Adobe Flashplayer

Attempted to install Adobe Flash Player 10 using Adobe Download Manager - Installation fails giving the error:  Error:  Failed to register.  Per the recommendation of the Forum - Downloaded Flash Player 10 and re-attempted installation.  Local installation fail giving the error:  Could not open file:  C:\Windows\system32\macromed\flash\flash10e.ocx  Most of the posts in the forum indicate the next step is re-intalling the operating system.... Is there any other way?

Hi, You may want to check in Programs & Features to see if the Adobe DLM(download manager) is listed and also page
down and see if getPlus is listed. Sometimes these do not work as they should. I would use the Remove option and Remove each one and when finished, Reboot and then recheck to make sure they have both been removed.
Also while you are there, post back all Java listings with version numbers if listed.
I'm sure you know that you have to have Administrative privileges to install ActiveX Controls and write to the Windows Registry as Flash Player does.
Any Anti-Virus/Spyware can prevent the install too. Some of these programs have Firewalls that would also prevent an install.
Please read over this link: http://go.adobe.com/kb/ts_tn_19166_en-us  You may find something there that needs to be changed.
There are ways to Uninstall and Install that are downloaded to your Desktop and Run  from there and have been very
successful. The reason being you would be disconnected from the Internet and any Anti-Virus/Firewall would be disabled after going offline. That way there would be no chance of those programs and others of preventing an Install.
I will be offline until later this evening, but will review what you have posted and reply.
Thanks,

  • Unable to install adobe flashplayer on mac 10.9.2

Hi I recently upgraded to 10.9.2 and I am unable to install Adobe Flashplayer on Safari.  I've done an uninstall and downloaded and tried to reinstall but it hangs a little more than halfway.  All I get is an error message saying there's an error - no specifics.
Any help here please?  Thanks in advance!

Are you trying to install this: Adobe Flash Player 12.0.0.77?
I would suggest doing the following:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions - Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
    Try installing Flash again.

  • Adobe Flashplayer has stopped working in IE11

    Hi all,
My IE11 does not want to Allow Adobe Flashplayer on webpages. I get the announcement on webpages that require Flash that "This web page wants to run the following add-on: 'Adobe Flash Player' from 'Microsoft Windows Third Party Application Compon...'."
When I click "Allow" it reloads the page and the message is shown again and the flash still not working. Flash works perfectly in Firefox.
This started to occur after this update had been installed "Security Update for Windows 8.1 x64-based Systems (KB3011780)".
I have checked so that the add-on "Shockwave Flash Object" is enabled in the browser and that the Active X filtering is not "checked".

    Hello Rangvald86,
Do you use the Windows 8.1? Based on my test in my environment, I can’t find the same issue.
Please take the following steps to register the flash.ocx file.
    1. Open the notepad and type regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\macromed\flash\flash.ocx
    2. Save it as flash.bat and run it as an administrator by right clicking on the file and select run as administrator.
    3. Open the website you were unable to open

  • Why can't I download adobe flash player on IPAd 2?  Several web programs , such as Hayhouse radio, require adobe flashplAyer 9 or higher.

Why can't I download adobe flashplayer on my iPad 2?  Several web programs, including Hayhouse radio, require adobe flashplAyer.  iPad has an app for Hayhouse radio, but won't work without flashplAyer to access all content.  I just got iPad for Xmas and am not sure I want it anymore cause I have so much trouble accessing web programs.  Never had an apple before!  Thank you so very much for any advice you can give me.  Crychak, oldsmAr Florida.

No Flash for iPads, iPhones, or iPods
Here's why there's is no Flash available for iDevices or other mobile devices. Adobe was unable to provide a product that was suitable to the needs of battery powered mobile devices used for Internet browsing. Existing Flash technology used too much memory, ate battery life, and was buggy. Simply put Flash did not work well on mobile devices.
Apple's Steve Jobs led the escape from Flash dependency when Apple introduced the iPhone, and later introduced the iPad. There was a hue and cry over the omission. Time proved Jobs was right on target.
So this is why there is no Flash for your iPhone or iPad or iPod nor for most SmartPhones. Flash has been abandoned by many sites in favor of supported technologies such as HTML5 or by providing their own custom app.
Here is Steve Jobs official comment on his momentous decision to omit Flash from iDevices: Steve Jobs on Flash.
Here is Adobe's later announcement to cease development of Flash for mobile devices: Adobe on Mobile Flash.
Now, you are not necessarily out on a limb. There are some apps that can display some Flash, but don't count on there ability to display anything using Flash.
Apps that can display some Flash from the Web:
    Puffin
    SkyFire
    Photon Flash
    Browse2Go
    iSwifter
Also, note that many sites that use Flash provide their own app for accessing their material. So check with your favorite sites and find out if "there's an app for that."

