AirPlay from music app iPad 2 iOS 5.1 (I think)

I've been trying to get AirPlay to work from the music app, as it was working for all my other apps. Using the airplay button in app didnt work but I eventually realised I could try it from the multitask switching bar audio controls. For some reason it worked from there...
Streaming to apple tv 2.
Just putting this up in the hopes it will help others with the same problem and maybe get picked up as a bug that needs fixing. Might be something to do with my iPad though? Never jail broken it, so didn't understand why an apple app and functionality didn't work

Are both on the same network? Check firewall, security software

  • How to select Internet radio stations on iPad from Music app?

My iPad is connected to the Internet. In the Music app I how to select Internet radio stations?
(iPad and iTunes are up-to-date versions.)

Having searched older posts it appers I am not the only one looking for Internet radio on iOS devices; the answer is this Mac OS X iTunes feature is not in the iOS 7 Radio app or elsewhere on iOS7.  People suggested downloading TuneIn Radio (free with over 50,000 stations).

  • Can't delete iTunes Match music from Music app in iOS 6 Music app?!

Totally insane - the ability to delete music downloaded from iTunes match has been removed from the iOS 6 Music app! No more "swipe left and delete". I can't find any way to delete music, in fact. Can someone please tell me this is a massive mistake that will quickly be fixed. How did this make it through to the final release?!

The topic has been discussed in-depth on this forum.
Apple change the way iTM works in iOS 6 to no longer allow downloading or deleting of individual tracks with iTunes Match enabled. To delete individual tracks iTM must first be disabled; to delete all downloaded music from the iOS device go to settings > general > usage, tap Music then swipe All Music and tap delete.

  • Can't remove u2 songs of innocence from music app

I have an ipad with ios 8.1.2. I was able to remove the U2 album from my itunes purchases using the Apple app but cannot remove it from my music library. I have gone to Settings and deactivated Show All but this leaves four of the songs and the album cover art. I have attempted to manually remove by swiping left but this doesn't work as I get a message saying I can't do that because the song wasn't downloaded. I manually created a playlist but that doesn't get rid of the U2 stuff from the songs, album, and artist tabs. How do I get this music and album cover art out of here?!! Not only do I find the album art offensive myself, but if my elderly parents see it, they will be totally shocked. I find it disappointing at least and extremely upsetting that Apple would force their music upon customers. Please find some permanent fix to this problem. And what can I do now to fix it (i.e., remove songs and album cover art)?

  • Music App (iPad & iPod Touch)

Has anyone else who uses the Music App's Sort Artist to alphabetize artists by last name noticed this is no longer working? At least on my devices (iPod Touch & iPad 2) this function seems broken. Maybe it's just a setting I've neglected?

See this previous , long-going discussion:
Re: Problems with IOS 5 Music App

  • Can't remove track numbers from Music app even though they're deleted in iTunes

So I've been having an incredibly annoying issue for a while now, and I can't seem to figure it out or why it happens. I have a large amount of singles and misc. songs in iTunes and I decided to file them under one single Artist and Album, both called iTunes. I then have the track name, artist name, and album name all listed in the track name slot. I have removed all sort by info, album artist info, track numbers, disc numbers, and unchecked the Compilation option on every single of these tracks. In iTunes, the songs are listed under the proper artist and album, and the songs are all alphabetical from A to Z.
Here's where the the problem comes in. When I select the entire list of songs and send them to my iPhone 5 running iOS 7.0.4, they sync fine. However, upon browsing the songs, the first half (about 100 songs) are listed as being track 1. The next 20 or so tracks are listed as track 2. The next 20 or so tracks are listed as track 3. This continues until the bottom of the list, where the last 8 songs are listed as 13, 13, 15, 16, 16, 18, 19, 22. Within each set of shared track numbers (for example, track 1, so 100 songs), the tracks are listed alphabetically. Then when I hit the set of songs listed as track 2, the alphabetizing resets again, and so on and so forth. I can't figure out why this is, other than that some sort of data is still contained within the song files that the Music app picks up and interprets. I shouldn't have to manually assign each of the 212 tracks its own listing, such as 1/212, 2/212, etc. because that would take forever and I'd need to re-edit half the tracks when I added new music to the iTunes album. Is there anything I can do to fix this issue?; because I'm totally bamboozled as to where these faux track numbers are coming from.

