Aggregate proposal for Query View
Dear all,
I'm looking for a possibility to debug a <b>query view</b> in order to determine necessary aggregates which I have to create for this view. I can not use RSRT2, as it is only working on the query and not on the view, and in RSRT1 there is no debug possibility...
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Andreas
Hi,
RSRT2 in the HTML view in the text edit control enter
data_provider_id=yourViewName
(Make sure query field is empty)

Variable Screen for query view is hidden
Hi All,
I caome across an old query in BW 3.5 which is haiving some mandatory variables. There is a query view for the same query but when i am executing the query view i didn't got any variable screen and its running for some predefined value. How one can hide the variable screen for query view.
How can i achieve the same for a BI 7 query view. Please guide.
Regards:
JitendraHi Rakesh,
What you said is right but my concern is that next time when i open the query view variable screen shouldn't appear ie should run with previously stored variable values. I am working with BI 7 query view. Please guide.

Variable Screen for Query Views.
Hi All:
I have a Base Query and 4 views on it. The variable (ZVAR1) is defaulted to ALL in base Query. In View 1 it should be ONE, View 2 it should be TWO....how can I make this possible? This is Text varaible that changes for each view.
Thanks a lot!!
Manasa.Hi Manasha,
Run the query 4 times with 4 values respectively 1,2,3,4 for zvar1 and save them as four views.
This is going to serve your purpose.

Source tables for Query views and book marks
Hi Gurus,
We are planning to recreate Query views based on a perticular query from ODS to cube.
1. Is there a table that can provide me all the query views created on the portal, Created by(User Name), description based on the query name.
Basically i am looking for the following:
INPUT: Query Name
OUTPUT:
List of all the query views created on that query
The user name or id who created the query view
Description of the query view
2. I tried in meta data repository but it only gives me query views create in older version of the portal and not 7.0.
Appreciate your immediate assistance.
Thanks,
Ravi AnanthuniHi Ravi,
You can get the views created on the query and the ods too. But not through table...
This may not the right process but you can find what you want.
Open WAD --> add any web item into the template --> On the left pane --> Generic --> Data Provider --> Query/View --> Click on the View icon present there.....
A popup window opens --> Click on Infoareas --> Goto your Info provider present there --> Expand it, you will find the query created on the info provider and the Views created on that query.
Hope this helps u...

How to do security for query VIEW - BI 7
Hi,
I have created several query VIEWs and for some reason users can change the query VIEWs i created.
How can i do security for VIEW making sure nobody will change them?
I am using BI 7 and portal 7 as well.
Thanks for your help.
CesarHi there, I have the same concern.
I have been trying to play around with object RSZCOMPID, restricting activities on QVW (query views)
Activity 03, 16 ACTVT
InfoArea Z* RSINFOAREA
InfoCube * RSINFOCUBE
Name (ID) of a reporting compo Y, Z RSZCOMPID
Type of a reporting component CKF, REP, RKF, SOB, STR, VAR RSZCOMPTP
Apparently there is a bug, or a higher level more permissive that is constantly allowing the related role to overwrite or create new views.
Furthermore, we cannot troubleshoot with SU53 in the ABAP stack, since RSRT does not offer the creation of views. Only way to test this is either BexAnalyzer (which only saves user views, no tech name), or the Portal >> this is where my issue is.
If anyone has a solution, would be greatly appreciated !
Thanks

Aggregates - Propose & MultiProviders
Hi,
When using aggregate propose from query, we never get any query proporsal, but only message:
"No objects are loaded in the Repository (main memory"
Why ?
All our queries are based on multiproviders. Maybe that's the problem ?
BW 3.5 SP 13.
BR,
Ole PaludanHi,
indeed that's the problem. The proposal doesn't work for queries on multiproviders.
You can just try one of the other options (from statistics or from technical content). But here you may get a lot of "useless" aggregates.

Query View name not saved in "Analysis Grid Properties" under Data Provider
Hi BW World;)
We are on BI 7.0
I have created a BI workbook which contains a query view.
However when we go into design mode and then "analysis grid properties" for this query view then "change data provider" it does not show the query view name but the query name. (we have saved the workbook)
Is this the normal scenario?
Surely should show the "query view name " and not the "query name" as confuses what data provider is being used?
Is this a bug?
Best
Stevo.... Points of course... Thanks in advance.;)
Edited by: bw4eva999 on Sep 10, 2009 4:40 PM spellingHi,
You have created a workbook on top of a Query View which is again depends on a Query. Now the base for Query View is a Query. So the underlying Data Provider for a workbook is a Query.
Hence when you go to Properties of grid->Change Data Provider,it shows the Query and the InfoCube, but not the Query View.
So this is not a bug and this how its been designed.
If you click for the Information of that workbook,it will show the Query and Info Provider, but not the query View.
Though it looks like wierd,it is not a bug.

