Adobe Air Apps for OS X: Unable to build a valid certificate chain for the signer. // Code Signing on OS X 10.10 Yosemite

Hi,
I created several OS X Apps using Adobe Air. That worked quite well before. Now I have do update my OS X Apps - therefore I also needed update my certificates. [ I'm using Flash CC 2014 on OS X Yosemite 10.10 ]. But whatever I do it doesn’t work anymore. I always get this Message saying:
Unable to build a valid certificate chain for the signer.
I googled a lot and the only "guide" I found is this post (from April 2013) about code singing - http://scottgaertner.com/code_signing/
I’m not used to deal with this kind of stuff (CA etc.) - so it's quite confusing to me.
Would anybody please be so kind and tell me what I have to do?
Is there any instruction from Adobe? (I didn't find one yet)
A step by step instruction for absolute dummies would be great!

I installed the Flash CC 2014 update and added some Certificates from Apple to my Keychain. Now EVERYTHING works fine again!! :-)

The error you are seeing is typically caused by exporting a cert without the trust chain. On Windows, in IE, you can manage your keystore by going to
Internet Options > Content > Certificates
When you export the certificate needed for signing your app, be sure to check “Include all certificates in the certificate path, if possible”.

Code signing cert error using Digicert - Unable to build a valid certificate chain for the signer

Steps to fix this error on code signing adobe air using .p12 cert from Digicert - Unable to build a valid certificate chain for the signer
a. Open Firefox and browse to https://www.digicert.com/digicert-root-certificates.htm
b. On the middle of the page, download -
DigiCert Assured ID Code Signing CA-1
Valid until: 10/Feb/2026
Serial #: 07:F4:73:6F:AF:EF:40:8A:1F:66:40:F2:65:D1:0A:C1
Thumbprint: B170A10819BEA936905D719E643399783E1F4567
Download
c. Install the cert in Firefox
d. Once done, export again the code signing cert from digicert, through (click Firefox -> Preferences -> View Certificates -> HIghlight the digicert code signing cert -> click Backup)
e. Done, the newly exported file should now have the valid certificate chain and that should fix the error "Unable to build a valid certificate chain for the signer"
Even though this is from Digicert, this should also work for other Certificate Authority providers assuming you download your provider's root cert for code signing.

Unable to build a valid certificate chain for the signer

Updating an AIR application after a few years and needed a new signing certificate which I purchased from Comodo. Imported it successfully into Keychain Access and exported it as a pfx file. When I identified this certificate to Flash Builder it went all the way through the build process and then came up with the error "Unable to build a valid certificate chain for the signer".
I can see there was a discussion on this matter in October 2011 but this did not seem to answer my question as that guy was trying to use an Apple Dev Centre key rather than paying for one like I did.

In Keychain Access, command-click your Class 2/3 certificate, the CA's intermediate certificate, and the CA's root certificate before hitting export.

I am trying to sign my AIR application using the Code Signing Certificate I got from Apple (iPhone Dev). I have Apple's Root Certificate and my certificate. I installed both and then exported my certificate as pkcs12 (.p12 file) using many methods like Windows Certificate Manager and Firefox. I also used Keychain Access on my Mac. However, when I try to sign, I get the following error:
Unable to build a valid certificate chain for the signer.

Ok, I am making progress here.
I signed on to a fresh mac with an empty keychain. I imported AppleWWDRCA and then developer_identity. Now it shows that the certificate is valid. Now I deleted the certificate and I imported cert.p12 file that I had made. Now the certificate re-appeared in keychain along with a private key. I had to put a password set by me earlier when I made the p12 file.
The certificate is displayed under my private key. So it means that the p12 file has the private key and the certificate.
Now the only thing is that AIR gives me the error stating that it cannot build a certificate chain, which means there's no Root CA in the p12 file, or WWDRCA for that matter. From what I understand, these 2 certs need to be put inside the p12 file.
On second note, Apple also provides a distribution cert besides the developer cert. But when I try to export the distribution cert, it asks for a password that I don't know (not got one for that). But I still think that I need to use the developer cert. nd not the distribution cert. by Apple.
The question again boils down to putting the Apple Root CA inside the p12 in order for AIR SDK to build the chain.

Admin Rights for Adobe AIR apps

Which Admin rights are needed on a system to install a .AIR file on a system? In our Enterprise scenario users do not have Admin rights on the system. And whenever user tries installing an AIR app an error is thrown for the same. I want to know what are the least (Admin) rights that we need to give to a user on a WindowsXP system so that he can install air apps?

Unfortunately, there isn't a simple answer to this question because AIR isn't in complete comtrol over the full set of files and registry keys touched during an install - we rely on Windows Installer for that. However you can find additional information about this at:

Adobe Air app for surface

I have been told there is a free adobe Air app for my surface but I can't find the app and need it on my surface for my companys program, can I get a link or direction on how to find this app?

License Keys for Adobe Air Apps

Many software applications require the end user to input a valid license key before proceeding with the installation. I have yet to come across an Adobe AIR application that employs this mechanism.
The question is how can i integrate such a mechanism into an adobe air app?

Two options:
a) Build a licensing verification scheme yourself
b) Use a 3rd party tool, such as NitroLM or Sharify or Shibuya

Error message when downloading adobe air app.

