Cisco cat2960: large frames

Hi All.
I was checking my ports on errors on a subject switch and all was OK. but one ios command -
"show controllers ethernet-controller <my interface>" has shown me that some ports have
"Too large frames" in transmit section and "Valid Frames, too Large" in receive section.
does it mean that my switch drops this frames?

I have no stack. My cisco-cat switches are connected through twisted pair (utp5).
с2960[gi0/1]======[gi0/1]с2950[gi0/2]======[gi1/0/15]с3750
====== - it s gigabit trunk connection.
i have checked ports on other switches and it has surprised me: c2950 have no large frames , but c3750 have large frames.
I have set mtu in 9000 only on c2960. i thought that some one who is connected to this switch(PC or other network device) sends large frames. I did not think that large frames can be on other switches.
it seems to me that problem has occured because of ipx traffic in my network and fallback bridging on my c3750.

But I don't know why some packets are dropped because the configuration seems good ...
Can you help me please ?
    Thank you in advance !

This is nothing.  You get this counters if the port(s) is/are configured as Dot1Q Trunking.
There is nothing to be worried about.

  • Today, I randomly happened to have less than 1GB of hard drive space left. I found very large "frame" files, what are they?

I found very large "frame" files, what are they & can I delete them? (See screenshot). I'm a (17 today)-year-old film-maker and can't edit in FCP X anymore because I "don't have enough space". Every time I try to delete one, another identical file creates itself...
If that can help: I just upgraded to FCP 10.0.4 and every time I launch it it asks to convert my current projects (I know it would do it at least once) and I accept, but everytime I have to get it done AGAIN. My computer is slower than ever and I have a deadline this friday
I also just upgraded to Mac OS X 10.7.4, and the problem hasn't been here for long, so it may be linked...
    Please help me!
    Alex

The first thing you should do is to back up your personal data. It is possible that your hard drive is failing. If you are using Time Machine, that part is already done.
Then, I think it would be easiest to reformat the drive and restore. If you ARE using Time Machine, you can start up from your Leopard installation disc. At the first Installer screen, go up to the menu bar, and from the Utilities menu, first select to run Disk Utility. Completely erase the internal drive using the Erase tab; make sure you have the internal DRIVE (not the volume) selected in the sidebar, and make sure you are NOT erasing your Time Machine drive by mistake. After erasing, quit Disk Utility, and select the command to restore from backup from the same Utilities menu. Using that Time Machine volume restore utility, you can restore it to a time and date immediately before you went on vacation, when things were working.
If you are not using Time Machine, you can erase and reinstall the OS (after you have backed up your personal data). After restarting from the new installation and installing all the updates using Software Update, you can restore your personal data from the backup you just made.

  • 2960S Too large frames

    Hi,
I have 2 2960S configured as a flexstack with a etherchannel containing 4 ports connected to a Windows storage server, where I have configured 4 broadcom nics as a etherchannel. On the Broadcom nic team, I have enabled a mtu of 9000 bytes.
It is working fine, no user complaints, but looking at the 2960 interfaces statistics to the etherchannel, I see <too large frames> and <valid frames, too large> on all 4 interfaces.

    Thanks.
As far as I see only gig1/0/14 has a pretty big output drops - 186030.
But if the number is since last reboot, then I guess the number is okay?

  • Problems with large frame uncompressed AVI files in QT 7 player

I have just recently gone from QT Pro 6.5.2 to QT Pro 7, mainly because of the HD support.
I have a dual boot system with QT 7 on Windows 2000, and QT 6 on Windows 98SE.
I am having problems playing uncompressed AVI files in the QT 7 player, apparently if the frame size is large (in the example case 688 x 516).
Sometimes I just get "error 108 unknown error" pop up when I try to load the file. Sometimes the file loads but will not play except in short bursts of movement every now and again as it moves along the timeline. Sometimes the file plays, but with one or more broad black lines across the image!
All the problem files play perfectly in QT 6.5.2, but will not play in QT 7, which should surely play them better, not worse!
Can anyone make any suggestion as to what's happening?
I've uninstalled and reinstalled QT 7, which made no difference. I'm sure I don't need any extra codecs, as QT has always played RAW AVIs without anything extra before.
    Thanks in anticipation, Dave.

  • How to embed small video frame clip into large frame segment?

    Hi, folks:
I have an video of an interview that I imported at 720x480. During the interview, the presenter shows a video clip. I have a wmv file of the clip at 320x240.
I imported the wmv clip and included it in the larger interview sequence. But (obviously), the imported clip is too small to display well in the larger-format interview segment.
I am exporting at 640x480 to a wmv file to include on a website.
So what should I do to expand the frame size of the inserted video clip? I want it the same size as the main interview (with good quality).
    Advice appreciated.
    Thanks!
    Fred

  • Exporting Issue: One large frame sized project, needs to be split and exported in 3 separate files

Hello Awesome people, help me out here Please!
I have a 4480(W) 1260 (H) frame sized project which needs to be exported in 3 separate files, due to the large screen size at the venue.
how to split one project into 3 so that I can get 2 x 1920 (W) and 1 x 640 (W), and height for all three would be 1260 (H)??

