All about oracle xe

i am having a problem in connecting the tables to each other. i know that it is all about the primary and foreign keys. how can i connect them and i want to fuly understand its importance. i need this because i will be doing a tree in my project. i cannot have the 2 attributes that i needed coz i d not have them in my tree binding editor
thanks for your help

Maileen,
for database design questions, please refer to the database website here on OTN. A primary key is a unique key in one table referenced by a column (the foreign key) in another table. In JDeveloper you can use the database modeller to visually design tables that use primary/foreign key relationships

  • What is Oracle all about

I am an instructor at a two year technical college. We are starting a class the administration want to call Oracle. It is basically SQL and SQL Plus. I took a class recently in this subject and feel fairly confident in handling that. BUT - - Where do you go to find out some basic information about ORACLE itself. Everything I see or sites I go to are so complicated. Lots of information but nothing basic - - like from the beginning. If a student asks, "What is Oracle?" From everything I see it is huge and very difficult to explain.
I need some basic help in this area. Does anyone know where there is a good tutortial about the basics of "What is Oracle?" Not SQL information but Oracle itself.
Thanks - - if you can help me!

Oracle is relational data base system. and now what is relational data base system. well i dont have words to ex[lain you but if u learn about relational data base then u must understand. and for oracle we use sql language. we write some statements behind the form or icons(button) like
search a person on age limit is graeter than 18
    and we write

  • Please suggest me the best way to start learning about Oracle Purchasing.

    Hi,
I have started reading about Oracle Procurement. I have an over all idea of how ERP functions. Anyhow I am like a fresher to ORACLE APPS. Can you pleasesuggest me what is the best way to start learning about Oracle Purchasing.
Is it is throuhg user guides or some thing else..... can you please specify the references also.......
    Thank you so much.

If you have a sponsorship, I would recommend taking classes with Oracle University. The other resources are documentation, functional and technical depending on what your interests are.
If you can load Vision database or access vision database (I think solutionbeacon offers a free account to login and play around), that will be another resource as well.
As you learn, join as much user groups like this one, and review all questions and answers in the discussions to understand and learn more.
    Hope this helps.

  • Query about Oracle 9i AS

    Hi,
An apology, if this is wrong place to ask this question.
Is it possible to achieve following in Oracle 9i Application Server
    1. Capability to produce XML documents from the data in database
    2. Creating and deploying web service in Oracle application server.
    3. Any queuing option provided in oracle for such web service requests/response?
Please let me know your views on this.
Any help will be highly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Ninad

The short answer is yes to all your questions.
    For #1, refer this:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/appdev.111/b28369/xdb13gen.htm#g1047191
You might want to check following too for all about XML in Oracle:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/xml/index.html
For #2 and #3, refer this tutorial:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe1013jdev/ws/wsandascontrol.htm
    Also check out this:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/java/oc4j/odd/index.html
PS: You might not be able to do everything with 9iAS which is an older version of Oracle Application Server. You might have to work with 10g version.

  • What is GRC all about?

    Hello
What is GRC (Governance; Risk and Compliance) module all about?
What is its implementation time if it is to be implemented stand alone post Go live?
What are the functionalities available in it a

SAP GRC Access Control has a central repository for access and authorization based risks and controls:-
    1. Provides risk analysis for every Process that can be covered by the solution
    2. Supports the creation and assignment of a mitigation control out of an approval workflow via
        the mitigation service
SAP Access Control contains the following tools which are becoming increasingly integrated for optimum usage:
    1. Compliance Calibrator (Risk Analysis and Remediation u2013 RAR)
This tool supports real-time compliance by stopping security and controls violations before they occur. It contains the most comprehensive library of Segregation of Duty (SoD) rules available for enterprise applications from SAP, Oracle, and PeopleSoft. This makes it easy for business-process owners to deploy rules applicable to their organization and to eliminate risks from enterprise applications.
    2. Firefighter (Super Privilege Management u2013 SPM)
This enables super-users to perform emergency activities outside the parameters of their normal role, but to do so within a controlled, fully auditable environment. The application assigns a temporary ID that grants the super-user broad yet regulated access, and tracks and logs every activity the super-user performs using that temporary ID.
    3. Role Expert (Enterprise Role Management - ERM)
ERM centralizes and standardizes enterprise wide role management. This helps to eliminate manual errors, provides an audit trail for changes, and enforces best practices. Using the application, business managers can define functional roles, and IT managers can define the associated technical permissions.
    4. Access Enforcer (Compliant User Provisioning - CUP)
CUP supports fully compliant user provisioning across applications throughout the employee life cycle. Multi-step guided procedures automate approval processes and enforce mandatory, real-time risk assessments prior to provisioning users to enterprise applications.

  • What is Big data all  about .. ?

