Advice on saving report configurations
Hey everyone.
I'm looking for some feedback on saving a report configuration. Basically I will have a series of drop downs for a report to be generated. For example on a downtime report, the user wants to generate 10 charts in the report, first chart; Line1, Unplanned Stops, Depalletizer, Feed Jam. Second chart Line 2, Scheduled Stops, PM, Conveyor, Electrical, etc etc. They will then hit the submit button where I will generate the charts for them. They want to set up the 10 charts, then "save" the configuration, so that when the user goes back to the page later, even after logging off xMII, they don't have to configure all 10 charts again.
Each of the drop downs will be data driven browser objects. I'm using xMII 11.5 My ideas for this are;
1) Save the settings to a SQL table, by username (I have about 1500 users corporate wide)
2) Cookie, this would make the report dependant on the client machine though.
3) XML file, saved by on the server (probably my least favorite option)
I was wondering if anybody has done something like this before, and what experience they have had before I commit to a design. I'm open to ideas.
Option #1 is the best way to have the user persistance. Having an adminstration screen for deleting and/or viewing other user created reports then becomes as simple as an SQLQuery with an iGrid and iCommand.

Jeremy

Report Designer - Error while opening a saved report
Hi,
I am not sure if this is an authorization issue or configuration issue.
When I try to open a saved report on Report designer, I keeping getting an error: Report Version is invalid: "0".
Has anybody faced similar problem?
We are on SP09.
Regards,
Payal.Payal,
I am afraid, that your report might be corrupted. This might have happened, if in tx SE16 the version is changed. The Report XML displayed in SE16 for table RSERDATA, is limited to ca. 1024 charachters. When editing the version, after pressing the save button, the Report XML is cut off at 1024 charachters and the report is lost.
Please do not set the report version in tx SE16!
I will need to configure the program RS_REPORT_MAINTAIN, such that reports with version "0" can be saved with the minimum version 9.0.
Until then I recommend the following procedure for Reports that are ok, but have the Version "0" bug:
1) in tx SE38, program: RS_REPORT_MAINTAIN
open your report with option "DT" (designtime)
2) Switch to Edit mode.
Make a backup copy of the report using the "Save As" Button.
You can copy the Report XML to the clipboard using Ctrl-A, Ctrl-C
3a) Open a dummy report in RS_REPORT_MAINTAIN created previously with
Report Desginer ( --> The version is set to 9.0).
Switch to edit mode and paste the Report XML and Save.
or
3b) Debug FUNCTION rs_bex_report_load_rfc.
Open a report and change the value of E_REPORT_VERSION to "9.0"
before leaving the function.
Hope this helps, karim
P.S.
I will update note 1016224 -
How to hide saved report filter condition
Hello,
I create an IR report and pre-create some saved report.
I would like to hide filter condition when end-user select one report on the list so that he/she cannot see and delete the condition.
Is there anyway to do that?
Thank you.Another approach:
Open view CRM_WORKAREAHDR/WorkAreaHeader and change the configuration. There is a button in the bar named "Attributes" (probably hidden under MORE).
Once in there in edit mode substitute the content of attribute "UI_COMPONENT_3". It should be
Window=CRM_ALLSEARCHES.CRM_ALLSEARCHES/LauncherWindow;horizontalAlignment=right;
put there a
Width=0px;
The other way using business role is fine as well.