    Dear Evans,
You might need to check the print preferences settings on the system. This is available from Administration -> System Initialization -> Print Preferences.
Check this out for the documents that get printed as images and get stored in the Bitmaps folder. Check under the 'general' tab whether the check box for printing documents as images is ticked. If yes, untick this. Then check the settings under the 'Per Document' tab - you will need to change the settings per each document.
    I hope this helps.

  • Placed Illustrator graphics have larger frame than graphic size

I am creating artwork in Illustrator to place in InDesign. I have created separate layers for each element and then I use InDesign’s object layer options to select which layer is visible.
The graphic in Illustrator is 1.2175 in wide by .161 in tall. Upon placing into InDesign, the frame is 1.2869 in wide by .2413 inches tall.
When placing I am using the “Crop To”: Bounding Box (Visible Layers Only)
Why are there margins around the artwork? I would like the InDesign frame to fit tight to art.
I have attached screen shots from AI and INDD below.
    Thanks,
    Phil

I may be on to something.
Besides the text needing to be converted to curves, the stroke needed to be set to outside.  With the stroke set to center the frame in InDesign was expanded.
    Can anyone else confirm this?
    Thanks,
    Phil

  • Large Frame rate drops

This problem mostly occurs in CounterStrike:Global Offensive, in any game server this will happen. However it happens in other games like TF2, and Minecraft. I am going to factory reset my computer and upgrade to windows 10 tonight/tomarrow, to hopefully fix it.

My laptop has always been very efficient and useful, but a couple problems have been occuring with it latly.  One of the largest problems, is my Increadibly huge framerate drops happening this past month. Windows 8.1 without many tasks open, will run fine. However, I will open up a game (All games do this) and then about 15 minutes later, my notebook itself gets a framerate of about 1 or lower. A minute or two later, it returns to normal. Then the cycle repeats. I am sure it is not my internet, because it makes my whole computer lag. Also, I have a couple of occuring problems lately that may relate to this.My computer fan makes a buzzing noise, and sometimes I will start Windows and it tells me tht my system is not being cooled properly. My touchscreen does not work after starting windows, but at any given time it will start working again. How can I fix my main problem?

  • Set default frame size to "large" instead of "tiny"

    Hello,
The title says it all, really.
As I do more scripting than animation, I'd like to have large
    frames by
    default.
This setting is not even saved with the file.
    Is there any way ?
    Thanks.
    PJ

Hello and thank you very much for your response.
It does seem that both version are installed. Entering "sudo apt-get autoremove" into terminal results in...
"0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded."
However, I do not have any problems with any software functioning. I just would like all of my future C++ projects to automatically add paths to, in addition to its standard paths, the 4.9.2 directories.
I've included an image of what my project includes look like after I manually add the 4.9.2 paths. Those four paths are missing from new projects. I would like to have them automatically included in all future projects.

I came across a number of articles relating to jumbo frame gigabit ethernet and integrating into existing networks with fastethernet and 1518 frame size gigabit ethernet devices. Heres a quote i'd like to discuss...
"Today, however, applications optimized for large frame sizes can easily be integrated with existing Ethernet LANs without causing interoperability problems. For example, you can partition a logical network in which systems can exchange Jumbo Frames and mark them with IEEE 802.1Q virtual LAN tags. The extended frames will be transparent to the rest of the network.
Adapters that implement IEEE 802.1Q can support different Ethernet frame sizes for different logical network interfaces. For example, a server could communicate with another server using Jumbo Frames while communicating with clients sitting on another VLAN or IP subnet using standard Ethernet frames - all via the same physical connection."
The use of VLANs to ease interoperability issues is discussed in numerous articles and papers on jumbo ethernet - however, can someone pls explain why cisco have and the implications of the design decision they have taken with the 3750 switches to have no flexibility with configuring jumbo frame support, It can't be assigned on port-by-port basis, nor even on a VLAN basis but is set system wide so on a 24 port 10/100/1000 switch all ports are configured as jumbo regardless of what the connected client devices support.
Are there any plans to upgrade the IOS to support configuring jumbo frames on per VLAN basis. Jumbo frames are an important issue to us as we can benefit from the performance increases and the improved server CPU utilization. Any thoughts ?

Best practice here is to segment your Jumbo Frame servers on their own VLANs for Jumbo supported systems only.
As a post here has already mentioned, Path MTU discovery will tell the systems on the Jumbo VLANs to keep the frames under 1500 when talking to a non-Jumbo VLAN.