    Hai to all
May i know what is the Big data all about ? ... how can i install and learn ?
is it good demand in market and is there any good pay for that ? in that market am from india... currently am working in Oracle Incentive compensation... my previous experience into siebel crm .....
Please can u suggest me good things
    thanks

Well, there are many big data initiatives and there is a lot of interest in the market. So, yes big data is an interesting career path.
What is big data? Many things, but in general the "art" of collecting, correlating and understanding data - in massive volumes and at rapid ingest speeds - to drive businesses to better support their customers, their goals etc.
How to get started? Look around the forums, but also on Linked-In where you see job postings. Two avenues to consider for learning:
    - Analytics, look at this Oracle link: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/options/advanced-analytics/index.html
    - Hadoop and NoSQL database, look at the big data appliance page, and possibly take a class on Hadoop
    Hope that helps,
    JP

  • Want to know about oracle seeded executable XDODTEXE

Can anybody explain about oracle seeded executable XDODTEXE? When I should use this executable? If i create .rdf report, what will be the mapping to this executable?
    regards,
    RJ

What is XDODTEXE used in the Executable section of Concurrent Program?
XDODTEXE is a BI Publisher Data Template Executable. The purpose of this executable is to identify data template file (.xml) and execute the data template to generate the raw xml data, that later can be used by BI Publisher formatting engine to format as as per the layout (RTF, PDF etc).
This executable will be used by all the BI Publisher reports (Concurrent Program) which are using Data Template to generate the xml data.

  • About Oracle Internals

    Hi all,
Could anyone tell me the link where I can learn much about oracle internals, which is the pre-requisite for advance performance tuning.
    Thanks.

    Hi Sir,
Was very happy to see you in this post, also i read your *"Oracle Database 10g Real Application Clusters Handbook"*. This book is really amazing for getting internal knowledge of RAC like Cache Fusion, Delayed Block Clean-Out, PI, BWR ......lot more ...
By the way i know very clearly about BWR and PI, but my doubt is related to Transaction Lock and Block Lock with respect to Current Image Block.
In chapter 12, Cache Fusion II or Write/Write Cache Fusion, Example 4: Getting a (Cached) Modified Block for Update and Commit ==> You have mentioned
"Instance A sends the dirty block to instance C over the interconnect. It downgrades the lock on the buffer from XCUR to NULL. It keeps a PI version of the block and disowns any lock on that buffer. Before shipping the block, instance A has to create a PI image and flush any pending redo for the block changed. The block mode on instance A is now NG1."
    1. If Instance A is still performing DML transaction on the block, which means ITL slot is open on the header of this block....Then how come Instance A will transfer this block to Instance C along with open ITL....If suppose Instance A rollbacks the transaction then dont you think Instance has to do lot of work as Undo segments related to this transaction are residing in Instance A.
    2. If Instance A will not transfer the active transction block then Instance C will do Disk ping which is an performance degrade...Am i saying right ?
    3. If Instance A will transfer only when Instance C is willing to perform DML on other row on that same block, then how Instance C maintains active transaction shifting from Intance A to C and how Instance C maintains commit and rollback of active transaction in its buffer pefromed by Instance A ?

  • ABOUT ORACLE TUTORIAL

Am new to oracle.?can anyone please give me a brief idea about oracle.

Can you please tell me the diffrence between
"developer" and "Database Administration DBA"The biggest difference is probably:
    - The DBA has a database
    - The Developer uses a database
    Other differences:
    - The DBA is the person who carries backup tapes to the safe room.
    - The Developer never does that.
    - The DBA is the one who tells the Developer that he cannot have a login for the server OS
    - The Developer is the one who just wants to use server side utils, like tkprof
    - The DBA is the one who tells the Developer that synonyms are harmful
    - The Developer is the one who uses them to encapsulate remote objects
    - The DBA is the one who thinks roles are broken since all privs must be known at compile time
    - The Developer is the one who must give up on using roles, since he cannot create them
    - The DBA is the one who tells the Developer not to care about tablespaces while ordering him to use separate index tablespaces
    - The Developer couldn't care less and knows about the myths
    - The DBA is the one who complaints about full table scans
    - The Developer sometimes design for partition pruning
    - The DBA is the one who pokes around in a Toad gui when administering HIS database
    - The Developer develops scripts
    - The DBA reviews the Developers work, and tells him it's too complicated
    - The Developer develops more scripts (Equally complicated)
    - The DBA answers questions in General forum
    - The Developer answers questons in PL/SQL forum
All out of memory, and of course more nonsense could be written.
Maybe not funny, but I'm sure you get my point:
Being qualified to handle a technology has nothing to do with job title.
It has everything to do with level of education, experience, interest and care.
    Just passing through, trolling.
    Happy week-end ;)