HELP IR Download filtered saved report to CSV
Hi there
My enquiry is to do with the saved reports feature in Interactive Reports Apex 4.1
I create a default IR report and then I subsequently define a filter on this report effectively limiting the displayed output to the rows of data I want to see. I then save the report which is now a 'private' report. If I run the 'saved' (with the filter condition) IR report it displays the data correctly, with the 'saved' report displaying the correct data on the screen I then click Actions->Download and then select CSV - the entire 'primary' report is downloaded -- The filter is ignored!!! Surely the Actions->Download should 'know' that I want download the report that's being displayed (just run) on the screen?
I think that when you click on the CSV icon the report is re-submitted - How can I get the CSV download to apply the filter that I've defined in the saved report.
I've searched this forum and found the following similar question being asked
Re: Problem with export from a saved interactive report
Interactive Report Download to csv problem
how to download only filtered data in csv?
Re: Download Saved Report in IR 4.1
Thanks in advance
PS: Is the above an undocumented feature of Apex IR Reports?
Edited by: boketi on Sep 25, 2012 7:05 AMHi Sathish,
Thanks for your comment.
I agree with just a 'default' report the CSV download always gives what is displayed on the screen. If you then define another report with a filter condition and run this 'private' report 'sometimes' the CSV download gives the origional primary report, ignoring the filter condition. Please see the attached links as other people are also getting the same problem. -
IR Saved Report - Download to CSV downloads Primary Report
Hi there
I'm using Apex 4.1, I login to my Apex application NOT using the developer interface (the developer buttons are not visable at the base of the page) as an end user would see.
If I run an IR report and then create a filter on the Primary report the report runs OK. I then click Actions -> Download and then Download the report output to a CSV file (correctly filtered) to a Excel spreadsheet. I then Save this report giving the report a Name and Description. I then logoff from the Apex application. So far so good.
I then login back on to my Apex Application. When I choose and run the Saved Report (described above - not the Primary report) the saved report runs correctly (applying the correct filter condition), HOWEVER when I then click on Actions - Download I seem to get the Primary report downloaded as a CSV file into my Excel spreadsheet - the filter condition that is applied to the saved rerport is ignored for the Downloaded CSV file. The File Downloaded is a new CSV file generated in Apex as reported in my Firefox 'Downloads' list.
Does anyone know if this is a Bug or have I not set up the IR correctly.
Thanks in Advance

Hi Mehabub,
Many thanks for the quick response.
Did you test this in version 4.1 of Apex? I logged on to Oracle's 4.2 Early Adopter Beta Site and did the same and the IR works fine! Maybe it's a strange problem in 4.1 although I doubt it as with such a problem there would be a lot more noise on this forum. Could this be related to the 'theme' that I'm using? As the theme I'm using was origionally developed for Apex 3.2 and I don't think IR reports were around in 3.2?There is a good chance that it has to do with the theme or the upgrade from Apex 3.2. Interactive reports existed in 3.2 also user defined reports. But a lot of changes were made to the IR logic since 3.2 (introduction of multple standard reports, etc.).
I just tested your case in my Apex 4.1.1 version in an application that was also upgraded from 3.2. And the data was stored correctly into a csv file.
But it is useing one of the standard themes that was also updated.
Did you set the compatibility mode of your application to 4.1?
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23903_01/doc/doc.41/e21676/apex_util.htm#AEAPI2329
begin
apex_util.set_compatibility_mode(<application id>, '4.1');
commit;
end; Just because the environment is Apex 4.1 does not mean you application runs in 4.1. mode. -
I have two faults! 1, an error comes up in Ps CC 2014 "could not apply the saved panel configuration, restring to default and my tools have disappeared completely and anything ive tried I cannot get them back not even the drop down menu in 'window' helps at all. And 2, Lr everytime I load it up it gives me the option to retry or switch to and it takes a while for me to even get anywhere with it I think it has something to do with the catalogs? I've been using these programs for a few years now on a Mac...no problem but when I use a PC when I'm away coz it's the (only) comp available these happen PC's are so useless! Please can anyone help??...
I can give a few suggestions on Photoshop CC 2014, but Lightroom is a separate forum and you should ask Lr questions there.
First close Photoshop.
Then start Photoshop by double-clicking on it's icon and very quickly after that, hold down the ctrl-alt-shift keys until you see the reset dialog. answer "Yes" to delete settings, and let Photoshop continue to load.
It's tricky to do and may take a few tries, but at least it should reset Photoshop CC 2014 to defaults.

Interactive Filter Saved Report Subscription by Email
Hi
I did Interactive filter and saved a report. The interactive filter is performed between start and end date with a location details. I would like to have a custom header with title like this
Data is obtained at Location Name from <start> and <end> date. This saved report is send to few people every day.
The date, location name are present in the result set of the report. What is the best way to achieve this custom header in saved reports?
Thanks
RajHi Raj,
You don't be able to do that with he current apex subscription functionality, however you could write a simple plslq block to send the formatted email which looks same as interactive report.
Look at this thread and the links inside them

