ALLOnl+LOG Backup via DB13 failed

Hi!
I have planned each week a ALL Online Backup with LOG.
When the action has been performed the backup failed and I get the following error:
BR0301W SQL error -1031 at location saplikey_read-1, SQL statement:
'OPEN curs_122 CURSOR FOR'
'SELECT SELECT LIKEY, VALUE FROM SAP_SAPLIKEY ORDER BY LIKEY'
ORA-01031: insufficient privileges
BR1301W Error message from likeywlib: likey_init: likeyche_fill_buffer: couldn't get the list of all records from the persistence.
BR1302W Initialization of license key library likeywlib failed, return code 1
BR1304W Checking SAP license failed at location BrLicCheck-104
BR0602W No valid SAP license found - please contact SAP
I checked via tcode SLICENSE and detected that a valid SAP license exist.
Question:
How can I solve this problem?
Thank you very much!
regards
Holger

Hello Holger,
before you can perform a backup the BR*Tools are checking the valid licenses. The PUBLIC synonym SAP_SAPLIKEY is used for that.
Your user that is performing this action is not allowed to query the PUBLIC synonym (and the corresponding base table). This can have different reasons (wrong synonym, sapconn or sapdba role script was not executed, etc.).
Normally the BR*Tools are run under <SID>adm, if you schedule the backup via DB13. So please check all these stuff (#1028220, #834917, #480266).
I also have investigated a topic like that with another user in the forum... please also check this thread:

  • Errors in Offline Backup via DB13 SAP & Oracle on Linux

OS: Linux Database : Oracle Systems Affected : Production & Disaster Recovery Server
    Hi
We have offline backup scheduled every friday via SAP the backup runs fine & copies all the files in the backup directory but when i go see the backup logs in DB 14 i see the Offline Backup ending with Error Code 0005 & when i see the Detail logs i see following in red
    BR0278E Command output of '/oracle/UHP/102_64/bin/sqlplus /nolog < /oracle/UHP/sapbackup/.beelhrfo.spi':
    BR0279E Return code from '/oracle/UHP/102_64/bin/sqlplus /nolog < /oracle/UHP/sapbackup/.beelhrfo.spi': 0
BR0302E SQLPLUS call for database instance UHP failed
BR0306E Start and open of database instance UHP failed
Also if i check the BRARCHIVE i see them ending with following errors in Detail Log
    BR0278E Command output of 'LANG=C cd /oracle/UHP/sapreorg && LANG=C cp spaceUHP.log paramUHP.log /backup/UHPARCH//UHP':

BR0222E Copying /oracle/UHP/saparch/archUHP.log to/from /backup/UHPARCH//UHP failed due to previous errors
Please also note that we have a Disaster Recovery Server too & the above mentioned errors are in our (Production )Primary Database & once this backu finished the DR Server stops getting any log files, this happens only when this offline backup on every friday runs,
    Issues
The backup ends with errors although the backup file is generated & all data is copied
DR Server dont get redo log files after this offline backup on every friday

for the Cp errors i will see the permissions in backup/UHP ( this error is happening in online backup ) my main concern is the error occured in offline backup as it is somehow connected with our DR SERVER NOT GETTING THE LOG FILES EVEN AFTER THE SYSTEM IS UP ( yes if the primary is down no logs will be shipped to standby i know that but even after the primary is up after a offline backup via SAP via DB 13 the standby dont get any log files unless i restart the database and SAP )
So the error in the offline backup mentioned above in my post occurred at 29 OCT 15: 45  20
BR0302E SQLPLUS call for database instance UHP failed
BR0306E Start and open of database instance UHP failed
after this my primary database comes up & sap starts but the DR server dont get any logs & also the backup logs show the above errors in red
Given below is the text from Oracle alert file for the same time duration when the system tries to start the database & the above mentioned error comes up in opening the database time Stamp : OCT 29 15: 45 20
Deprecated system parameters with specified values:
    log_archive_start
End of deprecated system parameter listing
This is the only oracle alert log errors i can find relevant to database instance errors from DB 14
moreover in the alert file it also starts the data broker service relevant to i guess DR server in that all seems fine it starts everything then it gives this error & then keeps giving errors ( from oracle alert log file )
Error 12154 received logging on to the standby

This is the pertinent bit.  Your naming convention for your media does not comply with the limitations ..... i.e, change your tape name to be 10 or less characters.

