Alignment of check boxes in LIveCycle

Hi,
This is my first try using LiveCycle. I have a form that is almost filled with check boxes. I cannot figure out how to algin the boxes-horizontally, vertically, left, right and to each other. I have used the align tab but it only aligns one direction.
Thanks for your help in advance,
Patty

Hi,
you can order the checkboxes with the following:
Click on Layout - Align - choose your preferences.
But you can also use the layout where you can play with the x and Y or the length and hight of the fields. Also you can say if you want to have the checkbox left or right and the space it needs (in caption)
I hope this can help you

  • Make a check box in LiveCycle with a personal character or image as check mark ( info to share...)

    Hello everybody,
    It makes now several weeks i go trough the different forums to find a way to make the check mark of a check box in LiveCycle with a personal color instead of the default black mark, that seems to be the only option available.
    I saw somebody else with that question, but no answer.
    So i found a work around, that make the check box really flexible.
    Here it is:
    REMEMBER that this will work only with forms saved as dynamic PDF.
    Open a new form in Livecycle.
    1) Open Library panel ( Shift+F12) and select Check Box and put it in the page with the dimension and position you like and select it.
    Open the Object panel ( Shift+F7), select field section and under Caption make it blank. Select Binding Section and under name write in ' CheckBox '. for the rest leave all the section values as they are.
    2) In Library select, in the standard section, the icon for making a text object. Put it in the page and size it to your needs and put it on the top of the CheckBox. Select it.
    In the Object Panel, Draw section and under Presence 'Visible'.
    Open the Font panel ( Shift+F4) and under font section, Font : select the Wingdings font and choose the symbol to use as the mark, under Size : the size you need, under Style: font color you like. If the result of the mark is to your feel, set the object to 'invisible'. Leave all other values as they are.
    Open the Hierarchy panel (Shift+F11), right click on the static object and rename it to ' CheckMarkModel ' .
    For information : changing the text object to an image object let's you use an image for the mark in the checkbox.
    3) In Library, select in the standard section the icon for making a Button. Put it in the page and size it to the CheckBox dimension and put it on the top of the text object. Select it. In the Object panel, under Caption : make it blank, under Appearance : select custom in the drop down list an in the dialog box that comes up set the edges to none and the
    background to none. Leave the rest as it is.
    Open the Hierarchy panel (Shift+F11), right click on the Button object and rename it to ' ClickCheckBoxButton ' .
    Now open the Script Editor (Shift+Ctrl+F5), on the left under Show : select in the list the ' Click ' event, under Language : select JavaScript, copy to the window the following script :
    if (CheckMarkOnOff.rawValue == "0")
    CheckMarkOnOff.rawValue = "1";
    CheckMarkModel.presence = "visible";
    else if (CheckMarkOnOff.rawValue == "1")
    CheckMarkModel.presence = "invisible";
    CheckMarkOnOff.rawValue = "0";
    4)Now put in the page an other Check Box, put it on the top of the Button object and select it. In the Object panel, Field section, under Caption : make it blank, under Appearance : none, under Presence : invisible, let the rest as it is. In the Value section, under Type : Read Only, under Default : Off. In the Binding section, under Name : name it CheckMarkOnOff, leave the rest as it is.
    5) So you have now four objects in the page 1. In the Hierarchy panel set each object by dragging them in
    this order :
    CheckBox
    CheckMarkModel
    ClickCheckBoxButton
    CheckMarkOnOff
    In the form select all the objects and group them. If you copy the group as many times you need you automatically will have an other Check Box, ready to work.
    So here you are with an personal Check Box.
    Don't forget to set the preview PDF to dynamic under Menu /File/Form Properties, the in the dialog box that shows up /Default tab and under the XDP Preview format : select in the list an Acrobat Dynamic form.
    REMEMBER that this will work only with forms saved as dynamic PDF.
    If somebody from Adobe could upload the sample file i made, to the forum, so that anybody can download it to his computer, would be appreciated, email me at : [email protected] .
    Regards Mike.

    I also faced this same problem and there is an actual solution but it involves modifying the xml source for the checkbox - however it is a simple modification so if your not familiar with editing the xml source don't worry about that. <br /><br />Click on the checkbox you want to modify and then click on the XML Source tab. LiveCycle will take you to that point in the XML. <br /><br />Now, scroll down until the close of the ui node( </ui> )within the checkbox field and modify the font node to look like the following:<br /><br /></ui>  -- close of UI node<br /><font typeface="Arial"><br />   <fill><br />      <color value="0,0,255"/><br />   </fill><br /></font><br /><br />This produces a checkbox with a blue check mark. <br />You can, of course, make the color any RGB number you want.<br /><br />You can then save that field in your library and reuse it anytime you want and it will always have that color checkmark. <br /><br />Good luck. <br />-Andrew

