  • Definition of Terms on Adobe Learning Dashboard

What is the difference between a learner status of "In Progress" and "Incomplete?"
What causes a learner to be defined as "Needs Intervention?"
In my experience/test run, a learner who is in the process of taking the course (actively has it loaded and is going through) is concurrently defined as "Incomplete" and "Needs Intervention" which seems odd to me, since that learner just launched the course and is in the process of taking it.
    Thanks for any insights!

    These are 2 different aspects,
learner status as "In Progress" and "Incomplete" is shown module wise
and "In Progress" and "Needs Intervention" is shown as per status of full course
Please find the details of both below:
Following is difference between "In Progress" and "Incomplete": (in reference with Students ->Group Graph)
    - If the user takes the module before Delay date and has not completed it yet - User will fall in "In Progress" group
    - If the learner visits module after delay date and the module does not complete the module he will fall in "Incomplete" group
    - If learner never visits the module after delay date he will remain in "In Progress" group
Need Inetrvention criteria is set while creating the course by switching on/off the options of "Low Participation" "Quiz Fail" and "Incomplete"
Following is difference between "In Progress" and "Needs Intervention": (in reference with Overview -> Student Progress Graph)
    - All students who have not completed the course before Needs Intervention date are in "In Progress" group
    - All students who did not complete atleast one module before Needs Intervention date but visits any module of the course after Needs Intervention date are moved to "Needs Intervention" group
    - All students who did not complete atleast one module before Needs Intervention date and does not visit any module of the course after Needs Intervention date remain in "In Progress" group
I hope this answer clears the query!

  • Slide Views Measurement/Analytics in Adobe Learning Dashboard

There is a metric to track completion by percentage of slide views, but I can't seem to find the straight metric "# of slides viewed." Is there a setting that I am missing, either in the dashboard or in my project to enable this reporting?
    Thanks,
    Michelle

    Hi Michelle,
    There is some data inconsistency.
First time you created the module was taken by first learner(Michelle Iracane), there was no quiz.
Next time for other learners the module had quiz.
    Our recommendation :
Each time you change some content in your presentation, please re-register the module.
I have sent a video on how to re-register a module on your registered AdobeID
As of now steps you can do to get proper details:
    1) Re-register the module
    2) Publish it
    3) Let few learners take the module
    4) Create a course from course settings in learning dashboard
    5) View the results.
If you encounter any further issues, you can use "Contact us" feature in Learning Dashboard.
    Thanks,
    Krupesh

  • Using Captivate with the Active Learner (RDC) LMS

    Hi
I am using Captivate 3 with the Active Learner LMS (supplied
    by RDC).
I have enabled reporting for the project and chosen AICC for
the LMS option (there are quite a few quiz pages throughout the
    project).
When the module is run via Active Learner, pop-up windows
start appearing and it asks the question 'Do you want to open or
    save the file LOAICCCommunicator.asp'?
    Also, this error message appears?
    ‘error=3 error_text=Invalid Session version=3.5
    aicc_data=’
Has anyone had a similar experience with Active Learner or
    other LMS?
    Thanks in advance.
    Happy New Year!
    Kind Regards
    John

I can't find any information on this LMS. Even RDC's site
    seems to not
    mention it:
    http://www.resources4learning.com
Is it still supported? Maybe time to move on to a new LMS!
The file it's asking about has an .asp extension. Is the LMS
    running on
a web server that can handle ASP pages (i.e. IIS properly
    setup)? If the
webserver can't process ASP pages, then I could see why the
    LMS is
asking what you want to do with the file...
Here's a post on the AICC site that has some relation, at
    least as far
as AICC problems go - perhaps there's something there that
    will help
    http://aicc.org/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1213182711/0
Here's another post with a somewhat similar issue - no
    resolution or
replies, but something to back up what you're seeing,
    perhaps...

Then there's this older thread, which you likely know about

  • Issue with Captivate 8 and SumTotal Learning Maestro LMS -

I get blank screen when launching course published as SCORM 2004 using Captivate 8.  All publish settings are the same as used with Captivate 7 and all course properties and settings are the same in the LMS as courses published using Captivate 7. When course launches, instead of the opening screen from the course, a blank frame appears showing the course playbar and the LMS navigation bar. Opening screen does not appear until the play button on the playbar is clicked. Any idea why this is happening?  Below is a screenshot of the blank frame.

