AIR 3.0 bug with native menu?
Hi
I'm working on HTML/JS AIR application.
App loads native menu from XML, which is accessed from application using nativeWindow.menu. It worked OK in 2.7 and earlier, but recently AIR runtime was updated to 3.0 version and now nativeWindow.menu==null all the time (Mac OS). Could you take a look at this problem please?
BTW, I've another problem with menu on Mac OS (... but no such problem in OS Windws). Menu I created, which is loaded from XML, contains "File" and "Edit" items, but Mac OS creates another "File" and "Edit" items in menu, so Application has 2 duplicated items in menu with different content - first one contains default OS items, but the second - items I'm adding from XML. Could you tell me how can I fix this please? Did I mii something?

Sorry guys, this wasn't a bug in AIR.
It's just necessary to check whether menu is supported by nativeWindow or nativeApplication, instead of trying to access menu from nativeWindow all the time.
For OS windows - nativeWindow, but for Mac - nativeApplication.

How to auto update AIR runtime when installing with native installer?
Hi, we recently changed our app to a native installer for both Windows and OS X.
It seemed that when we distributed a .air file the install process would upgrade the installed version of the AIR runtime (if necessary) before installing our application.
Now it seems that if AIR is installed with an old version (say 2.5) and the native installer app is installed (requiring AIR 3.0) an error message appears that says "Sorry, an error has occurred. The application could not be installed because the installer file is damaged. Try obtaining a new installer file from the application author".
My question is how can we have our native installer bring the user's version of the AIR runtime to the minimum required (3.0) or the latest version (3.6)?
The error message displayed to the user does not provide meaningful info.

The "installer damaged" error message is happening on the first install of our application with older version of the AIR runtime. The app is using the nativeapplicatoinupdater ( http://code.google.com/p/nativeapplicationupdater/ ) project for updates (which is working great once the app is installed).
I performed a few tests on OS X (10.8.2) this evening and here are my results.
AIR 1.5: app install dialog with option to download AIR 3.6 is shown. INSTALL OK

AIR 2.5.: app install dialog with option to download AIR 3.6 IS NOT shown. INSTALL FAILS

So it seems the problem is with AIR 2.04 and 2.5. I uninstalled and reinstalled the AIR runtime for each test. I can consistently reproduce the failed install with 2.04 and 2.5. The same DMG file was used in each test. I have seen similar error messages on Windows 7 when AIR 2.5 was installed, though I didn't get a chance to look at the log to confirm it's the same migration error.
The failed installs seem to drop out because of: "failed while validating native package: Error: invalid migration signature".
Tomorrow I can create a version without the migration certificate to see if it can be successfully installed on 2.04 and 2.5. It's "interesting" that the other versions of the runtime do not fail on this condition.

Adobe air 3.6 Bug With Microphone recording
ok i just tested and i would like to know if i'm the only one.... Everything work fine in 3.5. As soon as i upgrade to 3.6... The microphone only record 1 time on 3-4. Totallly random. It doesn't record at all on IOS.
Somebody got the same problem ?
really sample to test just use the microphone and addEventListener(SampleDataEvent.SAMPLE_DATA,onSampledData);
it will work 1 time on 3-5. I need this fixed asap for my release for my apps.

I can ssh into the Mac, run the package script (adt cmomand), install the ipa, and the Mic doesn't work.
But if I sit at the Mac terminal (same user, same codebase, same machine), run the package script (adt command), install the ipa, and the Mic works!
Madness - is adt somehow sensitive to running headless? Is it getting confused as to whether the Mic is available on the host vs on the target?
BTW - I can't get the Mic working in Android under any circumstances... -
DDP/IMG difference possible? Problems with the menu.

I exported an IMG and a DDP from Encore CS5. The IMG was burned as a DVD-Video. The DDP was burned as Data to a DVD.
Both were sent to a replicator. They made a few hundred copies from the DDP.
The resulting DVDs have a bug on most standalone DVD-Players and on MACs (tested with MacBook and MacBookPro): If you do nothing in the menu for a few seconds it is not possible to select any menu item anymore. The menu has a motion background and music in a loop. But the problem occurs before the loop is played through one time.
BUT ... the DVD-Video from the IMG works fine.
My problem is that I can not determine if Encored did something diffrent with the DDP or if the replicator itnroduced this strange bug somehow.
I have no software available to burn the DDP and see for myself if that works.
So my questions are:
- Has someone experienced differences between DDPs and IMGs?
- Has someone experienced the same wired bug with the menu?

thanks for the offer to check it. But in the meantime I retransmitted (this time as a download) the same image (IMG not DDP as I feared there was something wrong with the DDP) I already gave them. The new batch of DVDs work fine. I guess I will never find out what happend because their communication is rather strange. Either something went wrong on the way with the first image (burning/reading) or they messed something up on their side and would not tell.

AIR bug with iOS fullscreen video! (easy repro)
Here's a bug with fullscreen AIR apps not dealing with iOS fullscreen video resize. Easy repro:
1. Create an mc with a background graphic aligned with the top and bottom of the stage. (This is so you can easily see the bug.)
2. Add a stageWebView and load an html page with embedded video. (or just load a video directly)
3. Play video and enable fullscreen mode.
4. Rotate device 90 degrees while in fullscreen mode and then hit "Done" button to return to stage (exit fullscreen).
5. BUG: Stage is now "pushed down" and off-screen. (even though the mc still traces x = 0)
Conclusion: the display bug occurs when the user exits the iOS native player fullscreen mode from a different orientation then they started with (common if the original aspect ratio was portrait)
Can someone else please confirm this? (The amount of stage "push" appears to corrolate with the height of the iOS status bar.)

