Aggregation rules and pivot tables

I have 3 measures in a pivot table out which 2 have aggregation rule set to SUM. The third measure has aggregation rule set to NONE.
Although the third measure is a number I do not wish to show a grand total as it is the value in local currency and hence not additive as different regions have different currencies.
However the Pivot table does not display the values of the third measure if the aggregation rule is set to NONE. The cells are blank.
Is this expected behavior ? Can I over-ride this behavior ?
Thanks

What I have is a measure, value of inventory in local currencies. It is not additive because in the context of the report that I am working.
I cannot move it to a dimension. One option I have is to move it to the rows section. But that messes up the format that is expected by the client.
Any other ideas ?

  • Charts and pivot tables are not generated in Seed Cache using iBots

    Hi,
    I have been working on OBIEE cache. I encountered few issues.
    1. We scheduled ibots to run daily and deliver dashboards to seeding cache. But the cache is not getting created for some reports which have charts and pivot tables in the dashboards .
    We are using OBIEE 10.1.3.3.1.
    2. When an end user logs in and access dashboard, the query is hitting the database.
    3. The sql query for reports which got created in server cache are not the same as sql query generated when an end user logs in to access dashboard. The difference being query generated when an end user is accessing dashboard is using aggregates.
    4. Please let me know if anyone has faced same issue and any solutions.

  • Difference between aggregation rule and column formula in edit formula

    Anybody please help what is the use of aggregation rule and column formula in edit column option.
    What is the difference if I apply sum in aggregation rule with apply sum(column name) in column formula.
    When do I need use which one.
    Thanks in advance

    When you build a column in the rpd, you have the option of determining if the column should be aggregated in some way or not. For dimension columns, you wouldn't put aggregation. For say, an accoun ledger balance column, you might put the aggregation SUM or AVERAGE. Whatever aggregation you put on this column will be the "default" aggregation of the column in Answers.
    So in Answerrs, if you use the Account Ledger Balance column and you only have Region as the dimension, OBIEE will aggregate or SUM the ledger balances so you have a SUM for the region level. If you had district, than the ledger balance column will aggregate to the district level. This is a convenient way to build reports without having to specify what the aggregation should be.
    However, OBIEE gives you the ability to override what the default aggregation is for a particular column. This is the purpose of the drop down in the bottom left of a column when you click the fx button.
    Say the default aggregation of ledger balance is SUM in the rpd, but for the report you are building, you want the average, you can apply the AVERAGE function in the fx window and it will overridge the SUM aggregation rule that was in the rpd.
    Got it?

  • Can I navigate and drill down in chart and pivot table?

    In the fact, the end user want to navigate to a detail report request when drill down to the final level.
    I know when use table, I can navigate on data and drill down on column.
    But in chart and "pivot table", I do not find the option of interaction to achieve this.
    Any suggestion?

    You can drill down in charts but I just saw you can't in pivots (strange because I assumed that that must be possible)
    However, you can always use guided navigation!

  • How to disable Row label from the aggregation function in Pivot table

    By using above table i have to create Rank(Based on Sales amount) by Category and Item name in Pivot table, i have done easily like added two dimension attribute(Category, Item_Name) into row label and Sales_Amount into aggregation tab then I calculated
    rank:=RANKX(ALL(Sales[Item_Name]),[Sum of Sales_Amount]) so finally pivot table looks like shown below:
    But end user want to see the vendor name also in the pivot table but the Rank suppose to be based on Sales amount by Category and Item name. if i added the vendor name also into the row label, rank calculated based on on Sales amount by Category, Item
    name and vendor.
    I would be really grateful if anyone advise how to fix this problem as it will be helpful my most of the reports.

    If you want to recreate this issue please follow next steps:
    1.     First of all you have to create one analyse with min 3 columns (for example Time.“Calendar date“, Product.Product, „Base Fact“. Revenue -> from Sample Sales Lite )
    2.     From column properties -> Set value Action Link Interaction on some column for example Product.Product (choose Navigate to BI Content -> any created BI report )
    3.     Click Results Tab choose Pivot Table and assigned one dimension column to Section area
    4.     Click preview icon
    5.     When you click on action link nothing happens

  • Guage and Pivot table uses in OBIEE

    Hello Folks,

    in what cases or scenario will this things be used.
    and what is CASE in OBIEE, where is it used and what is its use .
    thanks in advance

    The pivot table view is an interactive view that allows you to rotate the rows, columns, and section headings to obtain different perspectives of the data. Pivot tables are navigable and drillable, and are especially useful for trend reports.
    Gauges are useful for showing performance against goals. Supported gauge types include dial, bar, and bulb-style gauges.
    CASE statement is used for conditions, usage is case when x=y dothis end.. Its like IF statement in programming.

