    In order to get either the repeater or the workgroup bridge functionality working, you would likely need to have a Cisco AP as root. This is because the repeater and workgroup-bridge functionalities require Cisco Aironet Information Element (IE), which requires a Cisco root AP. There is no standard for interoperability for these functionalities (not part of any 802.11 standards). You can always try to connect them, making sure that they are using the same authentication/encryption configuration. However, it is unlikely to work.

  • 861w - don't see dot11radio interface

    I'm new to Cisco equipment and just purchased the Cisco 861W ISR. I got the router configured on a basic level and used the Express setup to configure my WAN/internet. All that works fine.
    However, I can't find the dot11radio interface listed on my device. When I run "show ip interface brief" I get the following:
    Dialer0 unassigned YES NVRAM up up
    FastEthernet0 unassigned YES unset up down
    FastEthernet1 unassigned YES unset up down
    FastEthernet2 unassigned YES unset up down
    FastEthernet3 unassigned YES unset up down
    FastEthernet4 unassigned YES NVRAM up down
    NVI0 unassigned YES unset administratively down down
    SSLVPN-VIF0 unassigned NO unset up up
    Vlan1 10.0.0.1 YES NVRAM up up
    Wlan-GigabitEthernet0 unassigned YES unset up up
    wlan-ap0 unassigned YES NVRAM up up
    So, when I attempt to go into config terminal mode and type in "interface dot11radio" so I can enable the radio with "no shutdown" I get an error message since dot11radio isn't present as an interface.
    I performed the factory reset on my new router several times while learning how to configure it. Have I somehow wiped out/disabled my wireless radio? Or is it possible I received a defective unit? This is the router I ordered http://www.pcconnection.com/IPA/Shop/Product/Detail?sku=8685745 Maybe I'm confused, but I thought this one came with the wireless radio built in, not as an option.
    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Problem could be due to the configuration while configuring,To Reset the Wireless Device to the Factory Default and again use the interface dot11radio global configuration CLI command to place the wireless device into the radio configuration mode. To reset the wireless device hardware and software to its factory default configuration, use the service-module wlan-ap0 reset default-config command in the router's Cisco IOS privileged EXEC mode.
    Here is the URL for the Factory default setting and administration guide for Cisco 860 series router, it may help you

  • Unable to set the speed on dot11Radio Interface

    Hello Experts,
    I have number of 1130ag access points in our network. The problem i am facing is that when I tried to set the speed on the dot11Radio 0 and 1 interface it doesn't appear
    This is the command I am using:
    interface dot11Radio 0
    speed basic-1.0 basic-2.0 basic-5.5 6.0 9.0 basic-11.0 12.0 18.0 24.0 36.0 48.0 54.0
    Please can someone help me.

    Hi,
    The configurations that you are entering.. that is..
    speed basic-1.0 basic-2.0 basic-5.5 6.0 9.0 basic-11.0 12.0 18.0 24.0 36.0 48.0 54.0
    is the Default config for 802.11G and by nature the default configurationas will not appear in the running config.. another example is.. By default Aironet Extentions are enabled on the AP runing config, and in the Show run you will see that.. but when you isue the command no dot11 extension aironet thne this command wil show up!! please make the change and then you will be able to see.. here is the link as well which can be used to set the values..

  • Stuck using the Comparable Interface

    I am having problems implementing the Comparable Interface in my class. I have written the compareTo method but this is not working. Can anyone see what I am doing wrong in the coding of this method. Thanks !!. (see below code for the class :
    package tma02q1;
    import java.util.*;
    This is the outline of the basic Video class.
    Such a class describes the videos stocked by a branch of a video hire company
    As well as completing the given methods you will need to make further additions
    to this class.For further details you should study the BranchTest class.
    public class Video implements Comparable {
    // declare two instance variables
    // a String to hold the video title
    // an int to hold the video rental cost - cost is held in pence
    private String aTitle;
    private int aCost;
    public Video(String aTitle, int aCost) {
    this.aTitle = aTitle;
    this.aCost = aCost;
    private void setTitle(String aTitle) {
    this.aTitle = aTitle;
    public String getTitle() {
    return aTitle;
    private void setRentalCost(int aCost) {
    this.aCost = aCost;
    public int getRentalCost() {
    return aCost;
    public String toString() {
    return "Video Title = " + aTitle + " which has a rental cost of = " + aCost;
    public boolean equals(Object vid) {
    Video arg = (Video) vid;
    return (this.aTitle.equals(arg.aTitle)
    &&this.aCost==arg.aCost);
    public int compareTo(Object vido) {
    Video arg = (Video) vido;
    int comp = aCost.compareTo(arg.aCost);
    return comp;

    You've got another serious problem with your code. Both the equals and compareTo methods will throw a ClassCastException if the parameter is not a reference to a video object. Using the instanceof operator will however solve the problem. E.g.
    public boolean equals(Object o) {
      if (o instanceof Video) {
        Video  arg = (Video) o;
        return (this.aTitle.equals(arg.aTitle)
                &&this.aCost == arg.aCost);
      else
        return false;
    }The same approach is applicable to the compareTo method.

