Adobe forums down for major upgrade this weekend

The Adobe user-to-user forums will be offline this weekend, starting at 6PM (Pacific time) tonight (Friday night), 16September2011.
During the downtime, the forum software will be upgraded. We expect to be back online on Sunday afternoon.
There will not be a lot of cosmetic or feature changes to the forums, but we do expect to see better stability and performance. There are also a number of bug fixes, including the rich text editor (random line breaks). We will also be introducing new features in the near term future (documents and polls). And we will have a number of new video tutorials about using the forums.
Thanks for your patience during the scheduled downtime, and we look forward to seeing you in the updated forums.

Two observations.
The pop-up flyout that appears when the cursor is hovered over
a user's profile name would previously display only the threads
that were initiated by that user, now all of the user's recent activity
is displayed instead.
Adding the reply that the original poster has designated as the
'correct answer' to the original post is an interesting function,
but it can be detrimental for a user who may not read the subsequent
responses that provide more complete (and often better) information
regarding the problem in question.
A skimmer may only read the original post with the 'correct' response, and
not gain the benefit of of the nuance and corrections that usually follow.
Also, it is often the case that the OP does not recognize a response as
incomplete or not entirely incorrect, and designates the post as 'correct'
anyway.

PC freezes using Itunes since the upgrade this weekend

Since upgrading this weekend, my screen is freezing after several songs. Music is playing but I can't give any commands with the mouse. Mouse moves around the screen. Control-Alt-Delete eventually worked to get things moving again.

Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

(Yosemite) Admin account woes after upgrading this weekend.

Hi,
I seem to have got myself in a little bother on my Mid-2007 iMac Core 2 Extreme after upgrading to Yosemite this weekend.
Since about Tiger I've had two accounts on this Mac, an admin and a daily use account. My wife and I share the daily use (1), with the admin account (4) only logged in to when sudo won't do.
It seemed clear to me with iOS8 and Yosemite that it was going to be better to align AppleIDs with user accounts so I created a new account for my daughter with her AppleID (2) and a new one for me with my other AppleID (3) (an old MobileMe account) however perhaps in error I used the alias address from the MobileMe account. I couldn't log in with it at all and can't work out how to change which AppleID email address is used with that OS X account. Then I noticed that my original Admin account (4) was a Standard User and now I'm in a position where the only Admin account on this machine has never been logged-in to and won't work - presumably because I used an alias rather than the primary address.
I've gone through Recovery Disk > Terminal > reset password > but that doesn't seem to work - perhaps because it's an AppleID OS X user rather than a local user(?)
Does anyone have any ideas how I should go about recovering from this?
Failing all, should I hit restore in Time Machine; it hasn't taken a backup since before the upgrade (I've disconnected the TimeCapsule to make sure) - anyway most of our recently changed files from the last two weeks will be safely on Dropbox/Photo stream.

Solution
After several further hours pondering/Googling:
1. Boot into Single User Mode
2. Type: mount - uw (sets write access on drive)
3. Type: rm /var/db/ .AppleSetupDone (removes the file that tells the iMac that setup is done
4. Exit
Upon rebooting the Setup app started so I was able to create a temporary Admin user and correct
my errors.

I currently own Adobe Proefessional 8.1.3 and want to purchase or upgrade to the latest version. Will my version qualify for an "upgrade" or must I purchase the software?

The minimum version eligible for an upgrade is Acro 9. You will have to buy a completely fresh license.

feature sucks cheese in a sandstorm. If you look at the links that
are produced, you will find that they look something like this:

But if you trim off the last bit where it says:

I've reported to Adobe and others have reported to Adobe. Yet

process.

Bought new Mac on 3rd June - could i speak to Apple and ask for free upgrade - this is my first Mac!

I have never been a Mac owner before now… I considered carefully about whether to buy a Mac or PC and in the end chose my new iMac with i5 Core Processor. I had been a PC user prior to this. I also got 3 years Apple Care. The thing is, if I had been aware that Snow Leopard was going to be available to those buying from 6th June for free, I would probably have delayed buying until then. I am wondering if Apple would be likely to show good faith and give the Snow Leopard for free seeing as I had seriously considered the choice of a Mac and am so close to the date of inclusion. I am sure it would be good PR for Apple to say yes. What do people suggest I do?