I have according to the installation program successfully installed adobe air. I am now trying to download an adobe air app from Jacqui Lawson and keep getting the following message.
"Sorry an error has occurred. The application could not be installed. Try installing it again. If the problem persists, contact the application author."
I have read other comments regarding this matter and tried everything suggested so far. I am still having the same issue.
I am running windows vista 32 bit. All firewall and anti virus are off, UAC is enabled, I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program and I have tried using a different browser. Can anyone suggest anything else to try.

Many of us have encounted this issue. The problem is not confined to a particular version or computer operating. Many homemade remedies and scientific ones have worked for some and not others. The most recent fix was offered by an ID by the name of Maud Barbara and seems to have been the answer for that user and at least one more.

Will Adobe AIR apps work on iOS (Javascript/HTML)?

I haven't been able to find any definitive answer on whether Adobe AIR apps using Javascript and HTML can work on iOS.
Anyone know for sure?
And if so, what happens with the APIs available through these swfs that we currently include:

The answer is no. Apps developed for AIR using HTML and JavaScript are not supported on iOS or other mobile platforms. The mobile platforms do include a StageWebView component that can be used to load and display HTML and JavaScript. However, it is entirely different than the HTMLLoader control used on the desktop platforms (for HTML-based AIR apps). You cannot, for example, call any AIR/Flash APIs from JavaScript running in a StageWebView. In general, very little communication is possible between your ActionScript application code and the JavaScript code running in the StageWebView object.

Adobe AIR Apps + Safari = Very slow

Hi everybody,
I'm experiencing a strange behaviour of my Adobe AIR Apps on iPad. I've tested several Apps now (one GPU-Heavy Game, one CPU-Blitting App, one pretty standard Puzzle) and all of them do have the same issue - as soon as Safari is running in the background it sometimes (not always.. and most likely on iPad1) slows my App down to 1fps. Until I close Safari again. I haven't ever seen any other App doing so, thus I believe it's an Adobe AIR bug. Maybe only on iPad though.
Does anyone know why this happens or if I can get around of that? Besides my Apps run superfast.
What I've tested so far is:
- My memory usage is ~4mb. Doesn't seem to bother him if it's more or not
- My GPU-Cache is held quite low (but even with empty GPU Cache this issue appears)
- I'm using an Enter-Frame in all my apps which simulates the rendertick. Maybe this may be the fault?!

- if the iPad was restarted you can have opened any iOS system-app without slowing down the Adobe AIR app
- nevertheless after some hours this bug occurs again.
Our game is in stores now: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/ifunnel-frenzy-hd/id457822239?mt=8 and many people send us bugreports because of it. As soon as I'm telling them to close iOS system-apps things work superfine again.
You can download and test this bug for yourself - I think this might be pretty self-explaining then.

Adobe air apps cannot be installed

Hi,
I have trouble with my PC to install any kind of adobe air app. When I start to install a Adobe air app, I get the UAC request and I confirm it but then the Adobe Air Application Installer.exe *32 is hanging and doing nothing.
When I repeat the process another Adobe Air Application Installer.exe *32 instance is started.
Here is my equipment and what I tried:
Equipment:
Windows 7 professional SP1 64 -Bit
- Reinstalling Adobe air with Revo Uninstaller(cleaning registry) and installing it new with Admin rights.
- Installing Adobe air in Windows XP Sp3 mode
- Multiple apps were tried and when I start them with the SDK, they are working fine.
- No information are available in the windows eventlogs
Any idea how to solve it or any possibility to start a debug tool to get more information?

Sadly the Microsoft Install and Uninstall Fix It tool does not work, adobe air is still hanging during the app installation.
This is what I have done:
1. Uninstall Adobe air with the Microsoft Tool
2. Install Adobe air new
3. Try to install the app SmartClient.air -> Did not work
4. Try to install the app DesktopiPhone.air -> Did not work
Now I have 4 Adobe air instance in the task manager(see screenshot)

Displaying fb Friends in Adobe AIR app

First off, I realize I'm completely in over my head here.
I am a designer... not a programmer. Sure, I've set up some "quizzes" on facebook... but nothing like what I'm trying to do here. So, I'm hoping to get some quick and simple help from someone here.
Anyway... here's my problem...
I've made a fun little Adobe AIR app using Flash CS4. When ran it makes your computer screen look like you're logging into the Umbrella Corporation from the Resident Evil franchise. It has company data, surveillance cameras and other stuff. It's totally for fun and doesn't "do" anything. Just wanted to make an AIR app late one night and this is what I did.
Now, however, I would like to make it so that you can login to your facebook account and then view a "database of Umbrella Employees"... which... in reality... would simply be a list of your facebook friends with pictures! The descriptions of what they "do" could be randomly generated from a file or something... or it could be grabbed from some posts they've made or something. But the friend pictures and names are really what I'm wanting to show.
I have looked and looked all over for a simple "downloadable" example of this. I've found some things, but everything is like reading an encyclopedia... and, like I said, I'm simply not that smart.
Does anyone have a Flash CS4 .fla file that you could share with me to show me how to do this?
I'm serious when I say I can't figure much out... so please include all library files and anything else I need to know (like upload this to your server here) and stuff.
If you help, and I "release" this (obviously I can't make money on it) I'll put an Easter egg in for you with your profile or picture or whatever you like!