  • Validating Yes/No Check boxes in Livecycle designer ES2

    Hi everyone,
    I need to validate 5 questions that have yes and no check boxes for "insured" "Spouse" and "Dependents" in one section of my form in LCD ES2 .  I am looking for a javascript code that can check if for each ("insured" "Spouse" and "Dependents")  5 questions has at least a yes or no checked under each and if not an error message is produced.  Thanks for any help you can provided.
    Thanks
    Jagan

    Does anyone have any tips on how to resolve this?  My LiveCycle form is a dynamic form.  It seems like livecycle Designer ES2 has corrupted it or designer ES2 has a bug that makes reader and acrobat print engine not recognize the pages.
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks,
    Josh

  • Is there a way to automatically align and make same size of check boxes/ radio-buttons like in the image below?

    I create PDF forms on daily basis for multiple people around but still, I create a table in Word and then manually convert it to PDF. I'm using Acrobat X and then I manually create radio buttons or check boxes in each cell of the table so aligning those buttons or check-boxes in the same line is a problem. I know there would be some solution to this but can anyone guide me to that? Also, making the same size of the radio-buttons of check boxes likewise ? ? ?
    Please see the image above and advise how to align them in the same line and how to make them same size using Acrobat X?
    Your help appreciated.

    You should create these fields using the Place Multiple Fields command, so that they are aligned properly and all the same size. Read about it here:

  • Need help in LiveCycle Forms - Highlighting required fields when the check box is checked / Un-highlighting the fields if I un-check the check box...

    Hello All!
    I am relatively new to creating forms within LiveCycle but I have learned quickly so bare with me on my question.
    I have figured out how to highlight a field when a check box is clicked on, however, I cannot get it to remove the highlight when the check box is unchecked?
    This is what I used for the highlight:
    Subform1.fieldname.fillColor="255,255,0"
    Can anyone provide any insight or suggestions on how I might fix this script issue?
    Thanks in advance!
    -Lisa

    Hi,
    Script migth be something like this. Put it on Change event of the check box
    if (this.rawValue == 1) { Subform1.fieldname.fillColor="255,255,0"
    xfa.layout.relayout();
    else
    { Subform1.fieldname.fillColor="255,0,0"
    xfa.layout.relayout();

  • Clone Stamp in CS2 - Aligned check box

    While using the Clone Stamp tool in CS2, the "Aligned" check box continually checks itself.  I un-check it, but while I'm painting, I find that it has checked itself again.  During a large painting job, this can happen multiple times.  Very annoying!  Does anyone know how to keep it from doing this?

    That's a "feature", i guess.
    In other words, holding down the Alt key and double clicking turns on Aligned even if ii's off, so either your working extremely fast and inadvertly double clicking with the Alt key down
    or your double click speed settings for your mouse are set too Fast.

  • Livecycle: Can you click a check box and have it copy the entire field to a new location?

    I have a check box and I want to check the box and have field 1a, field 1b, field 1c be copied to location on a third page.
    These are patient goals: and those goals need to be recognized later on while trying to fill out paperwork, but I don't want to have to look back at the front page. so I want to pick which goals I want to see at a later page and have the goal  (field) and the field content that was chosen on the first page show up.
    I will choose three to five goals and I want them lined up
    field 1a, field 1b, field 1c then underneath
    field 2a, field 2b, field 2 c etc.
    THanks for the help

  • Is there a way to automatically add a page to my current form when the user marks the check box?

    I have an existing expense report form that I created using Adobe Pro's Form Tools. The user enters all the appropriate information (ie, vendor, amount, business justification, etc.) and then it calculates all the expenses at the bottom.
    I have added a box next to each line item to be checked by the user in the case that they have an expense with a missing receipt.
    Is there a way to have a pre-existing missing receipt form, be added at the end of the expense report, each time the user marks one of these missing receipt check boxes?
    If so, is there a way to have all the expense line item data automatically fill in the information on the added missing receipt form?
    I am using Adobe Pro's Form tool rather than Livecycle because it is compatible with my IPAD.
    Thanks,

    One word: Templates
    For more information, see: page: http://livedocs.adobe.com/acrobat_sdk/9.1/Acrobat9_1_HTMLHelp/JS_Dev_Templates.80.1.html
    Unfortunately, templates don't work with Reader either, unless the document is Reader-enabled with LiveCycle Reader Extensions.

