configuration database

    Hi
After I ran SharePoint configuration wizard successfully to upgrade to SharePoint 2013 / SP1.
I can open Central Administration site just fine.
but now when I open any Site collection,  I got this error.
    Server Error in '/' Application
This operation can be performed only on a computer that is joined to a server farm by users who have permissions in SQL Server to read from the configuration database. To connect this server to the server farm, use the SharePoint Products Configuration
Wizard, located on the Start menu in Microsoft SharePoint 2010 Products
I have restarted all the servers:  SQL server, WFE and APP servers but still cann't get this resolve.
Services on all servers are running,  IIS - application pools are running.
Can someone help with where that could be a problem or if there is a solution.
Thanks in advance for your comments or advices.
    Swanl

    Please verify the followings:
Make sure that from the SharePoint front end and application servers that you can ping your SQL server.
Make sure that your Farm account has permission to the configuration database.
Lastly verify that your database didn't for some reasons go into recovery mode.
once everything is fine and you are still having issues, restart the SQL host service on the SQL server.
Once the service is restarted you will need to reboot Central Admin and then your front end servers.
In addition, as you built your farm inside the firewall, please disable the firwall, or create rules for SQL Server service in the firwall on SQL server.
More information about creating rules in firewall, please refer to the following posts: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/c5d4d0d0-9a3b-4431-8150-17ccfbc6fb82/can-not-create-data-source-to-an-sql-server http://www.mssqltips.com/sqlservertip/1929/configure-windows-firewall-to-work-with-sql-server/

  • Cannot view the folder security after removed the default "users" group from folder

    Hi guys
Due to the domain change, I am doing a windows 2003 server migration to windows 2012 for a file server.
Tones of data have been copied from the old 2003 server to the new setup 2012 server.
We need remove the "builtin\users" group from the folder security to maintain correct rights access of user to network folder.
Once the "builtin\users" group has been removed, the account in domain admin group can no longer read the folder security.
Has anyone faced the similar situation?
Or, is there any change in folder security rights of Windows 2012?
    Thanks in advance

  • CUA - Sysadmin users (eg PISUPER j2ee_admin) remove from CUA

When our CUA for non-prod was setup ALL users were brought to the managing system.
Basis team didn't realize this and we would now like to correct the authorizations on those users and remove them from CUA.
Tried to research this everywhere and cannot find the precise steps
Example of users in CUA which don't belong there
    PISUPER
    j2ee_admin
Have run S_BCE_68001430 to compare the user / security across to PRE-PRD (which hasn't been touched) and see the differences in the security.
Have read about RSDELCUA to delete child from CUA but that seems drastic
    Realize we need to
    1. disconnect child system(s) from CUA
    2. DELETE the users from CUA who don't belong there (j2ee_admin PISUPER etc. etc.)
    3. Correct the users security (j2ee_admin PISUPER etc. etc.) in the disconnected child systems
    4.  Reconnect CUA & make sure not to bring in the admin users
Can anyone direct me to the documentation to do this?
    Thank you in advance

Profiling in production is a pipedream.
With modern JVMs and processors, hundreds of thousands of methods will be invoked on multi-CPU machines in just one second. Tracking and analyzing this data is beyond the power of the fastest database.
To analyze one hour of data, 360 million methods will have to be handled for a 4 CPU Pentium/Xeon machine.
This is clearly impossible to do in real life, with current hardware. May be 5 to 10 years from now, things will be better- however, by then CPUs will be processing many more methods per second...
I think it is a nice ACADEMIC project!

  • Can't deactivate premiere pro cs6 from admin user...help??

I am a teacher with a number of seats on my premiere license.  We have upgraded machines and I need to deactivate those machines in order to activate the new ones.  Running in to  a dialogue box on a couple that says I need to deactivate as the admin user.  Trouble is I am in as the admin user when it tells me this.  I read to enable root user but this does not solve the problem either.  Adobe needs a place where I can go and enter a serial number and it will allow me to deactivate machines associated with it.  This is maddening.....

    =========
It may have already been uninstalled. Would you like to remove Premiere Pro CS4 and After Effects CS4, 32-bit support for CS5 from the program list?"I click No, because going into my Programs Folder, I see that nothing has been removed
    ===========
This is the part I suggested you click YES...instead of NO... to see if removing the support then allows you to remove the whole program.. kinda a 2 step process...dont know if it will work or not.
You can call adobe support and explain the problem and they might be able to walk you through some process that works okay.. I would try that even though it may take some time to go through it.
I don't see how trying to reinstall could hurt you but I kinda doubt it will work...but why not try it??
Sorry, but I can't think of anything else ... except messing around with the "install / remove " programs stuff as mentioned above...

