Advanced password protection with a quit option.

Hi all.
I want to check the password of 5 differents users.
The password apears as ******.
But I want both a quit option.
The idea is : when a user enter "quit" or "QUIT" the vi stop and pass a boolean to 1 (used in an other vi...)
I have try to do this, but some problem appears.
***First : the vi run correctly till it but (run it 10 times and the problem will appears I think)
***Second : I try to display quit with normal letters and the correct passwords with *** letters... but it doesn't work : if I type quit, and then delete it and type my password, I see my password in normal letters...
Can you help me please?
I have search in the existing topics but find nothing corresponding exactly to what I wa
nt to do....

It's not common to use the password input to exit applications.
Sticking to a more standard behaviour and have an exit button instead is always good, it will make it easier for the user to anticipate how things are to work (no need to write an explanation on the panel...). I have attached a slightly modified version of the VI.
Some other tips:
Try to avoid the caps lock so much and stick to the dialog controls if you want the software to look professional.
Let the sub-VI connectors follow a from left to right design (inputs on the left, outputs on the right). It's often convenient to always use the same connector panel, e.g. to standardize on the 20 connector option. That way adding inputs and/or outputs later will not require a change.
On
ly use sequences when they are needed (lot's of messages on why here on the zone), in the password example you can use data flow instead.
Hightlight the password input so that the user can start typing in the password straight away. In the attached example highlighting when the password is found to be incorrect would also be nice, but hightlighting and events are not always good friends it seems.
Windows can often look better if you use the "Golden Cut" by the way, i.e. make the relationship between the width and hight of the windows equal to 1,618 ("Phi").

Forgive me if this is a dumb question. I am have never done this before and haven't been able to find out how to do this. I want to send some xml (passportRequest) to a server that is listening. The hard part is this server is password protected with htaccess. I have the username and password and I tried adding it to the url (ie https://user:password@server....) but not luck. How do i set password protection with new software

now that i have updated my imac software to 10.8.3 and updated my airport software as well, it seems that i no longer can password protect my wifi connection. i'm sure that there must be a way. can you help?

The easiest remedy will be use another Mac that has an older version of the operating system installed to administer the older AirPort Extreme.
Unfortunatey, Apple dropped support for the older AirPorts in the Mountain Lion operating system.
If you do not have another Mac to administer the older AirPort, there is a workaround that you may be able to use to install a version of AirPort Utilty on Mountain Lion that will work on Mountain Lion. I need to explain that Apple does not support this, so results cannot be guaranteed.

Not possible with Acrobat alone, but with a DRM system on your PDF (License Server etc.) you can expire documents as and when you like.

Can't password protect email program with Lion

Since upgrading to Lion I cannot seem to password protect my email. I have several accounts that show in the email app. Is there a way to have a single password that will open the email program on my iMac. Many thanks in advance.

Password Protecting Forms on LiveCycle

Hello,
I have a form that will be used by multiple users. These users will fill in data, then submit a pdf via email. I need these pdf's to be password protected with a specific password for each report, but not a random generated one...they will enter the information that will be included in the password, on the form.
So, preferably, I would like them to be able to enter information into fields, then click a submit button. This would start a process of using information in the fields to create the password. Is this possible?
If not, the second option would be to have the users manually type in the password each time they submit...I do not know how to accomplish this either.

* if you HAVE the password you can remove it with Acrobat Pro
* you can ask the document's creator for an unprotected file
Sometimes passwords are added automatically and not known, for example some banks do this; there is no solution.

That is simply because you have checked an option to remember the password. Open Mail preferences, click on the Accounts icon in the toolbar. In the dialog under your username you should see your password (not displayed.) Remove the password entry. From now on Mail will prompt for a password before attempting to fetch mail. This does not mask the Inbox in any way but it does prevent anyone from getting new mail without a password. There is no direct way to actually password protect the entire Inbox.
I'm still not clear as to why you need to do this or what specifically you want to accomplish. I don't know if simply logging out of your account when you aren't by the computer would not satisfy your security need or requiring a password to wake up the computer via the screensaver. Maybe you could explain things more to us.

Password protect, no. OSX per se does not offer that functionality by itself.
However, if you select the document and do a Get Info (command i) you can change the permissions so that only your account has read and write permissions. Then you'd only have to make sure nobody else knows your password.

Password protecting history and removal of private browsing

I am wondering if I can password protect the browsing history on this phone so it cannot be deleted without my permission. I would also like to remove or password protect the private browsing option... is this possible? Last of all can you hide or password the app store? I don't want to make addition users or lock up my entire phone just make it so it cannot be used inappropriately.

