Air 3.0 crashes on reactivate [android]

With Air 3.0, once i minimize an app on Android, more often than not it crashes when i re-open it.
Using captive runtime i see the issue:
-Existing game i have created working fine on Air 2.5 , 2.6, 2.7
-New app with nothing but a square drawn on stage.
In addition, I have also taken the Runtime.apk from the Air 3 SDK, installed it, and now when i use other known Air games from the android market, they also crash upon reactivating most of the time.
Is anyone else using Air 3.0? can you confirm if this is happening as well before i submit a bug?
I am using only a motorola droidX w 2.3 OS

come on, no one else noticed this?
Its happening on both of the 2 android devices i tested on (droidX and droid2), any app with code or not. (GPU mode only)
I submitted a bug with the full crash error in log cat
https://bugbase.adobe.com/index.cfm?event=bug&id=2975797
This line at the beginning of the crash sure looks suspicious to me!

After updating to iOS 8 the iPad Air is getting crashed frequently including safari.

Have you tried to reset it? Hold down the sleep and home keys for about 20 seconds. When you see the silver apple, let go and let it reboot and see if that helps.
You may need to restore your iPad. That's where you back it up, then restore it to factory defaults, then put your backup back on so you don't lose any data. Sometimes a fresh start clears out any glitches and can help.

  • Is anybody else having their Adobe AIR iOS app crash within the first second of opening it?

Is anybody else having their Adobe AIR iOS app crash within the first second of opening it?
I am using iPhone 6, iOS 8.1.3, with a development certificate.
With Adobe AIR SDK 16.0.0.283 and now with 17.0.0.93, after compiling the app (whether in release mode or debug mode), before the app getTimer() can ever reach 999 milliseconds the app will crash. No matter what code I have, it is just crashing before the runtime can ever reach the first second.
Anybody else having this kind of behavior?

    Chris,
Thanks for your prompt reply. I have found the way to reproduce. It is about interfaces, and when I try to call a method through an interface the app crashes. I think that it is related to having an interface with many parameters. I have logged the bug here:
Bug#3935199 - iOS App crashes when calling an objects method through interface

  • AIR App now crashes with AIR 15 runtime (did not crash with earlier versions of AIR)

    Hi,
We've noticed our AIR application now crashes when the AIR 15 (the latest version available from Adobe) runtime is installed.  This did not happen with earlier versions of AIR.  The app does not crash when I debug in Flash Builder so I cannot identify the exact issue.  The app will crash EVERY time when running the .exe on Windows.  The crash happens on Windows XP and Windows 7.  The app does not crash on OS X.
The message in Event Viewer says:

Please let me know if you'd like any additional information.  This is such a bummer that an AIR update renders our app useless in Windows.
    Thank you.

I'm sorry this is happening.  Could you please open a new bug report on this over at bugbase.adobe.com?  When adding the bug, please include sample code or an application so we can quickly test this out internally.  If you'd like to keep this private, feel free to email the attachment to me directly ([email protected]).
Once added, please post back with the URL and I'll follow up internally.
Previous versions of the AIR runtime can be found here: Archived Adobe AIR SDK versions

  • Mb air crashes when attaching android via usb

Running 10.6.8. Have had no problems since getting the Air and the MyTouch Android. Many times connected with no problems. Started last week. No other USB devices are a problem, only the phone. Both Air and Android are up to date. Happens regardless of other apps running or not. Ran the hardware test okay. Any thoughts? Thanks...

  • AIR iOS hard crashes: wakeup - Observed 503/sec over 300 secs

    Hi,
for a project I had to download a file with around 3GB.
So I decided to write a chunk based download controller, which easily does the following:
    - open an URLStream
    - Load the file by URLRequest
    - Wait for the progress events and check, that we have more than 5MB in the buffer
    - Write the bytes to an local file by using an Bytearray+Filestream combination
Additional I have implemented a workaround for the file size limit regarding to the Android specs,
that the local files is chunked when, the file exceeds the file size limit.
This solution works fine in this cases / test systems:
    - Desktop - Windows
    - Desktop - Mac
    - Android - Debug
    - Android - Release
    - iOS 8.1.3 - Debug - fast interpreter mode
But when I try to compile and run / debug the app for iOS with the following modes:
    - Release build Store
    - Release build AdHoc
    - Debug build without fast interpreter
The app crashes hard during the download.
I isolated my download controller and created a simple test app, which is using a simple sprite
    and runs the download controller.
During the download the app is not completely hard crashing but the xcode console detects 1-2 crashes:

The debugger did not detect any error.
    I tested AIR 15, 16.
Maybe this is a iOS restriction regarding to the new battery consumption limitations for apps.
    So I tried to:
    - Set the framerate to max. 30FPS
    - Extend to buffer size before write to test on ProgressEvent form 512KB to 5MB
But the crashes are staying and the observed wakeups are not reducing.
Has anyone an idea how to solve this?

Thanks for the reply. I'm not sure if it's iOS 8 only, and I'm having a hard time reproducing the crash at my office after letting it run for 24 hours. I only see the crash results on the iPad after the fact.
I can send the code for the project to someone, if that will help. Who would I send it to?
In the meantime, do you have any recommendations for how to force an excess number of wakeups? I figure if I can force the crash, then I can see if it helps to try the latest AIR SDK or make other changes.
Also, here is a little more info about the project:
    - Uses Starling.
    - Uses video playing in a webview (with darkredz ANE).
    - Uses Apple's Guided Access to lock out app switching.
Do any of these things seem more likely to cause issues with thread management? I'm guessing that the app never goes into background mode, since it's locked to this one app. But would the iPad going to sleep force it into background mode somehow?
    Thanks for the help.

  • Adobe AIR 4 &13 crash or closes without bugs or reason

When testing my app in Flash IDE, randomly and without reaspon (no bug), the player closes :
    [UnloadSWF] myclip.swf
    Test Movie terminated.
My clip is pretty intensive since it uses Starling and Nape. Used to work ok on small levels, but on bigger levels (more memory used) it just randomly happens.
    Any idea ?
update : the crash happens when I'm not moving my player anymore (no more key press). As long as I key press I'm good, once I release the key, BOOM.
update2 : Publish engine is Air 4/13 for Android
update3 : happens also when moving player (key down) but more often on idle

Flash & Air runtime use virtual machine and if it don't respond - Runtime will terminate itself. This can be initiated without CPU hogs so you can't see any warnings or CPU slowdown. I saw this time to time.
First of all - you need find minium source code that can generate this issue and sent it to bug base. But if you want - you can send it to me firstly. Any NDA will be reserved.
And I can investigate it. And if there some runtime error - I will publish to Adobe team into bugbase.
    Firstly let me know:
    1) Flash ide version
    2) As I understand - it's Windows? Not MacOS..
    3) Do you saw Adobe Scout report? May be there some memory leaks or GPU overload...

  • Folio crashes viewer on Android

    Hi everyone,
We tried both "Adobe Content Viewer" and "DPS Tips" apps for Android on the HP TouchPad running CyanogenMod 7.1 Android Alpha 3.
And got two problems so far:
    1) There is problem to sign in with existing Adobe ID in the "Adobe Content Viewer" app - it fails to authenticate few times but then finally gets through.
    2) Then opening of the folio (any even simple with no overlays) crashes the app with this error:
"The application Adobe Viewer (process air.com.adobe.contentviewer) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again".
First we thought it's CyanogenMod distro problems but then read that others also had same problems but on the different Android devices:
    https://market.android.com/details?id=air.com.adobe.contentviewer&feature=search_result#?t =W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImFpci5jb20uYWRvYmUuY29udGVudHZpZXdlciJd
    Few questions:
    1) Is there stable Android device that is working flawlessly with "Adobe Content Viewer"? What devices/Android versions are used by Adobe for development/testing?
    2) Are there any Android system settings that could be tweaked so the Viewer app will not crash on the opening of folio? Is there any table exist with Viewer app/device compatibility/issues or list of supporting devices?
    3) Is there any Air app that could be used for testing what Air functionality is working on the specific Android system and what doesn't? Or are there any other tools/logs available to troubleshoot the problem?
    Thank you for the help,
    Gennady

No, the documentation doesn't go into specifics about which HTML/web views work and which ones don't. The program team is currently working on improving this area.