Adding additional information about this problem.  This appears to be related to issues between Chrome and the Captivate 8 course, but I am not certain exactly why.  Today I redid the Captivate 8 file, using a working Captivate 7 file.  I published the course using Captivate as a SCORM 2004 course.  I tested the course in the SCORM Cloud and it opened correctly to the Opening screen of the course.
Next I uploaded the course to Maestro using IE11 as my browser. The course opened properly when I previewed it from course record.  NO blank screen.
I then went into Maestro using Chrome 36 as my browser ( which is what I routinely use) and created another course -- uploaded the same file for this course. The blank screen with the playbar appeared when I previewed the course from the course record.
Still in the LMS with Chrome as the browser, I then went to the course that I had uploaded using IE11 as the browser -- got the blank screen again.  Does this confirm that the issue is related to Chrome 36 breaking all Captivate HTML5 content?

  • Captivate 7 working a Learning Management System

    Hello Captivate community,
I seem to be having an issue with my Captivate 7 module that I have created and been loaded into our LMS tool. To keep things brief, the following seems to happen.
    1) I have included a PDF widget so that the user can print off all the information entered in the module (this works great), but if for any reason the user exits the course and go back into it, the information saved does not seem to appear and the PDF button won't print at the end...is it an indicator I have not selected? Am I doing something wrong?
    2) How do I have the User Text entered throughout the module saved on the screen so that if the user goes back and forth, they don't need to re-enter the information?
I'm currently using Captivate 7, and it has caused many hours of grief trying to figure these things out!

Your first issue is most likely due to the fact that your learners are re-entering the course at a bookmarked slide location rather than starting back right at the beginning of the project with the first slide.  You may need to look at the design of your project to determine what the effect would be if someone entered the course this way rather than from the beginning.  Captivate by default does not saving user variables outside the course when the user exits.  Some LMS may store the value of user variables for you, but not all do.  So this is an area you will need to investigate with your LMS vendor.  If the user variables are not being saved, there is likely nothing for the PDF widget to print.
Text Entry Boxes have associated variables that store the text typed into the box.  You can display this variable text in text captions or shapes.  But when you enter a slide containing a text entry box, it's value is re-initialised, regardless of the value currently stored in its associated variable.  This is currently a limitation that Captivate developers have to live with.

I couldn't begin to guess what's possible natively, but since
    Captivate 4

  • Quiz, Retake quiz,

    Hi all!
My course has several practice ungraded questions, a real test (9 graded questions), and an "after course" reportable survey (8 questions). I want students to be able to retake the quiz once.  The Quiz Results slide now automatically appears after the survey. I want to show quiz results and put the retake quiz button on a custom quiz results slide after the test but before the survey so students don't go thru the survey before they see how they did.  I want students to get the opportunity to retake the quiz just after having taken it - and not after having taken the survey. And I don't want survey question info to show up on the "real" quiz results slide - makes no sense to the students.  I also want to report student success in terms of percentage completed on the test - not just in points scored.
Please help. How do I do this? I'm in Captivate 8.

Survey questions normally will not show up in the score result, since there is no score. However some quizzing system variables do take into account all scored objects (number of questions is one example) which is annoying.
You can create a custom score slide. Have a look at: Intermediate Score Slides - Captivate blog
That post has a different goal, but you'll see several custom score slides.
I don't know which version you are using? The Quizzing system variables are described in these posts:
    http://blog.lilybiri.com/system-variables-in-captivate-6
New features in Captivate 7.01 - Captivate blog
The last one has some details on new variables in 7.0.1. I didn't post the updated list for 8 yet... maybe after Adobe Learning Summit.

  • Is this the best Adobe e-Learning can do?