  • Update -Graph and Pivot Table model.DataControls.dcx of type null not found

    Now Solved.
    I upgraded to the new Jdeveloper release and the Preview works.
    Update
    I created a new application and the graphs work ok.
    Now, why in my current project won't the graphs work???
    Chuck
    This just occured today 6/22/09.
    When ever I preview a graph or pivot table i receive this message:
    oracle.jbo.NoDefException: JBO-25002: Definition model.DataControls.dcx of type null not found
    I drop the query on a form as a table and it works fine.
    I have used Graphs before, and ahve never recieved this error.
    I just remenbered, I was using the previous release of Jdeveloper when I built the graphs.
    Probably nothing !!
    In the developers manual this message is mentioned:
    +29.3 Correcting Simple Oracle ADF Runtime Errors+
    Failures of the Oracle ADF Model layer cannot be detected by the JDeveloper
    compiler, in part because the page’s data-display and method-execution behavior
    relies on the declarative Oracle ADF page definition files. The Oracle ADF Model layer
    utilizes those declarative files at runtime to create the objects of the Oracle ADF
    binding container.
    To go beyond simple schema validation, you will want to routinely run and test your
    web pages to ensure that none of the following conditions exists:
    +■ The project dependency between the data model project and the user interface+
    project is disabled.
    By default, the dependency between projects is enabled whenever you create a
    web page that accesses a data control in the data model project. However, if the
    dependency is disabled and remains disabled when you attempt to run the
    application, an internal servlet error will be generated at runtime:
    oracle.jbo.NoDefException: JBO-25002: Definition
    model.DataControls.dcx of type null not found
    To correct the error, double-click the user interface project, and select the
    Dependencies node in the dialog. Make sure that the ModelProjectName.jpr
    option appears selected in the panel.
    I checked and the model.jpr is there.
    I re-installed jdeveloper but the same error occurs.
    I have no idea on how to proceed.

    Well, Shay
    I search my entire C drive for datacontrol.dcx and *.dcx and no files found.
    I am usiing ADF.
    The new application that I created that works in preview does not have this file.
    I unstalled jdeveloper, downloaded a new copy, deleted Oracle directory, installed jdeveloper and results are the same.
    Is the datacontrol.dcx file the same as the "datacontrol in the Data Controls Folder "?
    The datacontrol is present the Data Controls Folder (model.jpr model.appmodule)

  • Declarative rule and capture table condition causing issue

    Hi
    I have one table which is replicating all the commands except delete and truncate. Also I do have declarative rule which rename the schema from source to target.
    When I perform insert operation, it replicates. When i perform delete operation it also captures. but it shouldn't do because we have capture rule not to replicate the delete command.
    When I perform truncate, which is not capturing since the condition fulfilled.
    I used step_number=0 for declarative rule to rename the schema from source to target while capturing the changes.
    Is there any way to override the rules or change the order while capturing the changes?
    please do share your thoughts and help me to resolve the situation.
    Thanks
    Bala

    let me explain about my situation.
    Table rule defined as below
    BEGIN
    DBMS_STREAMS_ADM.ADD_TABLE_RULES(
    table_name => 'HR.ACCOUNT',
    streams_type => 'CAPTURE',
    streams_name => 'CAPTURE_TO_&destsid',
    queue_name => '&source_strmadmin_user..&sourcesid._TO_&destsid',
    include_dml => true,
    include_ddl => false,
    and_condition => ':lcr.get_command_type() != ''DELETE''',
    include_tagged_lcr => false,
    source_database => '&source_tns',
    inclusion_rule => true);
    END;
    DML rule for rename schema as below
    SET SERVEROUTPUT ON
    DECLARE
    v_dml_rule VARCHAR2(80);
    v_ddl_rule VARCHAR2(80);
    BEGIN
    DBMS_STREAMS_ADM.ADD_TABLE_RULES(
    table_name => 'HR.ACCOUNT',
    streams_type => 'CAPTURE',
    streams_name => 'CAPTURE_TO_&destsid',
    queue_name => '&source_strmadmin_user..&sourcesid._TO_&destsid',
    include_dml => true,
    include_ddl => false,
    include_tagged_lcr => false,
    source_database => 'HRDEMO.TESTDOMAIN.COM',
    dml_rule_name => v_dml_rule,
    ddl_rule_name => v_ddl_rule,
    inclusion_rule => true);
    DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE('Capture DML Rule for HR.ACCOUNT => ' || v_dml_rule);
    DBMS_STREAMS_ADM.RENAME_SCHEMA(
    rule_name => v_dml_rule,
    from_schema_name => 'HR',
    to_schema_name => 'HR_REPORT',
    step_number => 0,
    operation => 'ADD');
    END;
    Whenever insert/update happens in HR.ACCOUNT table, it captures and replicate the changes. It shoudln't capture the delete changes and but it does capture. How to modify or override the delete capture situation.
    Is there any way to change the transaformation number, i tried with step_number 0 to 5, it still captures delete changes? How do we avoid delete capture in source database?
    Please help.
    Thanks

