Adobe XI (11.0.7) hang with pdf from our webapp

Hi to all, our customers (internal and externals) upgrade to Adobe XI (11.0.7) and they are not able to view the documents from our web app. We try disabling "Enable protected mode at startup" but nothing happen.
They are using Windows 7 x64, IE 8.0.7601.17514 and Adobe Reader 11.0.7, upgrading the browser or use another is not an option. In some tests i perform the uninstall of reader and reinstall it again and it works but also this is not an option for the client.
Can anyone help us?

Hi Robert,
Could you share the web link with me, so that i can also test the issue? (if it is not an internal link)
Regards,
Anoop

  • Unable to create PDF/A with PDF from InDesign

    Hello,
I'm trying to create PDF/A document from InDesign CS4 with Adobe Acrobat 9.
I create my PDF from InDesign (I create a tagged PDF).
For each document create from InDesign, I receive this message from the Preeflight "Convert to PDF/A (sRGB)" of Acrobat.
PDF document is not compliant with PDF/A-1a (2005)
    - Structured PDF : Type entry in a structure element not "StructElem"
    - Structured PDF : Type entry missing
    Thank for your help.
    Cyril.

    Hi graffiti,
let me clarify my question. Indesign doesn't export to PDF/A1a.
Acrobat has to convert a tagged PDF 1.5 document generated by indesign to PDF/A1a.
If anyone could explain the errors to me:
    - Structured PDF : Type entry in a structure element not "StructElem"
    - Structured PDF : Type entry missing
...this would also be greatly appreciated so i can narrow my search.
Since you guys are the PDF experts and Acrobat does the conversion i believe this forum is the place to find answers.
(Also the problem has already been presented on the indesign-forum: http://forums.adobe.com/message/1959226#1959226 where the advise was to pose the question here)

  • Adobe Reader does not automatically associate with PDF files in Xp Sp3

I have reinstalled Reader (twice) and it does not automatically associate with PDF files.
How do I fix this problem?
    Cheers, JH

The thing is, when I right click a pdf file, and then go to properties, change default program to open with, select browse, I select it in the correct folder, when I click open, it doesnt open and the programs stay blank, so I cant select anything. There is nothing to select. And I have re-installed. But at the end of the install there are no options what file types to associate with. Any way to do it inside Reader?
I have reader 9.2.0. and Win7 up to date. When I'm opening and closing allot of files the whole time, I don't want to do inside reader. Help please?

  • Using Adobe Pro X I cannot create a PDF from a web page.

After a recent upgrade from a previous version of Firefox, I am now unable to create a PDF from a web page using the Adobe Pro toolbar on the web page.  A "save as" box appears and then the conversion process dies.  I can print the page using Adobe Pro as my printer and it works fine. I can create other docs with Adobe Pro.   How do I fix this on my browser?
    Thanks.

  • Acrobat Hangs Creating PDF from Word Doc - Possible Solution

For the last several months, I had been working on converting a 20MB Word document into a PDF. The Word doc has external hyperlinks as well as many internal hyperlinks. It also has many sections and uses the TOC generator. I found that when I converted it to a PDF, whether I was using PDF Maker in Word or directly in Acrobat, the process would hang. In Acrobat it would hang either at 5% or 10%. In Word, the hang would occur before it processed the bookmarks.
I believe I found the solution. When using PDF Maker, you are prompted about SmartTagging the document and how it can be time consuming. I always selected "No". Apparently, even with selecting "No", just having this prompt appear is part of the problem. When I went into the settings for PDF Maker and turned off SmartTagging there, so that when creating the PDF you are not prompted, the PDF creation is successful everytime.
It took me many months of aggravation before I discovered this fix. I can replicate the issue everytime I let it prompt me about SmartTagging, so there is definitely some quirk going on there.

I can not create a .PDF file from a 2007 word.docx file.  I have tried a few different word docs, including a document I created just to trouble shoot with.
I tried opening the .docx in Word and then going PRINT - ADOBE PDF.  When I do this 'nothing' happens. No dialogue box opens, nada.
When I open Adobe Acrobat and try to 'create' I get this error: "Adobe acrobat could not open"name.docx" because it is not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged...".

  • Moving album with PDF from one machine to another...PDF won't import

I downloaded an album in iTunes 7 on my MacBook Pro and copied the album folder over to my Mac Pro once it was done downloading. I then dragged the folder into iTunes 7 on the Mac Pro and all 12 songs copied into the library, but the PDF will not import. It's there in the folder, but will not import into the Mac Pro iTunes library. Anyone else have this problem? Anyone know of a solution? It shows up in the library of the machine I downloaded it on just fine.

    Hello MacEnstien
I read your response to the previous question. And I have a similar problem. When I did the "Save As" I collected the files. Dropped them onto my external drive and dumped them on my laptop. And on my laptop when I open the project everything works but I can't see the video clip? What should I do?

  • Why is the tab name showing the old file type when I try to download a pdf from our wordpress sites?

We have two wordpress sites. On each site we have uploaded some pdf files that viewers can download. I noticed that when you try to download a pdf file the tab name that appears when you click "Download" is not the same as the filename. For instance: when I try to download a pdf file titled "Weekly Retail Skeptic". In firefox - the tab name will say "Microsoft Word - Note_2013_0523_Skeptic - Note_0523_Skeptic.pdf". It seems like the browser is reading what the file was before it was converted to a pdf.
I have tried both "print to pdf" in word as well as converting the word document to a pdf document using Acrobat.

