Adobe LiveCycle Access Field in Subform inside Master Page

Hello,
I have a Dynamic PDF document created in LiveCycle 8.2 with the following structure
topmostSubform
          (Master Pages)
                  Page1
                        sfHeader
                               txtName
When I try to assign the value, using C# language, to the txtName I'm getting a null exception.
It looks that my code can't recognize the hierarchy structure.
I tried the following options and none of them worked
topmostSubform[0].#pageSet[0].Page1[0].sfHeader[0].txtName[0]"
topmostSubform[0].pageSet[0].Page1[0].sfHeader[0].txtName[0]"
topmostSubform[0].Page1[0].sfHeader[0].txtName[0]"

I'm using Dynamic PDF Merger by ceTe Software.
Unfortunately this product is not good to work with dynamic pdf forms.
I also tried to use iTextSharp. So far no luck.
I would truly appreciate if you can give me any other suggestions.
I also wonder if there is an option to have a dynamic pdf files it should be the way to map data to the fields on this form?

Custom Library 'Adobe LiveCycle Workflow Fields'

Hello,
I'm just reading through the document 'creating_workflows.pdf' of Workflow 7.0. In the chapter about designing forms for workflow it says that the custom library is available with the SDK, however I was not able to locate the library. There are also some workflow fields in Adobe Designer 7.0, but I think they are for older workflow versions, because the field names don't match the ones in the documentation ('creating_workflows.pdf'). Can somebody help me locate the library or tell me which fields to use for my forms?

Hi Karin
The library is actually in a file called Adobe LiveCycle Workflow Field.xfo which is part of the Workflow SDK. You will find it in:
\LiveCycleWorkflow7_SDK\Misc

In order to install this library, you need to create a new Group in the library palette, and then add this file to the directory that gets automatically created to hold this group. The usual location for new groups is:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Acrobat 7.0\Designer 7.0\EN\objects\[grpname]

Adobe Form - Cannot add Javasript codes on Master Pages

Hi Experts - please help
Could someone please tell me Why (or How) JavaScript cannot be plave on a Master Page - I have some Javascript codes here working fine on a subform page - but when I try to put them on a Master page page - the JavaScript editor is greyed out - unenable me to put the codes in - If I put the codes in the subform in the Master page - nothing work - ??
Should I use xfa.layout...for the resolveNodes ???

Not sure what the problem could be, but here are few hints:
1) We have placed JavaScript code in the Master pages before, and it worked fine.
2) We are using Adobe LiveCycle Designer Version 7.1.
3) Remember, you can't put JavaScript code for the ContentArea of the Masterpage, So try adding a blank subform, and place some test code (xfa.host.Messagebox....) in the following event: layout:ready

How to synch values of fields (cbo & text) in Master Pages section in dynamically created pages?

HI folks,
I have a requirement for a form that has a common master page with a checkbox and text field in it.   The document is basically a table that dynamically adds rows as the user adds entries.   When the first page is full, a second page is dynamically created and the Master page format (including the checkbox & text field) applied to it.
When the user sets the checkbox on one page and/or adds text, all of the checkboxes on all of the dynamically created pages (in the master section) and all of the text boxes need to change to show the same values.
However, I can't figure out how to address the fields on the other pages.   The number of pages changes from user to user, so I can't address them with a static reference.
Does anyone know how to keep these fields in synch?

Repeate Subforms In Master Pages

Hi All,
Am unable to see repeated sun forms when master pages are repeating based on body pages.
Let me explain my scenario
I have one master page and one body page, master page i have one repeated sub form contains list of doctors
In body page am displaying ordered services which also using repeated sub forms when the data exceeds to first page it is automatically overflows to second page in this scenario repeated sub forms of master page doctors list is not displaying in exceeded second page, but it is displaying in first page.
Can any one give solution for this scenario.

In Adobe forms, what ever you keep in the Master Page will be repeated for the next consecutive pages.
In other words Master Page is like a letter head which contains elements in common for all the consecutive pages to print. The positions and the layout will remain same for the Master page unless altered dynamically.
Body Page is nothing but the content. Which will be printed in the Context Area of the Main Page.
Contents in the Body page will be printed only once.
Solution:
Please place the elements which has to be repeated for all the pages in the Master page.
If further help needed, Please post the lay out for us.

Adobe Livecycle Designer ES 2 - how to repeat page layout in the form?

How would you repeat page layout design randomly in a form, means how the same page layout can be repeated on non-consecutive pages of an LC Form? For e.g. I want to repeat Page1 layout on Page 5 and Page 6 of an LC Form. How to do that. Please reply.

You use Master Pages to set layout that you want to use on multiple pages.
Design what you want in a Master Page and then assign it to the pages you want in Object>Pagination>Place: and choose On Page> whatever you called your Master Page.

Adobe livecycle comb fields caching

Hello,
I have created a subform where info will be added into comb/text fields.
The problem that I'm having is that the comb fields are caching the previous entries.
Is there a setting that I can use in the design mode (or elsewhere) that will cause the text/comb fields not to cache?

How do I populate my date fields placed on Master Page for multiple pages?

