Aironet 1310 interface dot11 0 stuck in reset

Hi trying to connect two APs with one being root and the other non root. After configuring, the wireless interface on the non root remains stuck
int reset mode. Below is the error message i get and have tried and cant find out what the problem is.
%DOT11-4-CANT_ASSOC: Interface Dot11Radio0, cannot associate: No Response
Will appreciate any help. thanks

As per dmantill mention once we have a 1310 in root bridge and the other one in non root bridge the non root bridge will not enable the radio until it sees a good signal from the root bridge and its status will be reset down.
Remember that we have 2 types of 1310 the ones with build in antennas and the ones with no build in antenna and require and external antenna connected to it.
To know if your unit has a build in antenna or not the part number will not include a (-R) if it has a (–R) it means that the unit does not have a build in antenna.
Also remember that when we work with bridges we need to set them in install mode (install root bridge and install non root bridge)this mode will only allow the units to associate to each other and not pass traffic and the led’s on the back of the unit will stop works as usual and help us for antenna alignment between the units.
Here is the link that lets us know what each sequence we get on the leds once in install mode to know how god the antenna aliment or signal is.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/access_point/1300/installation/guide/130h_c3.html#wp1056656
Also remember that when working with bridges by defaults the units are set to work at full power and this would create 2 scenarios.
For example, if the units are able to cover up to 5km with full power if the distance between the units is more than 5 km then they will not be able connect and if the distance is shorter than 5 km let’s say 1 km and we leave the units at full power there is going to be too much interface and signal to noise on the connection due to the short distance between the units and at the end this could make the units not see a good signal between them.
For instance lets say we are on a football field and each of us is on a touchdown side and for us to be able to hear each other we need to scream to each other, but if we then walk to the center of the field and we keeping screaming we are going to hear ourselves but we will not be able to understand what we are saying to each other and we will need to lower our voice.
Here is the outdoor range calculation utility to check what is the exact distance we can cover with a unit and at an specific data rate.

  • Aironet 1310 to dot11 Bridge?

Is there a way to create a bridge between a Linksys WAP54GPE and a Cisco 1310?
Linksys states Bridge and Repeater are only available with other Lonksys products. But the Aironet 1310 offers the universal workgroup bridge mode. Does this work?
As well i am looking for a WiFi network monitor (show available networks and signal ratio) for the 1310.
    Thank you for your suggestions!
    Bert

That is the major difference between home equipment and Enterprise equipment. Even the the ap's Cisco sells allows you to configure the device in different modes. If you are looking at Linksys products, then you have to buy a device specific to your needs.

I changed the role in the network to Root node on this brodge and the radio interfaces came up, but this device stopped talking to other network.
There is similar  1310 bridge set up in such a dierction so that it can talk to this bridge, but this is not pinging from the rest of the network.
One Small ESW-520-8P switch is connected to this 1310 bridge but the switch can be pinged from the bridge.
Does that mean it is faulty or antenna problem...

  • Lost The Cisco Aironet 1310 Web Interface????

I've been having connection issues with my (2) Aironet 1310, which are setup in a bridge p2p mode.  A few weeks ago we had a power outage due to a lighting storm.  Well, it knocked out my non-root bridge (not connecting to the root).  So I brought it back to check the configurations, but when I try to use the web console all I get is the following page:
When I click the "Web Console" link it takes me to the following page:
Is there a way to get the original web console page back?

    here is the command..
    archive download-sw / force-reload /overwrite tftp:///
    Example..
    archive download-sw / force-reload /overwrite tftp:///c1310-k9w7-tar.124-21a.JA1.TAR
to get the .TAR, go to the folder where the image is saved and then Tools >> folder options >> view >> check >> show hidden files and folders.
Now click on the image and then copy the image name and then paste the same on the CLI... then this come as IMAGE.TAR that is.. c1310-k9w7-tar.124-21a.JA1.TAR instead of c1310-k9w7-tar.124-21a.JA1
    it should be c1310-k9w7-tar.124-21a.JA1.TAR
lemme know how this works out for you!! if you face any difficulties while upgrading please open up a TAC case.. we wil solve this in less than 5 minutes... and the network wil be back up!!

