AF_UNIX socket with java

Is there any way to use unix domain sockets with java ? Is it level of socket abstraction implementation to high ? I guess it's not possible to use such functionality without JNI, but if so i'll be very happy. If it's not possible to do it without JNI can you suggest some libraries ?

I really don't understand your question because based on my rudimentary socket knowledge a AF_UNIX socket is a Java socket when you are running on a Unixy system.
No?
Because Uniz sockets have two flavours socket stream (which I believe is the standard Java Socket) and datagram thingies (which are also available as DatagramSockets in Java)
So is there something I am missing here? Are these like interprocess pipes? Sorry if I am clueless but I don't understand what you are asking.

  • Using sockets with java from PL/SQL in Oracle 8.1.7 DBA

    Hey all,
    I've been struggling for a couple of weeks now with a problem. I wrote a framework around a toolkit which makes socket connections to another server. I am attempting to use the framework from within a PL/SQL script, which is calling the framework class files which have been loaded into Oracle 8.1.7 database. The problem seems to be if I grant all permissions, or socket permissions for all hosts/ports, or even the ones I know about are being used, I get a hang when trying to connect. The funny thing is, using the toolkit, if I invoke their classes directly within code written from Oracle's code editor, it will work.
    I suspect there is
    a) Some hidden permission issue
    b) A bug in the sockets implementation Oracle is using for their JVM.
    Can anyone offer insight to this problem?
    Thanks,

    Hello,
    I'm trying to investigate the same thing.
    I want to make a soap-client with PL/SQL with 8i 8.1.6.0.0
    Did you succeed some additional information ??
    I tried to run the following example:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/webservices/htdocs/samples/dbwebservice/DBWebServices_PLSQL.html
    but it only works with 9i.
    With 8i the errors encountered were : XMLTYPE undefined
    Perhaps if we find the definition of XMLTYPE and we process it to 8i we'll be able to run the example ??

  • How to control tcp connection with java tcp socket programing ??

    Hi,
    I am connecting a server as using java socket programming.
    When server close the connection (socket object) as using close() method ,
    I can not detect this and My program continue sending data as if there is a connection with server.
    How to catch the closing connection ( socket ) with java socket programming.
    My Client program is as following :
    import java.io.PrintWriter;
    import java.net.Socket;
    public class client
      public client()
       * @param args
      public static void main(String[] args)
        Socket socket=null;
        PrintWriter pw=null;
        try
                          socket = new Socket("localhost",5555);
                          pw = new PrintWriter(socket.getOutputStream(),true);
                          int i=0;
                          while (true)
                            i++;
                            pw.println(i+". message is being send.");
                            Thread.sleep(5000);
        } catch (Exception ex)
                          ex.printStackTrace();
        } finally
                          try

  • Problem with Java Proxy and Socket Connection

    Hi Gurus!!
    I have developed a Java Proxy that connects via socket with a Server Socket application. This Server Socket application accepts more than one connection at the same time.
    When I connect the first time from my Java Proxy, the connection is correctly established. When the first connection opened, if a try a second connection, this is not established.
    I use "new Socket(SocketServer,SocketPort);" to open the connection.
    I think that all time the Java Proxy is trying to open the same connection, and this is a problem.
    Is there a way to indicate to the server that is a new connection and that the existing connections remain?
    Anybody could help me, please?
    Thanks and regards,
    Manuel Míguez.

    Sorry!!!!i must give you more information.

  • Connection refused with java, but not javaw

    I have a ServerSocket based program...listening on a port. It is really a very simple program. And I can run it with javaw. Then I can use another problem, for example, telnet to connect to that port, just to prove I can connect to that port. Everything is fine.
    Now if I run the exactly the same ServerSocket program with java, then I got the connection refused error.
    It is weird.
    Do you know why? Do you know a good socket troubleshooting tool on Windows? I am afraid of the viruses, so I haven't downloaded any free tools yet.

    You're right.
    The Norton personal firewall does not handle localhost to localhost correctly. I do all the tests on the same machine. The netstat -an shows the port is listening in either case. But now I know the firewall blocks one of them silently. No rule prompt was triggered. Worse, no logging produced for that particular access.
    Thanks. You've been very helpful.

