After reinstallation I am unable to run java

I reinstalled the entire java package j2dsk1.4.2_03, and could no longer run java on my Windows XP. I would really appreciate your help.
Whenever I try to run javac or java, I will get the following message:
Error occurred during initialization of VM
java/lang/NoClassDefFoundError: java/lang/Object
I correctly added C:\ j2dsk1.4.2_03\bin to the PATH variable, and have no ideas about how to resolve the issue.

Thanks. I finally resolved the issue by
1. removing Java 2 SDK and Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_03, using "Add and Remove Programs",
2. reinstalling them by clicking j2sdk-1_4_2_03-windows-i586-p.exe, which was downloaded from SUN.

Yes, you can. There's a bunch of things you need to do (mostly setting the path environment variable). You should look at the documentation that came with the JDK, and check out the many forum responses to problems in setting up the JDK on Win 2K and Win XP.

I have tried everything I could to fix this, but some things require actually being on Firefox, and since I cannot get on, I cannot click on the tabs to do it. I have even totally uninstalled firefox, and that has not fixed this. I still get the same message that firefox is running and I need to close it or restart (which I have also tried dozens of times). I have removed things like Java, and that has not helped either. If I cannot even get on line in firefox, how can I fix this. I am not crazy about using internet explorer, but right now, it is my only option. I even tried to start in safe mode, and the same message box pops up!

Problems running java after most recent update

After updating to the latest version of Java via Software Update a few weeks ago, I am unable to run the Java applet I need to run to log onto my scheduling system for my work. We use ClinixMIS software which is web based and appears to load a Java applet when I log in. Before the most recent update I had no problem logging in and I still have no problems logging in on older machines running snow leopord and earlier versions of MacOSX with previous versions of Java. When I called Apple and told them my problem the tech said it was because the version of Java is more advaced than the one Clinix is using. I asked how to go back to an earlier version and I was told I can't do it. When I tried to download and install an earlier version of Java the computer wouldn't let me do it. I am running the latest version of Lion on a 2010 MacBook Pro with a i5 processor. I tried Safari, Chrome and Firefox and nothing worked. Does anyone have any ideas or has anyone run into a similar problem? Clinix has not supported Macs in the past but when I talked to the guy they sent out to help with some other issues we are having he told me they had a "team working on it". That has been their response now for about four weeks.

I'm running a Powerbook G4 with OS X 10.4.7. I've already installed iTunes 6.
After using Software Update to get the latest QuickTime (I have the license to access Pro features), I am unable to run QuickTime. I get the following error:

I also tried to download it again from the Apple->QuickTime->Download page, but I get the same result.

Have you tried Deleting the Mail Account and then Re-adding it...
Delete the affected email account from your device.
Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
Choose the affected email account, then tap Delete Account.
Add your account again.

One possibility, is a strange occurence when applying the big 10.5.8 combo, most people have to Repair Permissions twice in a row, then reboot.

After the upgarde we are unable to run diagnostics at all. We are getting the following error while running diagnostics -

Unable to run 32 bit java vm

I have encountered a strange problem on a solaris 8 system freshly installed.
running java command causes segmentation fault.
With native java installation coming with OS:
root@myhost # /bin/java -version
Segmentation Fault
Tried installing fresh copy of java 1.4.2_14.
After this, when i execute java -version, it gives
root@myhost # ./java -version
The stack size specified is too small, Specify at least 4194303k
Could not create the Java virtual machine.
Same thing, if i invoke 64 bit vm, it works fine.
root@myhost# ./java -d64 -version
java version "1.4.2_14"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_14-b05)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 1.4.2_14-b05, mixed mode)
Any ideas to fix this issue would be most welcome. I am running with kernel patch level 117350-61.Solaris is Solaris 8 2/04 edition.

I'd suggest you install jdk-6u24-windows-i586.exe if you need 32-bit support.

everything is installed but unable to configure java plug in in above browsers...
no browser is detecting java console
Is there any specific version of all the above needed to run forms?
(when i hit forms url in browser it goes blank)

We have upgraded our BW 3.5 and SEM-BW component to BI7 with EPH1,this has ugrade the SEM-BW component from 4 to 6.After the upgrade we are unable to run T-code UCMON and it gives a short dump. We also found that this T-code is missing UGMD_SY_MD. Please suggest.

Recently I have upgrade my MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2010) from the older OS (Darwin) to the latest OS (Mavericks), but the problem is, my other partition BootCamp which runs on Window XP, is unable to run now after the upgrade. May I know what happened to it? and what to do to make XP run in the new Mavericks OS.
Another question, can i revert back to my old OS if I were to use my XP?

It is a program that runs under the OS, but can run Windows (among others). You are able to run to two operating systems at once.