I have a dynamic form with flowing fields. I inserted date fields using the Master Pages tab within Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES2, Windows 7 OS. I have only 1 Master Page. Everything on the form is working properly, except when I have multiple pages, the date fields are blank on all but the first page. One of the date fields has javascript in the exit event to calculate the second date field. I can manually edit the subsequent page(s) date fields, but I don't want the end user to have to do that. I want the date fields on the new pages to equal the date fields on the first pages. Below is my output with notes to provide a visualization of what I'm looking for.

Yes, both date fields are on the Master Page. The first one is set to "User entered - Required" and the second to "Calculated - User Can Override"
And that's right, I used your script to calculate the second date field. The only thing I changed was the field name, and used 6 days instead since I wanted the calendar days to only run a full week, like start on a Monday and end on Sunday.

Echoing entered field in master pages/headers

I'm creating a form that needs to have some data entered on the first page (a patient name) which then gets echoed to all of the subsequent pages on the form in case the pages get separated.
I have two master pages: one for the first page, with the company logo, and one for subsequent pages, which has the same logo but also includes a read-only field for the redisplay of the patient name. The patient name is entered on the first page, and a script that runs on change populates the read-only field in the second master page with the value of the entered field.
The second and following pages use the "subsequent page" master page.
All of that works, but the odd thing is that the value of the field only displays on the FIRST iteration of the subsequent page. In other words, the value entered on page 1 displays correctly on page 2, but on pages 3 and forward it doesn't show. The field is there, but it's empty.
I assumed that setting a read-only field's data within a master page / header would cause it to display on all pages that use that master page, but it seems to only get displayed on the first such page.
How do I make the field entered/filled out on the first page echo on all subsequent pages, in the header?

The reason why the 1st one is the only one filled is that each field has a unique name .....soyou woudl have to determine how many pages you have and write a for loop to place th eentered value into each of the fields (the page number is part of the Expression that is used to make the field unique). You can see the unique expression by adding the javascript comand app.alert(this.somExpression) in the enter event. Now each time you enter the field it will display the somExpression and you can see the difference in the field name (it will be a page occurance number).
OR......
If you set the binding to global then all fields that have the same name will get the same value.

Multiple Master pages in a form

Hi All,
I am developing a 10 paged form in adobe LiveCycle Designer. I need the first page to have the page number as 1of 1, Second to 6th page to have numbers 1of 5, 2 of 5...5 of 5,Seventh page to have no number and the last three pages to have numbers 1of 3, 2 of 3 and 3 of 3.
Please help me in doing this with MASTER PAGES. All replies are appreciated.

Place a text field on master page and place the below script on the event of layout ready. This will work for exact 10 pages (as per ur requirement), we can change for any pages, but need to know the page count before.

Dynamically Hiding a Master Page

Is it possible to hide the master pages dynamically?

You can hide the master page depending on any condition you have. But there is one clean rule. If your master page doesn't want to get printed then content area of that master page should not contain any data. It means even if you hide all the data in the content area, your whole master page ( including its instances i.e overflown pages) will be hidden.
For that you have to create a text field in your layout and drag and drop it in the content area of the master page which you want to hide. The text field acts like a flag whether or not to hide the master page. If 'X' then hide. Else do not hide. The value of the flag field will be decided while coding in the interface itself based on your condition. Then wrap the data of the content area including your flag field in a sub form. Do not forget to hide the flag field after wrapping it in the sub form because you don't want to show this on the page if that page is displayed by any chance.
Finally click on the whole wrapped sub form. Write below Form calc script in events Initialization, Form Ready and Layout Ready.
Here the HIDEPAGE_FLAG is nothing but your flag field.

This code hides your whole sub form . It means there will be no data shown in the content area and the Adobe framework doesn't print that specific master page(and all its instances). :-)

How to attach an object back to its source in a master page?

on a content page I can access objects from the assigned master page using the Ctrl+Shift+LeftClick combination. By doing so I detach many attributes of this object from the master page specifications. How to reset an object and attach it back to the source object of the master page?
If you are a PowerPoint user, the option reapply slide layout may be familiar to you (this function resets all format overrides to the master settings). I am looking for a similar function in InDesign.

I really looking for a way to change the position of the second and third text boxes relative to other items on the page.
An overriden master page item will still respond to its master's position if its position on the page after overriding hasn't been changed. So, you can have the "directions" box on the master page, override it, add text, and as long as you don't move its x, y position in the process of adding text, it can be moved via the master page in the future. The key is not to move it in the editing process.
Same goes for other attributes. If the fill color is red, you can change it to gray from its master later, as long as you don't change the page item's fill to pink in between.
It's also possible to match a changed page item's attributes to its master via scripting.
So for example if you had a 3" text box on the master and there was 100 pages with the text box, and in the editing process 50 had their width changed to varying widths and later you decided you needed a 4"width— a simple script could loop through all the pages and reset the changed widths to match the master's new 4" width.

How can i make a button in a masterpage invisble??

And i want to make the resetButton in MasterPage invisible depending on some conditions.

Digital Signature issue in Master pages

Hi,
I have added signature field object in the master page. I am not able to sign pdf through e-signature whenever i am defining signature object on master page.
I tried to add object on the normal page, then it is working fine.
Can anybody suggest cause of the same?

Are the User Name and Password correct? Is the User assigned to the SAP_XMII_User role in Netweaver? On the iCommand's Security screen, is the SAP_XMII_User assigned as a Reader role?
Have you checked the Netweaver log? There may be more detailed information there.