You probably have '''Automatically start Firefox in a Private Browsing session''' selected in the Privacy tab in Options. That will cause those Tools menu items to be greyed-out. And when using that Option the (Private Browsing) line doesn't show in the Titlebar.

How can I set up SMB file sharing to share my PC external hard drive on my Mac with no password protection?

I am having the worst trouble with two things. I am very aware how to get the server to show up via SMB, but every time I log off the Macbook, the server's disappear. OK, so I went into "System Preferences" and hit "Users and Accounts" and added the server as a log in item. Worked well, except how do I stop that password prompt from coming up? I am using a Guest account with no password but I continue to get the password prompt. There is nowhere to hit remember password or anything. I have the option to remember the password in the keychain but I have no way of preventing the pop up.
Another issue I'm having is I have a Canon Pixma MP620 printer connected to my PC through USB. Three other PC's can connect wirelessly to print through the home network. My Mac does not find the printer, and when I manually add it, it recognizes it but WILL NOT print. It comes up with error messages like Authentican Required and connection issues between printers.
I have no password protection on my PC and have enabled sharing of all devices and folders through the Homegroup on the PC. I just can't figure it out. I am new to Mac and would love to get these two things figured out.

I have a WD 1TIG hard drive and are using usb connection, is it possible to use fire wire with these? I have had trouble with a lot of the videos I Imported, once they downloaded the file in the viewer window showed up blank and when I mouse over them it places a picture of another file in the window and wont drag and drop into the movie window, like their corrupted or something? Had to delete just about all of them and start again. Also is it possible to select a bunch of videos in the viewer window as to change the dates to the correct dates? All I have been able to do is "select all" which is no help.

On the File menu, click Save As.
On the Tools menu, click General Options.
Do either or both of the following:
If you want users to enter a password before they can view the workbook, type a password in the Password to open box, and then click OK.
If you want users to enter a password before they can save changes to the workbook, type a password in the Password to modify box.
NOTE   Unlike passwords you specify in the Password to open box, passwords you specify in the Password to modify box are not encrypted. These passwords are only meant to give specific users permission to modify workbook data. For optimal password security, it's best to assign both passwords. An encrypted password to access the workbook, and one to provide specific users with permission to modify its content. IMPORTANT   Use strong passwords that combine uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols. Weak passwords don't mix these elements. Strong password: Y6dh!et5. Weak password: House27. Use a strong password that you can remember so that you don't have to write it down.
If you want to use a different encryption type, click Advanced, click the type you want in the Choose an encryption type list, and then click OK.
If needed, specify the number of characters you want in the Choose a key length box.
NOTE   Document property encryption is enabled by default for most encryption types and providers. It prevents unauthorized users from viewing summary and custom file properties (such as the author or any custom file information) in theProperties dialog box. I can no longer access a password protected Numbers file with the correct password. Error message only says the file "cannot be opened."

I'm using Numbers version 3.2.2.
Suddenly I cannot access my password protected Numbers file with the correct password. I have the correct password written down so I know I haven't made a mistake.
The response box that pops up says that the file cannot be opened. There are no other options for me to choose from.

Also, I tried to open it through an older version of Numbers but it sent this error message.

Password protected iWeb sites - problem with login

This is an FYI regarding a problem I recently encountered. Neither MobileMe, nor Apple tech support or specialists were able to resolve it, but I finally figured it out.
I created a company website for my client, including secondary websites that were password protected in order for her clients to download support materials for her classes. The passwords worked fine last night, but this morning we could not login with the setup passwords. Even when we changed them and tried to re-upload the entire site, we could not. I don't know specifically what changed, but we went through a plethora of solutions over many hours, but to no avail.
In the end, it appears that how we setup the domain was where the problem existed. We have our own domain through Netfirms, which we set up to use in MobileMe as per the instructions. In Netfirms however, when you log into version 8, it does not give you the option to change the CNAME, as MobileMe states needs to be done. Instead I had set up the domain to forward to our "web.me.com/company" site. This was the problem.
To correct this, I turned off the url forwarding and logged out of Netfirms. Then logged back in, but into version 6 of the control panel. From here I was able to setup the CNAME as web.me.com. And ta-da, once it updated on the server the entire site and all password protected areas are working as needed.
Phew.

To password protect a site, folder or page when using a server other than MobileMe you need to either enable this in your control panel or do it using a .htaccess file.
The server side script is the most secure way to do it. There are javascripts that you can use but they are less secure.....

Send email with password protected zip file attachment

Hi Experts,
The requirement is to zip a password protected excel file and send the zipfile through email. There is no middleware(PI) involved. The program has to be run in background mode. It is possible to create a password protected excel file using OLE method, but it will not work in background mode.
Also it is possible to place the zip file in application server, but I am not able to give password for this file.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