  • Cisco 3750G all links reset

I have a Cisco 3750G with routing enabled. Sometimes, I experience a situation: some clients computers are disconnected from the switch and then reconnected immediately. The whole things happened and ended within 5s. But it often happened, >5 times a day.

I didn't see any problems here, just some interfaces are down and then become up again. This happened not only on this single computer, but on some other devices including a Apple Airport Exterem.
Anyone has any idea about this?

I'm pretty sure that the NIC and driver is not the problem.
Back in 2008, I had witnessed first-hand on how a brand new Intel GigabitEthernet NIC card reacts to legacy 3500XL switches.  No matter what IOS you've loaded on the switch the links will go down/up between 25 to 45 times per minute.  This will cause users very, very slow response.  The easiest way to fix this issue is to force the NIC card to negotiate to 100/Full.
I am not saying to you have Intel NIC card but so far all suspects are on the table.  Your wired NIC card has not been ruled out.
another Apple Airport Extreme which connected to this switch also experiencing this problem.
Hmmmm ... I'm reviewing the TDR result.  What kind of cable is this?  Is this a 1 metre cable?  Can you please change this?

  • How can I use ken burns end transition frame to set cropping size for next segment?

I am trying to figure out how to trivially take a large frame view, in a clip, and use a Ken Burns transition to "zoom" into a new view, and then grab the ending "frame" location and size and set that as the clipping rectangle in the next segment.  It seems like I should be able to just select the end fram view, type CMD-C to copy, and then select the next segment, choose "Clip", and type CMD-V to paste that "rectangle" as the clip.  This doesn't work, so I am looking for another way.  There's nothing in the popup menus or the main menus that I can find.
    Is this possible?

I am afraid there is no easy way to this with Ken Burns. A better way may be to animate the Crop tool instead, using keyframes.

  • Maximum ethernet frame size on usb adapter

    Hi.
I know the usb ethernet adapter on macbook air is fast ethernet, not gigabit.
I would like to know if it is possible to select an ethernet frame size larger than 1500 bytes anyway. Most machines on my Lan cope with larger frames (MTU=5000). Accessing, albeit slower, the gigE network would be nice.
I'd ask Apple's salespeople but they called it a day. Would a happy Macbook Air+Ethernet adapter owner check the choices offered in its network prefs ?
I guess (still under 10.4, here) the location would be: SysPrefs>Networking>Ethernet adapter>Ethernet Tab , then choose Advanced configuration and look for a combo possibly called "Maximum Packet Size (MTU)".
    TIA

Thanks for bringing up this alternative. While I consider Belkin offers solid products, customer reviews from mac users at newegg or amazon do not look too good on this one.
With the strain a USB link usually puts on a CPU there is just no way to get near gigabit performance. + the theoretical max speed of USB2 is already half of that, at 480mbps. Their marketing claim is simply misleading.
Besides there is no mention in belkin's litterature of (baby) jumbo frames support which is really what I am looking for. For me a 100mbps usb link that does no cause too much CPU load is good enough. My question was: will the MBA "see" other machines if the network uses large frames. You can mix 100mpbs and 1000mbps devices seamlessly; you cannot mix standard 1500-byte frames and non standard sized frames on the same network.
I phoned Apple sales support at christian hours the next day. The salesperson was told by a tech that the Apple adapter copes with large frames. That would be great. Somehow I still doubt that. In a couple of weeks I will know for sure. And before that if someone opens up the hood of his MBA for me.
    Thanks.

  • Is it possible to link a resized picture without having it fit automatically to the original frame?

I have two Adobe illustrator images that are very similar, the first is 5 inches wide the second to replace it is 3 inches. I would just place and scale the image in InDesign, but I had to change line weights and shapes because some proportions of the image would just be too small.
When I relink the file it scales the image to fit the existing larger frame. Is there any way the relink file with keeping content of the new file at 100%. I know I can use the content grabber to see how much the content was scaled and fix it, but it is annoying step where you still have to select "fit frame to content afterwards". InDesign, as far as I can tell, gives no warnings to let you know that an image when relinked was  stretched to fit the frame.
    -Thanks

It's in the application prefs, under File Handling. Check or uncheck the box to Preserve Image Dimensions When Relinking. When checked, the relinked image will be scaled to the same dimensions as the old version (possibly distorted). When unchecked, the new image will come in with the same scale factor as the original, which sounds to me like what you want in this case, but I'm not certain  (this is often true for .ai files where an edit is made that moves an element, affecting the art bounding box and you've cropped to art or bounding box rather than media).
Sometimes, if what you want is a 100% zoom it's just easier to place the new image on the pasteboard and move it into position, deleting the old one.
