After TimeMachine restore, cannot re-activate Acrobat Pro 9

My iMac's hard drive crashed last week and after replacement, I restored from a TimeMachine back-up on an external hard drive. The only issues I had were getting Adobe applications (CS4 Web Premium) back up and running. After running the License Repair Tool, I was able to re-activate PhotoShop and Dreamweaver with my serial number. However, when I tried to run Acrobat Pro 9, it would not accept that same serial number the others did.
When I launched the application, I got a dialogue asking for the serial number. When I entered the serial number, a red X displayed to the right. When I clicked the "Next" button, I got an error stating that the serial number was invalid. I double-triple checked the number to insure it was correct, but no dice. HELP!

Hi BenjaminLipsman,
Thank You for posting on the forums. Kindly try the steps mentioned in http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/error-invalid-serial-number-acrobat.html
Thanks,

  • Cannot activate Acrobat Pro XI

I had a subscription to Acrobat Pro XI and it automatically transferred to Acrobat DC I don't like DC at all, it has many bugs. I followed the on-line instructions to uninstall it and reinstall Acrobat Pro XI.When I try to activate Acrobat Pro XI it comes up with an error "Licensing of this software has stopped".I downloaded the trial from Adobe but when I sign in Acrobat Pro does not show up in my products so I cannot see the serial number, Very frustrating.
    Please help.

    Hi stephenl816,
I've checked your account, and it looks like your subscription was not part of a Creative Cloud membership. So, it may be that you used the wrong installer to reinstall Acrobat XI. Please uninstall Acrobat, and then reinstall following the instructions in this document: Acrobat trial removed previous version | How to reinstall.
An Acrobat subscription doesn't require a serial number, as we use your Adobe ID/password as verification/activation. You should not be prompted to enter a serial number if you install from the link provided in the document I link to.
Let us know how it goes!
    Best,
    Sara

  • I can't activate Acrobat Pro license

    Hello
after the inconveniences and the impossibility to connect and sync my documents with Creative Cloud Connection, now it is the turn of Acrobat Pro to giving me trouble.
I can't activate Acrobat Pro license, so I can't use it.
After launching Acrobat Pro, a blank page that should contain the license agreement appears, but the button for accepting the license doesn't work. I have deinstalled and reinstalled several times the application without success.
Thank you to explain me how to resolve this problem.

    Good day,
I cannot install Adobe Acrobat Pro on my windows XP machine with SP2 and the latest updates.
The error says that the software cannot be installed on the Operating system, please see minimum requirements. I meet all these but cannot install
I saw a similar question posted on the forums but it is unanswered.

    Hi,
This link has the minimum system requirements for Acrobat 10 Pro : Acrobat X Pro Tech Specs
On Windows XP, the minimum requirement is SP3 for 32 bit. I would recommend that you update to SP3 by running Windows Update and then reinstall the application.

I have purchased the adobe creative suite 6 design standard, and I can't seem to activate acrobat pro x. I have uninstalled my trail version which was acrobat pro XI, but it still is not appearing on my adobe application manager.

    Hi davadlaw,
You can install Acrobat on the new PC and use your Adobe ID to activate the software.
The purchased subscription is linked to your Adobe ID.

It sounds like an issue of trying to run XI on VISTA. That combination does not work. Info on both the Acrobat full version (including sub-version) and OS would help. It might also be an issue of running 11.0.0 on a system that needs the updates to work.

  • Why does Adobe force you to install a "cloud" program before they will activate Acrobat Pro?

Why does Adobe force you to install a "cloud" program before they will activate Acrobat Pro?

If you are referring to the Cloud desktop application, that replaced the Adobe Application Manager (AAM) which is what would previously have been installed instead.

  • How to activate Acrobat Pro XI on a non persistant VDI desktop?

    Hi,
I installed Acrobat Pro XI on a Citrix XenDesktop non persistant environment. I used the customization wizard and all seems to work without any questions for activation, but... When I logon to the desktop I start Acrobat Pro XI and I don't have the "PRO" options enabled (like for example  PDF Portfolio). When I close the program and open it again I do have the PRO options so it looks like the program is activating online at the first startup of the program.
I don't think my users like to start a program then have to close it and start again to use the full options and it shouldn't be working like that.
Does somebody know how to fix this?
    Kind regards,
    Freek van Ekkendonk

When the user is logging on he gets a random desktop from the pool, al the virtual desktops have the same image. The registration has been done once on the master image. It could be that when the computer name changes to a random name in the pool the license gets expired because of the changed computername and then tries to activate again online.
I don't think I have a volume serial number and I don't use the off-line exception because I couldn't get it to work. Below is the error log.