    Hi,
Execute the following command at sql prompt.
    grant dba,resource,connect,sapdba to OPS$<SID>ADM  OPS$ORA<SID>
    grant dba,resource,connect,sapdba to O OPS$ORA<SID>
grant dba, resource, connect, sapdba to  SAPSR3 or SAP<SID>(YOUR SCHEMA NAME)
Also check owner of SAPUSER table
    SELECT OWNER FROM DBA_TABLES WHERE TABLE_NAME = 'SAPUSER';
If it returns value OPS$<SID>ADM than its ok, otherwise you have to drop this & recreate with command
    CREATE TABLE "OPS$QASADM".SAPUSER
           (USERID VARCHAR2(256), PASSWD VARCHAR2(256));
            INSERT INTO "OPS$<sid>ADM".SAPUSER VALUES ('<sapowner>',

  • Wireless Time Machine Backup via AEBS Failing

I just bought a Airport Extreme Base Station (5th Generation) so that I can use an external hard drive (Western Digital My Passport SE) to wirelessly backup my Mac Book Pro. I've been using the external hard drive as my time machine via USB cable and it works fine. However if I connect the external hard drive to the AEBS, the TM software says that the "disk is unavailable", even though I can selected the external drive as a TM disk in the TM preferences and the Mac Book Pro can read and write from the external hard drive wirelessly using the airport. The only function not working is the TM wirelessly.
Has Apple blocked this functionality? I called Apple Care and they said it is unsupported and that they will only help if I buy the time capsule.
This is what I have tried from of posted that have failed with the same error "disk is unavaiable":
Updated firmware on AEBS and external drive
Reformatted the external drive using the Mac Book Pro disk utility to MAC OS (Journaled)
Erased old backups and started the TM wirelessly from scratch
Started TM through USB, canceled then tried wirelessly
Tried this terminal command: sudo defaults write com.apple.systempreferences TMShowUnsupportedNetworkVolumes 1
Turned off the wireless signal and connect AEBS via Ethernet cable to the Mac Book and started the TM
Used another external hard drive (Seagate 500 gig)
    I'm stuck! Any ideas?

I'm afraid that you are not going to like this answer, but it will explain the difficulties that you...and almost all other users who try this....will experience sooner or later.
Apple does not support Time Machine backups to a drive at the USB port of the AirPort Extreme
    Reference this Apple Support Document:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.6/en/15139.html
All you can really do if you want to continue to try to backup using Time Machine to a disk at the USB port of the AirPort Extreme is connect the drive directly to your Mac and run Disk Utility to "repair disk" and/or "repair disk permissions".
This will likely get you going again....until the backup becomes corrupted again....which might be a few days, a few weeks, or even a few months. Eventually, Disk Utility will not be able to repair the disk.
You might want to consider a secondary backup plan if you elect to contine to try the backups through the AirPort Extreme.

  • Full Online + REDO Log backup failing

    Hi Experts,
We have a failing backup when running a 'Full Online + REDO Logs' scheduled via DB13 (ERP6/Windows 2008/Oracle 10.2.0.4)
Whilst it is successful in backing up the datafiles and the REDO logs to the remote destination, it fails to catalog the backup, displaying the following message:

From what I understand, RMAN runs under the OracleService<SID> service, which calls the oracle.exe process, which is owned by the local user SYSTEM. This accounts for the access denied problem when accessing the remote destination using the RMAN utility.
As a test, I'm aware that if I change the ownership of oracle.exe to a non-local, domain user (<SID>adm), I can run RMAN commands without the permission denied error occuring. (performed this on a Sandbox)
The problem  when I use this <SID>adm account as the oracle.exe owner, is that the SAP application Work Processes won't connect to oracle.
    My questions are:
Is it a valid workaround to change the process owner of oracle.exe to something other than the local SYSTEM user?
If so, what are the criteria that need to be met for the new domain user to ensure that the SAP application is stable?
Does anyone know of an alternative workaround?
    Thanks,
    Chris W

    Hi Markus,
    Thanks for the response.
I've managed to get the SAP application to run with Oracle using the <SID>adm account as the OracleService<SID> owner.
The original problem with the SAP work processes in connecting with the Oracle database was due to the Oracle listener services also being owned by local user SYSTEM.
I changed the listener services ownership to <SID>adm (as well as the OracleService<SID>) and this allowed the connection between the SAP work processes and Oracle.
Also, I gave the domain <SID>adm account local administrator rights (same as SYSTEM) and have seen no problems since the switch.
I can also access a remote host using the RMAN utility - problem appears to be solved.

    Hi Rohan,
Are you using any backup software to manage SAP Backups? Has anything changed? Any upgrades done to backup software?