  • 10G aggregation  rule confusion

    I am confusing aggregation rule in pivot table view. What dose it control? Grand total or all the columns value?
    For example:
    When I drag Year, Month, Sales columns into the criteria area and make use of pivot table to generate report , I use aggregation rule "Count" for sales, then click Grand total button to see the result ,the result will be correct. However, when I create new pivot view named pivot 2 based on these columns and drag "Month" into the exclude area, then select "Count" rule to view the data, you can find all the columns that be counted. Why?
    Pivot 1:
    Year ----Month ----Sales
    2011-----201101---100
    2011-----201102---200
    2012----201201-----300
    2012----201202-----400
    Grand total-----------4
    Pivot2:
    Year----Sales
    2011-----2
    2012-----2
    Grand------4

    Hi Kobe,
    check this for purpose of Aggregation rule in the Pivot table.

  • Pivot Table Report Issue

    Hi,
    I have created a Pivot Table report (I use them all the time in Excel) as one of my rows...I am using a field that is a formula. When I look at the pivot table results there is a sum by this "row category"...all total 1726 items (correct # of total items' but the sum by each of the 4 items is wrong...when I drill (I can only drill from a higher level)...I get the detail of the 1726 items correctly...but if I do a pivot in Excel off the detail I get a different number in the 4 categories (actually the correct summary data)....HOW do I fix this...we really want to use the power of the report...but with such a large error it is difficult to trust the results of the report.
    Report
    Source Type     MAG Created Year     Parent Account     Target Market     # of Accounts
    Marketing     2004     Unspecified     Key Account     2,521
              Quanta Services Inc     Key Account     1
         2005     Unspecified     Key Account     388
              Vipar Heavy Duty     Key Account     29
         2006     Unspecified     Key Account     824
         2007     Unspecified     Key Account     838
              Domino's Pizza     Key Account     9
         2008     Unspecified     Key Account     582
    Marketing                    5,192
    Grand Total                    5,192
    When you drill down...for instance...the data for 2007 Unspecified is 358 NOT 838....
    Please assist!!! ASAP

    It is very difficult to troubleshoot a report without seeing it, but it looks to me like you have a problem with your aggregation rules... each column has an aggregation rule, and a pivot table measure can also have an aggregation rule... sometimes, depending on the formula and columns that make up your formula, the aggregation rules can cause seemingly incorrect totals because the data is aggregated on the table and then re-aggregated on the pivot table.
    If you would like, you may email me directly and I will see if I can help further.

  • More on the pivot table processing in coherence

    hello, all:
    I posted a question regarding how to create a pivot table in coherence (coherence and pivot table
    Now I am on a project that my mgr wanted me to query a coherence cache and return a subset in "pivot" structure.
    Suppose I send a request from the client with these info: String[] rows, String[] columns, String[] data. Each of them represent rows area, columns area and data area as in a Excel table. The aggregation is limited to sum for now.
    I managed to create some code like this:
    public Map<Object, Object> sum(Filter filter, String properties, String[] targets){
              EntryAggregator[] entryAggregators = new EntryAggregator[targets.length];
              for(int idex = 0;idex<targets.length;idex++){
                   entryAggregators[idex] = new DoubleSum(targets[idex]);
              MultiExtractor me = new MultiExtractor(properties);
              EntryAggregator ca = CompositeAggregator.createInstance(entryAggregators);
              GroupAggregator ga = GroupAggregator.createInstance(me,ca);
              return aggregate(filter, ga);
         }here properties represent rows: "getX,getY,getZ" ; targets represent data to aggreated on: targets[] {"getA","getB"}
    There are two relevant questions:
    1. I am not able to put the columns info into the code;
    2. the return type above is Map<Object, Object> , printing map looks like
    +{[Parts, Appliance, Trash compactor],[214.5, 1.0]}...+
    with 3 rows (X,Y,Z) in the first segment, and aggreated 2 values (A,B) in the 2nd segment.
    how can I exact these values from a map structure (it seems the key/value are map themselves), and design a "pivot" structure to host them?
    I hope I've made myself clear.
    Thanks,
    Johnny

    Hi Johnny,
    Your question intrigued me so I thought I would do a bit of digging into how you might replicate a pivot table using aggregators. Well, it has taken me a few days and as it is quit a long subject I wrote it up on my blog rather than post it all in the forum http://thegridman.com/coherence/oracle-coherence-pivot-table-queries/
    You were on the right track with the GroupAggregator but there is a bit more to do to allow all the different combinations of rows, columns and values as well as filtering.
    I hope what I have written up is clear enough, just ask if you have more question.
