ADPrep Migration from Windows Server 2003 to 2012 Foundation Server fails with error 0x80004005

Hi all,
Having a problem the forums and Google have been unsuccessful in helping me with. Server is Windows 2003 R2, migrating to Windows Server 2012 foundation.  Have tried the AD Migration on the new 2012 Foundation server both as a standalone server
and a domain server member before running the migration.  I get the following error:
ADPrep execution failed --> System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception (0x80004005): A device attached to the system is not functioning
I've checked the ADprep logs and have found the following:
[2013/01/22:11:15:01.000]

Hi Biswajit et. al., thanks for your help thus far, it is greatly appreciated...
Unfortunately I had already disabled the NIC's on both hosts.  They currently remain disabled.  I've just tried turning off IPv6 as well and no luck.
PortQry came back fine (I think) :)

  • SQL Server Agent job between 2 instances fails with Error 18456 - Login Failed for user

    Hi,
    SQL Server version: 2012 EE
    OS: Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise
In my server, i have 2 instances, and I am trying to configure a SQL Server Agent job to query one table in Instance A, and insert some modified data in Instance B, both in the same server.
When i execute the job in instance A, i get the following error:
Executed as user: NT SERVICE\SQLSERVERAGENT. Login Failed for user "NT SERVICE\SQLSERVERAGENT". [SQLSTATE 28000] (Error 18456). The step failed.
I have already configure instance A as Master and disabled encryption, by changing the parameter MsxEncryptChannelOptions to 0 in regedit. I've also made my target instance (instance B) as a Target.
    What am i missing?
Thanks for your attention and pacience

    Hello,
The NT SERVICE\SQLSERVERAGENT (virtual) account is not available on the other as you just mentioned. That is the reason for the login
failed error. Try using a Windows login as the
SQL Server Agent service account in both servers, the same Windows login (not a virtual account), and run jobs as the “sa” account.
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms345578.aspx
You can also try a proxy account.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-US/library/ms190698(v=SQL.105).aspx
    Hope this helps.

    Hi,
From your error message, it's related to Windows update. Thus firstly please run this "Fix it" tool:
Windows Update error "0x80070002" or "0x80070003"
    https://support.microsoft.com/kb/910336?wa=wsignin1.0
Meanwhile, run WSRESET.EXE to clear Windows Store cache and remove other security applications and proxy to try again.
If it persists, upload the whole latest setuperr.log for further research.

  • Creating a Linked Report in SC 2012 - Operations Manager fails with Error

    Hello everyone,
I was trying to create a linked report based on an availability report recently. I found Emre Guclu's scom linked report creation guide here:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/emreguclu/archive/2011/10/13/using-linked-reports-in-scom-to-create-custom-availability-reports-for-specified-monitors.aspx
I go to SSRS web console and select a report (Which is Microsoft.SystemCenter.DataWarehouse.Availability in Microsoft.SystemCenter.Datawarehouse.Reports), select "Create a Linked Report" from context menu, select another location for storing the
report just like on this guide but i get an error rsWrongItemType with exact text:
"The operation you are attempting on item ' Microsoft.SystemCenter.Datawarehouse.Reports/ Microsoft.SystemCenter.Datawarehouse.Availability' is not allowed for this item type. rsWrongItemType"
Does anyone know why is this error happening and better how to fix this?
Below is the screenshot of SSRS.

    Hi,
Please check the report path you have set, the location must specify the full report path, such as
    /custom report folder/MyReport.

  • Upgrade to Windows 10 failed with error 80070714. Please Help!!!

Hi. I hope someone out there can help me!! I have tried numerous times to upgrade my HP Envy 15-K204NA from Windows 8.1 64-bit to Windows 10 Home, but it continues to fail with error code 80070714. I am using Bullguard Premium Protection and have Acronis True Image installed. I have disabled SQL services as suggested by other posts on the internet, but nothing seems to work. When I run the upgrade from a DVD burned from the ISO, it gets to 37% and then fails. Hope you can help. • I can register an OCX file in Windows 7 x64 without incident but with Windows 7 x32 I get a p-up that says "DllRegisterServer failed with error code: 0x80004005. What gives???