When navigating back to a page with an IR, a different Saved Report shown
I have a page with an interactive report. I have several saved reports. One column has a link to another page in the application with address details. When I follow the link I correctly see the page. I click the "Back" button on the browser to get back to the interactive report. At this time, the saved report that is selected may not be the same as the one that was selected before I clicked the link.
How can I tell the currently displayed report id so that I can use that to populate an Item to be linked used as the Report ID Item?
Thanks,
Dannythe folks at Spashtop sent me a note indicating that its possible to get it to work remotely but they werent particularly clear as to how - especially with an aitport express

Oracle 11g Fusion Middleware (11.1.1.3.0) Report Configuration Issue
=============================================
Hi All,
I have installed Oracle 11g Fusion Middleware (11.1.1.3.0) on Oracle Linux 5 and getting some issues while configuring. What's happening is that when I run my report, it looks for the library attached to it. If I define the REPORTS_PATH in reports.sh, it works fine.
What I want to achieve is to push reports to use REPORTS_PATH environment variable from rwserver.conf instead of reports.sh
Someone told me to remove the REPORTS_PATH from reports.sh and add the REPORTS_PATH from reports.sh to a default.env in rwserver.conf, but it didn't worked.
What I know about the report server stuff in 11g Fusion Middleware is that it consists of two different servers (Standalone and In Process). Our application runs report using SRW.RUN_REPORT which basically use In Process report server setting in rwserver.conf to run the report.
The heirarchy in which reports try to look for the REPORTS_PATH is
1) REPORTS.sh
2) rwserver.conf
3) Settings as per Oracle Enterprise Manager Configuration Settings.
My standalone report server name is ReportsServer_hostname_asinst_F and the In Process Server name is rep_wls_reports_hostname_asinst_frd. When I define rep_wls_reports_hostname_asinst_frd (In process Report Server Name) for the server name parameter, I do not get any results for the report run using srw.run_report. Also I can't see the reason behind the report executed because of the following issue
http://hostname:8888/reports/rwservlet/showjobs?server=rep_wls_reports_hostname_asinst_frd
REP-51019: System user authentication is missing.
** the Singlesignon in rwservlet.properties is defined as no
But when I define ReportsServer_hostname_asinst_F (Standalone Report Server Name) as server parameter and ran the report using srw.run_report, I get result with the REPORTS_PATH defined in reports.sh not using rwserver.conf file.
http://hostname:8888/reports/rwservlet/showjobs?server=ReportsServer_hostname_asinst_F
(which shows the report just run).
Can someone who did Report Server configuration using ENV files (changing rwserver.conf), pls. send me the screenshots. Want to make sure if I am changing the correct files under correct location.
Pls. feel free to ask me questions related to the environment set up.
ThanksYour question belongs in {forum:id=84}

Download Saved Report in IR 4.1
Hi,
I have a query regarding saved reports feature in Interactive reports 4.1
I saved a normal report by adding some control breaks etc and make it more readable.
I then saved it. Now if I want to download my saved report - I can't.
It always downloads the default report layout.
Can anyone help how to do this?
Many Thanks,
JasHi Nico,
I'm using Apex 4.1.
The odd thing is that for some reports the download to csv of the 'private' report works OK, others don't work OK -- It's weird. And I'm defining the filter conditions and saving the report in the same way.
A similar post was raised by Robert G. Re: Problem with export from a saved interactive report
I appreciate your comments
Thanks

Could you please guide me to achieve this requirement. It's a lot easier to do so if the following information is provided (as has been repeatedly pointed out to you):
<li>Full APEX version
<li>Full DB/version/edition/host OS
<li>Web server architecture (EPG, OHS or APEX listener/host OS)
<li>Browser(s) and version(s) used
Sorting of the saved report list by report name was introduced in APEX 4.1. -

Report configuration failed.
Verify that SQL Server Reporting Services is installed properly and that it is running.

I feel my reporting services are installed properly and nothing is looking wrong. Any help/clue to fix this issue.
Hopes you will support.Maybe the User running Setup has no permission accessing the reporting Services.
Setup should link you to a Log File for more Information, please take a look in it

Saved reports in apex 4 vs 3. Can i back to tabbed system?
Hi, After upgrading from apex 3 to 4, i can see saved reports have a dropdown box instead a tabbed system. can i back the old tabbed system?
Should be no problem.