  • Unable to map actionscripting with java nested objects

    Hi Experts...,
    Im a newbie in flex and actionscripting.....
    Im unable to map nested java classes and objects with my front end flex application using actionscript....I have searched everywhere almost to my knowledge on the net but failed to find a fix...,
    im having serious trouble reffereing to attributes of an object using another object( which by the way happens to be the parent object).
    Im using hibernate and springs to do the DB transactions....,
    Please help me out with this issue.....
    Thanks for all the help and support in advance....

    Again, I don't work with Java and you should ask Java-related question in Flex (or Java) forum.
    Java or not - you need to package your server side language specific object into something that AS understands (text, XML, AMF object) and load this data into AS via, perhaps, URLLoader. Or you can open socket. Then you parse this data with AS3 code in SWF.

    I'm trying to find out how to send emails with java - without using the java mail api - i've been told there is a way to do it but i cant seem to find it - any help on this would be gratefully recieved as i'm totally stuck! :(

    Ok, I expanded on it a little bit. Still probably isnt totally correct.
    String localhost="yourdomain.com";

    String from="[email protected]";
    String to="[email protected]";

  • C++ can send a "struct" over TCP.How to do the same fuction with JAVA?

    as Title~
    C++ send a struct like the following...
    NEO_MSG neo_msg;
    struct NEO_MSG
    int iPortRecv; // port for recv data of client
    char verify;
    ////After create a TCP connection....
    send(ServerSock, (char*)&neo_msg, sizeof(neo_msg), 0);
    How to rewrite it with JAVA?

    If you are trying to do it in a way that is compatible with C++, then you'll need to write the bytes to the socket. You can do this by wrapping the socket's output stream with a DataOutputStream, then writing each value in order.
    Remember that a C++ struct is just a convention of accessing a linear array of bytes, so the above is equivalent.
    If you are just trying to send an Object's data over a socket (to another Java app), then you can wrap the socket's output stream with an ObjectOutputStream, then just write the object to it.

  • C# socket and java socket

    hello
    i am a java programmer,recently we got a project,that need the c# app to communicate with java app ,i select the socket as intermediate.
    i notice that java socket term is divided into " blocking" and "non-blocking",the latter come from jdk1.4, the c# socket is devided into "synchronized" and "asynchronized" and both of them are blocking,
    in my project,i have tried synchronized c# socket coorperating to blocking java socket,it works well..but when i modify the c# app to ASYNCHRONIZED socket,my system DON'T works well,i don't know why? i can't find asynchronized socket in java,.i learn that nio socket is nonblocking, is it asynchronized?
    who can tell me what's is the best solution for the socket communication between java and c#?

    yes,i have read them,but it only tell me the communication between java apps,and DON'T tell me any clue about c# socket.

  • XSLT Mapping with Java class not working in Integration Repository

    Hi,
    I have an XSLT mapping program with Java enhancement and I was able to successfully tested it in Stylus Studio. However, when I imported the Java class and the xslt program in Enterprise Service Builder and tested it, my program does not compile.
    Here is the error message: "Transformer Configuration Exception occurred when loading XSLT mapping_temp.xsl; details: Could not compile stylesheet".
    My java program is in a zip file containing SOAPHeaderHandler.java and SOAPHeaderhandler.class. My Java has a package com.nga.xslt.
    Here is the declaration of my Java class in the XSLT: xmlns:javamap="java:com.nga.xslt.SOAPHeaderHandler"
    It seems that it could not read the java class. Can you please advice what is wrong?

    Hi ,
    select XMLTOOLKIT option in Operation mapping and execute it.
    I am not sure we can call java program in XSLT Program,but alternative is copy the code and use it in XSLT mapping it self,that means your XSLT program will become with JAVA extensions.
    then in Operation mapping level select SAPXMLTOOL kit option and execute it. i hope it will work. if it is not working then you have deploy some JAXP files on server,because the way execution of XSLT Mpaping program got changed,like when eve you executing XSLT with extnasions( if you are not using XMLTOOL kit option) then you have to use latest version of JAXP.JDK files.