Hey yeah.  not much else to say.  The title says it all.
I'm trying to register an OCX file that my video editing application requires to work properly.
I'm using a  Registry (Regsvr32 and Regsvr64) tool to Register DLL/OCX files.  Both bit Registry tools work fine. I can Register any DLL or OCX file with Windows 7 x64 and everything goes smoothly.
But, when in Windows 7 x32, again, no problem with merging the Regsvr32 tool, but when I go to register the OCX file message says it was loaded but the DllRegisterServer failed with error: 0x80004005.
Why does everything work in Windows 7 RC 7100 x64 but not in Windows 7 RC 7100 x32???GA P35 DQ6 Mb, Intel Wolfdale 8600 3.33Ghz C2D CPU., 4x2Gb Mushkin DDR2 1066 PC2 8500 Ascents Memory Mods., PNY-nVidia GE Force 8800 GTS (640MB), 4-Western Digital Caviar SATA(2) HDD's (internal), 1 EIDE-USB External; Hauppauge PVR 1600 TV tuner, Dual Monitor: (1) Standard up top, (1) WideScreen below; Altec Lansing Speakers. Here Kitty, Kitty...that's my Kitty Kat, he's a Kat, because he is kat...kat.

    I don't know what happened.
My Video Editing software was working fine a few days ago in Windows 7 x64.  Tried using it this morning....couldn't load the .mpg video clip.  Just stood there looking stupid like it does in the 32-bit version of Windows 7.
I was hoping the x64 version of Windows 7 RC 7100 was going to make a decent run against my XP Pro SP3 setup. When I was able to register the required .ocx file for the video editing application, I thought "cool".  I made a TV recording then used the Video Editor to edit it and it worked fine.  Earlier this morinng I made another TV recording, went to go edit it and the video editing application couldn't load the .mpg file at all.  This problem just annihilated any chance of me ever purchasing Windows 7, 32 or 64-bit.GA P35 DQ6 Mb, Intel Wolfdale 8600 3.33Ghz C2D CPU., 4x2Gb Mushkin DDR2 1066 PC2 8500 Ascents Memory Mods., PNY-nVidia GE Force 8800 GTS (640MB), 4-Western Digital Caviar SATA(2) HDD's (internal), 1 EIDE-USB External; Hauppauge PVR 1600 TV tuner, Dual Monitor: (1) Standard up top, (1) WideScreen below; Altec Lansing Speakers. • DTM install fails with error 1935 on Windows 7

Trying to install DTM 600_b047 on a Windows 7 64-bit system.  Install fails with
Error 1935 and HRESULT= 80073712. Have tried to run via Run As Administrator.  It seems to get most of the way through before failing.  (Without Run As Admin, it fails much earlier complaining about a cab file not found.)
    Any ideas?

    Hey adairlw,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
What security software is currently installed on the computer?
Also can I get you to re-name the install shield folder which is located under C:\Program files\common files.  Once you re-name the folder, then try to install the software.
I look forward to your reply.

    Hi Microsoft Team,
We need your urgent advice and that is also on priority:
Issue Description: We need to migrate from
WINDOW SERVER 2003 to WINDOW SERVER 2012 while the development activity will be carried
under WINDOW SERVER 2008 as DEVELOPMENT BOX.
.NET Framework Version: 3.5 ( For both DEVLOPMENT(WINDOW SERVER 2008) and WEBSERVER(to WINDOW SERVER 2012))
IIS Version: 7.5 (For both DEVLOPMENT(WINDOW SERVER 2008) and WEBSERVER(to WINDOW SERVER 2012))
Need your quick advice Is that configuration feasible for Development and
    Deployment (Web Server).
Highly appreciate your response as this will depend which product we need to buy also if you feel any showstopper or concern. Please let us know.

    Hi,
As suggested by Tim, in order to get better assistance, we can ask for help in the following IIS forum.