Been told by EE that Wifi Calling is currently down for majority of customers???

i'm a new business sim only pay monthly customer. I signed up to EE a few days ago specifically for the wifi calling as I work from home in a rural area with very little mobile reception.
Have an IPhone 5S with ios 8.4, EE carrier 20 and WIfi calling enabled. Wifi calling has been activated by EE from their side (apparently twice) and I still have no 'EE WIfi' showing. After speaking to half a dozen first level tech reps over past two days I finally got put through to a second level tech agent who informed me that there is a known issue with wifi calling for a large number if customers but was reluctant to give me any other information even as to how long it had been going on for and how/when they would resolve it? He couldnt even explain why none of the other reps I had contacted knew of this. He has informed me that i am to wait for a text to let me know what is happening with resolving the issue- has anyone else been told this?

Like Burge advised even if you have a full signal as long as you are connected to Wi-Fi the W-Fi Calling will still work.
It's only if the Wi-Fi signal is 1 bar that the Wi-Fi Calling will drop out.
There was a provisioning issue but there was a fix put in place on Tuesday. So everything should be working fine now!
If you are still having issues it needs to go to level 2 tech to get a ticket raised.

Can anyone offer a sequence of steps to upgrade
From: OS 10.6, windows XP, RAM 2GB, Hard drive 200 GB
To: OS Mountain Lion, Windows 7 64 bit, 4 GB RAM, 1tb Harddrive
I have the software and the hardware is coming from OWC.
My ?? are what first, hardware or software, in what order?

Hardware. The order doesn't matter. Software, you should upgrade OS X first from the Mac App Store and then upgrade to Windows 7.

Preprations for SAP upgrade

Hello,
Does anyone know what preparations for BW have to be done before an R/3 upgrade.
We are going to upgrade our R/3 system (currently 6.4) to mySAP Enterprise with ECC 5.0. The loads run daily or twice a day in the system. The production server is however going to be down for the upgrade during the weekend and it will be up and running after two days. We are currently using BW 3.5 SP10 and we use all FICO and Logistics DataSources. We are going to turn the loads off during those two days but do we have to do something else (e.g. empty logistics set up tables or anything else) before we shut down the system? and should anything specific be done when we turn on the system again?

If you use Logistic Cockpit, please make sure that you know notes 328181, 396647, 380078.
These are absolutely prerequisit notes for using Logistic Cockpit.
Never change the extract structure (communication structure) when there is data in SM13 or in the DeltaQueue!
Never upgrade your PlugIn System when you have data in SM13 or in the DeltaQueue!
SM13 and RSA7 have ALWAYS to be EMPTY BEFORE you apply any changes to communication structures, extract structures or any referenced Data Dictionary object or BEFORE you upgrade your PlugIn system!!!
SM13 and RSA7 have to be EMPTY also when you apply PlugIn Support Packages!

I have an iMac that meets system requirements. I have downloaded CS4 from Adobe and when I try to install it says "Setup has encountered an error and cannot continue. Contact Adobe Customer Support for assistance." This happens while it is checking the system profile. I have read many forums and tried the following:
Re-downloading the software
Moving the download to an external drive to install
Deleting all Adobe programs on my computer
Clearing all caches
Installing in safe mode
Verifying the disk
Creating a new administrator and then installing
Attempting to re-install after the error
None of these options have seemed to make a bit of difference. If there is another option could someone please share? Adobe said they will not ship actual discs although I own the program. They have yet to be able to help me when I have called.

and, if all else fails, you can check your log files for more detailed error info, Troubleshoot with install logs | CS5, CS5.5, CS6, CC

Why is Adobe dropping support for pre 3GS phones?!

I think it's a bad decision to drop support for pre 3GS devices. There are still many out there and if support is dropped we're forced to still use the old PFI to reach the complete audience.
It's clear that OpenGL ES 2 offers a lot more fancy stuff than OpenGL ES 1.5 does, but still, things like GPU_VECTOR or sophisticated blending are perfectly doable with OpenGL ES 1.5.
And if a clean implementation is really not possible, Adobe should at least allow to publish for old devices even if this means that not all optimization techniques can be used.
I develop iPhone apps using different technologies and AIR is attractive for me because I can target with one project a big range of different plattforms. If Adobe drops support for old phones, this advantage is heavily shortened!
What is your opinion on the this development?

Apple have dropped support for pre-3GS because to pull of the features and performance in iOS 4.3 they had to develop just for the ARM7 chip, and not for the ARM6. They probably have a good sense of the number of people that have the older devices, and think it's ok to not update the software on those devices.
The same may be true for Adobe.
I am trying to find out how to make AIR 2.6 and AIR 2.0 live together in Flash CS5. If I work it out I'll let you know.