Please hold as we route your chat to an Adobe Representative.
Welcome to Adobe.com! My name is Carol. May I assist you with your selection today?
Carol: Hi, How are you doing today?
Ann: At this point a little on the cranky side.
Ann: I would like to place a complaint
    Ann: several
    Ann: are you still here?
Carol: Ann, I'm sorry to hear that, since I'm online with you let me help you with any information you need.
Carol: Also I'm sorry for the delay.
Carol: Please go ahead, how can I assist you?
Ann: I was told by one of your people +36204 that you might not be able to assist, but I will run it by you anyway. The angering part is that she didn't follow-up with an email as promised, and then I had to wait 53 minutes and I got the same person, and then she hung-up on me, and now we are here ... the problem OTHERWISE is ...
Carol: Ann, was it on call or was it on chat?
Ann: I purchased an Adobe Captivate about one month ago, because it was the best I could do in that I wanted REALLY the Adobe e-learning 6 suite, but I was told by customer service they had no idea when it was coming out. Because there was no time limit ... I took the adobe captivate by itself for about $300 and then the next few days later the new product came out ... I want the new e-learning but I think I should have $300 off because I'm duplicating the Captivate ... AND the woman - she was a call then stated that there was student pricing for e-learning and that it was $599 ... I did a LOT of research and KNEW it wasn't a student price. She asked for proof ... I know have that proof
Ann: I'm on disabilty ... I'm trying to work my way up in school. And, I don't have enough money to support a terrible program if you are not able to work with me. THIS is why I want to register a formal complaint
Carol: Ann, I'm sorry for the inconvenience caused to you.
    Ann: are you still responding
Carol: I'm here, checking an option with my supervisor.
    Ann: thank you
Carol: Ann, thank you for staying online.
Ann: I waited last time on phone for 53 minutes to be hung-up on ... I can wait a little longer
Carol: I understand your concern. I checked and see that you can register a formal complaint in the forum where all issue are discussed with us.
Carol: I'll provide you a link where you can login and  check the details.
    Carol: Please click here.
Ann: This then seems like the process for reporting a problem. Fine I will use the resource, what about the problem of overpaying for a duplicate program?
Carol: Ann, I request you to check with our customer service team at 1-800-833-6687 from Monday to Friday 5:00 am to 7:00 pm PST.
Carol: They'll check and help you with necessary information on that.
Ann: THAT is the ONE who GAVE me the OTHER problem!
Carol: I'm sorry to hear that.
Ann: I know if I call that number and ask for that option I will get hung-up on like the last time ... I have no guarantee it will happen any differently or the same person wouldn't pick-up and connect me to the right people
Ann: If you are sales, why can't you help me with a sales querie?
Carol: Ann, I'm from online sales  chat support team and I do not have an access to your previous purchase nor I can issue any refund or difference amount which you've paid earlier.
    Carol: *for the software earlier.
Carol: I can only guide our customer to choose correct product of their needs and guide them through order process by providing a link being from online sales chat support team.
Ann: please give me the link I need for refund of product.
Carol: As per Adobe return policy our customer who has purchased Adobe product can return product for refund only within 30 days. If you've exceeded the return time frame you'll not be eligible for refund.
    Ann: Oh Lordy.
Carol: Please click here to view more information
Ann: You are in my disfavor ... you are following your process, but you have NOT been helpful
Carol: I'm trying my best to help you with a resolution.
Carol: Could you please tell me when did you buy the product?
Ann: Is there anything you can help me with other than lying down a total of $599 when I've already paid $300?
Ann: July 16, 2012. Obviously I hadn't been aware of a 30 day policy ... I was too angry and frustrated to even look at your site. I turned from a position of Oh my Gosh I love this company ... to I hope never to work with them again
Ann: It's a bad policy arrangement to not tell customers who ask directly that the new product is going to launch 2-3 days later ... It's a bad policy decision to not give them ANY kind of date to assess reasonable wait time
Ann: Obviously, people in the company knew it was going to be released
Carol: I understand. I apologize on behalf of our representatives who misguided you with the wrong information on your previous chat.
Carol: Ann, I wish I could issue a coupon or discount or initiate a refund on this live chat, however, we do not have an access. I'm really sorry for that.
Carol: Once you contact our customer service team on phone they'll guide you and help you with alternate solution to resolve this issue.
Ann: your customer service person stated she was going to send a contact information ... and she did not.
Ann: what kind of alternate solution is that?
Ann: I do appreciate you can see that I'm very frustrated
Ann: the second time I contacted her she hung up ... why do you think giving me an option of calling her a third time would be a good decision?
Carol: I understand how frustrating it would be, however, I'd like you to try once more. You might get connected with our other representatives who will help you to resolve this issue.
Ann: How would you like to end this conversation we are having? It is circular and unhelpful ... I've not gone any distance further, but to be more frustrated at you telling me to do what already has proven not to work.
Carol: Ann, I wish I could help you on this chat, however, I'm helpless at this moment since we don't have any access on this chat being a sales representative.
Carol: Your issue will be resolved only by contacting our customer service team.
Ann: Thank you for your service ... though I don't find you to be obviously very customer orientated.
Carol: Ann, I can provide you a link to chat with our customer service team too.
    Carol: Please click here.
Your chat transcript will be sent to [email address removed by host] at the end of your chat.
Carol: Thank you for visiting Adobe.com. Have a great day!
Thank you for chatting with us today.

