Adobe Spry jQuery conflict in Text Field validation.

I am using Adobe Spry for my form validation, and jQuery for hiding / showing elements on a page based on responses to questions.  jQuery works fine for this for me.  Where I am having a problem is using jQuery to take the value of one input and enter it into a second input text field with after adding a year to it.
Adobe Spry is always validating the fields an enforcing the date to be in the correct format mm/dd/yyyy.
jQuery will only work if I remove the script reference to SpryValidationTextField.js   it is 1.6.1 v.37
Has anyone ever seen this and can help me. Everything works fine independently, but will not play together.
Here is a link to the page on the site.

Hi Arnout,
I removed the no conflict, because when the block of code below was loaded after it, it would not work.
What is supposed to happen is what ever date is entered into the Effective Date, the Expiration Date should populate with the same date + 1 year.
Thanks,
Joe
For some reason this script block is never executed:
<script type="text/javascript">
  $(document).ready(function(){
$(function() {
    $('#EffectiveDate').change(function () {
        var parts = $(this).val().split('/');
        var date = new Date(parseInt(parts[2], 10), parseInt(parts[0], 10) - 1, parseInt(parts[1], 10));
        date.setFullYear(date.getFullYear() + 1);
        $('#ExpirationDate').val(isNaN(date.getFullYear()) ? '' : formatDate(date));
function formatDate(date) {
    var day = date.getDate();
    var month = date.getMonth() + 1;
    var year = date.getFullYear();
    return (month < 10 ? '0' : '') + month + '/' + (day < 10 ? '0' : '') + day + '/' + year;
</script>
What I would suggest is fixing your page first, it does not really validate and give some "nasty" errors:

  • Text Field Validation

    Hi All,
    I am new to adobe, i want to validate text feild in the form,  i have  to enter in this particular format
    Eg:   01-02
    Eg1 : 01-02,02-03,.....
    i want to go on add the string if require like 01-02,02-03,03-04,......
    Please let me know how can i validate using Regular Expression or is there any way to validate it
    waiting for reply ,
    sekhar

    There may be a validation expression you could build but it would require parsing each byte to test against valid ascii characters. A more simple method might be to introduce a new field of type integer and expose that to the layout. Use a "Before Modified record is saved" workflow to then copy this new field to the corresponding Miscellaneous Text field. This could act as your validation.

  • Earliest Adobe Reader Version with Editable Text Field Functionality

    Hi all,
    Can someone inform me of the earliest version of Adobe Reader with which you can edit a document with editable text fields? I've designed a form using LiveCycle and, prior to distributing it to customers, would like to determine the minimum spec for Reader.
    Thanks, JB

    Editable fields came in with 3.0, but if you use LiveCycle Designer,
    which is new technology, it's 7.0 or so.

  • Retain all form field values after input text field validation failure

    Hi,
    I have a form with 1 input text field, one Command button and one h:selectManyListbox. when User enteres some values in input field and clicks on command button named Add, the value is validated. If input is invalid, then an error message appears next to the field. If input is valid, then the value is added into h:selectManyListbox. Adding to list box is done using Ajax4Jsf.
    Probelm:
    Let's assume user entered 3 valid values one after another and all are added into the list box. When he enters a wrong value, and error message appears. however, the entered values in list box goes away. Is there a way to retain the values even after validation failure.

    Thanks in advance,

    Use the attribute "binding" instead of a "value". This will remember the value. You can also make sure that you dont have anything in your constructor or class level that initialises that value to "" or null. Because if JSF is remembering your value but your initialization that gets triggered before the page loading resets it to default values then you need to change that part of the code.

  • Insert JQuery .html into text field nested inside of symbol

    This is one of those, 'it should be so simple....so of course, it's not' question.
    Got a nested symbol. Rather simple one. Inside the symbol is a background rectangle and a text field. When I click a button, it should insert the HTML I give it from the click event.
    Now initially I did this by just using the text field by itself. No nesting. This is the code:
    sym.$("copy").html("Edge Rocks!");
    OK, success! The text loaded just fine.
    Now let's insert that text field inside of a symbol. And let's call that symbol 'content'.
    Now I try....
    sym.$("content").$("copy").html("Some new text");
    Result? Nothing.
    Tried using stage instead of sym and even added a var stage = sym.getComposition().getStage() statement before that. Nope.
    Yea, they don't make it easy. So what's the solution?
    Here's my example file.
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/5n1ehhsp7r3rbt6/text.zip?m
    BTW, ran this in Firebug's console. No errors.

    Yes and no, Elaine. Kind of confusing but if the button is directly on the stage, that code works. However, if that button gets nested inside of its own symbol, the code no longer works and a JS error appears in console.
    So in other words, the button and the text field are nested inside of symbols, but not the same symbol. So it's a question of the path being used.
    I tried switching sym to Stage to no effect.
    Redid the test file and uploaded it to Dropbox:

  • Adobe Livecycle Designer 7.0 - Text fields are not returning data on email submission-Help?

    Hello - I am using Livecycle Designer 7.0 and have created a form with different fields to be filled out and submitted via email back to me using the standard submit by email button.
    However, when the form is filled out and returned all the control field choices from both the checkboxes and the radio buttons are there - but nothing from the textbox fields is returned in the email submission. Those fields are not being returned.
    also - once they are returned how do I ensure they will repopulate via the import data into the form functionality?

    This forum is for the Adobe FormsCentral (formscentral.adobe.com) which is a service that allows you to create, collect and analyze data using an online web form. You should ask Designer related form questions in the Designer forums: http://forums.adobe.com/community/livecycle/livecycle_es/livecycle_designer_es
    I'll move your post to that forum so you don't need to retype it. They can help you out...

