Moins de 6 mois après l'achat de mon PowerBook, il est survenu un défaut dans le panneau qui entoure le clavier, juste au dessous de la touche option/pomme du clavier. La peinture s'est écaillée.

Sous garantie, j'ai donc demandé à AppleCare de changer la pièce défectueuse.
Ils ont refusé en siginifiant que les aspects esthétiques n'étaient pas considérés dans la garantie.
Hors, il n'existe à ce jour, aucune mention signifiant cette exclusion de garantie dans les clauses APPLE.
J'ai dû donc écrire une lettre très officielle à Apple les conjurant de changer la pièce sous garantie.
J'attends la réponse...

Less than 6 months after the purchase of my PowerBook, it arose a defect into the trap which surrounds the keyboard, just below the touch option / apple of the keyboard. The painting flaked.

Under guarantee, I thus asked AppleCare to change the defective piece.
They refused and said to me that the aesthetic aspects were not considered in the guarantee.
Except, it doesn't exist no mention meaning this exclusion from APPLE guarantee.
I thus had to write a very official letter to Apple begging them to change the piece under guarantee.
I wait for the answer...

This is a user to user forum. Apple's warranty is something I suggest reading it over, and if you think you still need service, and aren't getting it, to speak to an Apple Center near you, or Apple Customer Relations at the AppleCare phone number.
I've never noticed any paint per se on the Aluminum Powerbooks. It has always behaved like anodized aluminum which has no paint to peel in the first place. It would seem strange if it is anodized aluminum for anything to oxydize in the first place.

Here's my situation:
In the past four months, my Powerbook has been posessed by the devil. Not that it hadn't been before..::wipes brow::. New combo drive, new display, new keyboard keys, new logicboard, new..something else that I know I repaired, but don't have the receipt in front of me. Then it works fine for a week. Then on the 17th of May, my hard drive fails. So Apple will replace the combo drive, logicboard, AND hard drive? The geniuses say it will take care of everything and prevent further issues, which is great now that my warranty expired on the 18th. (phew!) The question that I pose is, has anyone else been having similar problems and has this solution been a good fix?
They informed me this morning that the logicboard from Apple will be arriving in ten days, so I have plenty of time to discuss the repair. By the way, today is the 27th, they've had my computer since the 17th and I'm waiting 10 more days. Is this normal for working through Geniuses? I've always gone to MacAuthority, an authorized repair center and I get it back in 5. Hmm.

In this kind of history, I was able to noticed in my career in computing two big causes:
First one, rational, the one that everybody likes thinking, the defective material or the product not succeeds (as we see it more often on PC ;-))
Second, less rational, rare but very alive cases: persons possess a very strong magnetism that no computer resists... These persons exist and I met it. Indeed on, we do not want to believe in it... But due to noticing certain very real facts and with no sens, we are obliged well to believe in it...
Ex: Mac is Uptime for more than 60 days, its process is common and no shady software (kind Powerpoint or Word) works above. A person possessing a very strong magnetism enters in the room and then the computer bugs and the only appeal is a forced reboot... We made all the vérificatiion after...No explication...
I knew similar cases in your, who due to using their new computers, they had to put it in the dustbin ...
The solution... Make verify your magnetism and if it is the case, for controling this magnetism and limiting the damages in the future...
Have you the same difficult with others systems ? (TV, Cell Phone, Video Recording, etc.)

I'm having the same problem, and I really don't see how this doesn't fall under the "workmanship" clause of the warranty. I for one am really dumbfounded that even after the TiBook fiasco Apple still uses paint at all, which can never be permanent by its very nature. What's so different about this strip of metal that it can't be aluminum anyway?
Any news here? I for one am also going to try and get this fixed by Apple, for free. Ridiculous. Factory cosmetic defect fully within the warranty. You should not be able to damage your computer by wiping it with your finger, as I did.

Everything works beautifully on the iPad through Preview, and validates through iTunes Producer up until the attempted upload. Today I received the same error that you all have been discussing. I tried selecting the DRM
and this did not work for me, though I'm glad it did for some. Here's what I did as a work-around. . .
Since iBooks Author did not have a problem with Videos, I simply used one of my video programs, ScreenFlow to turn the audio into a video file m4v. I added an image and extended the length or timing of the image to span the length of the audio file. Then exported as an .mov. I then opened QuickTime and opened the file and exported the file to iTunes.
You can use iMovie, Camtasia or any other progam that will allow you to export the audio as a movie file. Does this make sense? I hope this helps, at least in the short-term.

Has anyone been able to internet share when the internet source is a verizon USB modem?

I'm on a macbook 3,1 running OSX 10.6.8
internet is coming from a verizon USB modem/dongle model UMW190.
I have gone through the steps for internet sharing - created a network, etc.
My other devices (a roku box and an ipad) are able to see the wifi network i created. prompts for a password, and i'm able to connect with great signal strength, but no internet!
Tried every problem solving suggestion i could find on the messageboards.
No firewill. Changed the IP address. restarted, etc etc.
nothing can seem to get my internet working on the other devices.
If i leave it to automatic, the IP address i get starts with 169. and a message reads
"AirPort has the self-assigned IP address 169.254.156.212 and will not be able to connect to the Internet."
Could this be because the internet is coming from a USB dongle? Is my computer too old?
Has anyone been able to get their internet sharing working using a verizon USB dongle?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Update: For the heck of it, i tried connecting using my ipod touch - and it works! able to connect to the network and get on the internet.
(that was after i changed the IP from automatic 169 to the IP address of the USB modem.)
The ipad still won't connect (i'm told it may be due to a WEP non-compatibility)
and i'm not sure what's up with the Roku...
but it does work on one device.