  • Opening Folio Crashes Viewer on Android

    Hi guys,
We tried "Adobe Content Viewer" and "DPS Tips" apps for Android on the HP TouchPad running latest CyanogenMod 9 (Android 4.0.4): cm-9-20130512-NIGHTLY-tenderloin.zip
And still have the problem when opening the folio crashes the app with the error:
    "Unfortunately, Adobe Viewer has stopped".
First we thought it's CyanogenMod distro problems but then read that others also having the same problem even on the popular Samsung Galaxy Tab, please see that review below.
Anything could be done so it will start to work? Is there non-Air version currently in development?
    Thank you,
    Gennady

    "A Google User - February 11, 2013 - Version 3.0.0.0.69658
    Samsung Galaxy Tab
Login and download fine, but crashes as soon as you open any publication. Update 02/11/13: Still crashes as soon as you open a publication on both my galaxy nexus and galaxy tab (Both Running Jelly Bean). Once it tries to open it and it crashes it tries to open and crash the same folio until you uninstall and reinstall the app.  During the attempted cases of reopening the app sometimes the initial view of the folio will load but quickly crash. Really wish this thing would get fixed."

Is the live viewer/app in Google Play below V25? If so, update your app to the latest V26/V25 Viewer. There were significant changes made in V25 to avoid this type of crashing behaviour.
**CyanogenMod crashes are not supported. If you have an incident reported from your customer who is running a stock OS, contact DPS Gold Support.

Remote doesn't work No longer has remote feature after Lollipop update to Galaxy S5
Mike de Gouveia February 8, 2015
Not compatible with Android L This was an OK app before I updated my S5 to lollipop. It was a bit glitchy with scheduling recordings and scrolling through TV listings before, but now it is just terrible and does not even allow me to use the app as a remote control and is always crashing. I'm keeping the app because I'm hopeful that they will resolve the compatibility issues because it is pretty convenient having an app running off the WiFi to control the DVR. I will submit a new review once they do.
    Robert DeNuto February 9, 2015
"restore to factory settings and try again." I contacted FiOS support because after updating my S5 to Lollipop, the app would no longer recognize that I was connected to my FiOS router. As a result, I couldn't change the channels on my FiOS set top box or watch FiOS programs on my phone

Please fix the Lollipop S5 issue The remote portion is the only reason to have this app, and since it had been rendered useless ever since Lollipop was pushed - I have to rate 1 star. Once fixed I will gladly update

  • App crash on startup (Android) UnsatisfiedLinkError

    Hi all,
Our AIR-based game has been out on Android and iOS for about a week now.
    http://www.pixelthismobile.com/blog
However, we have one crash report from a Google Nexus One that reports:
    Exception class java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError
    Source method AIRWindowSurfaceView.nativeOnFormatChangeListener()
And that is about it.  No stack trace, as Google Play says the device 'predates Froyo' which is apparently Android 2.2.  However, the owner of the device got in contact with us (after posting a nasty public comment of course) and said his phone is 2.3.6.  The Nexus One is on the list of supported devices.
It seems very similar to what this guy has (but no responses to his post):
    http://www.thelittlebirdytoldmeso.com/(S(bpe1v245bsxowi45qfjoov45))/userActions/thread/Que stion.aspx?id=11063930
I also see an older post on these forums that is similar, but it relates to an unsupported device (unsupported ARM version), however the Nexus One is in the list of supported devices, and we have also tested on one.  Are there perhaps many models of Nexus One?
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/3987114#3987114
    Any help much appreciated!
    Cheers,
    Peter

We've been having the same issue in our application when running on some Android phones. It is still not completely clear what is causing the crash. But I saw some reports suggesting that it might be because of lack of free available space on a device. Adobe AIR needs some extra space when launched first time to unpack itself from the apk (if built with captive runtime).