  • Two ssids in one Dot11Radio interface

    Hello,
    Whilst configuring CISCO867-W router I have encoutered the following problem.
    On built-in access point I have one Dot11Radio interface. Is it possible to have two ssids associated with two different vlans on one interface? If yes, how to do it? If no, is there any solution to have two separated wlans on an access-point with one Dot11Radio?

    Of course you can have two wlans associated with two different vlans on the same radio interface.
    Here is a simple example on how to it?
    on the router the most important thing you have to make sure that the interface
    Wlan-GigabitEthernet0 is configured as trunk and allowing the vlans mapped on the ssids defined under the radio interface of the embedded AP. Also you have to make sure that dhcp pools have been defined for both vlans.
    Assuming that you have two ssids:
    ssid1 & ssid2  mapped to vlans 1 and 2 consecutively. vlan 1 has been defined as the native on the trunk defined on
    Wlan-GigabitEthernet0
    AP(config)#dot11 ssid ssid1
                    #authentication open
                    #vlan 1
                   #exit
    AP(config)#dot11 ssid ssid2
                   #authentication open
                   #vlan 2
                   #exit
    AP(config)#interface dot11radio 0
                  #ssid ssid1
                  #ssid ssid2
                  # no shut
                  # exit
    AP(config)#int dot11radio 0.1
                   #encapsulation dot1q 1 native
                   #bridge-group 1
                   #exit
    AP(config)#int dot11radio 0.2
                   #encapsulation dot1q 2
                   #bridge-group 2
                   #exit
    AP(config)#int gig 0.1
                   #encapsulation dot1q 1 native
                   #bridge-group 1
                   #exit
    AP(config)#int gig  0.2
                   #encapsulation dot1q 2
                   #bridge-group 2
                   #exit

  • Aironet 1310 interface dot11 0 stuck in reset

    Hi trying to connect two APs with one being root and the other non root. After configuring, the wireless interface on the non root remains stuck
    int reset mode. Below is the error message i get and have tried and cant find out what the problem is.
    %DOT11-4-CANT_ASSOC: Interface Dot11Radio0, cannot associate: No Response
    Will appreciate any help. thanks

    As per dmantill mention once we have a 1310 in root bridge and the other one in non root bridge the non root bridge will not enable the radio until it sees a good signal from the root bridge and its status will be reset down.
    Remember that we have 2 types of 1310 the ones with build in antennas and the ones with no build in antenna and require and external antenna connected to it.
    To know if your unit has a build in antenna or not the part number will not include a (-R) if it has a (–R) it means that the unit does not have a build in antenna.
    Also remember that when we work with bridges we need to set them in install mode (install root bridge and install non root bridge)this mode will only allow the units to associate to each other and not pass traffic and the led’s on the back of the unit will stop works as usual and help us for antenna alignment between the units.
    Here is the link that lets us know what each sequence we get on the leds once in install mode to know how god the antenna aliment or signal is.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/access_point/1300/installation/guide/130h_c3.html#wp1056656
    Also remember that when working with bridges by defaults the units are set to work at full power and this would create 2 scenarios.
    For example, if the units are able to cover up to 5km with full power if the distance between the units is more than 5 km then they will not be able connect and if the distance is shorter than 5 km let’s say 1 km and we leave the units at full power there is going to be too much interface and signal to noise on the connection due to the short distance between the units and at the end this could make the units not see a good signal between them.
    For instance lets say we are on a football field and each of us is on a touchdown side and for us to be able to hear each other we need to scream to each other, but if we then walk to the center of the field and we keeping screaming we are going to hear ourselves but we will not be able to understand what we are saying to each other and we will need to lower our voice.
    Here is the outdoor range calculation utility to check what is the exact distance we can cover with a unit and at an specific data rate.

  • Listening for mail Acknowledgement  a la the TransportListener interface

    Hi gurus
    I am using the TransportListener interface for listening to the acknowledgement sent by the mail server once it has recieved my Email. however now i am stuck with the 2 facts ..
    1) What if the mail is stuck in traffic for a long long time ( looks like no one is immune to the omnipotent traffic jams :) ). I need to have a way of timing out the mail or something, i am not exactly sure how the other mail systems do it ,like "not being able deliver" error messages ( what are they based on)
    2) when the acknowledgement has arrived and my listener class does all the relevent processing what happens to it. does it get GC or what?
    please help me on this
    Thanks
    Tarun

    I am not a MS kind of guy but I would suggest to check
    opportunities with the new .Net integration. I know there are
    already some tools in .Net world which you may consider to
    integrate with CF.
    This is just an idea.

