Hi,
I need to upgrade my APs to c1130-k9w7-tar.123-8.JA2.tar
Could you please provide me with some documentation on how to do it
thank you
Cris

Hi Cris,
Here are the methods for 1100 Series AP's;
Working with Software Images
This section describes how to archive (download and upload) software image files, which contain the system software, IOS code, radio firmware, and the web management HTML files.

  • POE for Aironet 1131 on Catalyst Express 500

    Hi all,
we are using 3 AP Aironet 1131 (Version 12.4(10b)JA3) in a WDS. All are connected to a Switch Catalyst Express 500 to receive their Power. The Problem is they work for some time and the the AP reloads without further errormessage.
Speed and Duplex mode are fixed on Switch and AP-Side. Does anybody now this problem or can give me a hint?
    Thanks in Advance
    Alex

This can happen if power settings are configured incorrectly on the AP. Ensure that the correct parameters are configured. Here is a link which explains how to configure power on APs.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/access_point/12.3_2_JA/configuration/guide/s32frst.html#wp1103896
Also, try disabling CDP and check if you are seeing the issue again.

  • Usb to serial converter console access on aironet 1131

I am having difficulty accessing the console port utilizing a usb to serial converter. My settings are 9600, 8,n,1 and flow control is none.
The converter works if I use it for switches and router but fails on the aironet.
I can access the aironet if I go directly to the serial port.

    Hi,
I haven't seen this problem except when I chose the incorrect COM port in my terminal emulator. Otherwise, usb-to-serial cables haven't presented any issues with Aironet equipment.
Sorry I couldn't help further. Maybe someone else has seen this issue.

  • Intel 2200BG wifi nic and aironet 1131 LWAPP's

We recently had a nice sized installation of 1131 LWAPPS's (180) w/ WLC's and a WCS. The problem I'm having is out of the blue one day my Dell Latitude D400 w/ intell 2200BG internal wifi just disconnected and I wasn't able to reconnect. I've since formatted and rebuilt the system to ensure it's the latest n' greatest drivers (I'm running 9.0.4.13) from Dell. I checked Intel's site and they have 9.0.3.26 but nothing mentioned about the connection to LWAPP's problem. I can connect at home and other locations just fine. If I put in an external nic, I can connect to the 1131 LWAPP.
    Suggestions? Help?

    Hi Rob,
My WLC current software version is 4.0.179.8. Please tell us the stability of 4.0.206.0.
I enabled only 802.11b and 802.11g in my LWAPP environment. The LAP model is LAP1242AG-C-K9. Antenna is AIR-ANT4941 (diversity).
I'm using L3 LWAPP transport mode; the two WLCs (within the same Mobility/RF group) are located at a centralized data center while the LAPs are located at a remote office building. WAN is MPLS L3 VPN. WLC redundancy mode is 1+1. All LAPs join to one controller; the other acts as hot standby.
Clients use Windows Zero Configuration (WZC). Encryption is WPA2/AES and user authentication is using Microsoft PEAP against a backend AD. ACS version 4.0.
Clients use Dell Latitude D610 with Intel PRO 2200BG chipset. Driver version is either 9.0.4.17 or the latest 9.0.4.26. They face frequent disconnections while users with 3945ABG chipset have more stable connections.
    Please advise.
    Thank you.

  • Aironet 1252 IOS Upgrade Radio Failure

Did anyone else learn this the hard way?  I upgraded a bunch of 1252's using my WLSE to 12.4(21a)JA1 and the radio's crapped out after the upgrade.  I've found references to having to have to shutdown the radios before the IOS upgrade.  What's up with that?
    brian

Nope.  I have autonomous and LWAP APs running this IOS version and I have no issues about it.  Can you post the logs during bootup?

  • How many users are supported on a Cisco Aironet 1141N? 30?

I have a client that wants to upgrade his Aironet 1131 APs with 1141N.  How many users are supported on a Cisco Aironet 1141N?