  • Duplicate a Text Field on Every Page of a Document?

    Today I wrote my first vb.net/adobe app.  I managed to open the pdf doc in adobe and create a named text field.  I managed to insert a java script that gets the current date when the document is open and updates the text field.  I would like to duplicate the text field on all pages of the document.  Manually, I can right click on a text field and select duplicate.  I don't see a property or method that allows me to program this.  The field property "page" appears to be read only.  any help would be appreciated.  thanks.
    page
    The page number or an array of page numbers of a field. If the field has only one appearance in the document, the page property returns an integer representing the 0-based page number of the page on which the field appears. If the field has multiple appearances, it returns an array of integers, each member of which is a 0-based page number of an appearance of the field. The order in which the page numbers appear in the array is determined by the order in which the individual widgets of this field were created (and is unaffected by tab-order). If an appearance of the field is on a hidden template page, page returns a value of -1 for that appearance.
    TypeInteger | ArrayAccessRFieldsallExample 1Determine whether a particular field appears on one page, or more than one page.var f = this.getField("myField");
    if (typeof f.page == "number")
    console.println("This field only occurs once on page " + f.page);
    else
    console.println("This field occurs " + f.page.length + " times);

    I also tried the brute force method of moving from page to page and creating a text field on each page.   I used pageNum to changes the page, but, adobe didn't seem to recognize that.  I saw the page change on the screen, but, all of the textfields were created on the first page!

  • How to add a instruction to a text field

    Dear all,
    I am trying different ways to add a guideline to a text field. I tried
    1/ To insert a comment, but clearly it is not working with an interactive form in Adobe Acrobat,
    2/ To use text field and set the guideline as default value on the object palette but the problem are
    - The text field is not expanded horizontally even I chose Expand to fit option
    - The guideline does not disappear in case user do not use it
    - The box does not shrink also as users do not type enough lines
    3/ To use text instead of text field for the guideline, the problem is
    - There will be a large space between the two parts since the guideline is not supposed to be printed.
    My question is whether there is a smarter way to suggest users typing in the text field by giving the instructions without having it printed out. For instance, is there a way to have a hidden box, you know, it appears as users drag a mouse or click the field?
    I know this is might be a naive question, but please help me out. I would really appreciate.

    Wow there is a lot to cover in this thread......
    1. A flowed subform means that the content within that form will be placed from left to right top to bottom. In your case where you want to place objects beside each other they need to be within a positioned subform (this means the objects will maintain their position relative to the subform boundaries). So in your case I would break up the form into logical sections and wrap those sections into a flowed subform (make the subform dimensions span the page) then wrap all of the sections in a Page subform that is flowed. Now when it flows everything the positioned subform containers will span the page and will keep theobjects where they are positioned.
    2. Each cell can only house 1 object. You could add another column to add the second course date.
    3. You can add as many rows and columns as you need....so yes you could add a course code.
    4. The form can access a database for filling the form or for writing to the DB, but there are a few things you shoudl know. Reader does not have this capability and it must be enabled using LiveCycle Reader Extensions. This is a server based product so it is priced as such. If you have a small number of users it might be more cost effective to buy Acrobat for each user. Once that is taken care of the connection to the DB is controlled by an ODBC driver in the Windows OS. This means that each machine that loads the form will need to have this driver configured (cannot be automated) as well this solution will only work on a Windows machine. In bigger installations this becomes a maintenance nightmare for most IT shops. Do you still want to proceed down this path?
    5. A form can only create a single data file structure ....I do not understand what you mean by the last point....can you elaborate?

  • Spry validation text field across two columns in a table?

    I have a table with two columns.  I can easily insert a spry validated text field into the left cell but when I drag the box over so that box is in the right column and the label is still in the left column then that breaks the widget.
    Is this even possible for me to do or do I have to put the widget in just one column?

    Think I figured it out.

    I have use Adobe spry validation .

    like on one radio button click i have 5 fields and on submit button press i validate the fields.
    now i switch the radio button and i want to remove those 5 field validation at that time and allow to submit the form even if the 5 fields on first radio button.
    i am creating the validation like

    I have the following code to destroy the object.
    if(DIVExpYear){
                        DIVExpYear.reset();
                         DIVExpYear.destroy();

  • Possible to change type of spry validation text field at run time?

    I am trying to record a date of death on a form, which obviously for live people might not require a value. I have a radio group (Yes/No) that specifies whether the fields associated with the date of death are visible (select for month, day and year).  For the year, I have it set to be an integer with a minimum and maximum value.  The selects have an invalid value of -1 set, with one item labeled "Select month" and "Select day" given the -1 value.
    When the "no" button is clicked, I want to make it so that submitting the form does not cause validation errors for the spry fields associated with the date of death.  I have successfully added onChange events to the select objects that call javascript, along the lines of spryselect1.invalidValue = -2.  I can also make it so that the text field representing the year of death is not forced to be required: sprytextfield1.isRequired = false.
    However, I'm having a hard time getting the "invalid format" validation to be canceled.  I have tried executing sprytextfield1.type = "none", since looking at the source code in SpryValidationTextField.js seems to indicate that the object's type property is important.  However, this doesn't work; I think that's because the type property is used to look up a validation function in an array when the object is constructed, and may not be referenced again after that.
    So, I'm looking for either:
    a property/method to call to effectively change the type OR
    information on whether reconstructing the variable with new options will work.  I am not sure if any event handlers registered during the object's original construction will still be fired even if I make the variable point to a new object.  I see a destroy function in the source code that might do what I want, but my Javascript knowledge isn't too great, so I don't know if that method needs to be called explicity or whether it happens implicitly when an object is garbage collected.
    Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to give.
