Music app crashes with IOS 8.3 after playing two songs

I just submitted this bug report to Apple:
I have a auto update smart playlist based on zero rated tracks with an album rating of 3 stars or higher.  I play this playlist on random and rate the tracks as I listen to them.  Since updating to iOS 8.3 the music app will play two tracks (which I have rated during the play) and upon the completion of the second track will crash or close out and return me to the iOS home screen.  This is repeatable.  I have music matched switched off and the playlist is freshly updated from WiFi update from my Mac.
Has anyone else experience something similar where the music app will close repeatedly after only playing a couple of songs?

Hi
I'm also having all the same problems mentioned earlier, ever since my update to 8.3.
Having tried deleting "5 star" playlist, recreating and then re-syncing, does nothing!!
As per ToolMan7x6, I can play from "songs" , "albums" or " artists" via shuffle or regular play with no problems, on my iPhone 5S, but as I can't listen to the circa 3500 songs I have on my phone all day in shuffle mode, this is driving me nuts!!
Any suggestions would much be appreciated
iPhone 5c (iOS 8.3 - wish I hadn't done it!!!)

  • Fix for Music app crash with iTunes Match "on"

Sometimes if you try to use iTunes match for the first time on 3G(or any other cellular connection) it crashes Music app permanently. It can occur if you try to run Music app on the go with bad 3G connectivity so some data is corrupted or configured incorrectly. I had this twice, but found this "easy" fix without a need of PC/Mac computer & iTunes.
How to fix music app crash with itunes match "on".
Step by step on the iPad:
    - delete all music on your device:
Go to settings->usage->view list of all apps->swipe music icon ->choose delete
    - set itunes match off
    - run music app
    - give it a while till it shows "no music" info and only shop button. It needs to reload all settings and clear all data. Wait till no loading circle.
    - go to settings app again
    - music settings - itunes match on but "show all your music" off !
    -  open music app
    - wait till all your music lists covers download. It will take a while. Scroll down to load them all if you want. Wait till no loading circle.
    - go to settings app again
    - music settings - show all your music on
    - go to music app
    - wait till it download list of all your music
    Done
Maybe you can fix this with lesser number of steps but this way I'm sure it works.

  • Music App Issues with iOS 5

Ever since I've updated to iOS 5, I am having issues with the Music app. First issue is that when playing songs in a playlist, the music will just stop playing although the "play" icon is still active. The second issue is that the app will just crash when playing music in a playlist. Anybody else have this problem?

Sounds like something got corrupted with the update process, try:
    1- Power off/on.
    2- Reset
    3- Restore from backup
4- Restore, then load last backup
5- Restore, then set up as new iPhone
Hopefully one of the first 3 will work since they're fast.  The 5th one is the last resort since you'll have to re-do everything on your phone.

  • How can I keep my music from "crashing" with iOS 7?

So I, like many of us, have downloaded the new iOS 7 software on my iPhone. I've gotten used to it already. However, ever since I downloaded the new software my music has been cutting off. For example, let's say I choose a song to listen to and then I lock the screen. And let's say in the middle of the song I decide to check my email. As soon as I unlock the screen, the song jumps to another part of the it or to the beginning. It does that EVERY TIME I unlock my screen. The song keeps jumping to other parts of the song. And it also happens with any song I play.
Does anyone know why this happens? Or has anyone else this problem or other related problems? Will updating to iOS 7.0.2 fix this? Thanks in advance for your help everyone.

Why are your songs not in your itunes library?  They should be.
You can transfer itunes purchase to your computer:  File>Transfer Purchases

  • Major Mail Crash with iOS 6 and iPad 2... now a blank Mail screen

I just had a major Mail app crash with iOS 6 on my iPad 2.
I was composing an email with pictures in it and when I got to the point of pasting the forth picture into the email, the Apple Mail app started to get very sluggish and crashed.  Now, every time I open the Mail app, the screen is white (i.e. - without any text on it) and then Mail crashes after about 10-15 seconds.  (BTW - It seemed like the sluggishness got worse as I pasted the last two pictures in.... and the pictures were large sized (at about 750kB each).... so they weren't overly big in size.)
Closing the app, shutting down my iPad 2 and hard resetting my iPad (by holding down both the Home and Power buttons) have no effect on the problem.
This is a very bad situation since I'm traveling for business and was using the iPad for keeping up with email.  Now, I get nothing put a blank screen whenever I try to open the mail app.
Does anyone know of a way to get the Mail app back?
    Thanks.