PS. You don't necessarily need to load an html page. You can just have stageWebView load a video directly and experience the same result.
PPS. I also tried using the new UIWebView Native Extension and am seeing the same thing, so this is really looking like an AIR/Flash bug with the iOS native player.A simpler summary for this issue:
If the device has been rotated since entering Fullscreen native player, a fullscreen app will be "pushed downwards" and off-screen slightly.
BUG: Adobe AIR app does not stay in fullscreen mode after such and event, ruining graphic UI for fullscreen apps.
Simple workaround: listen for on orientationChange and if stage.displayState == StageDisplayState.NORMAL, set to stage.displayState = StageDisplayState.FULLSCREEN.
However, iOS native player will lose traditional status bar appearance (and risk rejection by Apple??)
Complex workaround (as mentioned earlier) will keep the native player's status bar but result in the app's screen "flashing" upon resizing the stage.
Please help fix this bug by commenting in my bug report. Thanks again.

How can you enable back the Android native Menu button in AIR 2.7?
I've noticed in AIR 2.7 for Android, that now the bottom icons in Android 3.0 Honeycomb are hidden (replaced by small dots) in AIR 2.7, whereas in AIR 2.6 they were always visible. That's cool. Since the bottom bar can never be hidden in Android 3, at least now those icons are less visible (unless you intentionally touch the bottom bar, then the icons show up for a few seconds).
BUT I also noticed in AIR 2.7 compiled apps, the native "Menu" icon is not visible anymore, even after touching the bottom bar. In AIR 2.6 you could see and press that button (which can be captured from AIR so you can show a custom settings menu or whatever).
So, quoting the subject --> How can you enable back the Android native Menu button in AIR 2.7?There is a work around and a reason for the menu issue. Honeycomb doesn't natively support a menu softkey, it is only to support old apps comiled in phone API levels. If you compile a Honeycomb app in 2.7 or 3.0, it is expected you manage the settings within the larger tablet UI framework. See below link for more info and work around.

That aside (still working on it), can you offer any direction in regards to my original question on SDK and AIR compatibility? I'm specifically looking for a version compatibility mapping or anything that definitively states, "Flex SDK x.y.z works with the following versions of AIR". This information is crucial for us in order to more specifically plan our own roadmap built upon these two frameworks as we consider both existing installations of our software and future distributions.

Air Updater with Native applications
I searched the forum for Application updater/ options available for updating our Air application when we use the air native applications.
I know Air ApplicationUpdaterUI does not support native application updates (Air 2.0).

thanksIt was my mistake in configuration of extension.xml file. Instead of mentioning Extesion Initialization funtion i was using context initialization funtions there. It started working after correcting this problem.

Bug Adobe Air 3.5 Beta with method "drawViewPortToBitmapData"

I noticed there is a bug with the lastest build of Air 3.5 beta with the method "drawViewPortToBitmapData".
It resizes the viewport that we want to draw smaller that the original size.
Can you correct this bug before the release ?

Loïc L.This was an issue with retina iPad's prior to AIR 3.5 .. I saw this fixed as of AIR 3.5. Altho it doesnt take a retina screen capture. It captures at 1024 x 768 and scales up to 2048 x 1536

Publishing air apps with native extension with Flash CS6 on Windows
Hi all,
is there any trick to publish air apps with Flash CS6 on Windows?
I tried all native extensions from devnet, but nothing work to me.
I read on Mac is possibility to specify the iOS SDK folder in publish
settings, but on Windows it´s missing.
Is there anybody who has some experiences with publishing apps
with native extensions for iOS and Android with windows Flash CS6?

I'm here again. I got this error when I tried to publish my project with AIR 3.0.. Actually, I've created an application usign AIR 2.6 (default comes with CS 5.5). It was used to get published and I used to update it on regular basis. Few days back I had to copy AIRSDK3 folder to Adobe's program files' folder, where I renamed AIR2.6 to anything else and AIRSDK3 to AIR2.6... Today, when I tried to publish my same project, I got this following error. Hope that would help adobe (as it is beta version).

This worked fine for us prior to version 2, and if we don't get it fixed in
Forte, it means a lot of rework to change the existing comments to single-line
"// ..." format.

Week and a half old iPad Air crashes with light usage of youtube, netflix and safari pages with video links to youtube and vine. The consistency of problems with videos has led me to determine that it must be bugs with iPad Air. Anyone else having this problem?
Details: iPad Air 16gb wifi, have only used about 25% of space and always close all apps before opening another. I also have only had a max of two tabs open on safari of basic internet surfing (i.e. A google search page, or imdb for example). These crashes are annoying as sh......em74 wrote:

I can well imagine that they are.
I would backup, restore to factory settings, restore from the backup and then try again. If that fails, restore again but do not use the backup - restore as new. If the iPad functions OK as new, then slowly rebuild the iPad adding your apps, music etc, methodically to see if you can pin down what might be causing the problem.
if all of that fails, it's time to schedule an appointment at an Apple a Store (must be done online) and have them take a look, or of it is lees than two weeks old, just return it for a refund and buy another one. -