  • Cannot Print in Acrobat Pro 9.4.2 (XP Pro SP3), but Other Apps Can

I am unable to print PDFs on my workstation unless I drag them from a Windows Explorer session and drop them on an open printer window (Start, Printers and Faxes, double-click on printer to open window). I have Acrobat 9 Professional (ver. 9.4.2) running under Windows XP Pro (SP3). I cannot print a PDF from within Acrobat or from within a browser window. I have done a "repair install" on Acrobat and rebooted. When I try to print from within Acrobat or a browser window, I do not receive any form of error message. There is no indication of any problem. If I have the printer window open window (Start, Printers and Faxes, double-click on printer to open window) and I try to print from Acrobat or a browser, I never see anything appear in the window, even briefly. If I drag a PDF from Windows Explorer and drop it in the printer window, the document name appears briefly in the window and the document prints.
I have double checked my printer settings from within Acrobat to make sure that it is not "printing to file." The correct printer *is* selected.
I've tried printing to different printers in the office. I've even tried printing to the "virtual printer" which is a front-end to our fax server. No dice. If I monitor the printers folder (which lists every printer that my workstation can print to currently), the "documents" column (which shows the number of documents in the queue to be printed) never changes from zero.
The fact that I can drag a PDF from Windows Explorer and drop it on a printer and get it to print really puzzles me, since I thought that this was only possible if either Acrobat Pro (or other paid version) or Acrobat Reader was installed. That is, I thought that Windows XP cannot print a PDF unless some sort of PDF reader (Acrobat, Nitro, etc.) is installed. Then again, I may be mistaken. *IF* indeed Windows XP doesn't know how to print a PDF without help from a PDF reader of some sort (Acrobat Reader, Nitro, etc.), then how is it that I can drag, drop and print, but I can't print from within Acrobat Pro itself? Meanwhile, all other apps print just fine to any given printer.
FYI... this question has languished for two weeks with no solution at experts-exchange.com. I've never stumped them before. I've never waited more than 24 hours for an answer there before, and usually a solution takes just an hour or two. This suggests to me that my situation is quite rare. Can anyone get me on track?

  • How to manually activate acrobat pro X?

My old laptop died and I have installed acrobat pro x on my new laptop.  I am keeping it off all networks, isolated.  But the activation screen is not giving me any option to manually activate.  What now??

    Hi digereedo,
You need to connect to internet at least once to activate the software.

  • Cannot "repair" Adobe Acrobat Pro v8.0

I have installed Adobe Acrobat Pro v8.0, and MS Office 2004. When I open Acrobat, it asked me if I want to repair the installation. Yes, I do, so I select the PDFMaker Toolbar for Office, Adobe PDF Printr, and Adobe PDFViewer Safari Plugin.
At this point, neither Safari nor MS Office (any of the associated applications) are open. However, when I click "continue" I get a screen telling me to close down Safari and Microsoft Applications (but they are not running, or are they?).
Does the problem lie with me, Adobe, MS, or Leopard?

Without seeing the actual text of the message, it's hard to tell what the problem might be. Are you sure it isn't telling you to close them down if they're running?
As for Adobe Acrobat, what did you do to it after you installed it? You changed or deleted something, which is why it's asking you if you want to repair it. Adobe is known for making no details available about moving or deleting things that may affect their applications' ability to be 'repaired' or updated in the future.

  • Cannot Install Adobe Acrobat Pro via Adobe Download Assistant - Please Help

    Hi Guys,
Please can you help I am trying to download the adobe acrobat pro trial via the adobe download assistant but cannot get the download to complete successfully.
Everytime I try and  download the file it freezes when almost totally downloaded (less than a minute remaining) and eventually returns an error saying:
Error extracting teh product installer (Error 101). Check for available disk space on your system and try downloading the product again. I am trying to install to the desktop on a drive with 600GB free!!
Please help, I have downloaded the ADA through google chrome on a machine with windows 7 (64bit)
    Thanks
    Mike

    Try this:
Direct Download Links for Adobe Software
Though if the extraction fails, you may face that same issue again. Store the fiel in a different location and do a littel housekeeping. You could well simply be running out of temp space or have a permissions problem on your temp folder...

  • Problems after wrong lnguague install CS4 with Acrobat Pro

I helped my friend with her new CS4 install.
So CS4, Apple intel iMac (1 year old only).
She got a Dutch education license.
First, without thinking, I installed the whole thing in English. The serial did not work, and I realized I needed to reinstall, but then in Dutch.
All programs work in Dutch but Arobat Pro 9 and Distiller stopped working.
After uninstalling and removing Acrobat Pro 9 it does not want to install probarly anymore. Basically the installer completes succesfully, but the acrobat folder is only 300mb or so, and does not start (icon of acrobat appears as 'not an application' by os x).
How can I succesfully reinstall the Dutch (she has a Dutch license!) version of Acrobat 9 Pro.
    - Straight from the dvd does not work.
    - Download of Acrobat 9 Pro ofr Mac is not available (also not trial).
    - Update does not solve the issue.
    Thanks for your help!

  • I cannot install Adobe Acrobat pro on my mac running Yosemite.  Why?

I was able to install Acrobat Reader, but when I tried to upgrade to Acrobat Pro on my mac, the Acrobat intaller just hangs there indefinitely.  I am running Yosemite.  What is the deal?

    Hi kctfsu,
We would require the install logs to analyse the failue cause.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Select
    /var/log ▹ install.log
from the hierarchical list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar. Then select the messages from the last installation or update attempt, starting from the time when you initiated it. If you're not sure when that was, start over and note the time. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.