Facing the same problem on iPad (3rd generation, wifi)
I'm using Gmail and every time I open it, it crash a lot (white screen or scroll down very, very slowly),also can't open or send anymore :(
Facebook is nice but it also crash (even I delete and reinstall several time, it still crash like slow respond or even no respond at all)
The most upset is touch seem crash sometime :( (need to touch two or three times)
Help!!! I don't wanna make myself look down on iOS after this upgrade! I do love the former 5.1.1 (smooth touch and easy mail)

  • IOS 8.3 Music app Crashes after skipping songs

I am having issues after updating to iOS 8.3 on a 128gb iPhone 6.  The Music app launches and will work, but will crash if I skip about 2 songs.  It seems I can get it to relaunch if I force quit the app then reboot the phone.  However it works for a few songs then crashes all over again.
Anyone else having issues with the Music app?

The music app crashes when using playlists all the time.
I have the same problem with my iPhone 6 64 Gb and the IOS 8.3.
It just happens when using the "Intelligent playlists".
    First case:
    Enter a playlist.
    Click on a song.
    The song is playing.
Click once >> and the next song starts playing.
Click again on >> and the app crashes.
    Second case:
    Enter a playlist.
    The choosen song is playing.
Click on the top left < to back and the app crashes again.
    Third case:
If you let the playlist playing without forwarding or backwarding or click on < (top left) the playlist seems to run ok.
Solutions I tried with no success:
I made a full restore of the iPhone 6 and no solution.
I deleted all the playlists and I created them again and no solution.
It seems to me that it happens more often when using .m4a files but I'm not sure about it.

  • Music app crashes constantly after iOS5 update and won't restart.

I have an iPhone 4 that I updated to iOS5 last week. The first time I tried the new Music App, it ran very sluggishly. I then connected it to my JVC car stereo via the dock connector (Made for iPod), and the Music App crashed. After crashing, it just shows a blank white screen when you try to start the app, then crashes again after about ten seconds.
I can delete all the music from the iPhone via iTunes, and then re-add it, which seems to work for getting the Music App working again. But as soon as I try to connect it to the dock connector on my car stereo, it crashes again as previously described. Grrr.

No answers, only wanted to commiserate—I had a similar problem, and now my iPhone 5 running iOS 5 is showing the blank white screen for the Music app every time. No music showing anywhere, even when NOT connected to the dock in my car. I was wondering if the bug was related to the number of songs/size of files (since I have a crapload of music). This has to be happening to others...
    My Music App screen:

  • Since last sync on iPod Touch 1g, music crashes after playing 1st song.

Since the last sync on my iPod Touch 1g, both the 3rd party apps and the music app would crash after opening (music after playing 1st song).  I found a fix online for the apps, but how do I get my music to play again?

I have had a similar hiccups with my 3G ipod touch 64gb after updating it with the new iOS 5.  While syncing in iTunes on my MacBook, the storage bar on the bottom will show that most of the space is taken up with my songs that I want synced from iTunes but when I go to use the iPod touch after ejecting it from the MacBook the songs are listed in a ghost like consistency but the actual files are not there and I can't get any response when I touch the song title or album that I want played.  In fact, when looking at the "About" inquiry screen within the Settings on the ipod touch, it shows that most all of my space is unused.  Where are the phantom files, and why doesn't a synch work as smoothly as before?  Conversely,  my 4G ipod touch works flawlessly, so far, with the new iOS 5. I am afraid that the new iOS 5 isn't ready for prime time when it comes to the 3G ipod touches.  Have any others had a similar problem when it comes to synching music, which used to sync flawlessly without problems, to their 3G ipod touches with the new iOS 5 upgrade?