Yes, you could have 30 clients on the AP.
Client density all depends on what the client is doing, really.
So if you have clients that are just web surfing and pulling email 30+ isn't a problem.  If they are all streaming video, then you want to plan for less clients per AP, and more APs.

  • Trying to setup 1131 in autonomous mode with multiple ssids and vlans

    hi there,
I'm trying to setup an aironet 1131 in autonomous mode with a WLAN for each VLAN.
I can connect to the SSID "BLUGstaff" but I don't pick up a DHCP address and when I set a static IP I can't anything on the vlan so I can only assume I have made an error.
I have attached the config for the access point.
The switch port the access point connects to has the following config...
    interface FastEthernet1/0/3
    description ## Access Point ##
    switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
    switchport trunk native vlan 121
    switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,121-124
    switchport mode trunk
    spanning-tree portfast
    end
Can anyone explain what I've done wrong? Thanks in advance for any help,
    Huw

    Hello Huw,
as i see in your confirguartion.
native VLAN is 121. so you have to correct following in your AP configuration
    1) interface Dot11Radio0.121
    encapsulation dot1Q 121 native
    bridge-group 121         ->>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> change this to brige-group 1 , native always tied to bridge group 1
    2)
    interface FastEthernet0.121
    encapsulation dot1Q 121
add also under this sub interface
    bridge-group 1
please let me know how it goes.
    Kind regards

  • Missing machine authentication - peap acs

    Hi,
    my setup is:
Cisco ACS 4.0 Release 4.0(1) Build 27 (with thawte certificate)
    WLC 4402 ver 4.0.179.8
    Aironet 1131 LWAPP
dell laptop with windows xp sp2 with peap auth (using win control of wlan card)
I experience problem with missing machine authentication even though I have enabled this in acs (Enable PEAP machine authentication). The regkey on the pc's are standard windows (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\EAPOL\Parameters\General\Global with no value set = 0)
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/309448/en-us
I get these messages in the wlc log:
    AUTH 14/09/2006 08:48:58 E 0143 2688 [PDE]: PdeAttributeSet::addAttribute: invalid attr type=201
    AUTH 14/09/2006 08:48:58 E 0376 3852 External DB [NTAuthenDLL.dll]: MachineSPNToSAM: __DsCrackNames failed
anyone who can point me in the right direction?
Is it a windows client problem or a WLC/ACS problem?
    regards rolf

    Hi,
still have problem with machine authentication that stops working after 3-4days. I narrowed this down to the Cisco ACS, as the only way to resolve this is to reboot the win2003 server running Cisco ACS. I did put en error in my first post, it's not the wlc log that reports this:
    AUTH 26/09/2006 07:51:16 E 0143 0500 [PDE]: PdeAttributeSet::addAttribute: invalid attr type=201
    AUTH 26/09/2006 07:51:16 E 0376 0132 External DB [NTAuthenDLL.dll]: MachineSPNToSAM: __DsCrackNames failed
It is the Csauth log on the ACS. Have anybody seen this error message and know what it refers to?
My problem now is that machine authentication works ok for some days, then stops and then the listed error messages starts coming in the csauth log.
    regards rolf

  • LWAPP Site Survey methodology

I have been doing site surveys the "old fashioned" way for quite some time.
I am interested in how the survey is performed utilizing the new lightweight AP's.
Mainly, how do you determine AP location if there is no way to configure the AP itself?
Do these surveys require the use of a Controller?
Can I still design the infrastructure to physically load balance the network or am I at the mercy of this little box?
Also, do I have any control over channel allocation? I don't like to put channel 11 near Microwave ovens if I can help it, but I would like to know that if any thing gets switched, is it going to be switched back?
Any links that would describe the "new" survey process would be very apprieciated.
    Thanks-

