After installing update, I repeatedly get message "your computer must be restarted to finish a previous upgrade," and I've restarted several times, and I when trying uninstall receive same message.
Yesterday, I ran an update that was available. This morning when opening the browser, it stated that I needed to retsart my computer to complete the upgrade. I rebootted five times (at least) and it will not start Firefox. I tried uninstalling and planned to reload (apparently losing all of my favorites) and I can't do that--receive same message. I'm using IE today :(
Run the Firefox program once as Administrator (right-click: Run as Administrator).
If that doesn't help then do a clean reinstall.
Download a fresh copy of Firefox ( http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html ) and do a reinstall of Firefox on top of the current version. You won't lose your personal data like bookmarks doing that ([http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder]).
See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Software_Update (Software Update not working properly)<br />
You may need to remove the files in the updates and updates\0 folder:
Vista/Windows7:
C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Mozilla Firefox\updates
(%LOCALAPPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Mozilla Firefox\updates)

I tried to sync Firefox mobile to my PC. Then I tried to upgrade to Firefox 4.0, which was a mistake, because I already had 4.0. I checked yes to install it again. Then I tried to uninstall and reinstall 4.0. That is when I started getting the error message.

Why do I get a, "your computer must be restarted to complete a previous upgrade" message
I guess Im having the same issues as some of the others but I cant seem to remove. I just wanted to upgrade to FF7 and now I continue to get the message above. Ive taken all the steps suggested at: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Uninstalling_firefox The issue is it wont even allow me to Remove-I go Ctrl Panel, Add/Remove and click Remove and it gives me the same message, "Your computer must be restarted to complete a previous upgrade of FF"-Asks do I wish to reboot-Ive click yes 100 times and nothing changes.
Im at a loss-I've logged on as a user and Administrator and still get the same messagesActually, I figured it out...apparently I had too many add-ons...? Wouldn't allow me to click on tab items or type in Yahoo! search...
Removed some unwanted add-ons and extensions and I'm all good.
Thanks for the help! -
When I try to start Firefox, I get the error message "Your computer must be restarted to complete a previous upgrade of Firefox. Do you want to reboot now?" I have rebooted several times to no avail. Get the same message when I try to uninstall Firefox
Just had this same problem. Based on other suggestions I found on the web, went to C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox and deleted all files that ended with upgrade and/or delete. Then I was able to uninstall Firefox and then reinstalled. Hope this helps!

After searching, found a few answers and tried one last thing-- allowing Safari to accept Cookies. I never use Safari so never changed any settings in it ever. However, I guess an update along the way turned off cookies in it and that was the blockage. Once I allowed Safari to use cookies I was able to redeem the gift card. SO, glad this board is here for these types of questions!!!!

I have rebooted my computer several times and I am still receiving this message. Please advise as to how I can correct this problem. I even get this message when trying to uninstall Firefox.
I had the same problem and went round and round in circles trying to uninstall FF5. Nothing worked. I eventually downloaded a free "Uninstaller" programme, i.e. Revo which did the job and I have since downloaded a fresh Firefox 5 which is working perfectly.

A message your computer must be restarted to comlete a previous upgrade
A message displays that says youre computer must be restarted for previous upgrade to take effect.
That's a customary task after any installation.

A previous upgrade was not completed!
Rebooting does not work.
Can't even uninstall 3.6.18. Get the same '"must reboot'" message. If files already have been downloaded then you need to remove the files in the updates and updates\0 folder.
You can delete active-update.xml and updates.xml as well if present.
C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\updates
Vista:
C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Mozilla Firefox\updates

The "Application Data" folder in XP/Win2K and the "AppData" folder in Vista/Windows 7 are hidden folders.

If there are problems with updating then best is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
* Firefox 5.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
* Uninstall your current Firefox version.
* Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
* It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

I've tried rebooting mulitple times. I've uninstalled/reinstalled only to get the same message. I tried the "cor-el" suggested solution of deleting the (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\) first but was unable to delete the file "{CAFEEFAC-0016-0000-0025-ABCDEFFEDCBA}" as access is denied. I even tried deleting the "parent.lock" file only there isn't one in my profile folder. I believe I've now exhausted all current suggestions. Please help!
Were you ever able to delete {CAFEEFAC-0016-0000-0025-ABCDEFFEDCBA}? If not, try downloading Unlocker and seeing what application has a hold of it. (http://www.emptyloop.com/unlocker/)
FYI - I also emailed one of the peers on the installer for insight on what we can check as I have seen several reports on the forums lately with similar issues. -
Hi,
I keep getting an error msg 1051 when texting to short code 71441. I checked with Sprint & there is no block on any of my messaging and all my settings are correct on my phone, everything is updated. I receive all other text messages regular & short code. This particular number just stopped working without cause. Do you know why?I have this problem also. I have an iPhone 5c; well both my wife and I have iPhones 5c and we are having the same problem. She doesn't use her phone to send text messages to online accounts just to her friends so she doesn't encounter the problem that I am but I checked her phone and she has the same problem on her phone. I can receive text message from some online account; most specifically from my Gmail account but I cannot receive text messages from either my AOL or Paypal accounts. I've took my iPhone to the Sprint store where I purchased it without any results. I called both Sprint and Apple still without any resolution. I called both Paypal and AOL and they could not offer any good advice or fix the problem. Everyone seem to be referring to someone else like the carrier or the manufacturer.
I went online to check my settings on my online MySprint account and saw no problem there. If I cannot get any help from this online community my next step will be to take it to an Apple Store and then contact the manufacturer and try to have them exchange it for a new iPhone. So far this seem to be point to a manufacturer defect.
My iPhone specs are:
iPhone 5c
ios 8.0.2
carrier: Sprint 17.1
Model: ME567LL/A
Serial Number: FCDN60C4FFHM -

If you successfully restored the iPod to factory settings/new iPod (went through all the steps without errors), then time for an appointment a the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

Is the something wrong with the link to verify my iphone?
The only thing that Im thinking could be the issue is that I just got the phone yesterday and it started to download is06 and didn't finish. I can't resume it where I'm at right now because there is no WI FI access so I will have to wait until I go home. Maybe because the software is updating it is causing it to time out? But then again why are you having the same problem! UGH frustrating!!