  • Aironet 1200 Interface changed state to reset

    Hello,
I have used the command snmpset to change the properties of my ap.
After that, i got the following message:
Notification: Interface Dot11Radio0, changed state to reset.
When the AP resets its state, all the clients are disconnected.
How can i avoid the reset of the AP?
I want to make changes dynamically - and also i want my clients to maintain their connection.

    Hello again,
Yes it's my mistake, the AP restarts for the new changes to take effect. It doesnt reset.
Particularly i change the MAX Association number of the clients using SNMP.
When i do this the AP disconnects all the clients!
Is it necessary or i have a wrong firmware version.

In order to get either the repeater or the workgroup bridge functionality working, you would likely need to have a Cisco AP as root. This is because the repeater and workgroup-bridge functionalities require Cisco Aironet Information Element (IE), which requires a Cisco root AP. There is no standard for interoperability for these functionalities (not part of any 802.11 standards). You can always try to connect them, making sure that they are using the same authentication/encryption configuration. However, it is unlikely to work.

  • Aironet 1310 Bridges keep losing connection

There was a similar thread about this last year and I tried what was listed in there to no avail.  I have 2 Aironet 1310 bridges, one as a route bridge and the second as a non-route with clients.  These worked great for nearly a year, we had no problems keeping the connection up.  They were not connected for the last few months but nothing was changed on the configuration, when I put them back up they reconnected just fine and worked for about an hour, not they randomly disconnect with the same message in the log entries below.  Is there something wrong with them now?  The are using the same antennas as before and are in the same exact locations.

I am not at the remote location any more, but the route bridge had a signal of -78 dB and a SNR of -22 dB.  The non-route has -77dB for signal and a SNR of -22 dB.  The location has line of sight, over water with nothing in the way.
Since I last posted I changed the fragmentation and RTS thresholds back to default from 4000 and it has been up for 24 hours now.  I am hoping that it has made the difference.

  • Aironet 1310 errors...

    Hi,
we have got two ofices in different area. We decided to connect them with two AP's Aironet 1310 with mode point-to-point bridge. We have voice traffic over this wi-fi channel. If we use IOS 12.3(4)-JA we have noticed many errors in the logs 1310 such as "DOT11-4-MAXRETRIES: Packet to client [mac] reached max retries, remove
the client" or "DOT11-4-UPLINK_LINK_DOWN: Interface Dot11Radio0, parent lost: To many retries". The connection betwen AP's is down at regular intervals and not established again. The connection has upped only after disconnect and reconnect the power injector power jack. Time to response is less than 100 ms for ping. We have changed IOS ver 12.3(8)-JA2 and unfortunately it doesn't help, though the errors has noticed less, but Time to response is between 70 ms and 5000 ms. It is too bad for normal work in our ofices, we wanted to have Time to response about 50 ms. Could you advise something?
    Thanks.

Packet to client MAC reached max retries, remove the client" is happened when your client try to associate AP which doesn't support client function correctly (usually authentication type doesn'tmatch).

  • Need Assistence Configuring 2 Aironet 1310s as a Bridge

I'm just starting to setup 2 1310s as a bridge for the first time. I've setup some basic settings through the web interface: IP settings on the BVIs, single SSID, and no security (yet). Also, I've set one as a root-bridge and the other as a non-root bridge. Things seem to look good so far on the root bridge, but when I try to enable the the dot11 interface on the non-root bridge, I keep getting the following message in the log:
%LINK-5-CHANGED: Interface Dot11Radio0, changed state to reset
%DOT11-4-CANT_ASSOC: Interface Dot11Radio0, cannot associate: No Response
I guess the first obvious question is: should I be able to establish a wireless signal without the external antennas? I don't have the external antennas yet, but my understanding is that I can establish a wireless signal without them as long as the 2 1310s are fairly close together; right now they are in my lab only a couple feet apart.
If my assumption is correct, what am I missing here?
    Thanks,
    Sean

Thanks for the response, I do have the internal antennas enabled. Unfortunately, I don't have rubber duck antennas to work with, but it sounds like the internal antennas should work for testing. I also have the TNC connectors facing each other. I'm still getting the same error. Here, let me include the configurations, maybe someone will notice my mistake:

  • Aironet 1310

hi everybody i am santosh , i have a cisco aironet 1310 running 12.4(10b)JA1 and c1310-k9w7-mx.124-10b.JA1/c1310-k9w7-mx.124-10b.JA , it was working fine but suddenly i found that it has gone to AP mode while all these days it was working in Bridgemode . could any one tell me how to revert it back to bridge mode .