I can confirm that when I asked the same question, no "survey mode" exists on the AIR-LAP1131AG or AIR-LAP1242AG.
That said, you can convert these APs to autonomous mode (there are a number of threads on this forum that discuss how to do this). After you are done with the site survey you can flip the APs back.
From the Cisco "Wireless Site Survey FAQ - Document ID: 68666"
"Q. Can I perform a site survey using Cisco Aironet 1131 and 1242 access points and then use the results to deploy an Airespace wireless solution?
    A. Yes, you can do this as long as a proper site survey is conducted and the results yield an effective Wireless solution. In this case, you can use any site survey tool."
If you intend on carrying your RF settings manually once deployed using the WLC, you will need to refer to the following document which correlates autonomous power settings (in dB) to the WLC power setttings 1, 2, 3, etc.
Excerpt from WLC Configuration Guide v4.0:
"The transmit power level is assigned an integer value instead of a value in mW or dBm. The integer corresponds to a power level that varies depending on the regulatory domain in which the access points
are deployed. The number of available power levels varies based on the access point model. However, power level 1 is always the maximum power level allowed per country code setting, with each successive power level representing 50% of the previous power level. For example, 1 = maximum power level in a particular regulatory domain, 2 = 50% power, 3 = 25% power, 4 = 12.5% power, and so on.
Note: Refer to the hardware installation guide for your access point for the maximum transmit power levels supported per regulatory domain. Also, refer to the data sheet for your access point for the number of power levels supported."
Final thought: I have found that the AUTO RF tends to work better if you start out your APs with manual channel settings from your site survey and then release everything to AUTO RF at the same time. The automatic channel choices that the WLC comes up with are not optimal.
The steps to doing this are:
    1) Changing the global AUTO RF setting to manual channel selection or ON DEMAND. Power setting can stay on automatic.
    2) Change your APs to the manual settings from your survey.
    3) Change the APs to automatic RF settings. (They will not change until AUTO RF channel selection is re-enabled.)
    4) Re-enable AUTO RF channel selection.
This is not official from Cisco, simply based upon my own observations. However, my experience so far has been that the channel settings I pick tend to work better (I see higher power level settings on the APs since they have less co-channel interference) and WLC will continue to use the manual channel settings unless the some significant outside interference is encountered.

  • Aironet1131 Issues

Hello. I have 3 Aironet 1131's and we use 2 ssid's. One is public which is routed straight to internet and the other is routed to our internal net. However, performance is spotty and the public side has pretty much ceased to give out a usable address. Can anyone provide guidance? Also is there a concurrent connection limit on these?
I am attaching a sample config.

    Hi Jerry:
No, there's not a concurrent connection limit on any of the wireless products, just the question of how many users can actually share a half-duplex link passing a reasonable amount of traffic.  Concurrent connections doesn't sound like the problem anyway.
Troubleshooting wireless connectivity is like peeling an onion--layers on layers to isolate where the problem is.  "...Performance is spotty..." could be a wireless coverage issue, where "...pretty much ceased to give out a usable address..." would likely be more of a configuration issue.
A good troubleshooting approach would be to move from the things you're sure of toward the things you're not sure of.  In this scenario, you'll want to make sure that:
wired clients that connect to ports in VLAN 10 and VLAN 21 actually get addresses they're supposed to (to rule out a DHCP problem)
the APs are connected to switchports that are configured as trunks, allowing only VLANs 1, 10 and 21, and that VLAN 1 is native
To test that this is working correctly, temporarily disable the security on each SSID and have a client associate.  Taking security weirdness and complication out of the picture will allow you to confirm that your back end "plumbing" is all as it should be.  Once that's confirmed, put your security back on.
As far as "spotty" is concerned, the only way to know what's going on there would be to do a site survey, and possibly have someone come bring a Cisco Spectrum Expert card to the site to check for interference.

  • Event log errors after upgrading Aironet 1100

We have upgraded an Aironet 1100 to 12.3(8)JA. We used TFTP for the upgrade and everything seems to be working properly.
However, the event log shows the following message every four seconds: "System running-config write error; configuration failed" This has Error as the severity.
Every thirty minutes another, Critical error is logged "Memory allocation of 900000 bytes failed from 0x22DC78, alignment 0"
I've searched the site and can't seem to locate applicable information on these errors and what they mean. Can someone help?
    Thanks!