  • Does anyone have more information on the virus disguised as adobe flashplayer

Does anyone have more information on the virus disguised as adobe flashplayer that was released last Thursday 5 Apr 12.  Can you simply use time machine to reload the entire system from backup to make sure you don't have the virus.

On ninemsn TECH news: It's called flashback trojan
The computer security industry buzzed Thursday with warnings that more than a half-million Macintosh computers may have been infected with a virus targeting Apple machines.
Flashback Trojan malware tailored to slip past "Mac" defenses is a variation on viruses typically aimed at personal computers (PCs) powered by Microsoft's Windows operating systems.
The infections, spotted "in the wild" by Finland-based computer security firm F-Secure and then quantified by Russian anti-virus program vendor Dr. Web, come as hackers increasingly take aim at Apple computers.
"All the stuff the bad guys have learned for doing attacks in the PC world is now starting to transition to the Mac world," McAfee Labs director of threat intelligence Dave Marcus told AFP.
"Mac has said for a long time that they are not vulnerable to PC malware, which is true; they are vulnerable to Mac malware."
Dr. Web determined that more than 600,000 Mac computers may be infected with Flashback, which is designed to let hackers steal potentially valuable information such as passwords or financial account numbers.
Hackers trick Mac users into downloading the virus by disguising it as an update to Adobe Flash video viewing software.
Apple has long boasted that Windows machines are more prone to hacking than Macs.
Computer security specialists contend that the reason for the disparity was that since most of the world's computers were powered by Windows, hackers focused on systems that promised the most prey.
As the popularity of Macs has soared, so has the allure of hacking Apple operating systems, according to Marcus.
"There has been a significant increase in Mac malware in the last several quarters, so what we've seen with the Flashback Trojan isn't particularly surprising," Marcus said.
"Cybercriminals will attack any operating system with valuable information, and as the popularity of Macs increase, so will attacks on the Mac platform."
Computer users, no matter their operating systems of choice, need to protect machines with tactics including up-to-date anti-virus programs and avoiding risky habits such as opening files or clicking links from unknown sources.

  • Adobe flashplayer will not download

I am currently trying to get on to my personal banking website, but when I try to get to the home page it tells me that I need to download the current version of Adobe Flashplayer. I have gone through all of the steps that they walk you through for enabling and disabling certain things, as well as going straight to the Adobe website to try to download it from there. I am running on Windows 8.1 and I have seen a few times that I do not need Adobe Flashplayer with this. I still cannot get to my banking website and need to pay my corporation bills. please help!

Hi, Try a clean installation of the Flash Plug-in as follows. First, download the Flash uninstall utility on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder. Flash Player Uninstaller. When the download has completed, close all browser windows, open your Download folder and run the uninstaller.  After this has completed, restart the notebook. Next, ( unless you already have it ), download and install Firefox and then using Firefox, download and install the latest version of Adobe Flash.  Note: You may want to deselect the option to include McAfee Security Scan Plus before downloading. Close all browser windows before running the Flash installer. Launch Firefox and see if your banking site works Ok in this browser - if it does, close Firefox, open Internet Explorer and click on the same Adobe Flash link above to get a prompt to install the ActiveX component.  When done, restart Internet Explorer. Regards,
     DP-K

How does Flash Player differ on various browsers?

  • Adobe Flashplayer via Windows 8.

    Hello,
I need to install Adobe Flashplayer on Windows 8, but I cannot find the options Windows 8.
The higest options is Windows 7 64 bits en Windows 7 32 bits.
Hope someone has a solution for this.

For what web browser?  Internet Explorer 10 on Windows 8 has Flash Player preinstalled; you don't need to (and cannot) install Flash Player manually.
For other browsers download the installer from http://helpx.adobe.com/content/help/en/flash-player/kb/installation-problems-flash-player- windows.html#main-pars_header

I am trying very unscussefully to install Adobe Flashplayer.  I operate on Windows 7!  I kept getting eroor messages on "social network" sites that I needed Flashplayer.  Well, I had (operative word) Flashplayer.  After several times of errors "installing it", I de-installed the existing one!  NOW, I cannot get any version to install.  If I have to, I can use "restore" but that is NOT really acceptable.  What is going on and why is this product not installing?  I do NOT want any "add on" things like Google Chrome or any other products.  I simply want this product properly installed and functioning on my computer!  HELP!

Click Start, type msconfig.exe, press Enter, click Selective startup, uncheck Load startup items. Click Services tab, check Hide all Microsoft services, click Disable all, click Ok, click Restart.
How do I do a clean install of Flash Player?
    After the install.
Click Start, type msconfig.exe, press Enter, click Normal startup, click ok, click Restart.