  • How to transfer stuff from 1 admin user to a newly created admin user

    Hi:
2 weeks ago I bought a beand new Macbook pro 13" non retina display which ran Mountain Lion. What I did was to make 4 partitions to match what is on time machine backps of my previous 2007 Blackbook. So I did a restore and now my new MBP was running Lion. Quickly that was solved when the app store dl'd and installled Mountain Lion.
Seems perfect but all my preferences from the older blackbook seemed to mess up my trackpad. Couldn't do the wonderful scrolling that my iphone 4s does with ease. It behaved like an old mouse with none of the fancy features we've gotten so used to which worked beautifully onn the old Macbook. Well did an ML os reinstall with no results. My bluetooth apple mouse works like the trackpad. I played with the buttone in the 3 screens all to no avail and tried to match them to the setting in guest acct for the trackpad.
Funny thing but when I'm logged into guest and the trackpad works beautifully.
All the OS installs on the 3 partitions 1 Lion and the other 2 ML, the trackpad works beautifully.
Thought that my original admin login user account has been corrupted with old lion and whatever I have before so it may never get back to normal. it was suggested that I create another admin account in a different name which I have done . The logic was that all my files from the original admin user get moved or copied. then when everything works in the new user, just delete the original user and rename it what the old admin user was called. Sounds easy but what happens to the library files in a copy/ move? do they just infect the new user with the same bad prefernces that caused the original problem? That's the easy part. After that things get dicey. Do I just copy all the files from 1 user to another. Do I share all the files in my main (flawed) admin acct?
I thought that maybe my main old admin user acct had too many old preferences so many were deleted up to the week I did the restore. Easy to do and any weird non .plist acct were deleted. Dis this with the apple preferences only.
Any idea how I proceed from going beyong the creation of the new user account.
    Ted

I have discovered the solution and it involves an issue I suspected. After the restore of my old Time Machine Lion files to my new MBP running ML, the restore restored my computer back to Lion. After an install of ML, my computer worked perfectly except the fancy Scroll and zoom featured we all love from the trackpad. Ha already installed ML on other partitions and the trackpad worked perfectly on them.  Even the guest login's trackpad worked perfectly but not the main admin account.
First thought was to create a new admin account and copy everything from the old admin to the new admin and then delete the old admin account. Hated the idea because all files had to be copied rather than moved.
So what was left to do. I had thought of deleting all the apple preferences from the library and replace them with the contents of the library on another partition in ML. First I deleted old preferences many of which were old Lion preferences. That didn't solve the issue.
I forgot that Lion and ML HIDE the user library so I was working on the wrong library. Discovered the Terminal command "chflags nohidden ~/Library" and I chose to reveal the user library on a ML partition.
    Solution:
I booted into another ML partition. I guess that I could have booted into the new admin user account and changed the permissions  to access the old admin users Library But I chose to boot
from another ML partition: copy ALL the com.apple. XXXXX.plist files and the folder  BY Host. It has special hidden files. Other  way is to copy the Preferences folder we'll say into the Desktop.
I then proceeded to delete ALL the com.apple…….plist files and the Host folder into the trash. Then I copied all the apple.com…plist files and the Host folder and then rebooted. And now my wonderful Trackpad works as mountain Lion intended it to work.
I'm leaving this solution because there's someone else in the MacWorld with the same issue.

  • NCS Admin User Group / Permissions

Recently made a migration from WCS to NCS.  Users were carried over from WCS to NCS.  Users in the admin group were able to rename APs in WCS now cannot rename APs in the NCS.  Admin user group has all permissions available for various actions all checked.  Root user can still rename APs...
Any ideas? Or is a TAC case a better option...

Can you please be more specific?
What are the permissions of "/media/dd500" (like "drwxr-xr-x root:root" or something?) What permissions do you change it to? What are the permissions of the files and folders inside that directory (generally speaking)? What are you trying to do (create a directory, edit a file...) that causes you to know that it "does not appear to work"?
Lastly, I see that the partition is formatted as NTFS. Does Linux support writing to NTFS partitions nowadays?
EDIT: By the way, I think all of this would be a lot easier to do from the command line instead of from Thunar.

  • The only user was removed from Administrators Group

    Hi Experts
We are using Office 365 based Project Online and Project Server Security Mode was applied, also the Active Directory sync was switched to 'OFF' for Administrators Group in PWA. There was only one user which was in the Administrators Group and hence was the
lone user to have access to Project Server 'Groups & Categories' section.
Now I do not know how it happened, but the person logged into the PWA Site, went to Administrators Group and removed his name from the Group and clicked on Save.
As soon as it happened the access right were removed from that user also Now no one has the access to 'Server Settings' page as an administrator. Hence all the admin work is stopped.
My concern was is it possible that by any means can we add any user (or the same user) to the Administrator Group?
    Thanks
    Manish

    Hello,
If no user has access to do this then the only option you have via the UI is to switch permission modes (to the SharePoint permission mode then back to the Project Server permission mode - this add the Company Administrators (global admins) the Admin group).
Do bear in mind this will remove all of the users from the security groups and reset ALL security so probably not an ideal option. The only other option is to open a support query via your Office 365 tenant and see what Microsoft suggest..