    I want to pass along a couple of tips that will get you more and better response on this list.
    1) There is an un-written rule that says more "stars" is better than just one star. Giving a one star rating will probably eliminate that responder from individuals that are willing to anser your question.
    2) If someone gives you an answer that meets your needs, reply to that answer and say that it worked.
    3) If someone suggests that you look at an example, DO IT! LV comes with a wonderful set of examples that demonstate almost all of the core functionality of LV. Familiarity with all of the LV examples will get you through about 80% of the Certified LabVIEW Developer exam.
    4) If you have a question first search the examples for something tha
    t may help you. If you can not find an example that is exactly what you want, find one that is close and post a question along the lines of "I want to do something similar to example X, how can I modify it to do Y".
    5) Some of the greatest LabVIEW minds offer there services and advice for free on this exchange. If you treat them good, they can get you through almost every challenge that can be encountered in LV.
    6) If English is not your native language, post your question in the language you favor. There is probably someone around that can help. "We're big, we're bad, we're international!"

  • Problem with java installation on Linux

    HI ,
    I am trying to install jdk on Linux..I am new to java and Linux both. I am trying to download the file for the linux installation onto my home PC(windows XP) and then ftp it to my Linux machine. I need to do this because I have a remote login to my Linux machine( a server at school). However when I try to download file my IE jsut crashes. I can see the page for accepting the Agreement but when I click on Accept the next page just stops responding.
    Could someone explain why this is happening.
    thanks,

    The problem doesn't have to do anything with Java or Linux as far as i can see. It's more likely a problem with Windows XP and IE. Be assured that normally downloading the Linux JDK in windows is not a problem.

  • Problem with Java and Windows (Mainly Vista and UAC)

    Hi all,
    I am having a problem with a program that I've devoloped. The program itself is packaged as a jar and I plan to deploy it across multiple platforms eventually however right now i am only concerned about windows based systems. I have made an installer for a windows baised systems using NSIS to install the software files. I made the installer as I need several java packages to be installed so the program would work (JAI, J3D, JAI ImageIO) and I also require the program to have fileassociations on windows.
    I know that this is not what java is about, however the majority of the users will be on windows baised systems so I've decided that OS specific installers is the best option.
    During the process I have noticed that there are several key problem with java for this type of application!
    The first issue that I have come across is getting file associations to work on java. As a .jar is not an excutable it is not possible to directly associate a filetype with it in java so to overcome this I currently run the program from a .bat files and also the program requires large memory so this also allows me to run the program with -xmx. The batch file that I use is :
    <code>
    cd PATH TO PROGRAM
    start javaw -Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true -Xmn100M -Xms500M -Xmx1000M -jar "PATH TO PROGRAM\program.jar" %1 -vram 134217728
    pause;
    </code>
    Ok so all this appears to work fine and allows windows to have file associations and start the program and thats all works perfectly but this is a non-ideal solution. Has anyone got any advice on improving this?
    The next problem that I have appears to be a problem with Vista and UAC (user access control). When a user installs the program and installs the program into the program files directory I found that the program did not work and kept saying that I did not have access to the files in the current directory. This is a problem as I read and write settings files during program execution.
    On a Vista system UAC prevents file write operations into the Program Files directory unless the program has requested elevated status even if the user is a full administrator. The probem is that there appears to be no real way to achieve this under java that I'm aware of...
    Has anyone else had this probem and has a suitable solution?
    Any advice on these issues would realy be appricated.
    Regards
    Joey

    Ok so i've kinda found a solution, its not ideal but its very good. I found this program called Elevate
    A link to the site I got it was
    http://www.wintellect.com/cs/blogs/jrobbins/archive/2007/03/27/elevate-a-process-at-the-command-line-in-vista.aspx
    This program allows you start java with a UAC dialog for high access using
    Elevate java -jar myjar.jar
    This then allows you to have full access using java... I guess it could be dangerous but it does the job.
