Adobe and Library Books!

I sometimes check out books from the library from my home computer and sometimes from my laptop. If I checked it out on my home computer, but am on my laptop with the Nook plugged in, I can’t return them. Seems I can only return books from the original computer used to check out. Before I updated the Adobe Digitial Editions, I did not have a problem with this. Is it possible to return from a different computer via my Nook? Shouldn’t the Digital Editions sync up between computers?

Adobe Reader can't open this type of files. Open the file in Adobe Digital Editions.

  • Installing Adobe for Nook and Library Books

I was attempting to install Adobe Digital Edition to download books from my library to my Nook Simple Touch.  I made an error and authorized without registering with an Adobe ID.  I have now acquired an Adobe ID.  I can get the library book to my computer, but it is not available to transfer to my Nook.  How do I fix this?
    Thanks

  • Ipad and library books

After two hours last night trying to get the protected book to my ipad to read I am so very grateful to find the app Blue Reader.  WOW!  It was so easy.  I am an idiot with computers but their step by step help section for transferring library books was a synch. just download the app.  go to the help section and you will see the section on how to transfer.  Good luck

Sorry  It is Blue Fire Reader.
Seriously thought that Adobe would have been on top of it already and worked in the ipad/itouch to the program.

  • Kobo and library books

Now that I've downloaded a book from the library, How do I get it
on to the Kobo?  It's really frustrating.

There's a couple of pieces of this picture I'm not getting, so let me give
you an answer that starts with the basics.
The Kobo ereader - actually any ereader - has to be recognized by ADE as an
authorized device.  If you follow a certain sequence, this takes place
automagically, because everything is aligned.  First, the Kobo ereader has
to be 'activated' by registering it with Kobo.  That means you have to set
up an account with the Kobo store/website, and then link the ereader to the
website.  When you do this, the Kobo store will embed your Kobo ID in the
Kobo ereader.  Then, turn on your computer and plug in your ereader to a USB
port.  Assuming that your computer is a Windows machine, the computer will
recognize the Kobo ereader as a new device - usually a hard drive.  Once
Windows reports that your new hardware is ready to use, you can start up
ADE.  ADE 'should' recognize that your Kobo ereader is attached, and
register it in the left hand panel of its Library view.  Once this is done,
you can drag and drop books from ADE onto your ereader.
    Hope this helps!

  • Blackberry Playbook and library books

I cannot get the Digital Editions loaded on my PC to "see" my Playbook when it is attached so that I can download books from the library (it dos now show on the Bookshelf). PC says it is authorized.
    Thank you, Cherry

No, the Blackberry is not a supported device under ADE.   Your choice of
the term 'not native' could mean that the Blackberry is supported some
other way by ADE, which is not true.  Thus, there is no way to connect the
    Blackberry to ADE directly.
ADE does provide both library management and support for DRM-enabled
epublications.  As you point out, so do other software systems.  And
because there are other software systems that do support DRM-enabled
publications, plus other systems interface with your Blackberry, perhaps
you should look at those systems to use instead of ADE.
Yes, KOBO's desktop support for epublications is independent of, and cannot
    run with, ADE.
So, if you have alternatives, why are you asking how to interface ADE with
    the KOBO desktop?

Welcome to the Club! Got the same Problem and had a really hard time reaching the Customer Support because they were down due to maitenance! Just wrote to their experts chat and hope to get an answer in this life!
I tried to authorize my Computer and eBookreader with a new Adobe-ID, but it says I've done used this ID too often, even though it was brandnew! Can't copy my just-purchased eBook because "Copying is not allowed".
I hold my thumbs for you that Adobe solves this Problem fast enough. Other ways I'll sell my eBookreader and buy the Kindle-Reader from Amazon and say GOOD BYE to Adobe!

  • Adobe digital and public library books

I am unable to transfer public library books from the Adobe Digital, to my Nook HD Tablet.  I am using version 2.0 for the first time. I used to have an older version, and I did not have any trouble transferring books to my e-reader.  Also, my Nook used to show up in the left-side panel, and all I had to do with the book was drag and drop - that feature seems not to be present.  I need help.
    Thank you.

Tablets behave differently from dedicated eBook readers.
You need to install the Bluefire or Aldiko app for general Adobe DRM eBook reading (including Overdrive library books).
Then, copy books in .epub format from the PC to the tablet using a file manager such as Windows Explorer or Finder.
Alternatively, download the Overdrive app, for borrowing, downloading and reading library books without needing to use a PC or ADE at all.

  • Two questions: Why is it made so difficult to simply download a library book and read it? More immediately important, I have DeepShadow 9781101181188 on my computer and cannot get Adobe Digital Editions to recognize or allow me to read it.

  • How do I open a library book on a recently acquired Samsung Nook?  I get "too many activations" error. I have an active adobe digital editions and my other devices work fine.  Custumer Support was unable to get the new device activated.

I have a library book on the bookshelf of a newly acquired Samsung Nook but I cannot open it.  My other devices work fine but I cannot activate the new unit.  I get a "too many activations" error message.  Customer Services say I have a valid license but they deemed my problem to be a technical issue and referred me to the forum.  Thanks

Step 1 - by trial and error...
So far, I have been able to create physical files containing MP3 and JPG on the NAS using the Windows XP systems to copy from shared locations on the Vista and Win7 boxes.  This process has been aided by the use of a 600 GB SATA 2 capable hard drive enclosure.  I first attach to Win 7 or Win Vista and reboot to see the local drive spaces formatted on the portable device.  Then I copy files from the user's private directories to the public drive space.  When the portable drive is wired to an XP box, I can use Windows to move the files from the portable device to the NAS without any of the more advanced file attributes being copied to the NAS.  Once the files are on the NAS, I can add the new folder(s) to iTunes on any of the computers and voila, the data becomes sharable via iTunes.  So far, this works for anything that I have completely purchased, or for MP3's I made from the AIC files created when I purchased alblums via iTunes.
I have three huge boxes full of vynl records I've accumulated.  The ones that I've successfully digitized via a turntable attached to the sound card on one of my computers and third party software, have found their way to the NAS after being imported into iTunes and using it to bring down available album art work.  In general I've been reasonably well pleased with the sound quality of digital MP3 files created this way, but the software I've been using sometimes has serious problems automatically separating individual songs from the album tracks and re-converting "one at a time" isn't very efficient.