Ok, I "sorta" figured it out. I was having trouble even sorting the songs into separate albums like iTunes A B C, iTunes D E F, etc. because Music still placed random track numbers onto the songs. So, I went back to my original plan which was to have one album and artist called iTunes, and I forced all tracks to be track 1 of 1, and disc 1 of 1. That seems to have fixed the issue and forced Music to put them in alphabetical order. I'm still unsure as to why Music won't just alphabetize the tracks as they are in iTunes.

  • Airplay from PGATOUR app, audio garbled

I was trying to airplay the PGATOUR video from the app for iPad (I have a new IPad, 16GB, WiFi + 4G), and the video played nicely but the audio was garbled.  Sounded like it was coming acorss on a tin can on a string.  The video and audio both played just fine on the iPad.  There are no issues with the TV or the AppleTV I was playing it to (played a movie and the sound was perfect).
Any thoughts on what caused this?

Usually these types of limitations are added by the app developer, especially with media apps like these. However I would first try Resetting the devices. I found the best way to reset the iPad is to close all apps in the recently used app list. Double tap the Home button to reveal the list at the bottom then tap and hold one icon till they wiggle and display a minus button. Tap the to close all apps them press the Home button to get back to the home screen. Hold the Sleep button till "Slide to power off" appears. Once it has shut down completely press the Sleep button till you see the Apple icon.
The procedure is similar to resarting your computer when it starts acting flaky. iPads are just a hand head computer and rarely gets shut down or reset so it would be similar to running your computer for months at a time without shutting it down.

  • Music app crashes with IOS 8.3 after playing two songs

I just submitted this bug report to Apple:
I have a auto update smart playlist based on zero rated tracks with an album rating of 3 stars or higher.  I play this playlist on random and rate the tracks as I listen to them.  Since updating to iOS 8.3 the music app will play two tracks (which I have rated during the play) and upon the completion of the second track will crash or close out and return me to the iOS home screen.  This is repeatable.  I have music matched switched off and the playlist is freshly updated from WiFi update from my Mac.
Has anyone else experience something similar where the music app will close repeatedly after only playing a couple of songs?

    Hi
I'm also having all the same problems mentioned earlier, ever since my update to 8.3.
Having tried deleting "5 star" playlist, recreating and then re-syncing, does nothing!!
As per ToolMan7x6, I can play from "songs" , "albums" or " artists" via shuffle or regular play with no problems, on my iPhone 5S, but as I can't listen to the circa 3500 songs I have on my phone all day in shuffle mode, this is driving me nuts!!
Any suggestions would much be appreciated

  • After updating my ATV to 6.1.1 no airplay from iPhone or iPad

This happens every time I update my ATV 2 to new software.
No airplay from iPad 1 or iPhone 4 ( running ios 7.1.1 )  - this time after ATV update to version 6.1.1
Tried everything :  resetting ATV, disconnecting cables, resetting router, turning network setting on ATV off/on  - no change
I can mirror my Mac Book Pro ( but no audio ) and play content from iTunes ( videos, photos ). iCloud photos work.
But I can no longer airplay content from Safari ( had no problem before this update ).
Followed all Apple's recommended troubleshooting but no luck.
    Can anybody help?

Sounds exactly like a network issue.
Is the router firmware up to date?
Are all firewalls and security software disabled as part of troubleshooting?
Try connecting the ATV via ethernet to rule out a Wi-Fi issue.

  • TS3297 Cannot access iTunes from Music App 4S

I cannot access the "store" from my music app on my 4S. From any of the screens a can push the button that says "store", the button does change shade to indicate it is being pushed, but nothing happens. No error message, nothing. I've updated the iOS, I've restarted the app. I've restarted the phone. 3G on, Wifi on, My apple ID works. I can use home sharing and write on this forum. I just cant access the store. I just moved to India, but I have bought music from iTunes on my iMac and MacBook pro. No problem. Thanks for your answers.

Is iTunes endlessly saying "Accessing iTunes Store"? Or is something a bit different going on?

  • Music App Issues with iOS 5

Ever since I've updated to iOS 5, I am having issues with the Music app. First issue is that when playing songs in a playlist, the music will just stop playing although the "play" icon is still active. The second issue is that the app will just crash when playing music in a playlist. Anybody else have this problem?