  • Check box prompt

    Hi all,
    I have a generated form with a check box in a multi record block, the prompt is placed above: this is ok.
    Now, I want to place a button below, so I created an item group in which I put all the displayed fields except the button. The item group has layout format Multi-record. Now the button is displayed once below the item group which is the way I want it, the problem is that the prompt of the check box is placed besides the check box instead of above. The CBXALM preference of the block is set to "Y".
    I am using designer 6.5.52.1.0
    Any ideas?
    Steven

    Well, found this on Metalink
    fact: Oracle Designer 6.0
    fact: Oracle Designer 2.1.2
    fact: CASEOFG - Forms Generator
    symptom: Unable to center checkbox prompt above a multi record block
    symptom: Checkbox prompts are not centered even though the value of both
    the following preferences is set to 'CENTER':
    ITMPJR (Prompt justification above a right-justified item)
    ITMPJL (Prompt justification above a left-justified item)
    cause: This behavior is described in <BUG:1147085>:CHECKBOX PROMPT NOT
    CENTERED IN SPREAD TABLE
    The problem occurs when the width of the check box item is set to a
    value higher than 3. The position of the prompt is centered
    relative to the space reserved for the check box. The space reserved
    for the check box is the specified width. Since the real width of the
    checkbox is 2, the alignment of the prompt is not centered relative
    to the occupied width of the check box.
    fix:
    Workaround:
    Nullify the check box item 'Width' property or set the width of
    the check box item to 2 or 3.
    When I read this I simply changed the width of the checkbox items to NULL.
    It works fine ! You don't need to set any generator prefs to achieve this.
    Cheers,

  • Check box selection

    Hi
    I have a problem with check box selection.I query from the database and based on the output from the query i prepopulate the check box with a tick mark.But when the user goes again and deselects one of the check box that was ticked and submits the form , it also includes the unchecked box.the following is the code I have.
    <%
    if (itemStr == 00 ){
    %>
    <td align="center">
    <input type="checkbox" name="build">
    </td>
    <% }
    else{ %>
    <td align="center">
    <input type="checkbox" name="build1" checked >
    </td>
    Then in my form I do
    String[] ar = request.getParameterValues("build1");
    how do i ensure if the user unselects from build1 , it doesnt add that item.
    Help Needed
    Arn

    Notice that this line
    request.getParameterValues("build1");
    is getting the value of the check box. The "checked" attribute is not the value, just the attribute.
    Oddly enough, I just wrote some code to do this today.
    First, add this little javascript method to your page.
    <SCRIPT language="JavaScript"> <!--  //Hide contents from older browsers
    function setHiddenTagFromCheckbox(checkbox, element) {
      if(checkbox.checked) {
        element.value="yes";
      else {
        element.value="no";
    // End hiding the contents -->
    </SCRIPT> 2) Add a hidden input field for each checkbox field.
    <input type="HIDDEN" name="prin2signhidden" value = "no">3) Add an onclick handler for the check box
    <input type=checkbox name="prin2sign" onclick="setHiddenTagFromCheckbox(document.formname.prin2sign, document.formname.prin2signhidden)">In your servlet check the value of prin2signhidden instead of the checkbox input.
    The forum is doing odd things to this source code. Any place you see a > you should actually have a "greater than" sign.

    please help me

    Nisha Grover

    Nisha,
    Without a page refresh you have certainly locked yourself into JS functionality.
    If I am understanding correctly and if you were will to accomplish your goals while INCLUDING a page refresh, this could be easily be done with dynamic LOV's.
    But assuming that is not an option, you could setup an application process, that runs your select query or what ever else you need to get your values.
    From there you can make a javascript call to the htmldb_Get function, to execute your application process.
    Once the process is finished, you now have your values in the js function, to populate your p17_citem check box with.
    Look at this link for additional details.

  • How do can I have the form fill in a check box if the user has entered text in a textbox?

    I have a form that is submitting an xml data file that is picked up by MS Word and used to populate a document. However, there's a 'Miscellaneous' field where the user can type in addtional information that would not drop easily into the Word document (exceptions, items not on the drop down lists, etc.). I'd like to test to see if that Miscellaneous field has infomation in it and if it does, to set a invisible checkbox to "1" so that I can insert a text message in the Word document that there's additional information in the .pdf form that will have to be addressed manually in the Word document.
    I've tried
    if(Misc.rawValue !== "")
    otherinfo.rawValue = 1;
    but while it doesn't generate a Javascript error, it doesn't set the value either, and I haven't found any function that checks for whether a field is empty. I'm sure there's got to be a way to do this, but I'm stumped. Any help greatly appreciated!
    Bill

    It appears you are using LiveCycle Designer, so you will have to use the syntax of FormCalc or LiveCycle Designer JavaScript.
    For FormCalc:
    if(HasValue(Misc)) then
    otherinfo = 1
    else
    otherinfo = 0
    endif
    For JavaScript
    if(HasValue(Misc.rawValue))
    otherinfo.rawValue = 1;
    else
    otherinfo.rawValue = 0;
    I added code to clear the check box if the user clears the field.