  • ACLs on Dot11Radio interface blocks ALL traffic

    On an AP1220 w/IOS 12.2(11)JA1, all traffic is blocked when an ACL is applied on either the RF interface or the FastE interface, even explicitly permitted traffic. Also, using the "log" command after an ACL line fails to log anything. Below is the ACL I want to apply to the Dot11Radio 0 interface. It blocks ALL traffic:
    access-list 100 permit udp any any eq bootpc log
    access-list 100 permit tcp any host 10.0.0.1 eq 1723 log
    access-list 100 permit gre any host 10.0.0.1 log
    access-list 100 deny ip any any log
    Here is a test ACL that blocked ALL traffic, as well:
    access-list 101 permit udp any any log
    access-list 101 permit tcp any any log
    access-list 101 permit icmp any any log
    access-list 101 permit ip any any log
    Both ACLs blocked all traffic and failed to log a single event. If the ACL is removed, everything works. HELP!

    It's a known bug CSCec28612 - AP1200 access-list doesnt work on radio int with a log keyword

  • Status LIS9 of the User interface MP000200 missing

    Hi All,
    While creating leaving action. System is giving error (Status LIS9 of the User interface MP000200 missing.
    Mentions below are my configuration.
    Infogroup
    COP 0001 Org assignment
    LIS9 0002 Personal Data
    LIS9 0006 address
    LIS9 0105 Communication
    And Personnel Action type are:- 0 0 0 MSN20 (Tick) (Tick) (Not tick)
    Let me know how to resolve it.
    Regard
    Ashish

    Hi,
    make sure that LIS9 should not be used to the Infotypes which are having Time  Constraint 1
    Check V_T582A for time constratints and also check V_T588D to remove the operation LIS9 forLeaving/ termination action.
    for your information
    Infotype 0002 should NEVER be delimited as part of the Leaving Action.
    The help text for the Operations field of the Info Group states the following:
    In the Leaving action, use the "delimit" (LIS9) operation to delimit records.
    Please remove the infotype 0002 from the info group, then run the leaving action, you will not find an error message
    The reason why you get the error is because the status LIS9 does not exist on MP000200 .
    You can see this via the menu painter via SE41.

    Do you have a diagram of yourt setup and a more detailed description what you want to do?
    The public interface of your main ASA looks like you are connecting to the internet. In that case, the IP address for the client has to come from the ISP and not from your main ASA.

    Hi,
    IMG – Personnel Management – Personnel Admin – Tools – Revision – Set up change document:
    This node has three items:
    Infotypes to be logged
    Field Group Definitions
    Field Group Characteristics
    Using these three options you define which infotypes you wish to log, then which fields, then you define which groups of fields are to be saved. Click each link, or see the sections below:
    Infotypes to be logged
    Here you define which PA infotype numbers you require logging. Select New Entries and enter a transaction class (A for Pers Admin, B for recruitment), then enter the infotype number and save.
    Field Group Definition
    When changes are made to a logged infotype, the field contents before and after are recorded. This is the very reason for logging the infotype, but there is an overhead in performance and disk space used so it needs to be given consideration. Typically you will want to record fields that are pay relevant.
    Using the field group definition, you specify which fields you wish to record changes in. When any of the fields in the group are changed, all the fields in the group are saved. You can use an asterisk to log all the fields of the infotype but this is not recommended for space and performance, also there are many fields on an infotype that you will not be using, that will be saved also. Ideally you will pick individual fields of the infotype and enter them like so:
    The field group number is a freely defined number you allocate to the group, it will be used in the next step. For normal use, simply pick any number not already used in that infotype. All fields with the same field group number are recorded in the log, even if they have not changed.
    Click New Entries and enter the infotype number, field group number and field names that you wish to record.
    Field Group Characteristics
    When you have set up the field group numbers, use the field group characteristics to activate the logging of those fields. You can also specify a supplementary field group; this means that the contents of another field group can also be saved at the same time, even though the contents have not changed. In practise it is not used much. Simply select new entries, enter the transaction class, infotype, and in the DocFieldGr enter the number you assigned to the field names that you want to store, then enter L for Long Term Documents (short are not supported)
    The Audit Report
    To access the report showing the logged infotype changes, use the HR report tree available from various menu paths, including:
    Main Menu – Human Resources – Pers Management – Administration – Info System – Reports - Documents – Infotype change – logged changes in infotype data. (RPUAUD00).
    When you run the report, select the infotypes you require, and select and execute.
    Cheers
    Prasanth