Sounds like something got corrupted with the update process, try:
    1- Power off/on.
    2- Reset
    3- Restore from backup
4- Restore, then load last backup
5- Restore, then set up as new iPhone
Hopefully one of the first 3 will work since they're fast.  The 5th one is the last resort since you'll have to re-do everything on your phone.

  • ITunes audiobook downloaded but missing from Music app

I purchased and downloaded an audiobook from iTunes but it does not show up in the Audiobooks section of the Music app.
It shows up on the device when I enter the title in the iOS7 Search bar (so it definitely downloaded).
It will play when I tap on the Search hit (so it downloaded successfully).
When I tap the "back" button while it's playing I get to the "Audobooks" page in the Music app: but the book isn't shown in the list of available titles!
So it's on my device but can only be accessed via Search.
    I've force-quit the Music app.
    I've hard-rebooted by iPhone 5.
I haven't synched to my Mac in 2 years (not even sure my Mac iTunes is up to date)

The exact same thing happened to me - I downloaded an Audiobook and it entered a black hole. This is ridiculous! I even tried pluggin it into my iMac and transferring purchases to my computer and then syncing it again that way and it did not fix the problem. It seems though that other audiobooks that I did purchase on my Mac and then transferred to my iPhone worked fine, but I'd rather not have to plug it in to my Mac.

  • Music app problems in iOS 7

how to extend the space for 'files names' column in 'songs' tab of Music app?
i am so disappointed in iOS7's music app. there are tabs for Artists & Albums in music app, there is no need to allocate artist and album columns in 'Songs' or 'Playlists' Tabs. I CAN NOT READ MY FILES NAMES COMPLETELY BECAUSE THE FILE NAME'S COLUMN IS SO SMALL.
PLEASE TELL ME IS THERE ANY WAY TO REMOVE ARTIST AND ALBUM COLUMNS??

I whole heartedly agree with the other comments here, the search function has been hidden, frustrating, when it used to sit in the bottom right corner where it was easy to access. Every view is list, with a library of 8000 songs, that is a lot of scrolling, it also denies me the joy of quickly scanning a grid view, much as you would do in a record store (I am old enough to remember those) and find that gem in my collection that I haven't heard in a while. The genius button again has been hidden behind a create option, ok it is there, but why hide it.
The overly asthetics are fine, not knock my socks fantastic, just fine.
Please apple if you read these comments, please add back some of the features you have taken away with this update.

  • No AirPlay mirroring button on iPad 2, iOS 5 - One solution found!

SOLUTION: REBOOT BOTH YOUR MODEM AND WIRELESS ROUTER
I spent hours trying to get this feature to work. I had completed the following and still had no airplay button:
    1. Downloaded the latest operating system (10.7.2) for my 27" iMac
    2. Upgraded iTunes to 10.5
    3. Upgraded iPad 2 to iOS 5
    4. Upgraded Apple TV (Black) to the latest software
The wireless worked with Netflix, but I had no AirPlay button until I decided to reboot the modem and router. I hope that this works for you.
    NOTE:
    1. If by chance you have your computer connected to your router via Ethernet and your iPad connected to your router via Wi-Fi, turn your Wi-Fi off on your computer.
    2. If, after you manage to activate AirPlay AND you lose connection between your iPad and your TV, simply reboot your iPad.

    SOLUTION number 2:
I have had problems with missing AirPlay icon on both iPad and iPhone. I have had loooong conversations with the People at Apple - Nice people but no solution. If you have upgraded to newest software on iPad, Apple tv and iPhone, and have connected to the same router, and still have problems, the problem is 100 % the router. I have tried with 3 different routers. All working perfectly except AirPlay. It was a Zyxel, d-link and Sagem. The Zyxel router I could'nt get to work. Both d-link and Sagem worked without any problems. Today I use the Sagem. So if your AirPlay icon is instable or do not appear, and all is upgraded to latest level, then try with another router.

  • IPhone apps, iPad, and iOS 6

I am having trouble finding and loading what seem to be iPhone apps to my ipad in IOS 6. Is there any way to do this?

When you go into the App Store, do you see tabs on top, one for iPad, and another for iPhone?
If so, click the iPhone tab and you'll be in business.