    Carey,
Thank you, I just received your email.  Concerning your statements and questions ...
I appreciate your diligence in contacting me and I appreciate that you would like to alleviate my frustration.  I am satisfied to hear that somehow my experience might better train the situation for the next time it comes up, and in particular with that particular representative since I had TWO bad interactions with her one worse than the other.  I believe Carol tried to do her best, but felt her much too limited in her abilities or authority to be of any service.  It was a runaround, and what was more disappointing was that apparently her supervisor had stepped in and had not rectified the problem, or even had the courtesy to talk to me directly. She left both Carol and myself hanging. I've been in these situations before where one has responsibility and no authority.  If you had significant resources at Adobe - that might also be looked at.   I can let that go though too.  In general though, I think a company as major an educational resource could do better.
I talked to whoever left the number +36204 on my phone between 12-1 pm central today 8-27-12.  I believe I talked to the second person, Carol, for approximentaly 45 minutes and the conversation was betweeen 1:03 and 1:48 central today 8-27-12.  The woman on +36204 did not provide me a name or number, but it had been recorded on my phone.  For the second outreach, Carol, obviously, we emailed ourselves a copy of the transcript verbatem and then left it here as directed our complaints should go.  In the meantime I tweeted the situation and by chance TJ Holmes from CNN was asking responding to a situation similiar to this one.  It was at #trafficlights and also dealt with the issue of posting complaints formally at forums directed by the service provider.  I made a realization at that time that no one from Adobe had appeared to contact any customers at the forum, but then here you are.  Thank you.  BTW - I contributed to the CNN conversation my frustration, but believe I had no impact in the discussion - just the realizatioin that Adobe is not the only one to be trying to handle complaints through specific gestures.
The issue I would rather focus on at this point, is your correct, I did want the e-learning suite provided that I can afford it.  I am a student at Jones Internatioal University and my student email is [E-mail address removed by moderator.].  Please continue emailing me at [E-mail address removed by moderator.].  I don't use the student email for any other purposes than things like this.  My understanding CONTRARY to the first woman is that you don't offer a student discount which is very unfortunate, because it is obvious those students getting in the teaching field could utilize a reasonably cost(ed) course-building tool.  I had gotten the cloud service as well and thought I'd already invested so much more into this than I should on a fixed income from disability.  I'm trying to make better use of me by teaching others with my disability.  My newly formed business email is here http://newsdidmpd.blogspot.com and my normal blog is at http://annsmultipleworldofpersonality.blogspot.com.  I am a self-proclaimed advocate for people with dissociative identity disorders.
I am disabled, but not useless or less intelligent than most.  Please do what you can within reasonable.
I do want the Adobe e-learning software, I do have Captivate ... and would rather be using captivate WITHIN the e-learning package. If there was a refund on Captivate that could work into some reasonable cost I would be satisfied.
Thank you for looking at these messages.  It does not leave me feeling so helpless or hopeless with this situation.
    Our best,
    Ann

  • Is Adobe captivate compatible with skillsoft?

    Adobe captivate compatible with Skillsoft

    Hello,
    Welcome to Adobe Forums.
Are you talking about Skillport LMs which is a part of Skillsoft? It has not been tested but Adobe Captivate works with any Learning Management System (LMS) that is SCORM (1.2 or 2004) and AICC compliant.
Please find the list of tested LMS with Adobe Captivate.

  • How do I create a typing test in Adobe Captivate?

Does anyone know of a widget or some other way that I can create a typing test in Captivate to evaluate a learner's typing speed and accuracy?  Any suggestions would be appreciated.  Thanks.

I spend a fair amount of time working to learn some Flash and haunted some Flash coder groups on the set. I think I remember seeing some Flash typing practice code that you could buy. If you can get the fla files perhaps some tweaking could be done so that it can talk to Captivate for some score reporting to the instructor. I don't know enough about that sort of thing to be sure, but it would be worth exploring.
I did a search and there were sevreal hits. THis one looks interesting - http://active.tutsplus.com/tutorials/games/create-a-complete-typing-game-in-flash-with-as3 / . If you have the eLearning Suite, you have Flash available to give it a shot with. I have been gradually learning a little Flash, nothing fancy, mostly drag and drop sorts of things. It isn't too hard to learn, but you need consident time. I get spurts here and there and that has slowed my learning curve down. I start figuring something out and then I get slammed with a high workload and by the time I can get back in to the Flash I forgot much of what I learned and have to relearn it again. sigh. It has a lot of power though and it is always worth learning the tools that make up the tools we use such as Flash, Captivate, Muse, Edge, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, etc. I hope you are like me and you absolutely love the thrill of figuring out how to get an idea to a nice looking and great working product for students. Too many cool tools and ideas and too little time. lol