You are correct.  The power injector is just that and the bridge unit actually has all the intelligence in it.    The power injector is just your interface connection to the unit for console and ethernet and provides power to the bridge.

  • Upgrading IOS on Aironet 1310

I want to upgrade the IOS on a couple of our Aironet 1310s but do it wirelessly. The bridges I am upgrading are not accessible at the time I wish to carry out the work which is why I am not doing it via a wired connection. It isnt an ideal situation but an alternative requires an outage during working hours.
A recently purchased 1310 had a sticker on it saying the radio interface is disabled by default in newer IOS images. Does this mean that when I upgrade the software it will automatically disable the radio interface when I reload? If that is the case I will have no alternative but to organise an outage.

hope this URL will be of help.

  • Aironet 1310, power injector and poe cable

    Hello,
Can the power injector delivered with aironet 1310 be supplied by a PoE RJ45 cable rather than the traditionnel DC adapter?
The problem is, i thought Aironet 1310 was PoE. Which means it can be power supplied by a rj45 cable.
But, when i openned my brand new 1310 box, i realized that 1st, it needs that Power Injector to work and that 2nd, Power injector needs a power supply...
Usually when i buy a PoE access point, I just plug in my PoE rj45 cable and its power supplied :)
Anyway, i hope there's an issue for this because where the 1310 should be placed, there's only a PoE rj45 cable arriving.
    Thanks in advance,
    lachapelle

    Hi lachapelle,
Sadly the 1310 cannot be powered by PoE ,but, the Power Injector can be up to 100 meters away from the unit.
Dual coaxial cable to run from the power injector to the 1300. See attached notes:
    Cisco Aironet 1300 Series
Cisco Aironet 1300 Series Access Point/Bridge Power Injector
The Cisco Aironet 1300 Series Outdoor Access Point/Bridge Power Injector, converts the standard 10/100 BaseT Ethernet interface that is suitable for weather protected areas to a dual F-Type connector interface for coax cables that are more suitable for harsh outdoor environments. The Power Injector also provides power to the outdoor unit over the same cables with a power discover feature and surge protection. To support longer cable runs from your wireless network switch or router, the Power Injector LR is designed to accommodate up to a 100 meter coaxial cable run plus 100 meters of indoor cat5 cable?enabling total cable runs up to 200 meters. The Cisco Aironet 1300 Series Outdoor Access Point/Bridge ships with the Power Injector LR2 and an AC power supply.

    Ethernet Ports
The access point/bridge dual-coax Ethernet ports consists of a pair of 75-ohm F-type connectors, linking the unit to your 100BASE-T Ethernet LAN through the power injector. The dual-coax cables are used to send and receive Ethernet data and to supply inline 48-VDC power from the power injector to the access point/bridge.
    Power
The access point/bridge receives inline power from the Cisco Aironet Power Injector (hereafter called the power injector). Dual-coax cables are used to provide Ethernet data and power from the power injector to the access point/bridge. The power injector is an external unit designed for operation in a sheltered environment, such as inside a building or vehicle. The power injector also functions as an Ethernet repeater by connecting to a Category 5 LAN backbone and using the dual-coax cable interface to the access point/bridge.

  • AIRONET 1310 BRIDGE CONFIGURATION

Hi I desperately need help. I am trying to configure 2 Aironet 1310s as Root bridge and non-Root bridge. When I configure the root bridge the wireless interface remains up.When I try to configure the non-root bridge the AP/Bridge will assume the role of non-root bridge and immediately disable the wireless interface with line potocol down .I tried swapping the roles and still get the same proble. I am running IOS version 12.4(10b)JA

    Hi
I finally made a breakthrough. The issue here is the internal antannae. It seems it does not work well. I tried to use the antannae from the linksys wireless router and enabled them, I one time got the radios associate. I connected to the network and was able to ping the Pcs on each end of the network.
Now what I am interested in finding out is why those radios cannot work with the internal antannae. The model I have is AIR-BR-1310-E-K9-R.Is this designed to come with an internal antanna. I was able to pick one bar from my laptop from within 5 metres from the bridge. so what is the issue with these radios.