See if the Disk is issuing any S.M.A.R.T errors in Disk Utility...

Open Activity Monitor in Applications>Utilities, select All Processes & sort on CPU%, any indications there?
How much RAM & free space do you have also, click on the Memory & Disk Usage Tabs.
Open Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens.
In the Memory tab, are there a lot of Pageouts?

Try this:
Go to System Preferences - Bluetooth. Delete the keyboard from the list of devices by pressing the "-" button. Take the batteries out of the keyboard and reinsert them. In Bluetooth Preferences press the '+" button to add the new device. If the keyboard begins to pair, click the word "pair" and type in the passcode. Press return. The keyboard is now paired.
If the mouse is not pairing, try this: shut down the computer completely, unplug any USB mice, then turn off the power to the bluetooth mouse. ONce the computer starts up again, wait for the pop-up looking for a mouse. Turn on the power to the bluetooth mouse. It should work normally now.

You can do what you want, but you must erase your phone to do it. Just restore the phone using iTunes and set it up as a New phone. As it is new you can install whatever content you want to, then make an unencrypted backup of it.
The reason you can't change your mind once you have an encrypted backup is to protect your private data. If it was possible to uncheck Encrypt Backup, then back up your phone, anyone who stole or found your phone could do this and thus have access to your private data from the new backup.

Myself and a few others seem to be having some problems using the ApplicationLoader to upload .ipa files that have been created in CS5. In my case I'm trying to patch a game that was built months ago and uploaded via the iTunesConnect websit (no longer an option)
Has anyone been able to successfully get anything submitted to the Apple store in the last few days?
If you follow this thread http://forums.adobe.com/message/3129598#3129598 , you'll see the dramas we're having. Through a bit of tinkering, we can get the file read, but it brings up an "invalid certificate" message.
Adobe, is this something you guys are testing at the moment?

Matthew, thanks for your help. You hit the nail on the head.
Going through the whole certificate process again was required. That is, revoking the old certificates, generating a new CSR file, submitting it and then creating a new .p12 file.
Did this all through Windows using iBrent's tutorials. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4GteMgFvA1Y&feature=related quite helpful.

Upgrading a SharePoint Server 2010 Search Service Application dB to our SharePoint 2013 SP 1 development environment, using the Management Shell
Running the following commands:
$applicationPool= Get-SPServiceApplicationPool -Identity 'SearchService_AppPool'

Unable to load the tables in the Power Pivot Window – An Item with the Same Key has already been added

Hi there,
I recently had the following situation, where I changed the source of my CSV file in Power Query.
Once I had reloaded the file, it would then not load into Power Pivot. So I disabled the loading from Power Query into Power Pivot. I then enabled the loading to the Data Model. Which then successfully loaded the data into Power Pivot.
But once I went into Power Pivot, had a look, then saved the Excel file. Once saved I closed the Excel file. I then opened the Excel file again and all the sheets that interact with the Power Pivot data work fine.
But if I go and open Power Pivot I get the following error: Unable to load the tables in the Power Pivot Window – An Item with the Same Key has already been added.
This is what I get from the Call Stack

I would assume that the issue is with the synonyms and for some reason, when I disabled the loading of my data into the Power Pivot Model, it did not remove the associations to the actual table and synonyms.
If I renamed the table in Power Pivot it all works fine. So that was my work around. Fortunately I did have a copy of the Excel workbook before I made this change. So I could then go and add back in all the relevant data to my table.
Has anyone had this before and know how to fix it?

Has anyone been able to link all their contacts with their Facebook info?

I just got my first iPhone and am seeing an issue: not all Facebook contacts are being synced; specifically, only 27 out of 254. I’ve been reading posts about this here, and it appears a good number of people are seeing this same problem, including a friend of mine with a 5S running iOS 7. It appears people are under the impression this is due to a change Facebook made, and that only contacts with specific info showing on their profiles will now be synced. I’ve done some testing, and it does at least appear that only Facebook contacts showing an email address on their timeline - other than their @facebook.com address – are synced to my iPhone. Thing is, Facebook contact sync works effortlessly and perfectly for all contacts both on my Windows Phone and on another friend’s old Android phone. It therefore appears this is either an Apple or an Apple combined with Facebook issue, and not a general issue with access to Facebook contact info. I’m primarily interested in fixing this so that each of my contacts show their Facebook profile photo (which also worked effortlessly and perfectly on my Windows Phone).
I’ve tried various potential solutions like adding Facebook emails to contacts, but nothing has worked so far. Has anyone been able to get this to work? If not, and this is a universal problem with iOS 7+ and Facebook, I’m surprised more people aren’t up in arms and reporting it to Apple and Facebook as something they’d like to see fixed?

I had no issues activating my iPhone 4s. I just hooked it up to my computer and it did the rest. It was pretty easy and this was my first iPhone, I had the Motorola Droid 1 before that.
Although I was experiencing problems with calls going straight to Voicemail, even though I wasn't on the internet or doing anything on the phone, so I just got off the phone with Verizon and they had me punch in numbers to reprogram the phone and that seems to have done the trick (i hope).
I don't know if the above issue happened during the initial activation or if it was just a separate fluke, but there you go. You shouldn't experience any difficulties in setting up the phones.

I should add that I got my phone in NOV and so I'm not sure if something changed in the activation process that made it faulty. I'm just reading the thread about people having issues activating the phone over the holidays.