  • MDT 2012 to Migrate from Windows 2003 32 Bit to Windows 2012 R2 64 Bit

I have used MDT for so long however only for client OS upgrade - XP to Windows 7/8.
We wish to use MDT to migrate from Windows 2003 32 Bit to Windows 2012 R2 64 Bit. All servers are virtual on HyperV or VMWare - plan is to use USMT hardlink Migration.
Is this supported? Has anyone used this for server migration?
Regards, Vik Singh "If this thread answered your question, please click on "Mark as Answer"

    Thanks Keith for your reply.
Even is USMT does not work, we are ok. SMIGdeploy will be helpful.
Basically, want MDT to run some scripts on the Windows 2003 server, post which install Windows 2012 and join it to the existing domain with the same computer name.
Then hydration kit to help with the installation of features etc. Also, we would like to take a complete backup to a WIM before migrating.
I am sure this is workable.

    1. This seems to be incomplete description.
    2. You can enable legacy technologies while installing roles and features.
    3. For application pool(s) you should consult respective developer/vendor team(s) for help.

  • Migrate MOSS 2007 Server from Server 2003 (32-bit) to Server 2008

I have a client with MOSS 2007 installed on Windows Server 2003, and a database server (SQL 2005) also on Server 2003. they have two new Windows Server 2008 servers, and they wish to do a migration.  They have custom Features, including Event Receivers
    installed in their environment.
Do I need to install the 32-bit edition of MOSS 2007 on the new server in order to be able to use the pre-compiled custom Features used in the current server?
My plan is to do the following:
    (a)  Migrate databases from current database server (SQL 2005) to new database server (SQL 2008),
    (b)  Re-assign SQL redirection to new database server (the database was previously on the same box as the WFE, and this was separated out last year to another server, but redirecting the SQL Server,
    (c)  Install MOSS 2007 (32-bit) on the other new server
    (d)  Patch both instances of MOSS 2007 to the same point
    (e)  Create (dummy) site collection on new server, and install all custom Features on server
    (f)  Add new server to existing Farm
    (g)  Remove previous server from Farm
What must I do to install existing custom Features on new server?
Is there anything that I have left out of the process?  Do I need to do anything about the SSP running on the current server?

    Thanks Keith for your reply.

  • Migrate from Server 2003 (no Exchange, single server) to SBS 2011

Are there any Technets or other Microsoft documentation on migrating from Server 2003 (no Exchange, single server) to SBS 2011?  I understand it is possible, but I would like confirmation and some documentation before purchasing the appropriate hardware
    and licenses.
    Thanks,
    Doug
    Doug Orr

    Hi Doug,
In general, the migration is the similar with migrating process from SBS 2003. In addition, also have main
    difference.
“The main difference is that you don’t have to remove the source and that you have to follow the migration
instructions as the SBS migration wizard will not launch.”
You can get above description from following similar thread. Please refer to.
Migrate from Windows Server Standard 2003 (not SBS) to SBS 2011

Meanwhile, please refer to the following article. It may be helpful.
Step By Step Guide To Migrating To SBS 2011

Please Note: Since the web site is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice. Microsoft
does not guarantee the accuracy of this information.
However, as Robert suggests, would you please confirm specific version of SBS? It may help us to understand
    clearly and provide correct information.
    Hope this helps.

  • OS Migration from Windows 2003 cluster  to Windows 2008 R2 MSCS

We want to go for windows 2008 R2 server ( 64-Bit)  MSCS by migrating from windows 2003 Cluster ( 32- Bit) . We are running on ECC 6.0 and oracle 10.2.0.2 DB.
    Is it possible ?
Is it traditional System copy if so how to migrate the cluster ?
    Regards

    > 2. If the oracle version is 10.2.0.2 then does it will support Windows 2008 R2.
You need at least 10.2.0.4 (you need to install that version with a separate DVD, you can't install with the normal Oracle DVD (10.2.0.1). See
Note 1303262 - Oracle on Windows Server 2008
Be aware of the fact that the normal standard support for 10.2.x is ending at end of july (you'll have to pay an extra maintenance fee if you continue to run that version) - see
Note 1110995 - Extended maintenance for Oracle Version 10.2
So if you now do a system copy to new hardware with a new os anyway, I would upgrade to 11.2.

  • How to migrate windows server 2003 to 2008 live server

How to migrate windows server 2003 to 2008 live server without shutdown could anyone explain me ?
Thanks & Regards, Amol . Amol Dhaygude

I don't think you can do it without a shutdown. This also depends on the types of services, roles etc hosted on the server.