Displaying query view name in web template.
Hi all,
In the standard web template (0ANALYSIS_PATTERN) there is a text box which displays the query title. I need to change this so it displays the name of the query view instead of the query. Does anyone know how to do this?
Many thanks,
Nick.Hi Nick,
In the template you need not to do any special setting for Query View Name display.
When You use a query view in template that becomes as a data provider, so for every data provider whether that's a query or query view it works same.
You can select to display query technical name or description.
Hope i understood your requirement correctly. If not than please correct me.
Thanks

Query and Query view ?

Hi,
Can anyone tell me how I can find out what query belongs to a query view? A table out there?
Found the answer to this question: Table RSZWVIEW.
Also, if a person has access to the query do they automatically get access to the view?
Thanks! You are correct about the table. There is a trick for query views. You must insert an entry into the RSADMIN table in order to start checking for authorizations based on query views, otherwise, it simply uses the query. There is an OSS note: 601090. Hope this helps.
Thanks,

Hi all!,
In BI netweaver 7, is recommended to allow final users have access to create Query Views from WAD/Productive environment?, this is because when production is closed, final users cannot save Query Views because transport error is generated.
We saw on help.sap.com: Note that you cannot create query views on the Web if the standard transport system is active because this requires the transport request dialog box.
Any suggestions are welcome, hope you could help us.
Thanks.Hi,
you have to change the 'Object Changeability' setting for Query View in your productiv system. Then there will be no Transport System connection and you'll get no error message.
Go to the Administrator Workbench (Data Warehousing Workbench, transaction RSA1) -> 'Goto' -> 'Transport Connection' and choose 'Object Changeability'. To display the function, you may have to enlarge the window or press the arrow keys nearby.
In the following dialog box you can select the object types that you want to be changeable, even though the system is set to not changeable.
This task should be done by your System Administrator because additional steps could be necessary.
Take a look at SAP Note 337950 which describes general steps.

Variable with proposed value in BEX Query View
Dear SAP-Gurus,
I have a Web Application with some views on one query. In the inital screen i show the popup for entering the global variable values. Now my question; is it possible to give a global variable used filled by exit and used in these queries a proposed value, receeived by user exit?
With normal query this works, but not with a query view.
any suggestions?
kind regards.
JürgenHi,
if anyone has the same problem - you just have to set the parameter variables_clear=x in webtemplate.
same applies to bookmarks, if you want the variables to be filled by your exit.

Are Cube organized materialized view with Year to Date calculated measure eligible for Query Rewrite
Hi,
Will appreciate if someone can help me with a question regarding Cube organized MV (OLAP).
Does cube organized materialized view with calculated measures based on time series Year to date, inception to date eg.
SUM(FCT_POSITION.BASE_REALIZED_PNL) OVER (HIERARCHY DIM_CALENDAR.CALENDAR BETWEEN UNBOUNDED PRECEDING AND CURRENT MEMBER WITHIN ANCESTOR AT DIMENSION LEVEL DIM_CALENDAR."YEAR")
are eligible for query rewrites or these are considered advanced for query rewrite purposes.
I was hoping to find an example with YTD window function on physical fact dim tables with optimizer rewriting it to Cube Org. MV but not much success.
Thanks in advanceI dont think this is possible.
(My own reasoning)
Part of the reason query rewrite works for base measures only (not calc measures in olap like ytd would be) is due to the fact that the data is staged in olap but its lineage is understandable via the olap cube mappings. That dependency/source identification is lost when we build calculated measures in olap and i think its almost impossible for optimizer to understand the finer points relating to an olap calculation defined via olap calculation (olap dml or olap expression) and also match it with the equivalent calculation using relational sql expression. The difficulty may be because both the olap ytd as well as relational ytd defined via sum() over (partition by ... order by ...) have many non-standard variations of the same calculation/definition. E.g: You can choose to use or choose not to use the option relating to IGNORE NULLs within the sql analytic function. OLAP defn may use NASKIP or NASKIP2.
I tried to search for query rewrite solutions for Inventory stock based calculations (aggregation along time=last value along time) and see if olap cube with cube aggregation option set to "Last non-na hierarchical value" works as an alternative to relational calculation. My experience has been that its not possible. You can do it relationally or you can do it via olap but your application needs to be aware of each and make the appropriate backend sql/call. In such cases, you cannot make olap (aw/cubes/dimensions) appear magically behind the scenes to fulfill the query execution while appearing to work relationally.

How can I see the Query view created for a different user
Hi All,
How can a user see the View of a query created for a different user??
I would like some info about how to give access ( if it is a access problem) or tell me the steps to do that.
Regards, FedericoHi all,
Maybe I didn't explain me as i should or maybe you dont know what is a Query View. Lets try again, showing you the steps to open a "Query view".
This way is from Bex Analyzer (Excel)
I open the Bex Analyzer and connect to the system -> Open query -> Under "Type" choose "Query View"...this is just a different view of the original query (more or least columns/rows).
This way is from Bex Web:
Once you open/execute the query, you have a ComboBox to choose the view (previously saved)
The problem that we have is that the views created for a user, can NOT be found by other user. The only user who can is the owner.
Could it be an authorization problem? or is ther any configuration possible to see it?
Thanks in advance, Federico