Oddly enough, this is the most stable AP we have! A PDA can connect to it and stay connnected, whereas our other 1100s (which have not been upgraded and generate the same error messages but only once or twice a day)will permit a device to connect then boot it off after a few seconds to several minutes. We thought the upgrade would make the AP connections more stable but were surprised to see the error messages being generated so rapidly.

  • Upgrading IOS on Aironet 1310

I want to upgrade the IOS on a couple of our Aironet 1310s but do it wirelessly. The bridges I am upgrading are not accessible at the time I wish to carry out the work which is why I am not doing it via a wired connection. It isnt an ideal situation but an alternative requires an outage during working hours.
A recently purchased 1310 had a sticker on it saying the radio interface is disabled by default in newer IOS images. Does this mean that when I upgrade the software it will automatically disable the radio interface when I reload? If that is the case I will have no alternative but to organise an outage.

hope this URL will be of help.

  • Problems upgrading 1131 WAPs to 2602 WAPs

We are trying to upgrade our 1131 WAPs to the newer 2602 WAPs and with the older 1131 WAPs we used the NetGear WNCE2001 wireless controller for our old DOS PCs and they work pretty good. But now with the newer 2602 WAPs the NetGear WNCE2001 WLC device will authenticate and it looks good but when we try to get the DOS PC up and running it fails. We use 3c509 NICs in the DOS PCs.
The error mesage in our syslog is:
#DTL-4-ARP_ORPHANPKT_DETECTED: dtl_net.c:2662 STA(Target MAC Address) [e0:46:9a:2e:9e:3a, 10.68.6.131] ARP (op ARP REQUEST) received with invalid SPA(Source IP Address) 10.68.6.152/TPA(Destination IP Address) 10.68.6.152
The MAC address e0:46:9a:2e:9e:3a is the NetGear WNCE2001 WLC along with the IP address 10.68.6.131
And the IP address 10.68.6.152 is the DOS PC that is connected to the NetGear WLC.
I'm sure there are a lot of differences between the Cisco 1131 WAPs and the newer 2602 WAPs but why won't the newer 2602 WAPs pass the traffic of the device connected to the NetGear WLC?
Oh, and yes we use the Cisco 2504 WLC for these 2602 WAPs, and we have set up a SSID just for the DOS PC and we are using WPA2-PSK. On the older 1131 WAPs we were only using WEP.
    Thanks
    Steven

I'm having the exact same problem, but with 3602s.  In my case, I've set the security to none and use MAC filtering via ISE.  I can see the netgear wnce2001 authenticate with no problems and get an IP address from DHCP.  I can also see it associated to the WLC and I can ping it for about 30 seconds.  The WLAN light never comes on and eventually, the LAN light will go off and then come back on and at this point, it's no longer associated to the WLC and I can't ping it.

  • Cisco Aironet 1130AG Upgrade, No Web Logins Now

I did an upgrade from c1130-k9w7-tar.123-8.JA to C1130-K9W7-M), Version 12.4(21a)JA1 and now I can't login to my Aironet web interface. I can telnet to the AP and make any changes, but no web login. I'm stumped.

You need to tell the http service to use your local user accounts. I don't have an IOS AP handy, but it sounds like you have user credentials setup correctly but the http server is not set to use them. I'll see if I can dig up an AP to check on the specific syntax for you.

  • How to upgrade an Aironet 3602e from Autonomous to Lightweight???

    Hi everyone
Hope you can help me with this. I have an Aironet 3602e that was bought as a Lightweight AP, last week need to do some testing and changed the image to an Autonomous one. Now I need to use it with a Controller, but can´t find the procedure to upgrade it to Lightweight again.
I tried the procedure of the upgrade tool, but it saids that this AP is nos supported.
Anyone who has this information please. I already had the Lightweight images.
    Best Regards
    Alvaro Rugama

    HI Alvaro,
For the LWAP conversion, use the recovery image. We can use this command on the autonomous AP priviledge mode.
    AP#archive download-sw /force-reload /overwrite tftp://10.10.10.1/image.tar
    Regards
    Hope it helps.