  • Printing PDF from IE with Adobe Reader - extra white space at top of page

I searched the forums far and wide but did not find this question or information to answer it.  If it's out there, I'd be much obliged if you'd point me in the right direction.
A user of the web app for which I do tech support just called to say that starting today, whenever he opened a PDF from our app (in IE), the PDF looks fine on screen but when he prints the PDF, every page has extra blank/white space inserted at the top, which cuts off the bottom inch or two of each page.
No other users have called with this complaint, and if changes to our app or an automatic background Adobe Reader or IE update caused this problem, I would have heard from many users.  I have a sneaking suspicion I have heard about this from other users, but since troubleshooting their IE or Adobe isn't exactly my job, I don't know if I did any more than advise them to talk to their tech support people.
I can't recreate his problem (read: it works fine for me), but I'd like to help him.  Can anyone think of a reason why this might be happening?
    Thanks in advance.

What I know:  He's using Adobe Reader X.  I do not know if it's the most recent version.  The problem only exists with PDFs from our web app; he's not having trouble with other sites or with other PDFs.
I do not have a copy of the PDF; I can't give you the copy I downloaded when I logged into his account because there is proprietary confidential information on it, but everything worked fine for me and he's the only user with this complaint, so I believe it's related to his PC or printer, not to our app or to Adobe per se.
I sent him email asking for more information, but I do not know what printer he's using.  I don't even know what version of Windows he's running.
Based on some info from Adobe, I suggested he make sure he's using the most recent version (10.1.2), try 'print as image" to see if that's any more successful, and make sure his printer drivers are up to date.
Given the nature of tech support, if he solves the problem or finds a workaround he's happy with, I may never hear from him again to know.  I just wanted to know if this was a known issue and what recommended resolutions for it might be.  Having not found anything on the web at large, I figured the Adobe forums would be a good place to ask.
Thanks for the time you took to answer.

  • Adobe pro 9 perflight is giving  errors while  verify compilance with PDF/A-1a , but adobe pro 8 is not giving errors?

    Hi,
Iam using preflight in adobe professional 9 to verify compilance with PDF/A-1a.  Iam getting the following errors:
1.In an indirect object keyword "obj" is not accurately followed by an EOL marker. This is explicitly prohibited by some PDF-based iso standards.
2.In structured PDF the document's structure is described by a hierarchy of objects. Each element is described by a dictionay of type"strucElem".
But in the Adobe professional 8 iam no getting any errors for the same file...
Please help me why iam getting errors in version 9 only? why those errors are not  showing in version 8?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Pathap.

Acrobat 9's preflight is a complete implementation of PDF/A validation,
while Acrobat 8's was missing some of the lower level tests.

  • Creating PDF from Office 20101 Hangs

  • Adobe reader 11.0.5 - cannot print pdf file to network printer

I have a 64 bit HP Pavilion a6230n PC running Windows 7, fully updated. I have wireless connection to a home file/printer server. My printer, a Brother HL-5140, is connected via USB to the file/printer server. All my other Windows programs capable of printing can print on the network printer - all except adobe reader. Adobe Reader sees the printer and all printing processes appear to be sending the file to the printer, however, the printer never gets the document. I've tried printing as a document, in which case the document sits in the printer queue until I delete it. If I send it as an image, each queue entry is deleted after adobe thinks it has printed. Again, nothing ever prints on the printer, and again, no other program running on my computer has any problems printing to this printer.
I would appreciate any help with this problem.
    Addendum - 4 Nov 13:
I uninstalled adobe reader 11 and installed a much earlier version, and now I can print pdf files. Clearly the printing issue is with the current versions of adobe reader.

This phenomenon can happen with PDF files that have errors in them.  Adobe Reader or Acrobat may be able to fix these errors, but if you close the application, it will ask to save the corrected file.  If you save it once, that should no longer occur when you open it again.
This is just one explanation, but it doesn't explain why that happens with every PDF you have.
Test: does it also happen with a PDF that is not supposed to contain any errors: http://helpx.adobe.com/pdf/adobe_reader_reference.pdf ?

  • Help! How to e-mail a PDF (from Pages) with active web links!

I have been working on this for hours without any success! I would be so grateful for a brainy Apple wiz to help me out. I am creating a Pages document that has active web links in it. My goal is to e-mail my document with the active web links in it.
So - If I export my Pages doc as a PDF to my desktop, the links work great! However - the moment I put that PDF into an email and send it the links become inactive. Is there any way to create a Pages document with web links > Export it as a PDF > Then mail with active (clickable) links? I have tried many times without success.
If the answer to my question is no, does anyone have a tip for where I can create a PDF and mail it with active links? Will any of the Adobe programs work for this type of thing?
    Thanks so much!!
    Kristen

    Using Pages '09 v4.2.
I just tested this. Assumption: You have the “Windows friendly attachments” checked in the attachments panel.
Your Pages document is open. The web links are active. You want to get it into Mail.
From the Pages menu bar, choose Share > Send Via Mail > PDF.
Mail will open with a compose window. Your PDF will be attached as a full view document. You see the links present in the PDF.
Now, click near the web links. This shows your PDF in blue. Now right-button click, and choose View as Icon from the pop-up panel.
Now mail it to yourself on another account that Mail can open.
You will see the web links in the PDF.
Right-button click on a link and from the pop-up menu, choose Open with Safari.
If you chose Quick Look, it would pop open the PDF and offer to open it further in your default PDF viewer. In my case, it is Adobe Reader.
If Reader opens this PDF from the Mail attachment, the web links remain active.
    Does this solve your issue?