  • Backup Not Starting for 'Whole database offline + redo log backup' @ DB13

    Hi Experts,
I am not able to perform 'Whole database offline + redo log backup' by DB13.
I have recently configured my 'init<SID>.sap'  to take 'Whole database online + redo log backup' and its working perfectly fine.
I tried taking test backup for  'Whole database offline + redo log backup'  but it didn't even  started.
Thus I created another profile with name init<SID>back.sap  and changed the Parameter
    from 'backup_type = online'  to 'backup_type = offline' and also tried by 'backup_type = offline_force'
rest all parameters being same as the profile  init<SID>.sap
Kindly Suggest as I need to take set the backup Strategy as  Mon-Fri  -> 'Whole database offline + redo log backup'  and Sat ->  'Whole database offline + redo log backup'
One more Query : While taking the redo log backup by DB13 why is it that some times it only saves the Files and some time it
saves and delete the files from the '/oracle/<SID>/oraarch'  location. Please throw some light over this matter also.
    Thanks,
    Jitesh

    Hi Mr Bhavik,
Thanks for your reply..  Here are the details you have asked for.
1.My SAP BASIS Patch Level  is :  10. ( We shall be updating it by the end of this Year)
    2. Br*tools version is :
    BRTOOLS   7.00 (11)
    kernel release    700
    patch level   11
    3. I don't have any file with name alert<dbsid>.log file (located at /oracle/<SID>/saptrace/background/) but i do have alert_<SID>.log
    I execute the command more -p G alert_JMD.log
after my  'Whole database offline + redo log backup' again failed at DB13 but I was not able to see any specific complains while executing the above action.
I got the Error Detailed Log in DB13 as :

  • Tran log backup fail after setting a DB offline

This is strange.  SQL 2005 SP3 (build 4340).  Full backup job and tran log backup job are separate maint plans/Agent jobs as opposed to multiple steps in one maint plan (don't ask me... I didn't set it up that way.)
I set a database XYZ offline last night at around 9pm.  It was last backed up at 8pm (full recovery mode).  My tran log backup started failing then.  This morning, I detached the database.  Tran log backup job still failing.
I finally realized it had something to do with database XYZ so I re-attached it.  Tran log backup working now.  The weird thing is that XYZ had not been selected only specific databases, and the detached database isn't selected.  I
tried setting to simple recovery mode and doing a final full backup before detaching, but tran log job still fails.  How can I get rid of database XYZ without the tran job failing?  Thanks.

I have encountered this problem. I concur with EA. But you would need to modify the maintenance plan and save it (uncheck and check a database again) to rectify the problem (if you just open the maintenance plan and save it, it will still fail)

    Hi,
since you are getting a read error, it might as well be, that your datafile is defective.
Try the same dd-command to /dev/null, to see if it is possible to read the entire file.
First make sure that your null-device is existing, otherwise you might face a root-fs full problem.
    dd obs=1024K bs=1024K if=/oracle/ANP/sapdata2/sr3_9/sr3.data9 of=/dev/null
or try a dbverify on it, which would also read the entire file and do a checksum test.
    brbackup -c -u / -m /oracle/ANP/sapdata2/sr3_9/sr3.data9 -t online -w only_dbv
    Good luck

  • DB13: Execute Redo log backup of remote Oracle 11g database fails

    Dear Experts,
First of all I have to state I am not very experienced in administrating (Oracle) databases, but I would like to ask you all the following:
We run two SAP Systems with each their own database on the same host:
    1. SAP SRM ABAP system on Oracle 11g
    2. SAP NetWeaver WebAS Java (Portal) on Oracle 11g
We would like to schedule backups of the Java database in transaction code DB13 on the SRM ABAP system.
    Actions already taken:
    - We have maintained the proper database connection to the Java database and have set file system permissions correctly (according SAP Note 102570). Connection in transaction DB02 is fine and stats are showing for both databases.
    - We have maintained enviroment settings for <SID>_ORACLE_HOME and <SID>_SAPDATA_HOME and for the shell (csh).
    - Destination SAPXPG_DBDEST_<host> is maintained in SM59.
When we schedule a Redo log backup of Java System in DB13 and execute immediately, we receive the following error:
Process died due to signal 11
SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE mislukt voor BRARCHIVE - oorzaak: unknown
    Any tips?
Thanks in advance & Best regards,
    Jan Laros

    Hi Eduardo,
Thank you for your reply.. Today I am at another customer, so I can not check it. But is seems to me that the BRTOOLS are up-to-date as we installed the system fresh and imported the Support Package and kernel updates right afterwards.
I will check which BRTOOLS are used tonight, anyway.
    Best regards,
    Jan