  • IOS5 Music App crashing when going to podcasts

My music app keeps crashing whenever I select the "podcast" tab in the music app.
Here have been the steps I've taken so far:
    1.  Connect to iTunes, remove podcasts from phone
    2.  Upon doing this, the music app crashes instantly upon opening
    3.  If I select "reset all settings" on the phone, the music app will start back up - but continue to crash when navigating to podcast tab
    Notes
+  If I select my computer library (home sharing) within the music app, the podcasts show up and play fine (pulling from my computer)
+  The "Muisc +" app accesses all my music and plays fine (but I can't get to podcasts from within that app)
+  I can use voice commands to play a music - and skip forward/back from the lock screen
    Hardware:
    iPhone 4, ATT, 32GB
    iOS 5.0.1
    Any help/suggestions?

I'm still having this issue - wanted to add some additional details:
+if i search on my iPhone (swipe all the way to the left home screen), several podcasts show up; even after syncing and telling iTunes to sync 1 most recent podcast or none at all
+I can play these podcasts from the "search" menu, but when I hit back, it brings me to the default music app tab, and if i tab to the podcast tab (even with the podcast playing), the app will crash
+in iTunes, when I set my podcasts to only keep the most recent one, then sync my phone - it will pull these random podcasts back into iTunes
+The date on these podcasts is 12/31/00 (even though they are from 2011)
It seems like the "12/31/00" labeled podcasts are impossible to delete and causing my music app to crash.

  • Music App crashes often

I have an iPod touch 3G and about 1800+ Songs on it. My iPod app often crashed after syncing, so I turned off audiobooks and podcasts . Now I have a big problem: I haven't synced since about 1 month and iTunes just let me restore my iPod. So all of the songs I purchased are only on my iPod and I´m not able to sync anymore with iTunes. I think this happened after the recent crash of my music app, because i now only have accses to the songs I bought since the last sync. The other songs are still on my iPod, but I cannot listen to them. Usually I dont need to sync, but now I want to have my songs back in my iPod library (and I bought the new Paul Kalkbrenner album and I want it on my iPod). How can I bring my songs to my pc? (iPod is jailbroken)

Because jailbreaking violate Apple's terms and conditions (and warranty).

  • Music app crashing

Since updating my iPad Mini to iOS 7, the music app has exhibited the annoying issue of crashing every time I try to play two specific songs. They play for a second become cutting off and dumping me at the home screen.
The songs triggering the issues are Accept's Metal Heart and Midnight Mover, both purchased on iTunes, and with lyrics and sorting data added. I am at a loss as to the cause, but I suspect it is a bug. anyone else having this problem?

Try and close all apps in Multitask Screen.
    1. Double tap the home button to bring up the multi-tasking view
    2. Swipe up on the screenshot of the app you want to exit.
    3. The app will fly off the screen

IPad Music app crashes while trying to choose my shared Mac music library.  Only a few of the artists show up and if I try a search, the App crashes.

  • Need apps compatible with ios 4.2.1

need apps compatible with ios 4.2.1

To more easily find compatible apps:
iOSSearch - search the iTunes store for compatible apps.
Apple Club - filter apps by iOS version.
Starting when iOS 7 was released, Apple now allows downloading the last compatible version of some apps (iOS 4.2.1 and later only)
App Store: Downloading Older Versions of Apps on iOS - Apple Club
App Store: Install the latest compatible version of an app
You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists.

  • This isn't achely a question it's about iPod  not iPhone but can Apple. Make all apps work with iOS 7 even when it's really old

This isn't achely a question it's about iPod  not iPhone but can Apple. Make all apps work with iOS 7 even when it's really old

And it's totally impractical for any OS to provide complete backwards compatibility in perpetuity. So no, Apple cannot grant your request. As WJ said, it's the developers' reponsibility to provide updates to their applications to be compatible with newer operating system releases, whatever the platform might be.
