Aligning textfields, label, and scrollbars in a gridlayout

Hi,
I am making an application whose content pane has a null layout. I added a JPanel on the content pane and changed it's layout to gridlayout with 2 columns and 5 rows. I added 1 label, 4 scrollbars and 4 textfields to this. Now I want the Label to be at the top row occupying both the columns and the scrollbars to be aligned on the left side of the gridlayout and textfields on the right side. I used an array to declare my scroll bars and textfields. When I run my application the label, scrollbars and textfields are arranged very haphazardly. Can somebody help me on how to arrange these like i want to?
Thanx
Sugar

Hi!
Have you considered to use a GridBagLayout ??? Check it out...

    WHAT DO I DO

    You could try a custom paper size and gradually adjust the page length until it prints in the correct location.

  • Labels and textfields - easy way to

    I am doing a little form which is a bunch of textfields, I want to label them.
    is there an easy way to do this rather than defining a label then fussing around with gridbags to get the layout right.
    also I do not need to keep the labels and stuff, is there a way to create a tmp panel and a tmp label and then reuse these objects for each textfield? or do I have to just create them all, that seems a little messy.
    Thanks

    I don't know what 1.1 compatibility has to do with it, if it's a swing problem, switch to awt (take away the J)
    String[] labelText = {"Textfield 1: ", "Textfield 2: ", "Textfield 3: "};
    JTextField fields[];
    // constructor
    fields = new JTextField[labelText.length];
    for(int j=0;j<labelText.length;j++)
        JPanel temp = new JPanel();
        temp.setAlignmentX(Component.RIGHT_ALIGNMENT);
        temp.add(new JLabel(labelText[j]));
        fields[j] = new JTextField(10);
        temp.add(fields[j]);
    }Now it doesn't matter what length your labels are, your temp label is right-aligned, and all the textfields will be the same size (10).
    Note: You may have to reverse the order you add label/textfield, not sure since it's right aligned.

  • Aligning labels and lovs in a proper order?

    Hi,
    i have 3 panelgroupLayouts plg1, plg2 and plg3 with Halign:center and layout:horizontal.
    Under each panelgroupLayout one output label and one af:selectOneChoice are there.
    Under plg1; label: empno
    Under plg2; label: employeeName
    Under plg1; label: empadd
    bcoz of this my lovs and labels are not vertivally aligned in the same line.
    How to arrange these all labels and all socs in one vertical order to make the look n feel neat?
    Any suggestions will be really useful?
    Thanks.

    Then put the panelFormLayout inside panelGroupLayout and set its halign to "center".

    Add FTETextTests which check that a Label and NumericStepper configured to use FTEText have a textField and textInput, respectively, of type UIFTETextField and MXFTETextInput.  The components are configured via style properties rather than by theme which would require another version/compile of the BasicTests.swf.

    I'm also having this problem. I'm using Flash Builder 4.6, AIR 3.4 and I've made a DLL (e.g. ExtensionDll.dll) which needs to call functions in another DLL (e.g. DllUsedByExtensionDll.dll) . I've made sure my ANE is working with the ExtensionDll.dll already, so there are no issues with my actionscript code or my ANE packaging or my DLL compilation. However, once I start calling functions from the other DLL, it starts throwing me Error #3500. Even if I call this function (e.g. abc()) in ExtensionDll.dll, but I never actually use the function from actionscript, and I call another function (e.g. def()) from actionscript, the Error #3500 still appears, so it does not seem to depened on the whether the code is used or not.
    It's similar to this problem.

    <- STUDENTS -> CLEAR <- COURSES ->
    student id FIND course id FIND
    last name_________first name______course name_____
    address________________________________________
    city______province___________p.code______________
    phone__________e-mail_______coordinator___________
    #of courses completed_____ #of students passed______
    student's average grade___ students grade ave grade___
    messages______________________________________
    the ones in caps are buttons and the rest are labels with text fields beside most of the labels.

    Hi,
    I want to design 1 Label and 1 Inputfield in 1 row in a Web Dynpro View.
    The RootUIElementContainer is assigned MatrixLayout and the Labels and InputField are assinged in it.
    But all are appearing in a single row as:
    Label1:     Inputfield1                  Label2:             Inputfield2
    Regards
    Neha Singh

    Hi Neha,
    If your requirement is to have specified number of columns in a row then its better to go with GridLayOut.
    For example Your requirement is to have 4 columns per row, then you can set the no of columns as 4 but now in 3rd row you want 2 columns only i.e one lable and one input field, in this case right click on input field-> properties then change the colspan to 3. This way you can achive two UI elements in four columns only.
    Similarly you can have any number of UI elements in one row based on no of columns.
    if you require more information i can help you.
    Regards

  • How do display array of labels and buttons in JSplitPane

    Helloo
    Iam doing doing project on swing. I want to display an array of JLabels in JSplitPane. That to the leftside of the JSplitPane. On Right side Array of Jutton Please can any body solve my problem.
    regards
    sonali

    Hi Sonali,
    If u wish to add JLabel and JButton in the following manner
    label
    label
    label
    label
    why not try using GridLayout for each of the panel in the splitpane.try setting gridLayout(0,10) assuming that u have 10 labels.Then add those to the panel which is added to the SplitPane.
    Hope this gives u an idea.
    Cheers :)

    I haven't tried your code, but since you use a layout manager, you shouldnt need to think about setting the size for the applet.
    And I think when you call the method makePanel the last 4 times, you want to use the returned panel to add your components on. Right now you add everything directly to the panel and never use the panels you create.
    And you also reuse some of your components more than once (like e.g. courBackB). You need to create a new button everytime, otherwise if you try to add the same button twice, the second one will not be displayed.
    Try to add the components one by one and check it is displayed before you add the next one.
    If you want to check what components and their sizes etc, you have on your applet, here is a little trick. Get the focus on your applet and press ctrl+shift+F1. If you run the applet in a browser, you will get something in the java console that displays all your GUI components and a description of them. So
    It might help you.
    Also take a look of the Java Tutorial for the AWT. You can download it from
         http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/information/download.html
    called tut-OLDui.zip.

    }

    In general when adding or removing components for a visible GUI you need to use:
    panel.add(...);
    panel.revalidate();
    panel.repaint();

  • How to right align s:Label inside a s:controlBarContent ?

    My spark app has a control bar at the top and i want to right-align a label inside it so my button bar is on the left and my label is on the right. I tried using the 'horizontalAlign="right"' which works find inside a s:panel but not inside a s:controlBarContent. Does anyone have any idea how to achieve this please? Also, the flash builder 4 ide won't let you move the label over in design mode either...
    Thanks for your help,
    Regards,
    Mark.

    I figured it out myself. I added an s:Hgroup around my label and set width="100%" and horizontalAlign="right" you need to set the width to 100% otherwise you're just right aligning within the actual width of the component (which is pretty useless eh?).
    I hope this helps someone else too.
    Regards,
    Mark.

    Thank you Frank. I think my question was not clear. All I need is that I wanted to align the labels of af:inputText to the left and the input text boxes of af:inputText to middle as they are aligned when we put them on af:panelForm.
    Please look at the following format that is how I wanted to display all my inputText.
    Label1 (Short label)---------------------inputText must be here
    Label2 Label2 Label2 (Long label) inputText must be here
    Please note ‘----‘ represents empty spaces between the label and the box
